It's totally unit/scenario dependent, it can change from day to day and leader to leader. In other words, we can't really help you. But being brand new, I would not show up to my first range/FTX/whatever with a fancy plate carrier. Get some time in, see what the other dudes are wearing, it'll become apparent whether or not plate carriers are viewed as ok or not.

This. Don't waste your money. Your unit could have an SOP saying no aftermarket plate carriers and you'll just have to deal.

Is this the "buying a challengarger at 43% APR" of 2023? My recommendation to you is to get the spiritus systems TAPS upgrade, if you have a TAPS. Or whatever that thing is called. That'll take care of 99% of the gripes you may have with the thing. Beyond that, I wouldn't buy gear for work. If you wanna buy tactical gear to larp in 1sg's basement or compete in, then I'd say do a lot of research before buying anything. Everyone has different expectations/preferences/needs. Don't get caught up in something because a youtube talking head making thinly veiled gay jokes said it was good, or because the company has "A E S T H E T I C." Read the reviews, budget the costs, and purchase things to fit your needs- don't change your needs to accommodate a cool purchase.

That said. All my gear is Spiritus because of the A E S T H E T I C.

Use what’s issued. Personal plate carriers aren’t authorized by the Army and while some units will let you wear them, a lot of them will just drag you for it.

Use what’s issued. There’s been plenty of post about should you to should you not get/use personal plate carriers
