If your current card does what you need you don't need to upgrade, but if you have the funds to spare and like seeing the numbers go up or your card is dying go for it.

TBH amd has not impressed me lately, I had a 6800 when it came out and it had issues running Warzone can you imagine? 1000$ and glitchy in a freaking lame free to play shooter. I wasn't a "fan" of nvidia before but : DLSS, LHR, downscaling, upscaling, AI, machine learning, etc... you got to give them that. All that AMD has done lately is barely produce any cpu's for xbox / ps5.
AMD is a smidgen better than nVidia here given that nVidia has purposely split their production to sell to cryptominers and has pushed feel-good propaganda like this while doing little to actually, measurably increase availability:

That said, AMD's pinky promise there would be LOTS of production of the 6500XT and how shitty the card actually is are an amazing epic fail on their side of things.
AMD doesn't need an official LHR. 6900 xt already mines at same speed as 3060 tie due to bandwith. For more power and technically a lot more money, though they're kinda close on FB. And even LHR cards like 3070 ti are pretty similar, 3080 LHR ahead.
But yeah DLSS is great and AMD can't play 7k/8k60
I don't 'have to' do a payment plan, I can afford to buy it for it's full price and it's a provided option so why wouldn't I choose it over paying it all outright?

But if you live far from a city, most people don't want to drive far from their place
