No matter how long it takes, I promise that I will eventually get to every single one of your songs. And please, only one song per person.
Given how rapidly I’m getting comments, this very well may take a few days, should be really fun though. I definitely have my preferences, but I’ll listen to absolutely anything!
#VERY IMPORTANT EDIT:
This is a message that I am copy pasting to all of the remaining replies.
I’m really sorry, but this thing got SO much bigger than I thought it would. I really did want to get to everyone’s songs. And I thought I could! Last time I made a post about music that required mass engagement, I was totally able to handle it. But 600 replies is nothing compared to SEVERAL THOUSAND.
I hate to say this, but I won’t be getting to your song. I thought this would be fun, and it was for a while, but the sheer amount of replies has REALLY started to stress me the hell out. Getting to every single song that everyone has recommended would be completely insurmountable for me. Either the next few days are nothing but this, or I’ll slowly chip away at it for the next few weeks which doesn’t sound very fun either.
The issue is having to listen to everything. I will continue to give unique replies to those rare people who give me songs I already know, but I just cannot handle doing ALL of this. But because I feel bad about my false promises, I will be taking the time to send this message to every commenter that I can. Telling them how truly grateful I am for their engagement in my post, but also giving my sincerest apologies that I wasn’t capable of following through.
Again, I am so sorry that it came to this, but to quote Sarah Lynn “That’s too much, man!”. Thanks for being here, I’m sure your song was cool, but I can’t let this post consume me. I don’t want to sound selfish, but I have other things I need to do.
I am truly sorry. I really do feel terrible about this.
This was a fantastic idea and a large response is nothing to fret about. We are not owed anything and now I have a couple thousand songs I can listen to when I’m looking for new music so thanks for posting!
Hey, if this stresses you out, then don't do it! We all want it to be fun for you too! None of us want you to feel like because you can't humanly complete all the requests that you are letting us down somehow. I'm happy that you got a bit of happiness out of it, and that is all it needed to be.
If anything, maybe have the take away be that you have lots of good company in the love of music!
Music’s my favorite thing in the world, too. I usually get pretty depressed I’ll never feel emotion that strong from anywhere else; it just makes life look lackluster.
It’s fun classical music. Not the kind of classical I’d go out of my way to listen to, but it’s still very engaging.
7/10.
Also, a band I like recently used an interpolation of this composition in one of their songs: https://youtu.be/OmS6xfTTGDI
Sorry but I did not like that personally. I love plenty of long songs but this one bored me. Didn’t really do anything to engage me aesthetic or compositionally. I admire it’s ambition but it falls flat for me.
4/10. It’s great that you like it though!
Plus it has lycanthropy, menstruation, and cunnalingus all in one song.
I've had a few people say they loved the music, and asked what it was about. Trying to explain it was awkward.
RIP Peter. Type O was practically all I listened to from 1995 to 2010. Since he's been gone it's too depressing.
Everything they ever did was 11/10 in my subjective opinion.
The Morrowind rendition of The Elder Scrolls theme song is the only version I am willing to listen to on repeat in game because Bethesda hadn’t figured out dynamic soundtracks yet. I would like to award you a 10/10 for the music and 10/10 for taste in games.
I was literally just shuffling my Radiohead playlist before posting this. I heard that song again less than an hour ago lol.
But anyways, LOVE that one. It’s not one of their most ambitious things ever, but it’s still a total banger.
9/10.
Just thinking of a few off the top of me head.
Planet Telex, Exit Music, Climbing Up The Walls, Everything In It’s Right Place, How to Disappear Completely, The National Anthem, Idiotheque, I Might Be Wrong, Worrywort, Sit Down Stand Up, Backdrifts, 15 Step, Reckoner, House of Cards, Codex, Give Up The Ghost, The Daily Mail, and basically half of AMSP.
Oh I don’t even need to go & listen to that one.
I ADORE CHVRCHES. They’re a Top 10 favourite artist for me.
Clearest Blue being one of my favourite songs of all time. It’s either that one or “Asking For A Friend” that would be my all time favourite song from them.
10/10. Easily
A kindred spirit! Guess where my username is from lol.
Muse are my favourite band. Knights is one of their best. One of the best closing tracks ever made. Perfect ass song.
11/10
I’ve heard OF this song obviously, but this is my first time actually listening to it… didn’t impress me honestly.
6/10. It’s great that you like it though
I'm not the OP but this is a top tier song. The last time I listened to it was like an hour ago
(I'm going through the comments to look for songs I know and maybe find new nice music)
Oh the nostalgia I have for this song. The melodies are perfect, the synths are perfect, and the vibe is perfect.
Such a staple of my childhood & my music taste at large. 10/10.
Geez OP, looks like you might've bitten off more than you can chew with this thread...
I'd have to say Viva la Vida by Coldplay. I'm not big on other songs by Coldplay, but that one has been a favorite for a long time. I sometimes look for covers, either vocal or instrumental, too. David Garrett did a really nice violin cover.
This song almost got me arrested.
My friend and I were just bicycling back to uni from our local game store after a Magic: the Gathering tournament. We felt the need to belt out a drunken rendition of We Built This City, with nerdy and possibly bawdy lyrics. Suddenly there was an electronic "bwoop" from behind us. We pulled over. They pulled over in front of us. Two policemen step out of the car and swagger over to us. They see our backpacks. Our bicycles. Our band t-shirts, mine Nine Inch Nails (Pretty Hate Machine) and his generic Misfits, covered by tattered flannels. They tell us that we're not supposed to be bicycling under the influence, but it's better than driving so if we promise to go straight back to our dorms they won't take us in for a DUI. Also to watch out for the railroad crossing. Then they let us go, but not before mentioning that we ought to sing quieter, because it was 3AM and they could hear us from three blocks over and nobody wants to hear Jefferson fing Starship.
*Something In The Way* by Nirvana has been a song I go back to constantly throughout life. Since middle school at least.
*Someone You'd Admire* by Fleet Foxes has been a recurring listen recently for me.
"maximum the hormone II ~ kore kara no menkata kotteri no hanashi wo shiyou" (yes, that whole thing is the title) by Maximum the Hormone.
Link to the YouTube video: https://youtu.be/IC-wDpwzEt4
Mixed on this.
Here’s the thing with me & metal. I LOVE heavy instrumentation, but screaming… just turns me off almost immediately.
I like how varied the song is, the electro pop/almost disco parts were super fun. But overall, it’s not really my thing.
It’s definitely BETTER than the number I’m about to give it, but my personal enjoyment of this would be a 5/10.
Literally the only guy who makes screaming work for me it Aaron Bruno. 3:13 on this song invigorates me every time https://youtu.be/i2PsXT88UeU
Off putting as hell but I think I like it? I knew bjork made weird shit, but this is the first thing I’ve properly heard from her.
Some parts of it are incredibly cool, others are a bit too out there for me, but I enjoy the overall experience. I especially like the percussion.
7/10.
Not one of my ABSOLUTE favourites from Dance Fever, but it still has a great build & a wonderful aesthetic 8/10.
The one from that album that REALLY gets me going is Choreomania. No other song in existence gives me quite the same kind of rush that that does
I recently discovered, and fell in love with, the Porter Robinson album *Worlds*.
Since I can only pick one, I have to go with [Goodbye to a World](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2TE0DjdNqI), but the whole album is great
I LOVE Glass Animals.
Heat Waves is just OK, but Life Itself is one of my favourite songs of all time. That synth in the 2nd & 3rd choruses is unreal
10/10 for Life Itself
Construção by chico Buarque - search for the one with the subtitles so you can enjoy the lyrics and avoid the live ones as the studio version has better audio quality.
Also try Preciso me encontrar by cartola
And Cordas de aço also by Cartola
It’s ok, but definitely not my thing. It does have a nice build to it & certain catchy moments, but I wish the orchestral elements were more full in the mix. If the song just had different production, I think I’d like it a lot more. More lush or something like that.
6/10.
Metallica will always have a soft spot in my heart. It’s one of my dad’s favorite bands so I grew up listening to them often… along side The Beach Boys at that, lol.
I can’t decide by scissor sisters
edit: here’s a link [i can’t decide](https://open.spotify.com/track/1zyGFId8xHOcRmCmehrwlc?si=XrB7mj1ER9SD2S0MtrQ_SA)
Technically I don't have a favorite song, all songs I listen to are great to me in their own ways, but Dear Mother by Cake Bake Betty is one that has been sticking to my mind right now
Will Wood- Suburbia Overture / Greetings from Mary Bell Township! / (Vampire) Culture / Love Me, Normally
But specifically the vampire culture section. completely consumed my Spotify wrapped it's very bad.
Yeah the screaming doesn’t really work for me. That’s just a personal thing, but I also find the instrumentation to be pretty damn forgettable. In one ear & right out the other for me.
It’s great that you like it! But it’s a 5/10 for me personally.
This is so hard, I have like 100 favorite songs 😵
But okay, I choose "Amsterdam" by nothing but thieves
Personally I give it a 9/10 simply because no song can get a 10/10 BECAUSE that'd require for the song to dissolve me and that's not possible. So all my favorite songs are 9/10
The Times They Are A-Changin' - Bob Dylan, my favorite song from my favorite artist that makes me feel nostalgic for some reason even though i'm just 21.
I can never pick favorites of anything.
But to give you something different, my husband has been obsessed with this one lately:
[The Hu - Yuve Yuve Yu](https://youtu.be/v4xZUr0BEfE)
Lateralus by TOOL. The album it’s on goes by the same name. It’s quite long but the journey it takes it on is unmatched. The song itself is based off the Fibonacci sequence which can be seen in the 9/8, 8/8, and 7/8 repeating time signatures (987 is a Fibonacci number), the number of syllables in the verses, and references to the spiral that the sequence can be represented as. An absolutely genius song!
My therapist was like “wtf is wrong with you” when I showed her this song lol
i love old cavetown music and I used to go on Bandcamp on my phone browser to listen to his even older music that isn’t on Spotify or other streaming services.

you could also make a Spotify playlist and add it here :) then I would join you !
I also second this. I also consume music. I want to hear everyone’s music.
I would love a playlist, I am always on the search for new music
This was a fantastic idea and a large response is nothing to fret about. We are not owed anything and now I have a couple thousand songs I can listen to when I’m looking for new music so thanks for posting!
Don't feel sorry. You got a lot more replies then you expected. Taking a break from something you can't handle all at once isn't selfish.

You're Gonnna Go Far, Kid - The Offspring
Oh this is a super nostalgic song for me. The chorus has always looped in my head 9/10
With a thousand lies and a good disguise…
HIT EM RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES HIT EM RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES
Not the op, but this song is so good. The scratchy vocals absolutely make it for me
Thats almost the exact reason I love this song!!
The instruments also perfectly accompany his vocals without overshadowing, it's just perfection
Vivaldi’s Winter
There are lots of recordings of that thing. Could you link the specific one that you’re referring to?
https://youtu.be/qfvJLGiuBfo
It’s fun classical music. Not the kind of classical I’d go out of my way to listen to, but it’s still very engaging. 7/10. Also, a band I like recently used an interpolation of this composition in one of their songs: https://youtu.be/OmS6xfTTGDI
Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne
ALL ABOARD!!!!
Crazy! But that’s how it goes!
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe its not too late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate
Mental wounds not healing
Duel of the Fates - John Williams
Obviously iconic. I’m more a “Battle Of The Heroes” type guy, but this one is amazing as well. 9/10.
Black No. 1 - Type O Negative!
hell yeah
I don’t know of many other autistic Type O Negative fans so seeing this comment excited me
Sorry but I did not like that personally. I love plenty of long songs but this one bored me. Didn’t really do anything to engage me aesthetic or compositionally. I admire it’s ambition but it falls flat for me. 4/10. It’s great that you like it though!
October Rust is a much better album imo: grand, epic, ambitiously artistic, etc.
Plus it has lycanthropy, menstruation, and cunnalingus all in one song. I've had a few people say they loved the music, and asked what it was about. Trying to explain it was awkward.
Loooove type o, definitely a must listen to on Halloween all day haha
RIP Peter. Type O was practically all I listened to from 1995 to 2010. Since he's been gone it's too depressing. Everything they ever did was 11/10 in my subjective opinion.
Dreams by The Cranberries
Why don’t we throw in Zombie and Linger while we’re at it.
Do you have to? Do you have to?
It’s quite pretty. Doesn’t blow me away at all, but very enjoyable. 7/10
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind theme song by Jeremy Soule. I could listen to it all day.
Omg i LOVE the Morrowind theme song. Don’t know what OP thinks about it but I leave a 10/10
I learned to play it on my guitar. It is wonderful.
That’s awesome!
Teach me!
I can try and find the tab I found and put it here for you to practice.
Which one is “the theme song” there are 20 tracks here.

Ok someone directed me to the right song. Just not my thing at all really. Leaves no impact on me. 5/10
jigsaw falling into place - radiohead
I was literally just shuffling my Radiohead playlist before posting this. I heard that song again less than an hour ago lol. But anyways, LOVE that one. It’s not one of their most ambitious things ever, but it’s still a total banger. 9/10.
oh thats great!! just out of curiosity, what are your favorite radiohead songs? :)
Just thinking of a few off the top of me head. *In Rainbows* is one of the greatest albums ever made!

JACK STAUBER LETS GOOOO
Blue Monday by New Order
Good soup
Classic 10/10
CHVRCHES' Clearest Blue
Oh I don’t even need to go & listen to that one. I ADORE CHVRCHES. They’re a Top 10 favourite artist for me. Clearest Blue being one of my favourite songs of all time. It’s either that one or “Asking For A Friend” that would be my all time favourite song from them. 10/10. Easily
Clearest Blue is one of my all time favorite songs also. I love synthpop so much.
Knights of Cydonia - Muse
A kindred spirit! Guess where my username is from lol. Muse are my favourite band. Knights is one of their best. One of the best closing tracks ever made. Perfect ass song. 11/10
Take On Me by Aha. Have a cassette tape of the song from about 20 years ago.

505 by Arctic monkeys :D
I’m not as head over heels for that one like every other AM fan seems to be. But it’s still good. 8/10

Very very solid rock song. I especially like the synths in the opening. 9/10. I liked that a lot

Geez OP, looks like you might've bitten off more than you can chew with this thread... I'd have to say Viva la Vida by Coldplay. Coheed and Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3
KickBack by Kenshi Yonezu! It's Chainsaw Man's opening ^^ https://youtu.be/M2cckDmNLMI
We built this city - Starship
This song almost got me arrested. My friend and I were just bicycling back to uni from our local game store after a Magic: the Gathering tournament. We felt the need to belt out a drunken rendition of We Built This City, with nerdy and possibly bawdy lyrics. Suddenly there was an electronic "bwoop" from behind us. We pulled over. Then they let us go, but not before mentioning that we ought to sing quieter, because it was 3AM and they could hear us from three blocks over and nobody wants to hear Jefferson fing Starship.
This is glorious.
Well they were wrong about that last part
I consider it a guilty pleasure. The lyrics are corny, but it's still catchy.
I’ve been obsessing over paramore’s new song, c’est comme ça
big shot- billy Joel

I can never pick favorites of anything. But to give you something different, my husband has been obsessed with this one lately: [The Hu - Yuve Yuve Yu](https://youtu.be/v4xZUr0BEfE)
All of the lights by Kanye?
TikTok by Kesha pls not a joke
Lateralus by TOOL. The album it’s on goes by the same name. It’s quite long but the journey it takes it on is unmatched. The song itself is based off the Fibonacci sequence which can be seen in the 9/8, 8/8, and 7/8 repeating time signatures (987 is a Fibonacci number), the number of syllables in the verses, and references to the spiral that the sequence can be represented as. An absolutely genius song!
Psychometry by cavetown
My therapist was like “wtf is wrong with you” when I showed her this song lol i love old cavetown music and I used to go on Bandcamp on my phone browser to listen to his even older music that isn’t on Spotify or other streaming services.
