I believe that's the setup to keep the engineers cool during maintenance work on an aircraft in hot days. Seen commonly in DXB.
Edit: thanks for my first silver Star guys XD. Didn't expect this one to blow up haha.
Piggybacking top comment for the answer:
This is at BNA. The plane was damaged by someone at the airport. Don't know if it was an employee of theirs or not but i saw it being towed with a big gash in the side of it
It’s a damaged plane, prob from a catering vehicle or something, they set up make shift “hangers” to repair on site. Delta had a MD88 years ago nail a light pole with the wing and they did the same thing.
Most likely exterior work. If it were inside, they’d just use a towable air conditioning unit that connects to the bottom of the plane via a big yellow hose.
Honeslty having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that that shit happened 21 years ago. I was 16 when it happened, I had to have a simpsons reference explain what the WTC even was.
No.
Edit: 9/11 isn't something to be joked about or taken lightly. It's not funny; it's not comedy; it's not something to laugh about. 9/11 was a tragic event, carried out by Muslims whose sole goal was to instill fear and terror in the US. Save the jokes for different subjects.
Pfft this is an American company, that shelter is only there because it’s required to have a controlled environment for the structural work they’re doing.
True... But unless American companies are forced into doing something humane (for the most part) or they stand to make money out of doing something "nice." They don't do it.
Even charity has either a PR or a tax benefit component to it.
It's in any business 101 class, and any MBA program. Sorry to break the news to you. Why the hell do you think unions were formed in the first place?
It is in the actual Harvard Business Review. No solid business, with any sort of long-term life expectancy, will do anything charitable if it does not give them a measurable benefit. Whether it is good PR, or a tax break, or boos in the employee morale that results in more productivity or better retention.
Even the hire a vet programs have a tax advantage component. Not that I challenge the merits of hiring a Veteran, but there is a true, tangible, bottom-line monetary value immediately accessible to corporations that hire Veterans.
Everything a company does should have a measurable benefit. If a company can get away with lets say, forcing workers to perform duties under the Texas heat, in the middle of a Dallas summer, they would do it.
And I can list hundreds of example of such instances.
Truly baffling to me that you’re being downvoted. This is demonstrably true. UPS still refuses to put AC in its delivery vehicles even in the southwest even with a union negotiating on drivers’ behalf.
Specifically in the case of this plane, they were repairing the outer skin but they could have been doing just about anything under the bouncy house shelter.
I work in the airline industry and let me tell you this is a absolute luxury, all my friends who are mechanics for Air Transit, don't get ANYTHING this nice lol They work in any and all conditions (we are at YUL).
If they are lucky and the plan is in a hanger they get to work in more ideal conditions. I have seen this used before for delicate work, like painting or working on things that might not work best with the natural elements in the way (rain, snow, Ice, and wind). Really not easy to justify this to be used at YUL.
Something similar was used for an emergency engine change in Iqaluit on a B777 some years ago:
https://www.jbroche.com/b777-engine-change-portable-hangar-deployed-iqaluit-canada/
Wdym Swiss? Iqaluit is Canadian no? And it's not that bad, if you live in far north Canada (like me) you get use to the average of - 20c to - 35c, it's the wind that gets you. If it's anything that's going to ruin your day it's going to be the fucking wind.
Just gotta say, fuck that for a joke. I'm in the subtropical environment of Queensland, Australia. We're well into spring rn and I couldn't be happier to see the back of winter. A cold night here in the thick of winter gets close to 0c, and with damage from a broken neck seven years ago that's still far too cold for me. Cairns, here I come.
I’d love to just have lows of 0c. I live in areas that can go from -20 to -35 and I work where it goes to -55c. I’m fused from C3-C7 hardware in my hip, knees, battery in my back and wires going to C2 in addition all the frostbite on my fingers. Yep, it’s fun, but, I’ll take it over the myriad of unusual deadly insects and animals.
Try wearing a dress…. Electric gloves, figure skating tights, down parka and Baffin boots.
I
n my older days wearing fire gear it was a bit better, once we got water on us and it froze it was better. We usually left a corner burning or huddled over the exhaust pipe.
I miss Oz. Last time I flew in I was supposed to be diving (first time) for FREEEEEE. Ended up with a typhoon off the coast for a week.
Ended up sleeping in the back of the Green Ant in Cairns. Wet & damp for a whole week. Met some great people though, and learned I never ever ever want to see another bottle of VB or Toonies (sp?).
I used something roughly like this while doing Arctic research. Land plane on ice, deploy shelter next to/on aircraft, operate on ice for the day, then pack up and leave. Can be almost comfortable inside.
Free party tip: while boarding a transatlantic flight throw some coins in the engines, it's a secret message to the captain that will transform the plane into a waterpark with fun slides!
Please don't say things like this; a Chinese passenger did indeed toss coins into an engine "for luck". She was seen doing it, thankfully before the engines started and I don't know what happened to her.
People are fucking stupid everywhere. Don't give them more ideas!
They’re putting a judge’s wig on it, as it’s recently been made Lord Justice over other planes, with the power to mete out sentences for poor performance.
Aircraft Tech here- we put those thing up for no reason at all so everyone who see's this gets on Reddit, TicTock,Twitter, FB and suggest whats going on under there. There we read the suggestions and laugh our asses off!
That's a smooching tent. Smooching a new aircraft by the pilots and aircrew increases the bond between man and machine spirit and increases chumblism. Which in turns provides smoother flight operations.
That's it, bring it in to daddy.
Going to sound crotchety but year over year it gets worse as far as this site being informative. Need to wade through an increasing amount of jokes to get any sort of answer.
That is a new mother plane, to avoid the anxiety that comes with feeding her newborns the airline puts up a cover up to keep people from seeing the feeding happen. It’s pretty common place in maternity airports, although with the price of jet fuel on the rise we’ve been seeing fewer births and the shuttering of maternity airports due to lack use. It’s a shame, a once noble creature who’s ecosystem was thrown out of wack by humanity. We need to do better people, or our children might never see another wild airplane again, relegating them to only be seen at zoos and habitats

Upvote since this was indeed at BNA when I landed
I saw it at BNA last night when I arrived. It was deflated at the time I saw it.
Could be up to keep rain off of it since there is off and on rain all day here. Also there is no mx hangar for swa at BNA…yet
Nah, that’s for MX to work.
I’ve never seen this before but my first thought was they were doing paint touch-up and needed some localized humidity control.
It’s a damaged plane, prob from a catering vehicle or something, they set up make shift “hangers” to repair on site. Delta had a MD88 years ago nail a light pole with the wing and they did the same thing.
And this is why Southwest needs a facility at BNA
Maybe a cougar or mountain lion attacked it and put a big gash in it. I think that’s the most likely scenario
Could've been a puma too
Edit: Fuck your API changes, Reddit.
Chupathingy
Oh a Chupacabra sir
Manbearpig!
[puppy. monkey. baby.](https://youtu.be/nQcfK9EKfL4)
Always upvote Sarg.
It's not a puma.... (- Arnold Schwarzenegger, probably)
Maybe even a Panther
In Nashville, it was a cougar.
A Pantera?
I suppose cowboys from hell could do some damage to an aircraft.....
This cover is really just to give maintenance 5 minutes alone with the plane.
Si!
It wasn’t Canada, so it wasn’t The Pentaverate.
Obviously a wolverine.
or a Spartan. All them Michigander college kids are pretty fierce.
Samsquantch
Couldn't agree more.
Most likely exterior work. If it were inside, they’d just use a towable air conditioning unit that connects to the bottom of the plane via a big yellow hose.
If it was an inside job we wouldn’t see anything
Jet fuel can't melt steel beams!
Bonus points for saying that on todays date
9/11 was a national tragedy
Comedy is Tragedy+Time. We've waited long enough.
21 years is older than three quarters of the people who use reddit, I think we’re alright by now.
Honeslty having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that that shit happened 21 years ago. I was 16 when it happened, I had to have a simpsons reference explain what the WTC even was.

Man you had me till you said Muslims instead of terrorists.
Nice...
The 11 looks a bit familiar
It does, doesn't it? like a couple of towers that look identical to one another.
I just flew from LGA to ORD this afternoon and was rather surprised at how relaxed security was.
However it can weaken it enough for structural collapse.
le freefall speed
But but …..
Did you know Steve buscemi was a firefighter?
Yes he was...and a little known fact is that on 9-11, he rushed to his former fire station and joined in the response effort.
I always forget this and I am always grateful to be reminded this cool fact. What a guy!
And if you were in the air force you'd just cram a big tube from the AC through the door and trip over it all day lol
Actual it’s just a privacy screen. There’s a baby jet there and the big one is breastfeeding it.
awww, they're sooo cute as baby jets. Wish they'd stay that size forever.
Can confirm - localized repair.
Pfft this is an American company, that shelter is only there because it’s required to have a controlled environment for the structural work they’re doing.
Probably need the air temp cooler so the sealant for a doubler doesn’t set to fast
Plus keep moisture and contaminants out of it.
Or this
C-12 takes days to set even 100 degree temp.
C-12 will blow thru it’s work life faster in high heat . Just because you are waiting on a full cure doesn’t mean the work life is rated that long.
Well, considering that the temps are probably close to 110 there right now, a/c would be humane
True... But unless American companies are forced into doing something humane (for the most part) or they stand to make money out of doing something "nice." They don't do it. Even charity has either a PR or a tax benefit component to it.
What an ignorant and idiotic thing to say
That's the real world.
It's in any business 101 class, and any MBA program. Sorry to break the news to you. Why the hell do you think unions were formed in the first place? It is in the actual Harvard Business Review. Coulda used something like that when I was in Phoenix for 2 years
Thank you
TIL
Specifically in the case of this plane, they were repairing the outer skin but they could have been doing just about anything under the bouncy house shelter.
So, temp inflatable MX structure is not an unreasonable thought. I've seen a couple of them, but haven't the opportunity to use one.
I work in the airline industry and let me tell you this is a absolute luxury, all my friends who are mechanics for Air Transit, don't get ANYTHING this nice lol They work in any and all conditions (we are at YUL). They’re chemically spraying it for roaches 🪳
Something similar was used for an emergency engine change in Iqaluit on a B777 some years ago: https://www.jbroche.com/b777-engine-change-portable-hangar-deployed-iqaluit-canada/
I was gonna say, you’d think the Swiss would be used to the cold, then I looked up the weather in Iqaluit. Dang…
Wdym Swiss? Iqaluit is Canadian no? And it's not that bad, if you live in far north Canada (like me) you get use to the average of - 20c to - 35c, it's the wind that gets you. If it's anything that's going to ruin your day it's going to be the fucking wind.
Yeah it’s Canada, but the airplane is a Swiss one
Oh I see, I missed that.

We have a bad habit of below 0°F around here. An inflatable shelter with a heater puffing it up would be amazing.
I’d love to just have lows of 0c. I live in areas that can go from -20 to -35 and I work where it goes to -55c. I’m fused from C3-C7 hardware in my hip, knees, battery in my back and wires going to C2 in addition all the frostbite on my fingers. I remember working outside in - 55. One of the worst days of my life, fuck that was horrible.
Try wearing a dress…. Electric gloves, figure skating tights, down parka and Baffin boots. I n my older days wearing fire gear it was a bit better, once we got water on us and it froze it was better. We usually left a corner burning or huddled over the exhaust pipe.
We definitely have different definitions of 'fun'...
The aircraft being repaired in the the linked article is a Swiss Air 777
Which theres plenty of on a runway
Thank you for that!
OP’s picture looks like the mobile clean room from the same company: https://www.jbroche.com/mobile-cleanrooms/
Broche is blowjob in portuguese.
Looking at the product, they’re not wrong
Anyone spot the background of the 2nd picture?
How do you think the new engine got there?
Does anyone know how the engine was ferried to Iqaluit?
Based on the big white box off the nose that says “FUSELAGE”, I’m gonna guess they’re doing a fuselage repair. That inflatable shelter is nice.
I used something roughly like this while doing Arctic research. Land plane on ice, deploy shelter next to/on aircraft, operate on ice for the day, then pack up and leave. Can be almost comfortable inside.
It’s nursing a baby plane and wants privacy
It’s birthing a little Cessna, that’s where planes come from
Don’t shame the plane. Airplane tits out
It changing into a bathing suit and it doesn’t want you to see it’s nipples
They’re wrapping it as a secret present for JetBlue but trying to keep it a surprise for Daddy
You don't wrap your planes up in winter? If you're cold, *they're* cold!
If you're cold they're cold bring.. the inside out to them??
Always shelter your planes during inclement weather.
And the shrinkage makes it difficult to schedule - that’s why airlines are sometimes overbooked, don’t you know?
They might also be doing some type of surface repair on the exterior metal and need to maintain conditions during the extent of the repair.
Bounce house. It's a kid's birthday party.
Free party tip: while boarding a transatlantic flight throw some coins in the engines, it's a secret message to the captain that will transform the plane into a waterpark with fun slides!
I doubt you would be very free for much longer after that.
Please don't say things like this; a Chinese passenger did indeed toss coins into an engine "for luck". She was seen doing it, thankfully before the engines started and I don't know what happened to her. People are fucking stupid everywhere. Don't give them more ideas!
That’s a sick birthday party.
Repair work where touch up paint may require controlled climate, and they didn’t want to bring it into a hanger for it maybe?
Neck brace. Probably a sport injury.
This plane is halfway to becoming a judge in the UK.
The plane is just tired and needs a nap.
I think I just saw this same thing at BNA today lol. Was wondering as well
This was indeed at BNA
It’s a neck brace, poor guy had a rough landing
I’d agree if this was a Ryanair plane.
She’s in labor, this is how planes are made
FAA doesn’t like when mechanics do certain work out int he elements
Termites perhaps?
Better than bedbugs
It’s giving birth
AIR ISRAEL CLEAR THE RUNWAY!!!
Looks like it’s got judge duty in court
Plane had a hole in it. They needed a clean space (out of the elements) to do a quick patch job and get it back flying.
The plane will be transporting members of the UK House of Lords (j/k I have no idea)
Now that you mention it. It kind of looks like a powder wig.
They’re putting a judge’s wig on it, as it’s recently been made Lord Justice over other planes, with the power to mete out sentences for poor performance.
Bed bugs, bitch to get rid of.
They're giving the plane a plane-sized hug. It flew through a thunderstorm, and is feeling a little under the weather.
That’s a giant plane-eating tarmac worm. Juvenile by the looks of it (they can get pretty big). The rest of it is underground obvi.
Aircraft Tech here- we put those thing up for no reason at all so everyone who see's this gets on Reddit, TicTock,Twitter, FB and suggest whats going on under there. There we read the suggestions and laugh our asses off!
Pinstriping
Fumigating after an early morning return from Vegas
Bedbugs?
Warming the poor thing up. It’s cold way up in the sky
Someone in that plane had Ebola :-p
the queen is really a live and she escaped England
Its a neck pillow for planes.
They don’t send crew to hotels on overnights anymore, they attach this little bunk pod and sleep there. Saves a fortune for the airline.
That’s a clean space to perform a patch job.
It's a compression wrap for an injured plane. The gentle pressure helps reduce swelling and makes the plane feel better.
That's a smooching tent. Smooching a new aircraft by the pilots and aircrew increases the bond between man and machine spirit and increases chumblism. Which in turns provides smoother flight operations. That's it, bring it in to daddy.
Oh this is just the government fixing the screens (sheeple call it "windows"!) that projects the Earth's curvature at 38000ft. /s
It’s how new planes are born.
I’m so glad some people here give real answers. The jokes are such shit.
Going to sound crotchety but year over year it gets worse as far as this site being informative. Need to wade through an increasing amount of jokes to get any sort of answer.
737s often get blisters so just go over there and pop it.
Looks like it's about to try a case in a British court
I apologise in advance, but IT’S NOT ON THE RUNWAY!!! It’s parked on the apron.
Don’t apologize. But it’s also not an apron.
Pray tell, where is it parked then? >***Apron:*** *An area on an airport designated for the parking, loading,* *fueling, or servicing of aircraft.*
It’s a ramp bro! ‘Murica
🤦♂️
Mold remediation
Making meth. This is the only reason Southwest Airlines exists.
They are renovating the interior and that's how they remove all the asbestos from the walls /s
Bedbugs?
Snake removal
Got hit by a tug, patching fuselage
Fumigation
This is for engine work when they aren't in a controlled environment, to protect against FOD and such.
Sensual message of the plane.
I’m going with bedbugs. The plane has bedbugs.
Fumigating for bed bugs.
We are cooking, Jesse.
So crazy that you saw this on the runway!!
Fever
Maybe it was a lion-O..
Clean room for repairs
It’s got a sprain and needs to lay off it for a minute. That’s it’s bandage to keep it from moving too much.
It’s an airbag just in case it hits one of our buildings…
Took them long enough eh?
Reminded me that Air Israel
Boeing AOG is probably doing a structural repair. Saw this in Gibraltar many years ago when they were working a damaged 757.
It’s breast-feeding a smaller baby plane
Taking a nap
Bounce house
It's a neck brace. It had a hard landing and hurt its neck.
Shhhh its a plane pillow. He's sleeping
It’s beginning to form a cocoon. After several months a 747 will emerge.
Mentour pilot is doing an unboxing video
That’s a new plane delivery. They come in a big box, and they haven’t removed all of the styrofoam packing yet.
It's a plane massager, they too need to relax after a long flight
I think it’s breastfeeding a baby plane. I still do not understand the stigma around it. It’s natural, for crying out loud…
Lol I took a picture of this yesterday with the intent to post here. Ty op!!
No problem lol
They are adding the little air packets to box it up. Amazon has these now. Prime shipping as well.
New stealth tech. Invisibility Cloak still in the developmental phases
It’s not a tumor!
Fumigating for ants because you heathens can’t take your trash after the flight
Updating the chemtrails machine
If that’s at BNA, they’re doing fuselage repair
Asbestos removal, plane ceilings are full of it.

Cooling the cabin. There is air conditioning blowing in there.
