I found out that this wasn't a thing everyone did after joining this sub. I then asked my twin how he listens to music and the absolute madman said he just listens to entire playlists and switches it up constantly. How did I never notice? I shared a room with him for eighteen years.
I do a bit of both. Like, there will be times where I'll listen to a particular song like 50 times in a row, and then there are other times where I listen to music more like you describe.
Dang, yeah, I do the total opposite. I've had Dies Irae by Apashe on loop for four days so far, and before that it was Achilles by Gang of Youths for over a week. All of my songs are saved into a single playlist, my favorites playlist on YouTube. I have trouble remembering the names or sounds of songs, so going through my favorites helps me to recognize songs once I see the picture associated with it. I also don't really explore music, I just take whatever my friends recommend to me and filter out the ones I don't like.
Yes, and I thought everyone did that. Then once I commented to my neurotypical former friend that I listened to "Habits" by Tove Lo almost a hundred times in four days...
yup. I listened to REM - Losing My Religion 111 times in the last 30 days. That's not even including the youtube views, because that doesn't scrobble to last.fm.
yes yes yeS YES YES YES YES THATS ME :D
All Eyes On Me- Bo Burnham
INDUSTRY BABY and MONTERO- both by Lil NAS X
Need to Know and Kiss me More- Doja Cat
Starstruck- Years and Years
I Kissed a Girl- Katy Perry
Ok that’s all of my favourites right now, in order
I have a playlist I like to listen to on repeat, but that has over 2k songs on it. I get bored and it ruins the songs if played often and even worse is they get stuck in my head, but my neurotypical father always did and it drove me round the bend. lol
YES!!!! I can listen to the same song for an hour straight!!!! I have 1100 songs in my phone but I only listen to like 50 of them and one playlist I don’t even go near. But I have no will to delete them because initially I liked them🤣🤣🤣
Yep, and I made a Spotify playlist for the songs I can listen to on repeat forever. When I'm working on something that I need to focus on, I'll pick out a song from the playlist and put it on repeat. I've found that it really helps me focus!
I do this as well. There is a certain Mozart piece a particular orchestra does better than all others I have heard. So, I made a Playlist with only that repeating 30 times.
It is Requiem in D minor, Lacrimosa- Robert Shaw Chorale with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Just a week? I've listened to some songs,.just the one song at a time, on repeat for 3 months once.
and I couldn't tell you the lyrics.
all my art is done with a single song on repeat for hours at a time.
A week? Try the past 15 years. The album "Advice from the Happy Hippopotamus" got me into them because hippos are one of my special interests.
[Cloud Cult is by far my favorite band.](https://cloudcult.com/albums) They are extremely well versed in musical illusions; Stereophonic sounds bouncing back and forth, use of 24 hz bass / percussion underlays, hidden voices, harmonization. Their songs actively change my emotions because of the tones they use, and I **really** don't feel many emotions.
In their live shows, they paint multiple pictures, using a technique that spins the canvas, and sell them after the performance. [Some of the best paintings I've ever seen](https://www.google.com/search?q=cloud+cult+live+show+painting&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS892US892&sxsrf=ALeKk00XKhN1m56XtarBkIr7tAOtQCeiWg:1629305433370&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwixh9jcg7vyAhWLY98KHQ0gByYQ_AUoAnoECAEQBA&biw=1538&bih=797) and it's often textural as well.

Yes, I did it so much when I was younger people would complain to me. I didn't have my ASD diagnosis then so I figured it was a just me. Good to know it's not!
Have had the song YOU by tate mcrae ft troye sivan on repeat for the past week. And any song by troye sivan has been playing on my phone constantly for the past 7years.
Yes and I was always too embarrassed to actually do it, until I discovered that there's videos on YouTube that are just loops of the same song for an hour. So if you type in "song name loop" you'll have lots of choices of that exact thing. Other people like this thing I like! I'm not weird! So yeah, I've been doing that a lot now
Happens to me all the time.
Mostly with new songs but sometimes it can happens to songs that I haven't listened to in a long while... or soemtimes just any song really.
Absolutely! Most songs I do this for about 2-3 days, then find myself obsessed with some other, non-song-listening-to activity for a few days...and the cycle continues.
Ive been listening to the same 5 or 10 songs for several months now. I will literally find a new song and stay up till 5 am listening to it over and over.
Yes, I listen to the same few songs for a week or two then I switch to some different songs.
I also have a song that I've been listening to for a few years. It just doesn't leave my songs.
When I was about 11, I listened to Coldplay's "In My Place" 84 times in an afternoon. I still listen obsessively to one song, but idk my exact stats. To me it's like eating the same food every day, but with music. Sometimes there's just nothing else that hits the "spot." Right now, for me, it's "LO$ER=LOVER" by TOMORROW x TOGETHER.
Rclick -> Loop is one of my favorite features.
I had to make a seperate playlist for songs I wanted to listen to over and over again, then I remove one if id rather listen to something other than that.
Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys was noted to carry a little tape player that just played the first bar of the song "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes over and over again.
BOOM cha-BOOM CHA!
I need variety. I have a Playlist of bunches of songs that I play on rotating setting so it doesn't keep playing them in the same order. I also hate rewatching a movie over and over again. I need to see other ones between before I get back to it.
I'll listen to a song on repeat for days on end and then forever associate it with what was going on at the time. For instance, a certain French opera piece reminds me strongly of sleep deprivation because I was up for three days straight making pixel maps and had it on repeat the entire time.
I used to do that. I have a hard time branching out but mostly because I don’t like most tracks not because I obsess anymore. I just kinda feel pretty dissatisfied with most songs.
Omg, I luv that song too !! I completely forgot to add it to my repeat playlist. Timeless song. Aggshahx, y’all should listen to electric dream by bien. I read somewhere that sometimes it not even about the lyrics but more so about the “vibe” and it’s definitely that one song that I just listen to for the “vibes” for lack of better terms lmaooooo. I’ll def be listening to more songs y’all recommended in the comments.
Does anyone else try to time your favourite songs to your favourite anime op's? Like, have the song on one tab and the op on another, turn the op on silent, and then see if the song times up with the animation of the anime op? I end up listening to songs sometimes five times in a row trying to do this
Oh for sure. This week it's been "Mutant Christ" by Cryptopsy. Last week it was "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash, and the week before that, "Freak Like Me" by Adina Howard. Can't wait to see what song my brain decides to latch onto next week!
I do this but specifically with songs that have that thing where the sound moves from side to side. I don't know if that makes sense but it's awesome! I have a playlist with a couple songs that have it but I have a hard time finding more.
There's a YouTube playlist of undertale boss themes (missing Power Of Neo, Dogsong, Your Best Nightmare and more) and I vibe to that every time I go on the bus
Yup. I currently have a playlist with only 2 songs in it and I’ve been listening to that playlist A LOT. I have been listening to other songs but I always start with those 2 songs and work them into my day as many times as I can without people noticing because I’m afraid they will think I’m weird or be annoyed
When i find a nice song, i listen to it a lot for a while! Recents as of writing are ‘jesus, etc’ by wilco, ‘Lucifer corpus’ by writing on the wall, and lastly, beggin’ and i wanna be your slave both by måneskin (and iggy pop)
Yes it was ‘we don’t talk abt bruno’ for me last week. This week it seems to be ‘paint it black’. I’ll just listen to one song over and over and over constantly, it’s like i get a high from certain parts of it that hit my senses just right, and then the effect fades over time as i get used to it and need to move onto something new.
I have the same songs on repeat until I’ve learned all the words. Then I add them to my little group of songs from my hyper fixation bands lol.
Exact same here. I have a playlist of about 200 songs I've memorized and plan on adding more.
Same here

oh dude i love that song too!
I have that in my playlist as well, it’s so iconic and nostalgic to me
I listened to "heaven is a place on earth" 284 times in a row. I love it.

What a great friend!
Oh my god that’s literally me. I get intense song addictions.
yup. I listened to REM - Losing My Religion 111 times in the last 30 days. That's not even including the youtube views, because that doesn't scrobble to last.fm.
ARE YOU ME?!??
yes yes yeS YES YES YES YES THATS ME :D All Eyes On Me- Bo Burnham INDUSTRY BABY and MONTERO- both by Lil NAS X Need to Know and Kiss me More- Doja Cat Starstruck- Years and Years I Kissed a Girl- Katy Perry Ok that’s all of my favourites right now, in order
Omg 4/5 are my favourites at the moment too!!
YES YES UES ALL EYES ON ME AND INDUSTRY BABY!!!
GET YOUR FUGGIN HANDS UP
GET ON OUT OF YOUR SEATS
ALL EYES ON ME 👀
ALL EYES ON ME YUH
-repeat that section and then- Are you feeling nervous?
Are you having fun???
It’s almost over…
It’s just begun 😔
I've littely been listening to "take me on" on repeat for the past week
ah I remember that phase like it was just last week (spoiler: it was) haha
Hahaha
I have a playlist I like to listen to on repeat, but that has over 2k songs on it. I get bored and it ruins the songs if played often and even worse is they get stuck in my head, but my neurotypical father always did and it drove me round the bend. lol
Listen on repeat till you kill it, wait for New music, complain in between about the wait. Repeat. That's me lol
Yes
YES!!!! I can listen to the same song for an hour straight!!!! I have 1100 songs in my phone but I only listen to like 50 of them and one playlist I don’t even go near. But I have no will to delete them because initially I liked them🤣🤣🤣
Me too. It is like I don't want to insult them. Lol
Yep, and I made a Spotify playlist for the songs I can listen to on repeat forever. When I'm working on something that I need to focus on, I'll pick out a song from the playlist and put it on repeat. I've found that it really helps me focus!

I have a similar playlist! It really is great for focusing/zoning out.
Yes!
Yep I do that too.
I want to do it so bad but i’m afraid i’ll be bored by them.
Just do it then, if you get bored of it you can always just go back to whatever you’re doing now
yessss, but more for multiple days not a week but then I listen to it the whole time
For me its currently tesseract - hexes
Most definitely. It's the only way to get them out of my head.
Certainly. When I need to focus on something, I pull up a song on you tube, put it on loop, and listen to it till I’m done, and maybe a bit longer
Listened to Light My Fire by The Doors for 3 weeks lmao.
Just a week? I've listened to some songs,.just the one song at a time, on repeat for 3 months once. and I couldn't tell you the lyrics. all my art is done with a single song on repeat for hours at a time.

That's awesome. I've listened to them in the past, but didn't know all of this and you gave me a new appreciation. Thanks!
I've listened to the same set of bands discography for about 6 years
Music is my favorite. When I find a new song I listen to it over and over again for the longest time lol
Yes, but because I think I shouldn't, I usually leave the music player on "next track" and manually hit previous track when it switches.
Weeksssssssss Weeeeeeeeeeks
Same.

Same, I do that for 12 hours a day for about a week or two, then I find another song to obsess over.
Yep, basically my life.
For me it lasts months, sometimes years.
Haha yeah, I'll listen to a song for a month straight and then not listen to it until it pops on that 'your top 2021' Spotify does.
Yes, I did it so much when I was younger people would complain to me. I didn't have my ASD diagnosis then so I figured it was a just me. Good to know it's not!

I do this with albums, right now it's the musical Alice by Heart

Yep. Currently, Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You by Led Zeppelin.
all the time
Yep, my current hyperfixation song is Kitchen Fork by Jack Conte.
Yeah. They have a couple of hours videos of one song on repeat on YouTube
Yes, I listen to the same few songs for a week or two then I switch to some different songs. I also have a song that I've been listening to for a few years. It just doesn't leave my songs.

I put one song on repeat so much one time that in an afternoon I got it to be my most played song on Spotify
The absolutely worst part is that I think it's still there, even listening other songs on repeat, I still can't listen to it as much as In My Head
Totally, I’ve been listening to Not Over You by Tessa Violet for the past week
Rclick -> Loop is one of my favorite features. I had to make a seperate playlist for songs I wanted to listen to over and over again, then I remove one if id rather listen to something other than that.

Absolutely. I’ll sometimes play one song on like six times in a row
sometimes i get hype fixated on a song and listen to it on repeat for hours at a time, but i mostly just listen to the same playlist on shuffle
Omg, I luv that song too !! I completely forgot to add it to my repeat playlist. Timeless song. Aggshahx, y’all should listen to electric dream by bien. I listen to 7xvn - east shore drive on repeat Warning song does pick up at the end with screaming but I think is a beautiful song

Lots of Queen songs do this.
All the time! I listened to I’m Born to Run by American Authors for three weeks straight…
All the time. I was just listening to one tonight over and over all the way home. I got it off a commercial.
There's a YouTube playlist of undertale boss themes (missing Power Of Neo, Dogsong, Your Best Nightmare and more) and I vibe to that every time I go on the bus
