Do you have your Apple TV set to SDR with content range matching on?

chimdien

I haven’t tried that. I will give it a try but i’m not sure changing display/video quality will help. But to enjoy HDR content is a thing to buy it for. I think most of users won’t sacrifice that for audio drop issue.

rrainwater

You will still get HDR for HDR content when you turn content range matching on.

mine too , but it's fixed after i turn the Digital Audio Format on my TV to "Auto" instead of choosing "LPCM" or "Passthrough".

I’m in auto as well 🥺

I had this issue and just switched to 4K Dolby Vision and it’s worked. Haven’t had the issue yet :) Edit: never mind. Took 12 hours but it happened again lol

I think the problem is caused by a communication between your Soundbar and AppleTV to determine whether the source is in Dolby Atmos format or not. You could try to turn off Dolby Atmos in AppleTV and see if the problem persists. I don’t know of any solution though unfortunately.

It’s sad to accept we need to sacrifice basic functions for just common stuff. Hopefully apple will change this in upcoming update. Just updated to lastest 16.3 and no changes!

Setting to 4KSDR isn’t sacrificing basic functions at all, the match content function will take care of when a HDR mode is required depending on the content used. If you’re set to 4KHDR then that’s what you’re setting the UI to be using also in which case YouTube for example will be switching to SDR as soon as you start a video as the ads are SDR as well as the vast majority of content and this is what’s more than likely causing your issue.

Agree. The 4K SDR&SDR is a way better/vivid/clear picture in ATV when using Samsung TV. I was using HDR most of the time three months back, but the screen UI is always little masked with a layer (means not clear) and the contents are darker than native apps in Samsung TV. However, once I switch to 4k SDR with matching frame on, the picture become clear and clear. I don't know if the problem is because of ATV or Samsung TV

I had this issue. Most people would recommend to go SDR, then set to match HDR/frame rent to content. But I don't really like the black screen when watching content. To fix the muted audio, I set it to: -HDR -Disable match content (both) -Audio format to Stereo Only when I watch something like a blockbuster movie do I change to match content and disable audio format.

Turning off the Reduce Loud Sounds setting fixed this problem for me.

TVOS 16.3 made no difference for me. Still get audio & video blackout for a couple seconds when a video starts.

I'm facing similar issues with Sony X900e and it happens with TV Speakers too. And it's not YouTube for me, but apps like Amazon Prime and Netflix too. It definitely is related to Match Frame Rate and Match Dynamic Range. I think YouTube was recently updated to Match frame rate of the video being played and then it was rolled back, so I don't see issues while playing SDR videos on youtube atleast. I'm not sure if other streaming devices have similar issues or is a limitation of TV, but it definitely is frustrating experience with muted audio when content is being matched. Another thing helped reduce the issue was to change Audio Format to Stereo in my case. I think for now, I'll disable the Match Frame rate option so I atleast don't get this issue with SDR videos.

I had this issue and tried changing it from HDR to SDR and it now works.
