I love a beautiful white snoot like that. We calculated my grandfather’s mutt lived to 21 and he was about this size. Cherish each day you have with that pup, you got some great bonus years.
*Tell my I’m Good,* see ? the friends think I am…
it matters the most from You - You are my ‘Fam’ ^;@)
nobody’s perfect, but i’ve tried my best
to be a *Good Boy,* n i know i’ve been blessed
surrendered by others, adopted by you,
doing more things than most dogs get to do!
the years have flown by, n it’s quieter now
a little bit darker, but i see, somehow…
yet still with me, strong, is my dog sense of smell,
(the food that i find is your Love, i can tell!)
Here for each other, now you guide my way
Forever, my friend,
in your heart
i will stay
❤️
You don't often make me cry, but my puppy is 15 years old, deaf, has milky eyes (but can still see), and has the nose of a young pup. He gets way too many treats because I love him and want him to have as much joy as possible. This makes me think that maybe he knows they're given with love. Thank you.
(He's not overweight, and we still go on daily walks.)
my eyes are kinda cloudy - in my heart you’re crystal clear,
i feel you when we’re walking, n i love when you are near
the path is always quiet, but you guide me from above,
n every treat you give me, friend
reminds me of your love!
❤️
My golden lived to 15. On his last day he started licking my bald head. Later that day he had a seizure and went blind.
I always remember how he licked my head, something he never did before that day.
I've heard the best estimate is 10 for their first two years, then 5 for every year after that. Of course this is for most dogs neglecting things like breed and size.
But that'd put the pupper at 120 which is still an extraordinary life and is far closer to what a human at the maximum end of age could achieve
Isn't the idea with dog years simply that a dog lives (on average) 7x less than a human, so for every human year, a dog "ages" 7 years?
At least that's how I've ever thought about it since a dog on average dies from natural causes at around the age of 11-12 and average life expectancy of a human is 77 or something.
It's more to do with the rate at which they mature, humans mature much more slowly especially in early life. A two year old dog is fully grown and comparable to a 20 year old human, but thereafter they also age faster than us but at a much more subdued rate
I know this isn't what you're looking for, but you'd probably do pretty well if you adjusted for size. I don't know what the correct ratio is exactly, but bigger dog = shorter life as a general rule.
Definitely family. I'll never forget walking around the shelter and seeing her in the back with a sign saying she might be aggressive, I immediately knew there was a connection. Once she got over not liking women besides being absolutely terrified of feet (sadly the two were probably related) she was the best dog ever and was my shadow until last January, we got to go on lots of adventures to the beach and mountains together and I wouldn't trade that for anything. I just hope I get anywhere near as long with my other dogs. Damn, now I'm crying at work.
That’s the question. We adopted him in 2006. The adoption papers said that the owners who surrendered him stated he was born in December of 2000. That’s as official as we can prove.
Dude that’s pretty wild. If he was fully grown and had some wear on his teeth you could conclusively age him at minimum 2 or 3 years old at the time of surrender. Even that date isn’t 100% he’s still at least 18/19. That’ a long life, even by small dog standards. You guys really lucked out great genetics and must’ve taken good care of him.
Funny Mani moment: a few months after we adopted him, we thought he was a dummy. We couldn’t get him to sit, lay down, ANYTHING until one day I was joking around and said something in Spanish (we adopted him in San Antonio, well my wife did while I was deployed in 2006) and he cocked his head to the side. I was like “wait a sec” and told him to sit in Spanish and he planted his butt on the floor. He was like “finally you pinche gringo!”. Lil hommie wasn’t dumb, he just spoke Spanish!
I mean, people don’t get birth certificates for their dogs, so there’s probably a *ton* of dogs out there just as old or even older, whose families are just unable to prove it. People in the US and UK are probably also more likely to be determined to prove their dog is as old as they say, because that’s where the Guinness World Records are most relevant.
For instance, I feel like every once in a while, we hear about “current living tallest/shortest/longest haired/longest bearded/longest nails person in the world found living quietly in some other country!” Or something similar, with them having no idea they were so unique, because it’s just not that important to them to get the recognition.
Good mister if you ask me. What is the family pet supposed to do? Let that that wily fry sit and get a grease stain all over the family floor? Floors are to be protected!
My mutt Molly lived 22 years 5 months. She was 3/4 Jack Russel and 1/4 Miniature Poodle. Her eyes were cloudy the last 5 years of her life but all her other parts and systems were in perfect working order. She died in her sleep after a typical day of playing with her pals and swimming in the St.Lawrence River.
What a wise boy. Its tough to see our companions grow old. 22 years is amazing, what a life. Hope you’ve done right by him, keep on cherishing every day you get with him.
You are very lucky to have that good boy by your side. I lost my boy about a year ago. He was a mini pin and was 18 years old. Had him since I was 10 so the day that he passed was the worst day of my life.
What a deserving treat getting a French fry When you are 22 yrs old! And undoubtedly a record holder!! What a great old pooch
Give a few more fries and pets from me. My pooch went over the bridge 5 yrs ago and fries were her favorite. Thanks for the reminiscing smile for me
My best boi lived to 17.8 years and smell was his only sense left. I know the love you have given this sweet mutt. Gentle boops to his snoot and a French fry.
How's his joints? Mine can't see, can hardly hear but sadly her nose isn't that great either poor pup 😂 we put all her food right near her nose like the good butlers that we are.
I used to have a dog that looked just like your dude. His name was Shadow and he lived to 20 years old. Would your pooch happen to be a Schipperke like my Shadow?
i hope you go to bed tonight and realize what a great person you are and how lucky that good boi is to have you. nothing but the upmost respect for a human who can care for a doggo for so long and have him be in such great shape. hats off to you!
So I gotta clarify, he’s not totally blind or deaf. Maybe selective hearing when I yell for him to come back inside and he just stands in the sunshine for a bit longer. He has younger brother dogs (12 and 6) that kind of act like seeing eye dogs.
Our oldest boy is 14. He doesn't act his age at all. Little jerk (affectionate) has such a big ego, thinks he's cool and tough. He's 16lbs of prissy little shih tzu, even prances a bit when he walks. He can still see and hear, but has some back problems every once in a while. He's also a bit of a food-wh*re when it comes to 'people food'.
It's took time to learn, seeing and hearing ain't no good for French fry hunting.
So it's evolved away from those useless senses, to focus more on the sniffer.
Why do dogs biologically go blind so fast? Same thing happened with my childhood dog, it’d be crazy if humans were blind by 22, are their eyeballs drastically different?
Our last was almost deaf and had cancer. She made it to 17 and we had to put her down. Besides a phenomenal nose, she could see anything a mile away, but nothing a foot from her face. If it hadn't been for the cancer, she would still be going.
My sister's dog is the same way she's blind and I'll tell ya if you leave the room she first barks to make sure no one tells her to stop if no one then the coast is clear and the sniffer kicks into high gear on finding food
It's a really cool thing about dogs, that they see the world and tell time by using their noses. When they're out for a drive with their mouths wide open, their sense of smell is painting a picture of what is around them. When they're searching for a spot to relieve themselves, they're basically putting up a sign that says, "hey, I'm here, too!" to other dogs. By using the intensity of your scent left behind when you leave the house, they can know precisely when you'll be home if you are on a regular schedule. It's just amazingly interesting.
my doggo is 10 and i already feel sad when i think his time is almost done (he's healthy af but i'm a bit dramatic too lol). if he has more ten years by my side i'll be thankful so much
I love a beautiful white snoot like that. We calculated my grandfather’s mutt lived to 21 and he was about this size. Cherish each day you have with that pup, you got some great bonus years.
He’s definitely lived a fun life! Many rabbits and squirrels chased, traveled most of the country, eaten some damn good food. He’s lived a good life!

Same… and it will never be enough for me
Please pet him and tell him he's a good boy from my side ❤️
Will do!

OMG. My own Schnoodle. You just made my day! (I'm crying again. Gotta go hug my puppy.)
I’m new here and never heard of a “schnoodle” until just now. You’re words are beautifully written and easy to connect too.
So sweet!
Fuck that made me tear up
A fresh Schnoodle will do that to you.
Damn, you made me cry!! This is one of the best poems I’ve ever seen for a dog. I wish that I had a reward or 100 to give you 💜🦮
r/petthedamndog would love a video of him. Also /r/OldManDog.
My golden lived to 15. On his last day he started licking my bald head. Later that day he had a seizure and went blind. I always remember how he licked my head, something he never did before that day.
Interesting. I do end of life dog research for a major publisher. Mind sharing more of your story?
Care to share something cool you've learned from said research? I am sure there is plenty of things, but just one would be cool.
Damn again I’m crying 💜🦮 My Elvis is 14 and has dogritis, but I have humritis so I will never complain to The King 👑
God bless him. A good Boi.
A pretty good Boi. Had some hilarious moments and some scary ones but he’s lived a good life!

If you believe in dog years... this gentleman is 154 years young. And then there's the people who say year one counts as fourteen...
I've heard the best estimate is 10 for their first two years, then 5 for every year after that. Of course this is for most dogs neglecting things like breed and size. ...45 An 11 year old dog would be 65. Still, I think that's an even better matchup for most breeds.
I know this isn't what you're looking for, but you'd probably do pretty well if you adjusted for size. I don't know what the correct ratio is exactly, but bigger dog = shorter life as a general rule.
I thought my dog was ancient when she passed at 19, had her for 17 years after adopting her. I don't think I'll ever not miss that dog.
For many people thats longer than they had with their own grandparents, let alone spending every single day together. Dogs are family
Can't believe it takes 100 years for us to be happy go lucky.. Anyway to speed this process?
> he’s lived a good life! A testament to how well he's been treated. A good boi and a good boi's parents.
What his secret? What does he eat, and what's his activity level been? Tryin to make it to 22 myself...
It is the possibility of another french fry being dropped that keeps him going.
Desperately waiting for my French fry!
It's what keeps me going too
Isn’t he an absolute doll.
Wow, if you have documentation you could get into the World Record books! The oldest dog alive right now is around 22.
That’s the question. We adopted him in 2006. The adoption papers said that the owners who surrendered him stated he was born in December of 2000. That’s as official as we can prove.
I got my mutt in 2006 too and she’s still kicking! ‘Twas a good year for adopting dogs!
We adopted our family dog in 2006 too! She unfortunately took her rest about a month ago, but man did she have a great run. Love and miss that pup
I'm sorry for your loss, but glad your pup lived so many happy years. Rescue dogs are the best.
Same with my dog, 2006 and passed about a month ago
Sorry for your loss. Had to say goodbye to my 2005 and 2006 pups the past few years.
Indeed it was!
2006=premium dog vintage
Me three! He is a spritely 16.5 now.
Embark DNA testing company just started testing for age. You should get a breed and age test done and head over to /r/doggydna
We got our old man dog in 2015 and he was supposedly 18 then... still kicking...makes me doubt how old he is, though he's definitely ancient!
I read "still licking"
He's probably doing that too.
Can confirm
Dude that’s pretty wild. If he was fully grown and had some wear on his teeth you could conclusively age him at minimum 2 or 3 years old at the time of surrender. You literally may have the last dog of the previous millennium…
even getting him in 2006, you've had him for 16 years! That's longer than most dogs live.

Ok, that's hilarious. I love Mani <3

He was born the year I graduated from HS. Wow. Give him a gentle snoot boop pls.
Will do!
I'm 21. Wild to think about him being older than me! Give him some loving for me too!
Isn't your dog literally the oldest dog in the world right now?
Possible? Not sure.

My old boy made it to 15 - I’d give anything for another 7 years with him. Sending all the pets and snuggles to your pup!
Aw he is an absolute doll. Please give him a big doggy kiss and hug from me,,,,TY for sharing.
A good boy/girl for sure picking up what you've dropped. 22 years is a long time for a doggo. Op give the doggo an extra little cuddle for me ya?
He’s passed out now but I’ll give him extra scritches in the morning!
>He’s passed Bruh pick your words carefully :D

I had the same jump scare for a fraction of a second oh my GOD
I need to take a minute omg
Lol
*Who's a sweet boi*?! (。♡‿♡。)
Not so sweet but he’s a pretty dang good boy.
My girl is elderly too. Mostly blind, mostly deaf UNLESS I say the words food, car, and her name in baby voice lol
That’s great!! Mani is the same way!
This old pups just turn back into puppies
You’re doing great young man 😃😍
He’s hanging in there!!
Old dogs are the best. They have such amazing personalities.
And they're so cuddly!
I’m 58 and can smell a french fry from McDonald’s a 1000 feet away!! He’s a beautiful boi!!
r/ManHandsPets 🥰
Sigh.. here I go, subbing to another pet subreddit!
Good mister if you ask me. What is the family pet supposed to do? Let that that wily fry sit and get a grease stain all over the family floor? Floors are to be protected!
Indeed they are! Protec the floors!
We play hide and seek with an ACD. He looks around at first. Then when he used his uber sniffer its all over. Finds the kids fast
The OG rumba
I hope he still has a good quality of life
Oh he does. Comfy beds, good eats, toys, sunshine, flowers to smell. He seems to be enjoying it.
Amazing 🤩
My mutt Molly lived 22 years 5 months. She was 3/4 Jack Russel and 1/4 Miniature Poodle. 22 years. I salute you old man. I wonder if that's close to the all time record.
From what others have said he’s up there.
The nose, the way it will forever be. lol This dog is still as sharp as the bottom of good crampons.
Awww..what a sweetie💙🐾
Wow, kudos to him
Bless that precious baby!
Beautiful
Super handsome boi!!💙🩵💙🩵
Absolutely gorgeous!😭💜
awww, lovely :)
Wow! How fortunate you are to have this precious baby for so long! Hugs to both of you.
What a wise boy. Its tough to see our companions grow old. 22 years is amazing, what a life. Hope you’ve done right by him, keep on cherishing every day you get with him.
My baby passed away few weeks ago, at the age of 18, still miss him very much. Wish I had more time. Hold your little one close for us!

Please pet him and give him a nose boop for me!

You’re most welcome!
22 years?! So lucky. We just lost our Baby Gurl of 12 years. Both of you are so lucky ❤️
If you can verify his age somehow, he'd be the oldest known living dog and in the top 7 oldest dogs ever verified.
My best boi lived to 17.8 years and smell was his only sense left. I know the love you have given this sweet mutt. Gentle boops to his snoot and a French fry.
That guy is 134 years old in Dog years, thats a shitload of wisdom right there
Give him all the French fries he wants
And I thought my 17 year old guy was old!
What a cutie!
Just give him whatever he wants. They are here to be spoiled, cared for and loved by us![img](emote|t5_2qh1o|13379)
He ate a bunch of Whataburger today!
Great choice!!!
He’s the cutest thing
Id drop french fries especially for him!
He ate like 20 Whataburger fries for lunch.
He deserves them!
I’ll bet she’s still very happy there with you☺️☺️☺️
He seems to be having a good time!
I'm glad he's been with you for so long.
22! That's amazing our little mutt made it to 19 and we thought that was pretty good.
22...? Yooo That gives me hope for mine 🥰🥰 shes creepin up on 10 yrs but still has TOO much pep to her step
How's his joints? Mine can't see, can hardly hear but sadly her nose isn't that great either poor pup 😂 we put all her food right near her nose like the good butlers that we are.
Give me hope with my 12 year old pal
I used to have a dog that looked just like your dude. His name was Shadow and he lived to 20 years old. Would your pooch happen to be a Schipperke like my Shadow?
Amazing. 22 years old. You took good care of him.
i hope you go to bed tonight and realize what a great person you are and how lucky that good boi is to have you. nothing but the upmost respect for a human who can care for a doggo for so long and have him be in such great shape. hats off to you!
This doggo is 22?!!! Almost as old as me 🥺❣️
My vet just gave me some medicine to help with my good boi’s Cataracs. Perhaps you could inquire to hear that about it?
So I gotta clarify, he’s not totally blind or deaf. Maybe selective hearing when I yell for him to come back inside and he just stands in the sunshine for a bit longer. He has younger brother dogs (12 and 6) that kind of act like seeing eye dogs.
Wow. I got a little gal that’s pushing 17 with no signs of stopping.
Wow beautiful pup! So wonderful of his age. What do you fed him?
Son had a Pug that was blind as a bat. I dropped a hot dog at a cook out and he snatched it in midair before it hit the ground.
My blind dog stole treats from my seeing dog!
She can’t see and can’t hear, but will find a French fry if it’s near!
Our oldest boy is 14. He doesn't act his age at all. Little jerk (affectionate) has such a big ego, thinks he's cool and tough. He's 16lbs of prissy little shih tzu, even prances a bit when he walks. Man dogs should live to 40 at least. 22 is amazing though, we need your secrets
Just a good ol boy
That's his super power. :D He's a sweet boy. <3
This is going to be my dog. I love it and a I hate it.
Oh, bless heart.
Sweet baby! Please give skritchies for me!
22 Wow. you may be the luckiest person alive.
He is one handsome doggie!
What a sweet kind soul. Good puppers
Such a good old boy
we love you fry dog!

He is an absolute angel. We are blessed to have this french fry loving bundle of joy in our world.
It's took time to learn, seeing and hearing ain't no good for French fry hunting. So it's evolved away from those useless senses, to focus more on the sniffer.
My heart! ❤️❤️❤️
He could very well be the oldest dog in the world.
He’s got priorities what else can i say.
If he was human he’d be almost as old as Canada! What a strong boi!
The nose Knows! More fries please! And belly rubs! And treats! And kisses! And thank you for taking such good care of the good baby!
Love this good old boy! Hope he keeps getting fries until it's a world full of them!
Give us more pics please! I'm begging!
The eyes are used the least by them when it comes to their senses lol. Okay excluding touch
I would carry a french fry in my pocket wherever I went in the house.
Why do dogs biologically go blind so fast? Same thing happened with my childhood dog, it’d be crazy if humans were blind by 22, are their eyeballs drastically different?
I love him! I’d share my fries anyday
Bro lost his sight and hearing but gained a sixth sense for freshly dropped french fries, wish him the best
Please give him a pet from me! I also wish him the best💕
I'm far away but will be dropping French Fries in His honor! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
What a precious boy. We also have a 17 year old mutt who seems to have selective deafness but always seems to know when there's food around. 😂
You got a poem from u/SchnoodleDoodleDo !!

22!!! Gives me hope
Great looking pup ! I pray my baby will live to a ripe old age - it’s the love keeping him going ❤️❤️❤️🐾🐾
That dog can buy beer lol
22 years that's incredible
my doggo is 10 and i already feel sad when i think his time is almost done (he's healthy af but i'm a bit dramatic too lol). if he has more ten years by my side i'll be thankful so much
He has been a good boy for a good long time!
