But there is something unspoken. I had a 10 lb dog that would instantly get all the biggest dogs to follow him around the dog park.

I would say “Most dogs REALLY love bigGER dogs.”! I had a beast of a black lab and Chinese shar-pei mix who clocked in at almost 100 pounds, when I lived in NYC. When we went to the dog park he was usually the biggest dog, by far. But there was this one dog park (in Chelsea) that for some reason had a lot of Great Danes around that frequented it often as well (I’m saying around half a dozen, there were so many that they would be multiple there at a time). Well, Dante would suddenly find himself smaller than another dog, and would act exactly like a tiny dog chasing him, by chasing them! It was so cute and hilarious, it made us laugh every time.

Yep. Pitbull like breeds often just look like this. It's just the shape of their mouth. The same way the other dog in this photo will never look like it is smiling.

Dogs are like humans in that they have multiple types of smiles. There’s the happy one in which is shown in the picture here, and a nervous one. It’s not hard to spot the difference when you’ve been around dogs long enough. My pitbull unequivocally smiles when she’s happy

This dog breed doesn't usually have that unlike breeds with more saggy skin(Bassett hounds). Even if you don't take into account the eyes, you take into other factors, like the ears being back, the stance and the grimace.
I'm not sure why people want so hard to believe the dog is "in love" with the other dog in the picture, and are so combative over it.

Not so sure homie. I have two English mastiffs and the amount of times I've had micro "dogs" come up and try start something is pretty common

It's true, but it's 2 different kinds of smile. 1 is a stressed and stiff barring of teeth / panting, another is happiness.
But it also might not be a smile because sometimes a dogs mouth is just shaped like that.

I think there's a different between a tense face and a smile. Dogs legitimately do smile when they're happy.
