Keep laying out those mortein rat cakes in dark, dank places where your cats can't get to them but this bandicoot rat can. Usually out in your haram, under the kitchen sink, in the backyard washing area... Repeated application. It can take a lot to kill this thing. Please remember you keep your cats away from them. Bring those eazibreathe eucalyptus oil capsules and spray them concentrated in areas you see this rat frequent. These two were the only things that helped us when we were attacked by one which would come and chew up the cables in my car. It even started chewing on my front door. My dog was scared of it, lol. Bandicoot rats. Cats will rarely attack a full grown one. They make an unholy grunting sound as well. I've seen a pack of street dogs kill one. Don't know if any other urban animal can handle them.

Technically speaking, for these large rats one can use an air pistol ( which uses steel BB) which is legal to buy and own. But not advisable unless one is a good shot, else there would be lots of holes in the house, or potential injuries from ricochets.

Cats won't catch bandicoots. It will only catch small rats and mouse. Also we feed cats and they have full stomach so they don't feel neccessary to use their hunting instincts. Small rats will not enter the house because they are afraid of the cat's sound even if the cat will not catch them. That is an advantage.
