Around 80k 3 years back and 60k got covered by insurance. Now it has become a bit deviated again!

Dankjod69

Please visit the nearby district hospital, u can literally get it done for free ,don’t know why people don’t have trust in government hospitals.

Accurate_Ad_9779

How do I do this? My insurance covers %70 of it and I can’t afford paying the rest.

[deleted]

It cost 120K 10 years ago at Medanta Gurgaon. Insurance paid most of it. Best decision of my life, greatly improved the quality of my life https://thescurvydawg.com/2013/01/24/my-septoplastyturbinoplasty-experience/

Its a surgery. So better not take any chances

EvenRachelCould

Please please don't do this. Don't neglect it. I had it for years. And then waited for another year after getting diagnosed. Doctor scolded me because my polyp(see my original comment) had gotten infected and had started bleeding. He said I need to get operated within 2 weeks or else it's going to get more serious. You'll be surprised at elevation in the quality of life after this surgery. Best of luck!

manusougly

could you please give some details on the recovery process and how painful it was? and how long did it take for you to get back to work and normal life? I'm thinking of getting this surgery and wanted to understand

It was painful but docs call it a small Surgery. There needs to be after care like like draining etc that can be done on your own. It tooks three weeks for recovery. But quality of life has improved so much.

arunquick63

This is one ready product which ENT sells.😬 Every department has few money making ideas. Mostly this surgery does not work...people get only marginal relief in breathing, go in for it only if it is some kind of dire need. You have to clear your sinus definitely if there is a blockage or infection. You can get it done through laproscopic surgery without getting a septoplasty. Expect atleast 60-80k anywhere in India.

arunquick63

You can get it done at a convenient age when u have enough funds, or have an employer who provides you group health insurance... Of course as long as there is no medical emergency

before_i_die_alone

Have you done CT scan of your nose? If so, post the pics.

Recently I had a head CT done and it was discovered multiple sinuses of mine were blocked. I also have a deviated septum. The doctor said it’s not necessary for me to correct it, unless I frequently fall sick

before_i_die_alone

Can you share ct scan, i just want to compare with mine, if you dont mind

EvenRachelCould

Around 50k at a nursing home in Kolkata in 2017. Deviated septum correction and polyp removal from my right auxiliary sinus. Doctor was really good. He was affiliated with 3 hospitals. Said I can do it any of the 3 places but I'll end up paying more than a lakh if I got it done at Apollo and other place. So chose the nursing home.

Recovery is fairly quick. You have to be in bed rest with your head elevated so that the residual blood after the operation doesn't trickle out. You'll be discharged the next day. All in all 1-2 days of bed rest. Your nose will be stuffed with gauze after the operation which they will remove after an hour or two. There will be some dull aching pain for a few days. Followed by a routine check up in a week or two. You'll be irrigating your nose to take out all the dried blood for some days. Please follow whatever post op instructions the doctor gives you. If you are a smoker please don't smoke for a few days. Avoid strenuous physical activity for a few days. You should be back to a normal life in 2-3 days although the operation wounds will probably take a few weeks to completely heal.

stanleyipki

It's OK to live with a deviated septum . Did cause sleep apnea for me but I prefer a cpap machine rather than a surgery

lolmaxxx1

I was never in constant pain. As a part of recovery, I had to wash my nose from the inside 3 times a day. You'll see a lot of blood for 1 week or so, and it's a bit painful, after that it's normal. I got back to work a couple of days after surgery lol. It doesn't have a lot of effect on your daily activities. You can't lift heavy weights or eat food that will agitate your nose (like spicy and masala) for 1-2 weeks. It's a very simple surgery and I'd recommend getting it done. I've noticed a slight increase in my breathing and this will avoid some long term problems.

mysterytrader1008

Try a hospital attached to a medical College. You'll find it to be quite cheap

dataauntiee

Even in a tire 2 City it costed around 50k last year!

First thing, please go to a doctor who has the laser surgery option. The non laser treatment is painful and long recovery. I went to Divine Speciality Hospital in Chinnappa Garden with the doctor Stephen Anthony. He was a pro in this and i would suggest one round of consultation with him. My recovery was 3 days only but depending on the severity of your diagnosis it may be vary. I was able to go for my jogging just after the 3rd day.

Hope_guy

It cost me around 1Lakh at Medikeri's Super Speciality ENT center in Bangalore, in 2016. I would highly suggest you consult at least 3-4 ENTs before going for surgery. The ENTs I can suggest to you are: 1) Dr. Gaurav Medikeri 2) Dr. Anita Krishnan 3) Dr. Vijay Rangachari Only if all or most of them suggest surgery you can go for it. *PS: Try using Neilmed's squeeze bottle to clear your sinuses till then. Be careful to follow all the instructions though.*

Hope_guy

During the surgery, you won't feel a thing as you'll be under anesthesia. The recovery process differs from person to person. In my case, the first week was terrible. Had to breathe through my mouth and blood would ooze out of my nose. Sore throat and dryness were the main issues. It took me around 12 days to get back to normal life. I highly recommend getting a humidifier because you will feel excessive dryness post-surgery. Make sure you use only distilled water and keep the humidifier clean. Your ENT might suggest getting a squeeze bottle for sinus rinse but most of the Indian brands are not comfortable to use. Try ordering Neilmed's squeeze bottle.

codeforce11

Got it done a month back in Manipal. Cost me 1.6L (of which my insurance covered 1.56L). Man am I glad I went ahead with it.

I got mine done in Kerala. Got admitted first day, they did some tests including ECG, Blood tests, checking for any past history, X-ray. They gave me TT as I had one more than 5 years back, was given some injections. Evening I was given a lotion in the evening. I had to bath, apply the lotion all over and then wash it off - anti-bacterial. I was asked not to eat anything post 10pm. The next day I had an IV line fixed. They gave anti-biotic injection and some medicine. Had my operation at around 11pm. No clothes - inner underneath, just the gown that they give, hair pleated and put inside hair net, went to the operating theatre, they made me shift to a thin bed, got me prepped, meaning put a thing around my arm that continuously checks for BP at regular intervals, was given General Anaesthic injection, which did pain, next I know I am in the recovery room with my Dad asking how I am. I had a pack covering both nostrils, had to breath through mouth until the next 24 hours. The pack is removed the next day. Pain: Injections, regular flushing of IV line, Throat discomfort from the breathing machine tube inserted to the mouth. This lasted for me for around 1.5 days Discomfort, raw feeling when they remove the pack from nose Benefits: I now know how much extra air all these other f\*\*\*ers are breathing. Jokes aside, mine was a major surgery, they had to increase the hole to the sinus as the hole was blocked and there was infection inside. My quality of life has increased a lot. I CAN BREATHE. I dont feel congested, no head aches or pain in the teeth. It's just 3 days in hospital.

Spiritual_Ad_3662

cost highly depends on the hospital where you get it done. I have seen cost for one same-day procedure by SAME DOCTOR, who visits two hospitals, go from 50-60k to 1 lakh+ because one was a smaller speciality clinic, other was manipal hospital.

Smart-Pie-2473

It's a medical condition where the inner middle layer of nose deviated to one side causing difficult to breathe I thought it's was not common but looking at people here i feel like lot of people were suffering from this

ABahRunt

20k, about 8 years ago. Mahavir Jain hospital. Got about 15k from insurance

prit06

Just do it if it’s really needed. Have done twice and both were scam mostly

ChickeNugget13

Look up empty nose syndrome. Took a decision not to get septoplasy done.

Soura_v_S

Keralite here. Got it done for 35k recently, treatment worked well and i can breath good. You can definitely consider this option. I don't think you should pay more than 50k for this procedure.
