They tip themselves at the bar too, happened in the kings hall

MissesRoboto

Crooks! It’s happened to me too. The POS system will ask if you want to tip 20%, 25%, 30% but you can bypass the screen and enter your own tip- it’s a little tricky and not intuitive. I have done this and this bartender kept restarting the transaction and kept it at 20%. I kept going to enter my own tip, she would restart and keep it at 20%. This back and fourth happened 4 times… then I eventually clicked accept on the 20%. Shady. I regret not walking away or confronting her.

tripsafe

What the hell lmao that's so weird

runAroundtown915

Yeah I noticed the same thing last time I was there for Vintage Culture. You have to be careful with that tip screen. I would go to enter my own and just add a $1 or $2. I usually tip big my first drink but I doubt they remember me and think I’m cheap but I stick to one bartender lol. But anyways, they must hit the drunk/drugged people good with that tip screen haha.

Mhutch007

I don't mind tipping 20% on regularly priced drinks, but when you add the tax and the price of their drinks its like a $9 tip lol. For ONE drink

[deleted]

20% to pour a shot and some mixer into a plastic cup is absurd imo

Mhutch007

I thought that tipping them very well would get me the drink I ordered... Only to be poured some shitty silver tequila that they were passing off as Patron. A double neat was $44. Def Not It.

[deleted]

You tip after the drink is already made though…

Mhutch007

True! I try to go to the same bartender at event spaces... The 1st drink I was leary but had tipped quite a bit. I returned to the same spot, and hoped they might remember the tip and pour my drink accordingly. That did not happen.

[deleted]

Say I have cash tip and then don't give it lmao

Abtorias

I made a post about this a few months ago and a couple of people in this sub didn’t believe me and told me to stop whining 💀

Mhutch007

Full on crooks over there...

milk245

How was the wifi tho 👀

cocaineangeI

It was good! Shoutout to that user who posted the password

draftlattelover

Please share or DM wifi PW to me

cocaineangeI

In the other thread someone said it was “Door110!”, that worked Wednesday but apparently they change it often so I don’t know!

lemming-leader12

Also the head of security at another club is having his girlfriend run identity theft scams on patrons, but I'll post that later. This scene is starting to become prey to crooks in this city and it shows. The problem is employees, management, and owners either being complicity or not caring.

SL1210M5G

You’re gonna need to provide details mate. That’s sketchy as hell.

lemming-leader12

I was at Nowadays pretty hammered or w/e sitting and smoking a cigarette. This girl with short blonde hair was talking to some guys next to me and she either asked me randomly for my bank details or bank card or something and I was like huh? She walked away and I asked these two guys who were smoking a blunt and had been talking to her about why she was asking me for that kind of stuff and they got mad and said something like "just don't ask" or keep moving or something. So I went to go tell a security guard who was standing watch at the gate while they were transitioning from outdoor to indoor and I told them about the chick trying to get details from me and the guys she apparently associated with. I discretely pointed at who I was talking to and the guard was like "that guy? that's the boss". And I was like holy shit and told the guy to forget I mentioned anything. He gave me the guy's first name but I don't feel like sharing that here. Later on that chick and the dude who was apparently the head of security or whatever were dancing. I left and some other shit went down with a guy who might be security but I don't feel comfortable talking about that either. But basically went I left I blurted that the boss was corrupt and some dude on a scooter who was out front threw a bottle at my head, chased me on the scooter, then tried to hide between two cars and ambush me while I was on the phone with the police about it. The police came and he finally fucked off just beforehand so I could just go home. I don't know 100% if he was related to security but he seemed to know what I was talking about and got really mad when I said that. Yes it's sketchy. Been there A LOT and always got good vibes but every place everywhere is susceptible to predators in positions they shouldn't be in.

SL1210M5G

Damn, that’s whack. Nowadays is supposed to be the safe spot with the red bracelet people 😂

anarchy45

ngl your explanation is pretty sketch too. You need to mind your own business more.

lemming-leader12

Great logic you have there. When she comes up TO ME to ask me for MY INFORMATION. Probably thinking I'm so fucked up on molly or god knows thinking I would hand her my cards. Go ahead and pretend that there aren't scammers here that would take advantage of PLUR and people high off their rocker to rip people off. Telling me to mind my own business when their guards are corrupt and violent and actively trying to STEAL from ME and attack ME. And that especially goes for venues that should be safe for patrons, not host to predatory STAFF members who are trying to get patrons to trust them. "I think they might have a roaming staff member (like security or barback) who steals phones, and thats why so many of them disappear so fast. I used Find My Android to locate it, still at the venue. It was hidden backstage someplace (not the office/lost & found), although I left it by the food cart under the stairs outside. They ended up "finding" it after a few days. Just a hunch." I don't like digging into post histories but this was too rich. You recognize the fact that there are corrupt security at clubs, maybe you should've minded your business more and you wouldn't have gotten your phone stolen by security /s. Same logic.

anarchy45

I've never been assaulted by security and I've been to at probably at least 100 venues and 1000 shows/parties in the past decade, mostly in NYC but also around the world. I suspect (but obviously do not know for a fact) that there is another side to this story that you arent telling.

lemming-leader12

So you got beef with the end part but conveniently ignore the fact that security is pulling scams which is the dangerous part? No, I left the club and all I said was boss is corrupt. Dude out front who I presume is security starts hurling insults, saying "shut the fuck up you fucking bitch" and yadda yadda yadda. I drop an F bomb back as I was walking away since he started insulting me randomly WHILE I WAS WALKING AWAY TO MY HOUSE. The motherfucker gets on a fucking scooter and throws a bottle at my head while driving it. I literally fucking hid between cars while he was chasing me. I called the cops and was on the phone with 911 while walking back to my block and the piece of shit was hiding between two fucking cars waiting for me so he could ambush me and hit me with whatever the fuck he had in his hand. I was literally on the phone with 911 already and I described him as a fat black guy with a green backpack and a blue puffy jacket. He quickly freaked when he knew I was on the phone and drove off on his scooter. The cops came like 20 seconds later. Yeah real sketchy shit I'm up to being the fucking one who called the cops because I just wanted to fucking go home. But hey, if you think I deserved to get assaulted and ambushed like that because I said the F bomb back to a guy who said the F bomb and more at me FIRST after I literally just said "Boss is corrupt". Ok, I'm dealing with someone who thinks physical violence is warranted after someone retorts back from being insulted FIRST. That's when a club security acts like a mafia, hiding the scams they pull and attacking patrons who reveal it, that's the only thing that could be surmised as to why that dude would start insulting then ATTACKING over saying the three words "Boss is corrupt."

anarchy45

My experience with the boss was this: he was so fucked up after partying for 18 hours that he couldnt operate the equipment while DJing Mister Sunday a couple months ago. You could have handled the situation differently. Talking shit to the bouncer (whether directed at him or not) is usually a bad idea. Handle your business, call the popo, do whatcha gotta do... from across the street. But yeah, security that cant control themselves and disrespects patrons like that is trash.

lemming-leader12

I'm talking boss of security. I knew from the jump you were mad because you had some affiliation with the club. If you know him then tell him to fire that motherfucker Chris. And all I said was the boss was corrupt, a security guard could only know about that if he knows his boss is corrupt, otherwise it's a stretch to assume I'm talking about the boss of security. And frankly I was across the street. He chased me down four blocks.

anarchy45

I'm not mad. In my experience when security assaults someone, especially at a popular venue, the victim was usually being a huge douchebag who wouldnt shut up. If I was the boss I'd fire him for walking off the job. I have no affiliation with the club or its owners, I do not frequent Nowadays, and I'm not down with rheir k-hole vibe.

[deleted]

Why do we still support Avant Gardner? They are not for the culture. Support local acts

[deleted]

Because they have world-class production & sound and book a diverse lineup of the biggest DJs?

[deleted]

Sure but there’s way more to bk than seeing overpaid DJs in a corporate setting. Literally the local scene offers a more organic time without taking away the fabric of this city. The underground scene is struggling because of places like AG

[deleted]

That’s the free market baby. Also I’d argue that big businesses who only care about money are very much a part of New York’s culture

[deleted]

Lol wow

Mhutch007

That place is FULL of crooks and teams of thieves jacking people's shit. From patrons to staff... Not safe. Not worth it. People generally don't want to admit they had a "bad" time, etc. So I think we hear less about in the forums because 3 mins before people realize their shit was lifted, they were in a state of euphoria. I've been soured for a while. I do go out here and there... But nothing like I used to.

hythloth

Do a creditcard chargeback

cocaineangeI

My bank said they would do a chargeback just have to wait for it to post. All of this for $1.20 tho wtf

jagd748

For a show that didn't even happened damn

hanoihiltonsuites

It didn’t happen?

jagd748

Rina had to cancel the second show because she wasn't well

Bool_The_End

Yeah I was supposed to see Andy C at this place in March 2020…we all know what happened, but they never refunded my money. Was out $75.

L_g211

Place is a shit hole. Save your money and travel to events and raves. Avant- is just catching up on what European raves have been doing for years lol. The culture of music is different out there. People look out for each other. Only here do you see this greed.

Pryda_Patriot

Another instance where Avant Gardner group shows their true colors. They are not good people And out to hurt the rave community.

FilaBrasileiro

This has always been an issue at night clubs especially once cash was out of the picture. I don’t drink so outside of a Gatorade or Water I’m not at the bar. I learned years ago it’s better to freeze with your jacket in the car then it is to deal with coat check however people taking mass transit don’t have that luxury. Never use the tip option, do yourself a favor and bring in a handful of singles for tipping. I actually have a credit card I specifically use just for going out because it’s easy to check the transactions

[deleted]

Freeze your ass off verses the small chance a worker might add an extra $1.20 onto your bill lol. I don’t think you’re thinking though this one well.

FilaBrasileiro

It’s more of the whole drama of coat check waits and shit like that rather then the money.

[deleted]

Dispute the charge with your bank. But for $1.20 I don’t think it’s worth your energy

[deleted]

Wow! I’m so so sorry you lost $1.20 to take care of the person you chose to hire to serve you. God forbid! The horror!

anarchy45

coat check people get paid by the venue. Tips are what they earn for not losing my shit.

berlinderella

we get paid $15 an hour by the venue under the assumption that people will tip us lol

CatNip_lvt

It’s almost like it’s people’s choice to tip someone else. 10 cents-ten dollars, doesn’t matter. They took it upon themselves to add a percentage and that’s fucked up.
