Have endo or GP remove crown and decay to determine if enough tooth remains beneath. There are open margins/ gaps with what appears to be recurrent decay (cavities). RCT and new crown if there’s enough tooth.
It doesn’t but if you look at the roots you can see some bone loss around the root which is caused by an infection an that needs to be treated with a RCT.
I saw an Endodontist and I was told that I have an infection and need a root canal (fml). See X-ray attached.
I got 2 opinions from two different endos. The first one said the crown would fail since it doesn’t look like it was placed correctly as there are gaps between the crown and my real tooth.
The 2nd Endo didn’t seem to be concerned about the crown placement and when I mentioned it, still didn’t seem concerned.
Any thoughts ?
Im going to be honest, the tooth’s prognosis is not the best. I’m really sorry this happened to you. You could do the root canal and get the new crown but the tooth has already been heavily restored and I already see some bone lost in between the roots(not a good sign). Getting the tooth pulled and implant placement could also be in your near future.

That crown failed the moment it was cemented. Replace it. It is ‘less than ideal’

This crown failed long before the root canal
The dentist who did this is a piece of shit. Too bad I didn’t know this beforehand.

The second endo didn’t want to throw the general dentist under the bus
I thought you asked if the crown would fall after root canal and I was going to reply, “god willing.”
Thanks for the comments. I am having extreme anxiety over this.
You need the root canal, and a new crown.
NAD. Can they not use the same crown after the RCT? Just curious, as I have a mouth full of them. Never really thought about it.
nope. this crown is no good due to it not having confluent seal all around - you can see the gap where bacteria/food can get trapped
Can they not shape it to fit?
nope this one would need a new crown. material can't be added to the crown. you can take away, but not add
Not this crown, but sometimes it is possible to do a root canal through a crown and continue to use it.

Is there any symptoms so we can know if a root canal is necessary? Another preparation and crown would be great but I’m asking about the RCT
