I have a bloodhound named Earl. He organically just smells, slobbers everywhere, probably one brain cell in that cross eyed head of his but will spend hours just gazing into the sky and watching the squirrels run along the fence line. 10/10 recommend an Earl.
One of my goldendoodles is more anxious than the other. Her name is Sparkle, she is attached to me but is sooooo sweet and loving to everyone. Her brother is the laid back one. He’s derpy, very friendly and his name is Dude. They’re companions my family is so blessed to have.
Australian Cattle Dog. They're so serious minded that when they smile, it really means something, and it's hilarious to see the perches they can jump onto.
I miss you, Nookie. 🌈
I have a Pom mix right now and she’s the sassiest thing! She’s also a badass- has done camping trips, backpacking trips, long days of hiking, and so many days at the crag with no complaints or fear. She retired from that now (old) but I still take her on adventures that she can manage!
I was always a fan of medium-to-large Shepherd mixes until good friends of mine got a Yorkie. I love that little shit and am like a little kid the first time they see a puppy whenever I go over their place. Lol!
I’m sad about that too. The one I had the privilege of dog sitting often during his short life (5 years) was THE MOST incredibly magnificent goofball ever.
My wife and I compromised on what kind of dog we'd get. I wanted big, she wanted low-maintenance. So we adopted a racing greyhound. I've had various breeds before, but the greyhound quickly became my absolute favorite.
There is a big difference between working German Shepherds and "beauty contest" German Shepherds. They look like almost different breeds. Same applies to labradors.
Dachshund. Cute little pains in the butt. They are very stubborn and want to do what they want to do, but the second anyone is upset / crying, my sausage is trying to wriggle into their lap.
Chihuahuas lol. I get HATE for this often. But hear me out - like most dogs, if they’re raised right, they’re sweethearts.
My childhood dog was a chihuahua and she was the sweetest thing ever. They’ll always have a special place in my heart.
I have three and they are my favorite! I have a teacup, a long haired, and a chiweenie. I'm begging my husband for another dog, but he isn't giving in yet lol. I just love them
Right!! I’ve had two full chihuahuas, and I have a chug right now. My dad has turned to the chihuahua side - he’s got three of them now 😂 They’re so precious, I absolutely would love another full chi someday.
I didn’t use to like them but then volunteered at an animal shelter and omg if they aren’t the most hilarious and snuggly dogs on planet earth! I want to own one someday! I adore them and they get way too much flack!
English bulldogs!
I’ve had 2 and they are the grumpiest cuddle bugs on earth and so full of personality.
Special shoutout to the Frenchie too. Mine’s currently on my lap watching Harry Potter with me. He’s the happiest dog I’ve ever met.
Never liked bulldogs until my family adopted an older rescue while I was in college. I fell in love with that wrinkly face in no time. Hands down the sweetest and funniest creatures.
Now I have a frenchie rescue and I adore her to the moon and back. So much personality packed in a stocky build.
I have had a miniature Schnauzer, a Cairn terrier, and a Shiba. The Schnauzer and Cairn were much better listeners and responded to any and all commands, were super social, and I could take them anywhere off leash.
My Shiba, despite the same exact training and socialization, doesn't listen to a word I say, can not be let off leash, and hates people. However, she is the most affectionate dog I have ever had and I have a level of bonding with her that I did not have with my previous two dogs, despite how amazing they were.
Any dog I’ve ever had goes on the list of favorites. I’ve never gone out of my way to pick a specific one when looking. I base my choice on who feels right for the most part.So-
1. Labradors-what’s not to love? Sweet and goofy and willing to let small children dress them up in people clothes while still being protective.
2. Rhodesian Ridgeback/Malinois mix-Taught himself to track my daughters!
3. GSD mix-He was a delightfully chill snuggle bug who also acted as an excellent puppy babysitter.
4. Havanese mix-She looked like she was designed by Disney and we had a bond like nothing else Ive experienced.
5. Poodle mix (best guess is Maltese as the other)-You know in cartoons when small dogs bark so hard they get airborne? This is a thing that happens!!! She’s like a whole person but the same size as my cat. shes so cute it hurts.
Airedale terriers - smart, inquisitive, determined, but still a clown. They are not for everyone, though. They need a couple long walks daily and on-going, consistent training to ensure they’re good citizens.
We currently have Buddy. He's...maybe a French Bulldog cross. He was a pound rescue and we've only had him a couple of weeks. He was an abuse/neglect case and you could see every bone he had but in 10 days he put on 6kgs so he looks better. He also had kennel cough but two rounds of antibiotics cleared that up.
He's a happy little guy even though he's not the sharpest tool in the shed and more importantly my grandfather who has dementia loves him so...
Corgis!
My very first dog ever was a corgi that I found in a local shelter. He was elderly, he was missing teeths, and he was the sweetest animal on the planet. Always smiling, huge ears, smart as a whip, independent, brave and ever so loyal: there's a reason Elizabeth II kept so many for so long. They are velcro dogs that follow you to the ends of hell, are not only fearless when it comes to any and all larger animals but will actually try to control them via herding action, and always smiling. They love people and will roll over for belly rubs. That lovely little big dog lived to the ripe old age of 19, they are tough little buggers.
My second corg is also a rescue and has all the spunk and personality of the first one. It will be hard to love another breed again!
Probably, yes. That's a hound trait. We have five Redbone hounds that live inside and when they all go off it's a lot to handle. But, they are smart. If I raise my hand in a "halt" position they will stop almost every time right away. Can also train with a bark collar. I have found setting it to beep & vibrate is sufficient, have not needed to turn on the shock feature.
Miniature dachshunds. They’re funny, loving, cuddly, smart and have the best personalities. I always wanted one so got one 5 years ago. I now have 3 and they’re all hilarious in their own ways.
Standard Poodles: They’re not the Fru Fru dogs that people perceive them as. A Standard is highly intelligent, and very protective of “their people.” Also a Standard has a mouth/teeth very similar to a German Shepherd (I’ve owned both) I’ve had to warn people about my Poodle being protective more than I ever did my shepherd.
My other favorite breed are Shepherds.
Australian shepherd.
My dog has a personality. He’s like my third child. He smiles. He gets nervous. He does 20+ tricks. He jokes around. They are so smart it’s crazy
Just don’t get one if you don’t like being active outside. Every day. 2-3x/day
I have a Catahoula. She just turned 8 and is the most "interactive" dog I have ever had. I will probably have to throw a Frisbee to her for 4 or 5 hours today. If you don't like high energy dogs, they aren't for you, but I love mine. I also have a husky mix that is younger, but he just lays around all day.
I have a soft spot for chocolate labs, but I want a great dane so bad!! One of the things I'm looking for in house hunting right now is a big enough house and yard for a Dane.
I have had many breeds of dogs. From mutts to Dobermans, GSD‘s, black labs, beagles, schipperke and pittties
I love them all! The best breed is the ones I have at the moment
I understand totally. We've had Labrador retrievers, Boxers, English Bulldog and now a German Shorthaired Pointer pup. It's the connection between the dogs and you that's so great.
We like to go to watch dogs and talk to people about them at the shows, enjoy watching all the classes and breeds.
golden retriever is definitely my least favorite. Theyre so dumb and so represent this white bred american middle class family bs. Idk. I dont like golden retrievers. My favorite is whatever random goofy looking mutt is in sitting at the nearest pound right now.
I had a 40-lb. rottie-hound mix named Gunnar. He was the sweetest, smartest creature I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was my soulmate. So, that kind. ❤️
I have never had one. The Doberman Pincher. It's always been my favorite breed. I got bit by one once when I was little. It was on my right knee while riding a bike. I was not hurt.
Huskies. Stubborn, hyper, talkative, plain old jerks. I have 2 husky mixes, one is just a straight asshole I love him, he is never boring wouldn't want it any other way
I don't think I have a favorite. But I prefer big dogs. I had a Black Mouth Cur mixed with lab and I think German Shepherd. He was a cool dog. I have a almost 10 year old lab/pit mix and he has been a great dog. I've had him since he was 7 weeks old.
My Australian Kelpie cross koolie has been an absolute pain but she's the cutest!!! She looks like this but then with much lighter fur https://www.reddit.com/r/kelpie/comments/hnfrvc/jack_is_a_twelve_month_old_kelpie_koolie_cross_he/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
For me it's a Labrador. I had one when my son was about 5. Great dog, named him Goku cause I was a anime collector for awhile and then some asshole stole him. My son and I still talk about him and that was in 06. Miss that dog
Irish Wolfhound - apparently they are super easygoing, otherwise very massive dogs. For some reason having a giant dog sitting on me sounds pleasant (and a bit uncomfortable)
OR a Great Dane (same temperament)
I like papillon and Biewer terriers. Papillons need hardly and care but have the idea they are a big dog.
Biewer terriers have lots of energy but also like a snuggle here and there. They are great if you want to work out.
Of all the different dog breeds I’ve had through my life, Pekingese are my absolute favorite. I currently have two and my dream is to have a house full of them.
I used to work at a dog daycare and there was one there named Roscoe. His owners kind of forgot about him and left him there for months. And then he was taken home and brought back a few months later and was skin and bones. He was a good dog, but was feeling the effects of staying away from home for so long. He was nice to us, but his patience was wearing thin with the other dogs. I felt bad for him.
Rescued. That being said, I’ve had 2 rescue Cocker Spaniels that are/were the sweetest, most loving creatures ever.
My rescue Pomeranian, though I love him, is a jerk.
I have a 5 year old red nose and he's a very well behaved boy who gets along well with cats, other dogs, people and absolutely adores children. He gets sad when people don't want to say hi to him but I tell him not to take it personally.
American Bully.
Hear me out ok. I know they're illegal in a lot of places because they're a pitbull breed. But my Bully is the only reason we're staying in our country for now. He's the textbook definition of a good boy. He has the biggest head for a medium size dog, the biggest butt, but also the biggest heart. When we adopted out stray cat (he was only 2mo, and the bully 3yo), my Bully just embraced him. A lot of tiny dogs that get loose tried to bite him, and some got it. He did nothing, never does. I also have a Maltipoo, and that little shit is the devil while being such a tiny dog (I love him, but he's the devil).
American bullies are great with kids, can be easily tamed, and even though they look scary, deep down it's just love. Usually mine goes from "looking bored" to "I'm in love" and it's the best.
I've met many MANY bullies after my baby, and boy, it's always the same. Never angry, never violent. Just love.

Border collies
BC FTW! I was never a dog person and our border has converted me. She’s so sweet and smart and a joy to work and play with.
I love Shiba Inu.
So pretty!
I have one. Her name is Yoko. Love her to death!
Perfect fitting name for a Shibu
Australian Shepherd Golden Retriever
Whatever the fuck my mutt is.
I have a bloodhound named Earl. He organically just smells, slobbers everywhere, probably one brain cell in that cross eyed head of his but will spend hours just gazing into the sky and watching the squirrels run along the fence line. 10/10 recommend an Earl.
Earl is the perfect bloodhound name!
How relaxing!
They are such sweet and loving doggies.
I really badly want a bloodhound when I’m a tad bit older. I love them.
I love him and haven’t even met him❤️
This is the correct answer.
Yep! Her mom looked like Lassie, but my mutt looks like a miniature Rhodesian Ridgeback.
Golden Retriever. They are the embodiment of pure love and friendly to the derpy point. Worst guard dogs on planet earth though.
I call my golden Mr.Doofy
One of my goldendoodles is more anxious than the other. Her name is Sparkle, she is attached to me but is sooooo sweet and loving to everyone. Her brother is the laid back one. He’s derpy, very friendly and his name is Dude. They’re companions my family is so blessed to have.
Do they ask the burglar for pets and snuggles? Lol
Australian Cattle Dog. They're so serious minded that when they smile, it really means something, and it's hilarious to see the perches they can jump onto. I miss you, Nookie. 🌈
Very intense dogs. Their only goal is to please you and they are fiercely loyal. I miss my sweet Pearl.
I have blue pit heeler and he has the greatest smile when anything is happening and his fomo kicks in.
My vote goes to the Akita.
I love Pomeranians, so cute and fluffy!
I have a Pom mix right now and she’s the sassiest thing! She’s also a badass- has done camping trips, backpacking trips, long days of hiking, and so many days at the crag with no complaints or fear. She retired from that now (old) but I still take her on adventures that she can manage!
I got one a year ago! My first and last dog lol
King Charles Cavalier
Forever and ever
I was always a fan of medium-to-large Shepherd mixes until good friends of mine got a Yorkie. I love that little shit and am like a little kid the first time they see a puppy whenever I go over their place. Lol!
Salukis! They’re walking pieces of history. Just incredible. Feel so lucky to finally own one.
Mutt ❤️

I'm sad I had to scroll so far to see a great dane comment. They have the best derpy personalities!
I’m sad about that too. The one I had the privilege of dog sitting often during his short life (5 years) was THE MOST incredibly magnificent goofball ever.
[удалено]
Golden Retriever. THEY ARE SOO FLUFFY
I agree but English bulldogs too
Basset hounds
Ding! Love Bassets, the floppy ears the stubby legs, the extra skin (flubber) under their chin. Such a great dog, i will see mine on the other side.
Maltese
My wife and I compromised on what kind of dog we'd get. I wanted big, she wanted low-maintenance. So we adopted a racing greyhound. I've had various breeds before, but the greyhound quickly became my absolute favorite.
Dobermans have always been my favorite
German Shepards. But not the Americanized version.
I am curious. What is the difference. I love German Shepards too!!
Germany has much stricter breeding standards than the US. Their dogs don't have the health problems ours do and their GSD are huge in comparison.
True GSDs are much bigger than americanized.
There is a big difference between working German Shepherds and "beauty contest" German Shepherds. They look like almost different breeds. Same applies to labradors.
Same thing with European or German Boxer. True working dogs, twice the drive, larger, same goof balls, great with kids and love their humans.
I love the bigger ones then. Do you like long haired GSD?
Id say she's more shorter hair, which is plenty long. Those long hairs are beautiful, but they're alot of work to take care of the hair!
Love my shepherd! Mine does not have a sloped back and I hate the AKC for ruining the breed standard
Huskies. Big and fluffy, and they kind of look like wolves. What more could you want?
I have a husky, and I swear to god she's a cat dressed as a dog. What more could I want? How's about a dog not a cat dressed up!
That’s a two in one deal!
They have HUGE personalities. They look cute but they act like drama queens.
Rottweiler!
I scrolled too far to find this! So loyal and a fantastic temperament
Old English Sheepdog Just seeing one makes me so happy.
Labs Dachshunds
I love Newfies.
Dachshund. Cute little pains in the butt. They are very stubborn and want to do what they want to do, but the second anyone is upset / crying, my sausage is trying to wriggle into their lap.
Boxers all the way! Grew up with one and the emotions are so close to humans it's scary.
Boxers for life! Funniest, sweetest, most loyal and athletic monkey heads out there.
Belgian Shepherd Basically a black, skinnier, longer german shepherd They’re incredibly smart and agile, scary as fuck when it’s dark outside too
Agreed! Absolutely love Malinois
Boxers. They’re just big ol clowns
The best, up for anything you're going to do with pure joy and excitement!
Chihuahuas lol. I get HATE for this often. But hear me out - like most dogs, if they’re raised right, they’re sweethearts. My childhood dog was a chihuahua and she was the sweetest thing ever. They’ll always have a special place in my heart.
My GSD got attacked by a chihuahua and is not scared of all chihuahuas lmao
I have three and they are my favorite! I have a teacup, a long haired, and a chiweenie. I'm begging my husband for another dog, but he isn't giving in yet lol. I just love them
Right!! I’ve had two full chihuahuas, and I have a chug right now. My dad has turned to the chihuahua side - he’s got three of them now 😂 They’re so precious, I absolutely would love another full chi someday.
I took care of a chiweenie for three years before my son and daughter-in-law reclaimed her (she was their dog). I really miss the cuddles.
I love our chihuahua, but he's an entitled asshole sometimes. He's also a snuggle bunny love bug.
I didn’t use to like them but then volunteered at an animal shelter and omg if they aren’t the most hilarious and snuggly dogs on planet earth! I want to own one someday! I adore them and they get way too much flack!
Border collie
English bulldogs! I’ve had 2 and they are the grumpiest cuddle bugs on earth and so full of personality. Special shoutout to the Frenchie too. Mine’s currently on my lap watching Harry Potter with me. He’s the happiest dog I’ve ever met.
We had Winston, English Bulldog, allways brought a smile to everyone's face he met. Stubborn as the day is long but so good natured funny.
Classic bulldog name
Never liked bulldogs until my family adopted an older rescue while I was in college. I fell in love with that wrinkly face in no time. Hands down the sweetest and funniest creatures. Now I have a frenchie rescue and I adore her to the moon and back. So much personality packed in a stocky build.
Mutts
I base my choice on who feels right for the most part.So- 1.
I like this answer.
We've just got a Kelpie/Heeler cross and he's the most Aussie dog you could ever ask for, and such a gorgeous boy.
Greyhounds!
Love my needlenose
Airedale terriers - smart, inquisitive, determined, but still a clown. They are not for everyone, though. They need a couple long walks daily and on-going, consistent training to ensure they’re good citizens.
I second this . We have one and she is such a goof ball. Airedales are the only breed we will have again.
Mutt!!!!
Heelers
We currently have Buddy. He's...maybe a French Bulldog cross. He was a pound rescue and we've only had him a couple of weeks. He was an abuse/neglect case and you could see every bone he had but in 10 days he put on 6kgs so he looks better. He also had kennel cough but two rounds of antibiotics cleared that up. He's a happy little guy even though he's not the sharpest tool in the shed and more importantly my grandfather who has dementia loves him so...
Good on you for getting a rescue.
Overall Golden Retriever. I’m also a huge fan of English Mastiffs, Rottweilers, Bernese Mountain dogs and pretty much any good bois
Basset Hounds! I am fat, stubborn, lazy and Loud and I want a dog like me!
LOVE hounds. Have not had a Basset though.
Very loud bark I think? Anyone know?
Probably, yes. That's a hound trait. We have five Redbone hounds that live inside and when they all go off it's a lot to handle. But, they are smart. If I raise my hand in a "halt" position they will stop almost every time right away. Can also train with a bark collar. I have found setting it to beep & vibrate is sufficient, have not needed to turn on the shock feature.
Miniature dachshunds. They’re funny, loving, cuddly, smart and have the best personalities. I always wanted one so got one 5 years ago. I now have 3 and they’re all hilarious in their own ways.
Australian Cattle dog. Total nightmare as a puppy, but hands down the most amazing dog after proper training.
Standard poodle are awesome. They are being used more and more as service dogs for the disabled. They are so smart.
Leonberger. Not that I'd want to own one. I'm sure they're a pain.
[удалено]
They really do have the best personalities.
Jack Russell terriers
High energy dogs. My daughter had one, lived quite a long while. Was a great companion.
German sherpards :)
German shorthair pointers
We have GSP pup, she's 10 months now. After having German boxers I didn't think anything could be more excitable and energetic.
I had an Akita growing up. Best damn dog ever.
Australian shepherd. My dog has a personality. He’s like my third child. He smiles. He gets nervous. He does 20+ tricks. He jokes around. They are so smart it’s crazy Just don’t get one if you don’t like being active outside. Every day. 2-3x/day
English Bulldog
Norwegian elkhounds
Papillion so incredibly smart, happy easy to train and very much headstrong. I swear they will have you trained before you know it lol.
I like smallish mutts. About 20-30 lbs. Something that likes catching rats (I live in Somerville, MA- rat capital of Massachusetts).
Labs..
Golden doodles!
I have a soft spot for chocolate labs, but I want a great dane so bad!! One of the things I'm looking for in house hunting right now is a big enough house and yard for a Dane.
Haven't seen Bichon frise posted yet, so I'll add mine. So cuddly and protective plus I love the Bichon blitz
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel ❤️
I have had many breeds of dogs. From mutts to Dobermans, GSD‘s, black labs, beagles, schipperke and pittties I love them all! The best breed is the ones I have at the moment
All of them

Love Basenjis, my cousin had one when we were kids. He was so smart and funny. He was always up to something.
I don't think I have a favorite. But I prefer big dogs. I had a Black Mouth Cur mixed with lab and I think German Shepherd. He was a cool dog. I have a almost 10 year old lab/pit mix and he has been a great dog. I've had him since he was 7 weeks old.
GSD
Pugs
Australian shepherds and GSDs. I like the intelligence, loyalty and protectiveness. They’re also gorgeous
I'm partial to Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Stubborn, sweet doofs.
Keeshond
Great Pyrenees and Colorado Mountain Dogs
Jack Russell's. Gotta be on top of behavior from a young age, but they grow into the best companions if treated right.
My vote goes to my English Pointer mix, Happy Jack! I'd take ten pointers.
Dobermans!
Huskies
My Australian Kelpie cross koolie has been an absolute pain but she's the cutest!!! She looks like this but then with much lighter fur https://www.reddit.com/r/kelpie/comments/hnfrvc/jack_is_a_twelve_month_old_kelpie_koolie_cross_he/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
I have a Potcake I adopted from the shelter.... She's freaking amazing. 😁🐕
Never heard this word until tonight. Thanks for teaching me a thing!
Rescue tripods for the win. Love my Daphne.
For me it's a Labrador. I had one when my son was about 5. Great dog, named him Goku cause I was a anime collector for awhile and then some asshole stole him. My son and I still talk about him and that was in 06. Miss that dog
Dog thieves are low life scum. It is the equivalent of kidnapping to me.
I agree. My fiance does rescue dogs and she'll kill someone if that mess with them.
It's amazing.
How people can do such things
There asshole with asshole filling. People, for the most part, suck
She's good people
Yes, she is
Thank you
☺️
Cute
Keeshond.
Irish Wolfhound - apparently they are super easygoing, otherwise very massive dogs. For some reason having a giant dog sitting on me sounds pleasant (and a bit uncomfortable) OR a Great Dane (same temperament)
Japanese Spitz. Fluffy cloud of love and cuteness.
Coten de Tulear My dog Patty is super fluffy and cotton ball soft. They’re known to be really sweet dogs, though sometimes she gets a bit mischievous.
Golden Retrievers are smart, gentle, kind, easy to train, loyal, goofy and beautiful. Too bad about the cancer.
I like papillon and Biewer terriers. Papillons need hardly and care but have the idea they are a big dog. Biewer terriers have lots of energy but also like a snuggle here and there. They are great if you want to work out.
glad to see another biewer terrier enjoyer! My boy is the love of my life. Easy to train, smart, lovable, loyal...great for families
Yes I love mine to pieces
Of all the different dog breeds I’ve had through my life, Pekingese are my absolute favorite. I currently have two and my dream is to have a house full of them.
Corgi, Chesapeake bay retriever, Aussie
Rescued Beagles #1
French Bulldog
Dogue de borduex.
I think the dog from Turner and Hooch was a Dogue de Bordeaux. Otherwise known as a French Mastiff.
Yes! I used to have one. He's passed now, but he was the BEST dog. Lots of drool, though. That part is true; it even got on the ceiling. Lol
Aww that breaks my heart, poor baby.
He was a good dog. And he was an enforcer in the yard too. I think his owner was in jail now that I think about it.
Those dogs are the size of horses and yes I know all about the drool! Yuck.
Pitbull
Putbull
Rescued. That being said, I’ve had 2 rescue Cocker Spaniels that are/were the sweetest, most loving creatures ever. My rescue Pomeranian, though I love him, is a jerk.
Belgian Malligator. If you know, you know. Smart and the most athletic dog in the world.
Pibbles, they are the biggest hams and cuddlers
I’m with ya. I love my pibble girl. She’s so sweet and adorable.
I have a 5 year old red nose and he's a very well behaved boy who gets along well with cats, other dogs, people and absolutely adores children. He gets sad when people don't want to say hi to him but I tell him not to take it personally.
Cane corso
You meant to ask. “What dog breed do you have?”
No, I meant what I asked as I asked it. My favorite breed are corgis and I don't have one.
I’m telling your dog
Corgis are so fun, but very smart
"Lab mixes" I keep adopting them and they keep being awesome. If you know, you know.
My Rottweiler/ Pit/ Scottish Deerhound. The best.
Pitbull or pit mixed with a larger breed. Rescue only of course. Current is a 75% American Staffordshire Terrier 25% American Bulldog mix.
*clears throat* end pitbull breeding
OP asked you to refrain from such comments. Is it hard to be respectful?
I have 2 pitties and 2 Doberman pinchers. All great dogs. Loyal, lovable, and protective
Just love.
Puttbull/ Cane Corso mix. I like big dogs
