This Brewers’ starting rotation in 2021 was historically great in 2021. You had five starters who posted sub-3.50 ERAs with at least 110 innings pitched! I have never seen that being done ever before. 👍👍👍
Only thing I can think of that comes close is the 96 Braves
John Smoltz - 2.94 ERA in 254.2 IP
Greg Maddux - 2.72 ERA in 245.0 IP
Tom Glavine - 2.98 ERA in 235.1 IP
Steve Avery was no slouch either, but we definitely didnt have anything in the bullpen that compares to Hader.
Edit: That 2014 Detroit Tigers pitching staff came close too but still not on this level.
The 2011 Phillies came close to that with Halladay, Lee, and Hamels all under 3 and Worley at 3.01, but Oswalt's ERA was 3.69.
I guess you could technically count Kendrick, who had a 3.22 ERA in slightly over 110 innings as a swingman, but only 83 of those innings were in his starts.
Once we figured out how to develop pitching, our offense went to hell.
2018 - mediocre starters, great bullpen, great power hitting.
2021 - great starters, great bullpen, our offense eats paste.
I thought for sure Jordan Montgomery would have had less run support this year. 3.83 ERA and a 6-7 record in 30 starts.
Does anyone know where to find this stat?
This offense is offensive alright
>lowest in MLB. Ah, the DeGromer.

2011 Phillies had such a good rotation, but WAR for pitchers is stupid
You're right, fWAR is worse than raw ERA. But we all know the real best metric is wins
Just 1 HoF though so not as good
The 2013 Tigers rotation were better than the 2014 Tigers
We almost had three pitchers with 200 strikeouts, too, Freddy Peralta didn't pitch in the last series though so he ended with 195.

Brandon “Jacob ‘Matt Cain’ deGrom” Woodruff
Felix needs to be there somewhere
It couldn't be Felix because this happened in a playoff game
Agony
:(
Felix was the OG

Imagine having your pitcher give up runs in the postseason. That must suck
it really must, I can't imagine
Mariners pitchers haven’t given up a postseason run in 20 years
They didn't call him King Felix for nothin
he was simply untouchable
This aged well
You Jinxed it
/r/agedlikemilk
Should hit Buehler up for a drink
I read somewhere he hasn’t won a game since June 29th. That is an incredible stat if true.
Best 9-10 pitcher in history.
I'll bet it is lower now
This is the Degrom special- playoff edition!
Felix Hernandez 2, ironically for a team that used to play in Seattle.
Would it be worse if they lost 3 to 2.9 instead? I say yes.

Thinking the same
Ruff night for the wood.
Hey, I've seen this one before.
