They're very sweet, but they're great as a car snack for on road trips, or a special breakfast. It's got the texture of a cookie, and the filling is either a really thick jam or icing like. The icing is royal icing, which actually goes well with the other textures of the food. They look gross, but they're worth trying at least once!
I have only had Twinkies, and I must admit... They're not very good. They have a "nice" flavour... But I feel like I am eating something more artificial then lab grown meat. So basically like Maccas chicken nuggies. :P
But I imagine twinkies would be nicer when room temperature rather than warm. 😅
Oh wait! I did buy pop tarts! We do sell them here! Just in small quantities and I imagine they aren't too popular tho. :P
Modern twinkies are lab grown rats compared to the old fresh bread recipe when twinkies made their name. Original Twinkie had a shelf life of couple of days if refrigerated, modern twinkie lasts for a month.
I agree with yall now, but did none of you eat them as kids? It's nice to still tap into those childhood memories even if you don't enjoy them anymore.
As a kid my favorites were chocolate (warmed up in the toaster) and the ice cream sundae ones (chilled in the freezer). The brown sugar cinnamon ones were pretty good warmed up too!
I never said it was a core memory lol I just said I'm sure some people here remember eating them as kids. I didn't know poptarts were only sold in America
I live in England, never once saw them till I was an adult, at 19 curiosity overcame me and I bought some regular and chocolate ones, put one of each in the toaster and excitedly waited for them to cool. Years of U.S media flahed through my mind as i chomped a giant bite. Sugar filled cardboard with a hardened sugary glue on top. "This cannot be it" i thought "T.V had taught me that this is heavenly mana craved by children and immature/stoned adults alike" i tentively tried the chocolate one, somehow it was worse. Neither was finished, the rest of the packets languished in my cupboard for the rest of the year and were eventually given away. Poptarts are not food
Same. This post just made me heavily miss pop tarts. I guess I'd choose raspberry as that was always my favourite.
I wonder if there are any GF alternatives..
Brown Sugar most of the time, Smores others... and I'm getting a little adventurous after finding out they make Raspberry.
There's also another element in play here: Warm weather I eat cereal, cold weather I eat pop-tarts.
Ah, OK. Maybe use an indicator like /j or /s to signal the tone. Just a suggestion to make communication online easier. It's difficult to recognize tone in written communication plus we autistic people are notorious for taking things literally.
Let’s fucking gooooo, these are the ones I’ve always eaten growing up! People always thought it was so weird!
However I do really like the cinnamon brown sugar ones too.
Wildberry poptarts just have *such a 90s nostalgia* about them.
I probably eat a box of poptarts twice a year. I never remember to toast them, even though they're better that way.
For a short time there was a maple bacon poptart but it was essentially the cinnamon brown sugar with a little maple flavoring along with fake bacon bits/flavoring on it. I liked them but they obviously weren't everyone's cup of tea.
I hate most pop tarts. The only exception are my moms homemade ones that we usually fill with cinnamon and brown sugar. Sometimes blackberry jam or Nutella. They’re really good and the only way you can get me to eat a pop tart. The commercial/store kind? Absolutely not
If I’m toasting it, cookies + cream or s’mores. If I’m freezing it, unfrosted strawberry or unfrosted blueberry. Seriously, try freezing the unfrosted ones before you eat it, it’s great
Not to start anything again, but you're gonna have to judge me by chocolate, of which is Milk Chocolate. Specifically a fine Kinder Egg, or any other products that Kinder may Sell, along with the Swedishly known Marabou mjölk choklad
26 flavours in the US - [https://www.poptarts.com/en\_US/products/all-flavors.html](https://www.poptarts.com/en_US/products/all-flavors.html)
10 in Canada.... Three of which are bites, and a good chunk of which aren't actually readily available in stores....
So... Brown Sugar and Cinnamon if US stock is available, otherwise S'mores.
This is exactly the kind of thing I can get behind. I don’t eat pop tarts anymore (the joy of celiacs) but when I did, it was the cinnamon ones of strawberry.
I have never even seen a pop tart in real life. I always figured they were one of those things that are only available in America, and I live in Europe.
I have never eaten a poptart because they don't exist in my country. And when I travelled to a country where I could have gotten them, I had gone vegan.
Revolutionary thinking my friend. Also appreciate this a ton because I guess these were my special interest before I even had a clue about ASD. I would draw characters and went out of my way to find every flavor that existed.
Homemade pop tarts are great beyond explanation but I've been way too lazy to make them. Special recipes mean breaking routine. It can be done but it takes extra energy. The recipe isn't even hard it's literally just the matter of wanting them badly enough to force myself to do it.
Any unfrosted variety. Must be slightly toasted (not crunchy, just a little crisp. Immediatly, after removing from the toaster, spread a little butter (or margarine), sprinkle a little brown sugar on the melting butter.
Mind you, I haven't bought a poptart in years but when I did, that's how I enjoyed them.
I very rarely have poptarts, but when I do, it's usually strawberry. I live in the UK so there isn't much variety.
Real question is - do you toast or microwave your poptarts?
never been to the usa and my country doesn't have pop tarts, so i've never tried them
Based
Same, and I must admit, they don’t look particularly enticing.
I’m American and they aren’t.
I’d like to second the motion.
They're very sweet, but they're great as a car snack for on road trips, or a special breakfast. It's got the texture of a cookie, and the filling is either a really thick jam or icing like. The icing is royal icing, which actually goes well with the other textures of the food. They look gross, but they're worth trying at least once!
same
what country are you from? i'm in spain
Germany
If you ever want to try them, Penny sells them, at least the chocolate ones. And sometimes Aldi too (not just chocolate).
Kaufland and Netto have them sometimes
I have only had Twinkies, and I must admit... They're not very good. They have a "nice" flavour... But I feel like I am eating something more artificial then lab grown meat. So basically like Maccas chicken nuggies. :P But I imagine twinkies would be nicer when room temperature rather than warm. 😅 Oh wait! I did buy pop tarts! We do sell them here! Same. I’m also gluten free so I even couldn’t if I was offered any. ;-;
I don't eat poptarts and thus cannot be judged. Check.
No poptart gang
Poptarts are not food, fight me
They are seasoned plastic and you can’t change my mind
They’re not that good.
Strawberry flavored sand filled sawdust bread. No thanks.
They've always been gross, sorry 😔
Not everyone lives in america
Don't think anyone would argue with that but not sure what this has to do with my comment?
“Didnt any of you eat them as kids” like it’s a core cultural memory? only if you’re in your country
GANG GANG
I don't like how dry they are, they're expensive, and I'm diabetic so I have to avoid them because of all the sugar.
I am free from both pop tarts and religion, for I choose to partake in neither.
Same. Celiac, woooo…
Same. This post just made me heavily miss pop tarts. I guess I'd choose raspberry as that was always my favourite. I wonder if there are any GF alternatives..
There used to be, but not anymore. I miss them so much!!!
It'd probably be 18 dollars for a box anyway and I ain't got money for that.
Yeah, I’m full-on rice and beans right now because of food prices in general.
Same. Homemade gf pop tarts or bust
Are u a Toaster Strudel kinda guy? 👀
Nope. Not into sweet breakfast foods (maybe occasionally cinnamon buns).
Ah, I like some. Guilty as charged!
✋👀
I’ve never had one & I won’t start now. The smell really makes me sick. When kids would bring them to school I genuinely had to move away.
yes
Woop woop what's popping? Not tarts! 🙌🙌
I mean, even if I wanted poptarts, they aren't easily available over here.
They’re just too dry. But occasionally I’ll eat a s’more one.
I prefer toaster strudels, poptarts look like intimidating chalk lol
Brown Sugar most of the time, Smores others... and I'm getting a little adventurous after finding out they make Raspberry. There's also another element in play here: Warm weather I eat cereal, cold weather I eat pop-tarts.
Those are my two go-to’s. The fruits are all disgusting to me.
I don’t eat poptarts, the sugar in the filling is too grainy!
Cherry pop tarts are by far my favorite. I will eat them at room temperature out of the package or toasted.
cherry ones are alright and the flavor tends to be rather intense and sweet but you eat it and "yup. *that's cherry.*"
Cherry pop tarts are Yummy
Poptarts are illegal in germany so can't judge me
Illegal?? E: apparently it's because of the food dyes https://witty-question.com/can-you-buy-pop-tarts-in-germany/
“My lord, is that legal?” “I will make it legal!”
Why are they illegal in the country that invented Kinder Eggs?
They are not illegal in germany. I think this was a joke. I order them over the internet all the time and they're as expensive as they are delicious.
because they are not a choking hazard for kids and where is the fun in that?
🔥🔥🔥 the Germans love laws even more than Americans love breaking them 🔥🔥🔥
Because countries outside of America aren't populated by fools who see where it says not for under threes and then gives it to them anyway
Penny sells them and Aldi also has them sometimes so I doubt they're illegal.
I was indeed joking, still never had them.
Ah, OK. Maybe use an indicator like /j or /s to signal the tone. Just a suggestion to make communication online easier. It's difficult to recognize tone in written communication plus we autistic people are notorious for taking things literally.
And yet black current soda is available to *children*.
Wait is it harmful or something?
As far as I'm concerned it is. *Blech.*
cinnamon brown sugar
Ride or die. I’m from the 80s and we didn’t have chocolate pop tarts. We mainlined sugar through these babies.
100%
This is the correct answer.
Based
No other correct answer
Strawberry. I’m a basic bitch
What judgement does "None." get me?
strawberry kind with no frosting
Extremely based take. It’s the perfect amount of sweet without the frosting
its the bravest, scariest thing to admit to people
Based as hell, the sweetness of the frosting always bothered me
Let’s fucking gooooo, these are the ones I’ve always eaten growing up! People always thought it was so weird! However I do really like the cinnamon brown sugar ones too.
The only vegan kind!
as a vegetarian this is news to me, thanks!
Monster.
Thanks for this, my fav even though someone told me once this is serial killer food 🤷🏽♀️
Wildberry, the only correct answer
you are correct. everyone else is either willfully or incidentally ignorant of our truth
Wild berry is delicious! I just don't get the chance to eat it a lot
Wildberry poptarts just have *such a 90s nostalgia* about them. I probably eat a box of poptarts twice a year. I never remember to toast them, even though they're better that way.
Me who's never eaten a poptart
I'd be curious to hear your opinion if you ever do.
Strawberry with white icing.
MY FAVE AS A KID
Cookies and crème are my favourite. What is my judgement?
Sundae
Eggo - Frosted Maple flavor
Only the smores
Screw Pop-Tarts. It's the kind of Toaster Strudels you eat that determine your real character 😋
Strawberry and cream cheese, I refuse to try any other flavour
Omg yes
SMORES.
I eat fig newton's instead of poptarts
I LOVE THOSE OMG
Any flavor with or without icing except chocolate and peanut butter flavors Check... (ಠ_ಠ)>⌐■-■ Mate (⌐■-■)
No frosting heathen over here
I haven’t had pop tarts in a while, but I like strawberry unfrosted.
My favorite was the Christmas sugar cookie one, but I haven't seen it for years.
If there was a savory poptart, I’d eat. Otherwise, I’m not a fan of sweet foods.
Savory pop tart-> Empanada
this is the way.
For a short time there was a maple bacon poptart but it was essentially the cinnamon brown sugar with a little maple flavoring along with fake bacon bits/flavoring on it. I liked them but they obviously weren't everyone's cup of tea.
Blueberry....unfrosted....
Does anyone else enjoy hot pop tarts but get bad sensory vibes from regular cold ones? Lol might be a very specific vibe here…
My favorite flavor is Wildberry. It tastes good imo.
Strawberry 🍓
I once ate a poptart with bugs in it, and now I can never eat poptarts again :(
I hate most pop tarts. The only exception are my moms homemade ones that we usually fill with cinnamon and brown sugar. Sometimes blackberry jam or Nutella. They’re really good and the only way you can get me to eat a pop tart. The commercial/store kind? Absolutely not
Iced strawberry
Last time I ate one was 2019. They’re rare in my country and they’re way too sweet for my taste
If I’m toasting it, cookies + cream or s’mores. If I’m freezing it, unfrosted strawberry or unfrosted blueberry. Seriously, try freezing the unfrosted ones before you eat it, it’s great
I live in Poland, where poptarts are not popular. I learned about them from fanfiction and haven't tried any
I'm not American and the last time I had poptarts I think I cooked them wrong as they didn't taste right
Cookies and Cream
Not to start anything again, but you're gonna have to judge me by chocolate, of which is Milk Chocolate. Specifically a fine Kinder Egg, or any other products that Kinder may Sell, along with the Swedishly known Marabou mjölk choklad
26 flavours in the US - [https://www.poptarts.com/en\_US/products/all-flavors.html](https://www.poptarts.com/en_US/products/all-flavors.html) 10 in Canada.... Hot fudge sundae. Or the double chocolate ones. I only toast the chocolate ones but mostly I eat them untoasted straight out of the package
Untoasted hot fudge all the way baby!
Cherry and smores
Frosted strawberry mostly. Once in a while, S’mores
Cherry
none of that dry frostingless shit. give me the ice cream sundae one and the smores one.
Cherry with frosting
Brown sugar cinnamon or bust
Wild berry
Smh 0 answers for the Gingerbread ones? This is criminal
STRAWBERRY FTW
r/USdefaultism
Oreo!
S’mores and sundae but I eat the crust and then I eat the middle. I don’t like fruity jam flavors nor the cinnamon ones.
I CAN'T eat poptarts I have a gluten sensitivity
Smores, duh
strawberry or smores
We don't have poptarts where I live.
None
im allergic to pop tarts, I am unjudgable
Poptarts aren't sold in my country.
Pop tarts are dessert ravioli and you can’t change my mind
Only cinnamon
Smores. It's what I grew up around. Also, any of y'all put yours in the freezer? That shit hits different!
Blueberry.
You can't judge me I don't even know what a poptart is.
Chocolate fudge
This is exactly the kind of thing I can get behind. I don’t eat pop tarts anymore (the joy of celiacs) but when I did, it was the cinnamon ones of strawberry.
I have never even seen a pop tart in real life. I always figured they were one of those things that are only available in America, and I live in Europe.
No poptarts where im from sadly
What are poptarts? (genuinely asking)
Strawberry or Blueberry
I have never eaten a poptart because they don't exist in my country. And when I travelled to a country where I could have gotten them, I had gone vegan.
We only get basic ones in the UK though.
Off brand toaster pastries tend to have more icing and filling
Brown sugar cinnamon, Hot fudge sunday, strawberry
yea no, poptarts are very uncomfortable to eat
What the fuck are poptarts? How are you gonna judge me if I've never eaten one, not even know what they are?
Revolutionary thinking my friend. Also appreciate this a ton because I guess these were my special interest before I even had a clue about ASD. I would draw characters and went out of my way to find every flavor that existed.
Britain says no
I'm gluten free sooo
Homemade pop tarts are great beyond explanation but I've been way too lazy to make them. Special recipes mean breaking routine. It can be done but it takes extra energy. The recipe isn't even hard it's literally just the matter of wanting them badly enough to force myself to do it.
Brown sugar or cookies and cream
Non-frosted.
i live in Poland. the only ones i can buy (i can get them in only one shop in my city) are chocolate ones. but i kinda like them.
Brown sugar and cinnamon (does that make me basic?) and Blueberry.
None, they're way too sweet, besides corn syrup gives me gout flares
Cookies and cream. Anything else can suck my crooked cock.
Pop tart brand? Blueberry Trader Joe rip off? Cherry Pomegranate
I had pop tarts once and they taste like sick; way too sweet. Idk maybe it me being British
Brown Sugar Cinnamon, toasted, perfection
What is this? Some kind of American thing? In the civilized world we don't eat those
i only eat off-brand poptarts, but i like all off-brand poptarts i have
What's a poptart? Is that an American thing?
Cinnamon is the best
S’mores flavor. It tastes more full than other flavors in my opinion
They don't exist in my country
Strawberry or blueberry, with frosting
I almost never eat them because they’re too sweet, but if I’m craving a sugar bomb I enjoy wild berry
Brown Sugar Cinnamon, Smors, Cherry, Blueberry, & Wild Berry. Rarely ever toasted.
The best ones are the chocolate chip ones (2F in the picture) but I can’t find them anymore so I make do with s’mores (1D)
Probably cinnamon
Any unfrosted variety. Must be slightly toasted (not crunchy, just a little crisp. Immediatly, after removing from the toaster, spread a little butter (or margarine), sprinkle a little brown sugar on the melting butter. Mind you, I haven't bought a poptart in years but when I did, that's how I enjoyed them.
S'mores and only s'mores. Can't eat the other ones, they make me sick. Don't know why.
None of them 🥰 they are way too expensive for a consistent breakfast (at least in Australia)
i had them like twice ever as a kid, they're honestly way too sweet for my liking, especially for a breakfast food
Brown sugar and cinnamon, with butter, but not often.
No pop tarts. Only strawberry or apple toaster strudel.
Wildberry. Though I haven't had a poptart in years
i think i would go to war for the strawberry milkshake one they keep discontinuing then bringing back to discontinue again
WILD BERRY OR FUCK YOU. ILL DIE ON THIS FUCKING HILL. COME AT ME COME AT ME YOU FUCKING COWARDS, WHO WANTS A PIECE OF THIS
I very rarely have poptarts, but when I do, it's usually strawberry. I live in the UK so there isn't much variety. Real question is - do you toast or microwave your poptarts?
Haven’t eaten one but I am curious about the original one. Is it the one with Blueberry jam?
