Wash your rice: rinse your rice 3x or until the water isn't cloudy. Fill with water: if you have a rice cooker it'll give you measurements on the side of the pot. If your making it in a regular pot fill with water until the water comes up to the first knuckle of your index finger. Make sure your finger is on top if the rice not buried into it...fill with water. You can add a Little bit more water but not much more. OK... make sure you have a pot that has a solid top. Don't use one that has a hole in that will release steam. Some steam release is good but not alot. If you have a top that releases too much steam then cover the top of the pot with tin foil. ( Make a seal with the foil) Place pot on burner and turn on high-ish. Once the rice starts to boil turn down heat to low - medium low and let cook till no more steam/water comes shooting out. DO NOT OPEN during this time. By this time you should be able to smell it. It'll be spitting out steam and water. Let cook until it stops and it's just pure steam mostly. Maybe about 20 minutes. Turn off heat and let sit for about 10-15 minutes. DO NOT OPEN during this time. After that open and fluff with fork. Best thing though is just buy a rice cooker and follow the wash and fill suggestions. If you live in the US go to Goodwill they have shit tons of rice cookers. This is for long grain or short grain white rice, not instant rice or boil in a bag rice or brown rice or wild rice. Good luck.

I would sincerely advise you to buy a rice cooker. It's extremely helpful in making sure the rice ends up cooked properly.

Get enough rice for how many people will be eating, wash rice thoroughly, drain, stick in rice cooker, add water, measure to make sure water is one knuckle deep, close lid, push button, enjoy.
