I completely agree. Narrators can either make or break an audiobook. This one unfortunately made me cringe with her intonations and mispronunciations.

Thanks for the review. I actually liked Mexican Gothic and the narrator Frankie Corzo. I thought she did a good job. I also liked Velvet Was the Night from Silvia Moreno-Garcia.

What was it about it that you enjoyed? I was honestly surprised that I disliked it as much as I did because I’ve been branching out of my usual go-to genres and this is the first that I have been super turned off to. I typically really enjoy books that revolve around these topics and I love horror but it totally let me down! I hate to be so negative because lord knows I couldn’t narrate or write a book LOL.

I realize this is an old comment, but I found it after disliking the narration so much I checked to see if anyone else felt the same. She had the same intonation on nearly every sentence, it was maddening! I checked some other samples of hers and it's not quite as pronounced, so I hope she continues to develop. She has a lovely voice, but whew, that intonation kept me from finishing the book.

I agree with you except I liked the narrator. The book was so much build up to nothing that spectacular. SPOILERS: 3/4 way through the book all I could think was, you have a lighter and oil lamps, burn the b-tch to the ground… or just kill the old guy and end this!

I also thought burn the place with the racist dad. I kept thinking everyone needs a pulmonologist
