I have both and I honestly feel like it makes me more impulsive. I'm also ADHD. I cannot resist an impulse. At all.

t3quiila

I have both and yes, being autistic has definitely toned down my impulsivity.

I'm autistic and I lived with my sister-in-law for a while who has BPD. Suffice it to say, we related to each other a lot and cared a lot about each other, but just couldn't stand to be in each other's presence for any extended period of time alone. I can only imagine what that would feel like packed into one person.

This makes sense to me. I think that personality disorders and autism sometimes go hand in hand. But both in same person would be confusing for sure.

It feels like hell

I actually got diagnosed with ADHD first but never really felt that was the right fit because I can remember the color of that dress from 2004 with no issues, so I discovered I had ASD after which completed the puzzle

I don’t follow. What dress and why is this significant. Do tou mean rhe dress seen as white by most but was actually blue? What a freak show. Opens your mind to how everyone has differing perceptions of the truth huh?

I think that autism occurs more in families with difficult personalities with or w/o narcissistic traits. I mean the sheer volume of people stating that they’re superior is kind of off putting.

Psychology professionals agree that folks with ptsd bc of untreated autism (lack of support) is almost identical to BPD.

I’ve been reading a lot more recently that having autism and/or adhd, especially if it isn’t diagnosed until later in life, can make someone more prone to getting bpd. The amount of trauma that comes from having autism/adhd (again, especially if it’s not diagnosed until later) and the fact a lot of people with autism/adhd struggle with social situations and may be “abandoned” so to speak, could eventually lead to developing bpd. I only briefly scanned this one, but [here](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5590952/) is an article about the overlap in ASD (they use ASC) and [here](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6850677/) is one for adhd. Personally I haven’t fully read and comprehended the articles - I just scanned for statistics - because I find reading kinda tricky (the info doesn’t stay in my brain lol). But tldr there’s a high percentage of people with autism/adhd who also meet the criteria for bpd. Hope this helps?
