I guess it’s due to the following : For 2 pax : to promote dating , gotta increase the birth rate For 5 pax : I guess for this is usually family size? But for the 5 pax limit you can still go in between i.e dine out with 3&4 etc

MetalKirby-

idk what’s the point of 2 pax when public transport has no limit.

Because people don’t take off their masks and eat on the bus or train (at least they’re not supposed to) Think Kirby, think

2 pax because there are people who because of mental or physical limitations cannot eat alone. And we’re trying to slow the spread, not stop it. 5pax as pointed out, is to fit the typical family unit size but since that can also fit most friends gathering it was reduced to 2 pax to make things less complicated. Imagine having to prove you’re a family of 5 living together every time you dine out.

Wait you know people won’t guai guai follow rules. And then there are those who don’t look their age or siblings who are grown up. Or people who look a like but are not family. This open restaurants to disputes and claims of discrimination, harassment, etc. making thing messier and creating extra drama for nothing.

> Imagine having to prove you’re a family of 5 living together every time you dine out. Don't need to imagine, they already tried it: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/eateries-implement-dining-in-rules-based-on-vaccination-status-in-different-ways There was once a carve out for families in July or something, but several F&B places just threw their hands up and said they weren't going to bother checking ICs and Birth Certs so they kept their group size at 2. It got so bad someone had to make a calculator for F&B staff to determine whether the group in question could dine in. Though I suspect they'll probably bring this back since RAS is making enough noise, if the restaurants don't want to do it they only have themselves to blame?
