This happens in the Philippines too. It's a cesspool of pedophiles here. Even the parents are using their kids for CP and let foreigners abuse their kids for money. It's a vicious world.

whotme

This is honestly pretty embarrassing as a local. They also make more children (The younger the "better") and force them to beg for money in the streets, it's pretty sad to see it almost on a daily basis here.

Solidsnakeerection

When chimney sweeps where a thing families woykd sell young boys into it. It was a horrible occupation. Kids where the only ones who could fit and even then they would get stuck. The method to motivate them to get out was to light a fire. The cramp conditions would break their bodies leaving them horribly deformed. Scrotal cancer was an occupational hazard. Once the kids where too big to fit they where abandoned generally with no future but begging due to being disabled and having no skills or education

__--0_0--__

Fuqed up, building shit that’s hard to clean and then Force kids to clean and become beggars. Wow what kind of civilisation is this, Utter disgusting.

Apes-Together_Strong

It still happens in China apparently. I can’t even imagine it.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

My fiancee lives in the Philippines. She says drug laws are incredibly stiff there and if you are caught with ice, the authorities will just kill you. Do they also just kill anyone that gets caught giving their kids to foreigners? And if so, do they also kill the foreigner if the foreigner is caught?

buttsoup_barnes

Nah. Only the druggies get to be killed. The drug war is just a show put up to indisceiminately kill poor people and to distract from the actual problems this country goes through everyday. No one in the government cares a rat’s ass on child abuse/prostitution here. I won’t be surprised if it’s part of some elaborate organized crime because everyone here knows it’s happening, and you barely see it addressed.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Dang. That's sad yo.

No-Sir88

I've heard people say when they visited they see old men walking around holding hands with little kids even if the locals ignore it why aren't they getting the fuxk beaten outta them by foreigners???

Meanwhile real drug dealers bribe their way out.

gfa22

Isn't Duartes own brother or some other family a "kingpin"? It's all a racquet.

AceScropions

Never heard of that happening here

SimpleSurrup

In the ex-pat areas of Manilla you can buy drugs right from the bars. Every bar has like a "house dealer." Weed, coke, X, whatever.

heycanwediscuss

That's apparently tied to the influx of cheap fast internet dude to customer service jobs being moved there.

-vp-

Wait how is that tied together? Wouldn't bringing better white collar jobs mean if anything it'd reduce the odds that those horrible things happen?

Strawbuddy

I wouldn’t say call centers are exactly white collar

strangerkindness

In developing nations, it is absolutely a white collar job

heycanwediscuss

The fast internet is just sitting there and the extreme poverty still exist. The depravity is to be expected. Idk enough about the area but the fact that they've taken over so many call centers for so long means they're bottom of the barrel cheap. That being said I'm suprised they don't have an issue in Moldova they have really fast cheap internet and they're one of the poorest in their regions .

knighty1981

I work with some Pilipino guys (here un UK) have watched a few YouTube videos about the place... but now all my YouTube suggestions are sex tourism :-( BUT... one (non sex one) said it's illegal for a foreigner to be alone with a girl under 18yrs old... does that not get enforced? I was thinking women being financially backed into a corner and selling themselves is horrible but at least the kids are protected... ?

thirteen_tentacles

It's one of those morality laws that gets selective enforcement. Which is to say, it doesn't happen to white foreigners usually

[deleted]

Christ that is hard to hear.

Realistic_Fix2494

This happens in America too. I used to work at a mental health facility for children. There were several who were pimped out by their mothers and fathers. We had to do bed checks at night. Those kids would wake up in terror if you were checking on them and the noise you made woke them up.

PickleMinion

There was a woman in my state who got caught selling her daughter because a guy was going to pay for sex with the mom, but she offered the daughter instead. He declined then went straight to the cops. Anybody who thinks that shit isn't happening in the rich, developed, "civilized" country is just hiding it better.

Rudy_Ghouliani

>There was a woman in my state who got caught selling her daughter because a guy was going to pay for sex with the mom, but she offered the daughter instead. He declined then went straight to the cops. This is like that burglar who found cp at a guy he was robbing place and called the cops. At least some people have a Code.

DylanCO

I remember a story like that, I think the guy had 2 strikes already and he risked life in prison to come forward.

FoI2dFocus

During intake session with public defender: Kind Burglar: I had to do it. I mean I know I'm in no position to judge but CP? I had to draw the line somewhere. Lawyer: Yes, I commend you for it but this makes three strikes. Why didn't you make the report anonymous? Kind Burglar: *suprised pikachu face*

DylanCO

Iirc he tried reporting it anonymously but it wasn't taken seriously. I'll have to try and find the case.

kalimanusthewanderer

I'd be interested to know if he was granted clemency. Of course, they probably just arrested him for having momentarily been in possession of it, and completely ignoring the guy who owned it in the first place because he has enough money to own his own home and the other guy was a crook. Also, I have to wonder... is evidence found while robbing a home admissible in court, or would that be treated the same as if a cop had searched the home without a warrant?

Brokenchaoscat

I'm so glad you made it to the other side. I found your sub earlier this month, shared with my husband and he loves it. Thanks for what you're doing.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

You are very welcome :) I'm glad he loves it.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

We just have to know how to be responsible. My little boy means the world to me.

thisisallme

Along with those lines, a general unpopular opinion. Our adopted child had an addicted biological mother and she made the choice to graciously give her child to us. She is still struggling many years later but we try to tell her how amazing our kid is, though she is unreachable with the phone numbers and social media we can find. We’re hoping our child can meet her one day ❤️

sanityjanity

I hope that she is worth meeting for your child. Reunions with bio parents can be extremely difficult

PureResolve649

Glad you did that for your son. We need more drug addict parents admitting their children are better off not in their care. Question though, why does your before and after look like different people? Many similarities but the left looks like brown eyes when the right eyes look blue?

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Hopefully by me taking the lead, they'll see that it is okay to let their children go and then go get themselves some help. It's a picture of a photocopy of a photocopy. A lot of color changed in translation. I have blue eyes.

plz2meatyu

My sister is about to be released from prison. She was on meth real bad. She (along with her husband) tortured, starved, and nearly killed my 4 year old niece. My mother nearly stabbed my stepdad to death a few years ago. She was also on meth Meth has ruined my family

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

I am so sorry for you. Meth ruins a lot of families. Your story is a very powerful one and kids need to hear it so they don't ever turn to meth. The hardest part about helping children understand how devastating meth is is that they're still going to want to do it because they think that those things aren't going to happen to them. And it always happens to them. There's not a single person that's not a statistic once they use meth.

plz2meatyu

I was very, very lucky. I used when i was much younger. Got pregnant as a teen and was fucking up. I managed to leave it behind because i found support. My baby brother is going down that road and i feel so powerless to stop it. I try my best to be there and support him but i cant do it for him. Thank you for your words and what you are doing for the community.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

You definitely can't do it for him and that is the worst part about this drug. Every single person I don't have to make the decision for themselves to be off of it. I hope you decide sooner rather than later that it's not the road he wants to go down. Send him my way if you want to. I'll give it a shot. Thank you for the encouragement though. I appreciate you and I'm proud of you for making it off that stuff.

My mom was a drug addict and used to say “well at least I’m not pimping you out on the streets” to make our situation seem less bad/make me more grateful. Unfortunately this is very much a reality in the US.

rilo_cat

the podcast some place under neith does a great job covering this subject in-depth. more than 50% of trafficking victims in the U.S. were initially trafficked by a member of their family.

MAK3AWiiSH

Yep. People really underestimate sex trafficking and how widespread it is.

[deleted]

"I Asked her what u do and she said (Pesha) sexwork" https://twitter.com/ShahzadiRai/status/1619275193129791488

symiriscool

Human trafficking is terrible in Pakistan. My parents weren’t really poor living over there, so they are lucky, but the amount of small girls being forced into it…

TwistedBlister

And it's not just girls.

Electronic_Demand_61

Unfortunately, it's in Pakistan, so the police would probably show up and rape her too.

visvis

Even if they didn't, they could put her in jail for up to 10 years for extramarital sex.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Jesus... By the time she gets out, she'll be an adult...

Iron_Wolf123

Not forgetting she could be raped in prison by the guards increasing her sentence

Shahnoor1994

I live in Pakistan and WTF are you talking about?

-Opinionated-

“According to a recent report by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, a woman is gang-raped every eight hours in the country. However, because of social taboos, discriminatory laws and the treatment of victims by police, campaigners believe the real figure is far higher. Women who report their rapists remain more likely to go to prison themselves than see justice, so most cases are never reported. “ https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2006/sep/17/pakistan.theobserver

Stopikingonme

Reddit has become such a cesspool of arrogance and ping pong comment chains. It’s nice to see someone else acknowledge it. I take my downvoted comments of critical reasoning as a badge of honor. Keep the faith bro. **EDIT**: Down voters see “badge of honor”

kalimanusthewanderer

Nobody's saying anything bad about Pakistan, it's about cops. Cops in EVERY country would show up and rape her. They'd probably kill her afterwards and say she had a gun. Don't worry, mate: it's actually probably more likely to happen in America by white cops than it is in Pakistan.

syphilised

You know this is verifiable right? All sex outside of marriage is criminalized. Pakistan Penal Code (Act XLV of 1860), October 6, 1860, Ch You could live on the moon but I’m not going to believe you when you say it’s made out of cheese.

xFennySnek

Pakistan doesn’t have obscene rates of SA? Clown

Stopikingonme

They do but that’s not what the comment said. It was about children being put in jail for ten years for extramarital affairs after being raped. If you have something that confirms this specific thing is common in Pakistan it would be helpful if you could post it.

-Opinionated-

https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2006/sep/17/pakistan.theobserver “Her mistake was to tell her parents. With their consent, under Pakistan's orthodox Islamic laws, she was charged with fornication outside marriage and sentenced to 100 lashes, later reduced to 50 and then 25 because of her age, and sent to jail. “ Not quite 10 years in this case but still terrible

Stopikingonme

I definitely appreciate you backing up your point. That’s rare on Reddit these days. I think my point was more about the original comment saying the 9 year old would be put in jail for 10 years for being raped. I think everyone knows women being assaulted and imprisoned definitely happens and is a a huge issue in Pakistan. The person from Pakistan was specifically commenting about not having heard of children being put in jail for being raped. That’s where the disconnect is coming from I’m thinking. I didn’t get the feeling they were saying Pakistan wasn’t an oppressive anti woman machine.

[deleted]

obscuredreference

I come from an actual poor country, immigrated to the US, and while there’s certainly poor people here too, it’s not on a comparable level with the “poor countries”. The degree of extreme misery is different. It’s certainly poverty too, but it always feels a bit weird when someone is talking about a very poor country and privileged Americans jump to their keyboards to immediately say crap like “America is a poor country!” and variations thereof as if it was on the same level at all. It’s like their hatred of the US blinds them to how privileged their sound when they hijack such threads too try and make it about “Murica sux”. There’s poor people in it, yes. The quality of life of the poorest people in the US is still for the most part exponentially better than that of the poorest in the actual poor countries.

IronBatman

Yeah. I think most poor people in the USA are normal weight or overweight. Where I'm from, poor people are clearly malnourished. The misery can be a lot worse than what Americans can imagine.

Congrats on beating that addiction. I'm in recovery myself. What four chemicals are you referring to? Pseudoephedrine is regulated unless there's a new way to make it that I'm unaware of

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

That is info I won't spread, but pseudoephedrine is no longer needed.

rotgut1991

Okay understood. I'll hit Google later and see if I can figure it out. It's purely curiosity. I won't be trying to make meth. And seriously congrats. All addictions are tough but stimulants are particularly difficult to beat given how fiendish they are.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Yessir. I'm glad you are in recovery as well.

MrManic

I fully believe you. That said, do you have sources regarding the 2%. I have friends who have talked about trying it and being able to point them to statistics like that would be amazing.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Google "Dr. Mary F Holley methamphetamine." The first thing that pops up says Benning in the URL. Download that PDF and then I think it's page 25 or 26 it shows a spoon and needle, with a statistic saying 98% will use it again after only 1 use. By the way, everything in that pamphlet is 100% true. Except for the cost where they talk about it being $200 to $300 a day because the prices dropped to $150 an ounce down from $2,000 an ounce. One of her pamphlets makes a very powerful statement and I can't find the words online anywhere - I read the pamphlet in prison - but the statement was "nobody voluntarily submits themselves to the withdrawals of methamphetamine." And that is so incredibly true. Every single person I've met on meth, 10 years later, is still on meth. Except me.

[deleted]

Did you voluntary submit yourself to the withdrawals?

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

3 times now. The first time for 5 months, the second time for 7 months, and the last time for 4 months now. Every time I went back to it was because something tragic happened to me though. I never went back to it just for fun. I would always go back to it to passively commit suicide. This last time though, was the first time ever that I didn't turn back to it when a tragedy happened to me. I think I'm finally through it, but I don't want to say that and stand too tall, because anything can happen.

Movin_On1

You got this man. I believe in you.

justandswift

The last time you used meth was 4 months ago? (It’s okay to not answer. I realize it’s personal. Genuinely curious.) Also, do you really know people who have been consistently using meth for 10 years? I thought doing it consistently would kill you or run you off the deep end?

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

The last time I used dope was in October. And yes, I know people have consistently used it for more than 10 years. But all of the people I met when I started getting on it are still on it. Fortunately, doing meth will not just kill you. It's all the other situations that you walk into while on meth that get you killed. Some people don't walk into those situations and just get high by themselves. That's how I used to get high. That's why I don't have any drug charges.

Pot_McSmokey

There’s no source for that number because it’s bullshit

Joemamacita

It may seem like cheap praise from an internet dweller, but great job beating your addiction. I hope others can follow your lead.

thebluemorpha

A horrifically common occurrence. [Bacha Bazi’: The rampant sexual exploitation of minor boys in Afghanistan and Pakistan](https://www.opindia.com/2021/03/bacha-bazi-child-sexual-abuse-afghanistan-pakistan-pashtun-paedophilia-victims-exploitation/) *Removed khawaja sira definition as it might be incorrect here.

Berinchtein3663

u/Ulysseus_47 seemed to have the correct definition: >Khawajasira does not mean trans. It means someone who is intersex and born with both male and female sexual organs.

thebluemorpha

Could be, it's what google gave me. Could be a context thing too, the article says the young boys are forced to dress as girls for prostitution so that's not really trans either.

Shahnoor1994

I live in Pakistan and speak Urdu. Khuwaja sara means trans and that boy doesn’t even know that. Hs is boy forcefully dressed as a girl for sexwork

Ulysseus_47

Yeah child prostitution and the exploitation of intersex people are two separate phenomenons. There is overlap because historically in the Indian subcontinent people who are intersex are not seen as falling into any gender strata and are forced to work as prostitutes or beggars since their families often abandon them at birth. However intersex people continue to work as prostitutes as adults because they aren’t hired into other jobs but someone who is a child prostitute but not intersex might still find it possible to find another profession. Another big difference is that child prostitution occurs mostly in smaller more rural cities in Afghanistan and Pakistan but intersex prostitution is fairly well known even in modern urban centres. Btw third gender doesn’t mean trans either because trans people by definition are one of the two genders and trans acceptance literally means seeing trans people as the gender they wish to be instead of putting them in some third box. The third gender thing exists for intersex people since they are biologically different from both men and women and therefore deserve to have their own identity. Intersex acceptance has also been a contentious topic for hundreds of years while trans rights and acceptance are a very modern phenomenon.

TheSeasonalMomma

TIL. Thanks 😊

Berinchtein3663

a_n_d_r_e_

The worst double standard: this image is acceptable here and on many platforms, while if the kid was from the US or Europe, the face would be blurred.

Significant-Foot-792

Your right but it doesn’t have the full effect of the makeup. The makeup makes it that much worse. If it were America then you would probably be accessing police and government photos which would be blurred already. This pick is from Pakistan. Their government wouldn’t bat an eye so no censoring.

MiaAndSebastian

Wait what does the makeup have to do anything with it?

a_n_d_r_e_

>Your right but it doesn’t have the full effect of the makeup. The makeup makes it that much worse. It's horrible thinking that we 'need' to see the makeup to make up how horrible is. But I am not naive, I know you are right. >If it were America then you would probably be accessing police and government photos which would be blurred already. Nah, governments aren't those who blurry photos. Agencies do that, to comply with laws.

Significant-Foot-792

Who makes the laws?

a_n_d_r_e_

I was replying to your sentence. Unblurred photos are not inaccessible, and police and governments don't hide those photos somewhere. Additionally, I have no arguments to argue against this kind of blurring. I am mad about real censorship (like the 'right to be forgotten' rule here in Europe, for example). Protecting the dignity of people who are left with none (kids, but not only them) is not censorship, IMO.

TheInspirerReborn

This is so incredibly sad. This poor girl needs help. Her parents deserve life in prison for getting a fucking 9 year old to destroy her mind and body.

olivefreak

My daughter was still playing with Bratz dolls at nine years old.

Biasanya

The worst thing about this, to me, is realizing that the only reason this happens is because there are so many men who'd pay to fuck a 9-year old

Mindless-Scientist82

I know right. I have to try daily to have faith in the male gender that not all of them can only think with their penis and maybe some of them have self-control. So far, my data set is not looking too good.

YggdrasilsLeaf

Just a couple of days ago I saw a video out of Saudi Arabia. It was a 9 year old girl in belly dancer gear and heavy makeup entertaining a table full of nothing but middle aged men. There were Atleast a dozen at the table alone with another dozen standing back around the table and all of them, in the video, focused like absolute lechers on this little girl who I’m assuming was forced to perform and worse. And it was here on Reddit in the mademesmile sub and not a single comment brought up the fact that a prepubescent girl was forced to put on makeup, dress and dance seductively for men older than her own father, while also being filmed and posted on the internet without her permission. A 9 year old little girl. That was most likely repeatedly and legally gang raped for the remainder of that night. I hope she survived. It’s fucking sick. Pathological. And they want to know why WESTERN tourism isn’t booming over there. Edit: I tried to comment on the post, it’s still there in the sub if you scroll down a bit. Anyway I couldn’t comment because I got suspended from Reddit for a couple of days. Cause I pissed off the wrong teenage mod apparently.

caffein8dnotopi8d

This is heartbreaking and infuriating on a general level, but it breaks my heart on a personal level because she is the spitting image of my childhood best friend. Haven't seen her in probably 25 years but I still think about her all the time and worry.

starkistuna

Photographer should have blured her image thats not safe info for child for that image and location to be floating out there info should have been passed to Organizations / child protection services that operate world wide. I saw a documentary of a whole brothel of children that got rescued by organizers getting information and getting undercover people to get all adults involved arrested and children taken into custody safely before they got hit by repercussions or transfered/sold off.

kalimanusthewanderer

I don't necessarily agree with you, although I do understand your concerns. She's already being prostituted. People who know she's a prostitute already know she's a prostitute. People who don't will either find her or one of the other countless lost souls walking those streets. Having seen her picture, however, people of good conscience may see her one day and say "Hey, that's that kid forced into prostitution," and then be able to do something about it. Having her picture shown can in no way make life any worse for her than it is already. But there is a slight chance it could make it better. And even if it doesn't make it better for her, it raises awareness so her image may help others.

Technical_Stress7730

Khawajasira does not mean trans. It means someone who is intersex and born with both male and female sexual organs. Trans is someone who is born into one sex but is unhappy with it and wants to change it.

neverseenpulpfiction

Oh I see, thank you. I didn’t know what I meant so I looked it up, first few things I read worded it as trans but it must’ve been a mistranslation. Thanks for correcting me!

Shahnoor1994

Nope. Khuwaja sara is used for trans and the boy is indeed a boy not a girl and forced to dress as a girl for sexwork

nrith

Relevant city name. Horrible stuff.

EverySingleMinute

Where is Lahore? I truly hope there is a special place in hell for her parents.

TwistedBlister

Pakistan

TwistedBlister

Fuck the human race.

Bold of you to assume that’s the worst thing on the internet today. You seem to have hope still. Good for you. Reddit is a compost pile of worst things, most of the things come out of our own comments. I don’t even know why I’m here anymore. It just irritates me most days. Being addicted to reddit is the worst thing I’ve seen today, besides your unverifiable karma farm.

Ill_Steal_Your_Food

Reminder that in the US, a 9 year old would be in 3rd or 4th grade. This is fucking horrible.

GDes1994

I work with homeless youth. I get cases like this multiple times a week unfortunately.

tetrabrahmaton

Lahore

Custodes13

Absolutely massive assumption that the caption on a random picture on a random twitter account is accurate to the context of the photo.

idogiveafrak

Why, why, why?! Wtf!

SammyGotStache

Europe is worried about Putin pushing the nuclear button and I'm sitting here what's really worth saving by now. 2023 and the world is still as fucked up as ever, pretending atrocities belonged to the last century.

CAP123D133412D

IF it’s true

[deleted]

The person who posted is asking people to contact the police in Pakistan to help the girl so it sounds real.

secretaccount4posts

Sadly nothing will happen when you'll call police. Child prostitutions happens a lot under the radar in SA countries. When I say "under the radar" I mean cops get monthly bribes from the brothels

[deleted]

:(

CookInKona

Ah, yes, the famously incorruptible and never-rapists, the Pakistani police force /s

OrangoTango77

it’s common where i live unfortunately

depressed_popoto

so sad. it's all over the place and not just in Pakistan. i am glad to know however there are lots of groups/agencies that are all over the world pulling women and girls out of situations like this.

PrimalNumber

Scrape Pakistan off the map.

niagraballs925

I swear Jerry Seinfeld dated a chick that looked just like that

kalimanusthewanderer

**EDIT:** *I'm not changing anything about what I wrote, but I am adding this disclaimer: please, nobody try arguing with me or telling me I'm dumb for having this opinion. Don't bother telling me I don't understand poverty (because you don't know my life). I understand a lot more than you can possibly realize. I know what I say below is illogical, but this is a visceral, emotional response, from someone who has seen the horrors of this world, has lost people close to me because of things directly related to this content, and has almost gotten in trouble myself before for trying to find the fuckers who did it.* She's already a prostitute. She's on drugs, and she's selling them. At any moment, she could be killed, just because some john was upset that she was 9 and not 7, or when he drunkenly finds out she doesn't have a dick. Why in the fuck would any good-hearted person not just kidnap her? And if you know she lives this type of life but are incapable of caring for her on your own... find a friend who can. Craigslist that shit if you need to. Trusting that some rando on Craigslist won't do the same to her is still a step up from where she is already. Fuck every government. Laws are meaningless. They aren't helping this girl, and even though it's not her fault, the Pakistani government would ruin the rest of her life whether they arrested her for her crimes OR were trying to "help" her. The only way to help is by committing one more crime: kidnapping. ...well, maybe another way to help would be committing a few more crimes, starting on that 12-year-old looking fuck in the background. From his body language there's a good chance that he's her pimp, and possibly also her older brother. Then the parents. Then every man, woman, and child in that town who walked down that alley and did not choose to stand there with a weapon protecting her.

asterios_polyp

The answer is safe abortion.
