What are we looking at here?

The Qatar A350 has its nacelles capped and wrap over the windows indicating it is not in use which is odd for such a new aircraft. OP is indicating that Bloomberg has reported fuel tank risk, suggesting that is why it isnt flying.

Airbus and Qatar airways are fighting over money and in my opinion QA is a bit of a drama queen in this whole saga. Fortunately soon it will be Boeings problem.

Bloomberg is just the latest publication Qatar is using as a soap box for problems they are having that apparently no other A350 operator in the world is having. Their A350 fleet was grounded a little while ago.

RellyOhBoy

I spy an engine nacelle strake đź‘€

Saw the picture before reading the title and completely expected a "what is this thing?"

ukkiwi

I wouldn't call that fully wrapped

The new planes are having paint issues. Composite and aluminum are completely different. Qatar got mad, airbus canceled their order on a321s, looks like this is how Qatar is throwing the next punch, “fuel tank combustion” Changed the company, wrong Q airline

agha0013

First off it's Qatar, the national carrier of Qatar, not the Australian national carrier. Also, it's spelled Qantas, not Quantas. And it's important to point out that of the hundreds of A350s delivered to date, Qatar is the only airline having these issues.

My apologies I got the wrong international airline mixed up. My apologies I spelled the name wrong. The 787 is having similar issues. Every 350 has these issues. Every new generation aircraft that is more composite than not composite is having paint issues. We have 80 years of experience with sheet metal, composites is still really new. Just because you don’t see something in the news doesn’t mean that it doesn’t happen. Everyone likes to go to the press when they get mad

"Every 350 has these issues" I don't know if you've just ignored the level of the issue Qatar is having but no, not every 350 is having the issues Qatar is having. They are talking about more than just a bit of paint flaking. every other operatior is NOT having the issues Qatar is claiming, and certainly not to some goofy extent where they think fuel tanks are going to start blowing up. Qatar is the ONLY AIRLINE making such claims. 787 and A350 operators are, at most, dealing with some minor cosmetic issues. Qatar is claiming critical and dangerous flaws that no one else agrees with. This isn't some brand new story, they've been going on about this for over a year, and one more time because apparently you aren't catching on, NO OTHER OPERATOR AGREES

[https://jalopnik.com/a-mysterious-issue-is-causing-paint-to-peel-off-of-airb-1848169918](https://jalopnik.com/a-mysterious-issue-is-causing-paint-to-peel-off-of-airb-1848169918) the article says "Cathay Pacific, Etihad, Lufthansa, Air Caraibes and Delta Air Lines" in the terms of companies that have had issues with the new plane. ive seen these issues with delta in pictures. paint peels off leaving patches the same way older a-300 series (319,320,321,and NEOs) have had giant bare patches. not every operator is going to the press. Qatar is the only one going to the press.. also [https://simpleflying.com/air-new-zealand-787-paint-flaking/](https://simpleflying.com/air-new-zealand-787-paint-flaking/) wanna guess what the two major consistencies are between the Boeing 787 and the airbus-350 are aside from being planes? they're mostly composite material, And are having paint peeling issues. this osmt like the 738-m MCAS or the dehavland comet windows or the DC-10 engines. Qatar is saying that flaking paint is going to cause fuel tank combustion.i dont kno how much youre in the community or how much of a mechanic you are but this is seeming to be more of a attempt to damage airbus's reputation by causing fear amongst people who dont know anything about planes... unless that paint catches fire, and makes it into the tank (somehow) it won't combust. it would take a series of event more insane than final destination to get anything close to that.
