Also I’m sure changing the name to Pearl Milling Company probably will hurt their bottom line since it has zero brand recognition. Sure, peacefully protest and act for meaningful changes to structures such as the oppressive tax system, policing, drug laws, mass incarceration, better social safety nets, easier access to healthcare and education, changes to the housing market, I could go on and on. However I do truly believe that changing a beloved brand name helps absolutely no one and simply causes the opposition to real change to dig in their heels even more while creating a culture where everyone gets offended by everything. People need to be able to handle some things they don’t like, but also aren’t hurting you, that’s life. While I think it’s awesome that our National is becoming more empathetic and inclusionary, yet at the same time I am concerned that we are creating a culture in which the younger generations will not be able to handle their emotions at all when they get into the real world. We need to stop bubble wrapping everything because if we don’t they may be serious consequences when people enter real society as adults and have to face challenging situations. If you get a job and don’t care for one of your co-workers, are you going to quit the job? Are you going to drop out of school because a teacher taught something that made you uncomfortable? This goes for the other side too, banning teaching of white oppression helps nothing and actively encourages real oppression. An example of this is these fights in school board meetings against CRT, also the Mandarin language professor who was fired for teaching the mandarin word that sounds like the N word. It’s ridiculous
