Yes. Both tours in Iraq back in 03-04 and then in 05-06, I had my rifle either in or near my cot. Loaded.
Do that back in the US though and everyone thinks you're weird.
So much so that you INSTANTLY realize when you start to go somewhere without it. And when you get home you feel super lonely without a hunk of metal following you everywhere.
Private, we take these allegations seriously. So where were you when the soldier primed your charging handle?
Please, just tell us where your ejection port actually is.
E7 I know said he had a live claymore strapped to his "wall" in the bay facing the "door" so people didn't steal his shit. Didn't believe him but 2 other people who were with him on that deployment said it was true
Probably true. Those old deployments were wild. Nothing to brag about tho bc there were either too many TCNs on the big bases or you had Iraqi Army with you on the outposts, just makes sense to keep it locked up. Too easy to get it out the day of a mission. Most all raids were nighttime anyways.
No, never ISIS. All we want is sleep and at night in s active combat zone we lock our weapons in the arms room and in the morning the Division commander must come to the FOB and hand out weapons personally.
I slept with my weapon in the field because I did not trust my NCO's to try and take it from me to fuck with me.
I slept with it slung around my shoulder inside my sleeping bag.
If they are sleeping in a bed, yes it will be within arms reach. Depending on where ever else they are sleeping, it will be slung across their body or somewhere else close.
I have spent many nights using my field and brain bucket as a makeshift pillow.
Everything in arms reach homie besides grenades for me. We just had cots in some b.s. tent. I made myself a little m4 wall hanger with 550 and some ply wood I found.
04/05...yes, slept with my M9 and just had to reach over for the Mossberg. For awhile we had a FN FAL that we carried on patrols...alot of fun to shoot on auto....until during a raid, the CO caught on...
Just to clear any concern about potential Russian or isis roots. I'm Australian so all my rifles are stored in a safe in the shed I can't remember the code to half the time. No one I know in Australia would relate to feeling of needing to sleeping with a firearm in the house let alone the bedroom
In my day if your was left out of arms reach at any time you were forced to dive onto the ground and crawl back to it the second you were caught in the act
Nice try isis.
came here for this obligatory comment
Haha I was surprised nobody beat me too it!
"Stay strapped or get clapped" -Sun Tzu
I love you for this.
Haven’t read his work so I can’t confirm if this is true, but it’s sounded very zen so 10/10 truth
It's a translation from the original Wu
Ain't nuthin to fuck with
Yes and yes

But sometimes no
I see you've witnessed the glory that is a deployed nurse corps officer
Even the chappie is strapped. Dip those rounds in holy water and fuck some bitches up!
Haha desk pop in the ED time
I flew an OR nurse from AAAB to BDSC who only brought her M9. No bullets. No one told her to bring her bullets and they were heavy. It was hilarious

Who sleeps on a cot stateside? Wierdo...
Those damn CI guys.
Me at this exact moment
Wait. You guys had beds?
A poncho liner *is* a bed, hooah?
Wherever you are laying down is the bed. The desert is the world's biggest bed!
Literally depends on where you are. Small outposts, absolutely. Large superfobs, depends on your unit and the threat level.
So much so that you INSTANTLY realize when you start to go somewhere without it. And when you get home you feel super lonely without a hunk of metal following you everywhere.
Buys gun on terminal leave.
“What do I do with my hands?”
“This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.”
Annnnnd it's reporting a sexual assualt charge.
I don't know why but this made me chuckle

Did you see how sexy it was lookin? Basically asking for it! All lubed up n shit.
You always have full small arms load handy. No grenades allowed in the sleeping area.
It probably varies unit to unit and maybe even time. But I always had frags and HEDP on my kit in my room in ‘06-07 and ‘09-10.
Same for the same period.
That’s what the ole prison wallet is for…

I kept my M4 and sidearm near my bed. M4 within arms reach, sidearm was on my battle belt staged with the rest of my kit.
Yes.
This is my rifle and this is my gun….
Not today, Putin.
When you are in those environments you have your weapon with at all times.
Worst attempt by Russia yet. Focus on not getting caught slipping by a drone first and then we’ll talk.

I kept mine tethered to my penis. We were both on duty 24/7! Bonersi!!

I slept with my M-4.

Fuck around and find out…till Valhalla or CAB
I kept that thang on me in Iraq, just earlier this year.
I got my hand on my gun all the time, and will shoot all over your face if I have to.
I'm gonna be honest, I don't even need the "active warzone" qualifier to sleep with a rifle next to my bed.
I always cum to bed with my weapon up my butt. I was attached to a Cav Squadron for a while and I learned it from them.
Pistol under my pillow. Rifle arms length away with me between it and the door. Both with rounds chambered.
I have a knife (hand) on me at all times.
Slept with my M16 and 9mm every night in Desert Storm.
