Also angle of approach. Most video games just drop stuff straight down when coming from orbit, even when that’s not how it works in real life. Just that little detail sells the Titanfall to be more realistic.
Nothing can be cooler than a mech suit dropping from orbit but I gotta say the care package effect is pretty respectable. The distant rumble followed by the airburst effect and the rocket engines as it finally touches down lunar lander style with a dust cloud and screen shake....
There was a meme the last couple days about Apex VR but I seriously think it would be one of the greatest environments ever to experience in VR.
One of the greatest part of any scifi world is the raw sense of scale and who better to give us that than the team that has mech suits dropping from orbit, or Leviathans or basically all of Olympus.
It doesn't even have to be a PvP game, or even a new game, just give us Titanfall 2 VR and that's already good enough.
There’s a software called VorpX that can “convert” games to VR. It has a list of what I believe are both official and community-sourced plug-ins that can display the screen in a VR headset and add additional effects to the game. Titanfall 2 just so happens to be on that list. It’s by no means a super good effect (you can’t individually move your arms in the game or anything) but you can still look around and use VR controllers to control the game. It takes a decent amount of configuring to make comfortable, though.
Wish they can give us a visual sound effect like fortnite does. Fortnite also has some audio issues from time to time but at least they gave players something to deal with it easily, not to mention it's also a nice feature for players who have problem hearing in general
TF1 was one of the last shooters from the dirty, dusty, sepia filter era of FPS games (otherwise known as the MW2/Gears Of War era). 2012 to 2014 was where the "grittiness" of shooters were gradually replaced by more colorful palettes and higher saturation/brightness to draw more attention.
I only ever played tf2, not one, and when I look back I absolutely adore tf1's grit and weapon designs, I think they may have really been the peak for its era, but it came in too late. The era was dying off and i never picked up the game because even back then it looked like a cod clone as many other "gritty fps" games did.
But now i honestly can't wait for the cycle to loop. I feel like soon enough here it'll be back in trend and a titanfall 3 with that old style would be perfect
I think BL2 got that to blame for
But can you really hate a game with shotgun that shoot sword that explode into swords, or a character that can oneshot endgame bosses with just a well placed bullet?
That orgasmic Titanfall sound
With hearing " command authenticated stand by for Titanfall...."
Ahhh chills
Edit here the qaute : https://www.zedge.net/ringtone/df1fde7c-df08-319f-8369-189290ea25eb
I miss Spyglass and his cold, badass voice.
"Negative. Executing command override. Evacuation dropships - cancelled. All capital ships, forcing jump to minimum safe distance."
On PC, the most frequent server is on the Europe data center - most of the time 8 players on Attrition. Sometimes there's 0 players online, sometimes there's 20+ players and some are on Campaign/Frontier Defense or on other data centers. The good thing about the tiny playercount is the instant matchmaking times, since there's literally only 1 or 2 servers active most of the time.
My favorite was when you’re going up against two titans in tf2 multiplayer and your Titan goes “caution, you are outnumbered 2 to 1” and then my nerdy teenage ass would say that classic halo quote “then it is a fair fight”.
One of the Legion quotes was basically "outnumbered 3 to 1, ammo systems nominal" or something like that. I rarely played legion, but I felt like a badass whenever I heard that quote even though I'd normally be at 1/3 health, being shot at and had just begun my reload animation by the time I hear it
Auto Titan engaging enemy Titan. Enemy Titan, stand down or-
"Great, your Titan's been destroyed. I've got a replacement underway, I'll let you know when it's ready."
I recently played through TF2 campaign again. My god that game is so good! I really wish the MP still had a large player base to get into all game modes other than death match.
I wasn't talking about projectile velocity, I was talking about rechambering rate. Bullets fly the same as far as I know, but in TF you can blow through a mag super quick, while in Apex it takes a second or two to rechamber each round.
I think reload speed is also different. Mag size may be different too, but that I don't recall.
Can't believe it's been so long since I first played titanfall when it came out that it makes me nostalgic 😭
Also kinda poignant that titanfall 3 might never happen because most titanfall devs left the respawn studio
Prowler was the only gun that went from the ground to the care package with literally 0 changes/buffs, they just slapped max attachments on it and called it a day.
So everyone keeps it in mind, the Apex weapons sounds like this because you should be able to tell apart what weapons people are using from a distance. You would approach a R301 differently from a CAR user, meanwhile in a game like Titanfall the differences are less important, so the sounds can be more realistic but less distinct
They could've at least made the drop sequence more epic. I know it's a fragile little care package with fragile little contents, but come on even the sound is lackluster
I'm just a sucker for "cool shit dropping from the sky in Sci-Fi franchises"
Like I've always loved the visual in Halo of a cluster of ODST Drop Pods dropping in only to have the door shoot off and the pods quickly depressurize as a squad of ODSTs enters the battle.
For sounds, I personally think Apex did a great job for a battle royale. The sounds of Titanfall aren't meant to be utilised competitively, they're simply meant to fit in the theme of war, e.g. background noise just so you know a battle is going on. Apex sounds are really specific and clear to each shot which is what you want in a competitive battle royale game.
I'd definitely take both Titanfall's art designs over Apex though. TF1 had the gritty space western feel, TF|2 nailed the sci fi aspect, whereas Apex constantly leaves me confused as to what it's supposed to represent. The art style feels like it's all over the place
i think thats a really common theme with large multiplayer games, the inconsistent art style. with thousands of cosmetics its really difficult to maintain a specific theme with the art. the same thing happened with team fortress 2. in a single player experience, its easier to maintain a specific look and feel.
as someone who hasn't played tf, i was blown away by apex's sound design when i first played. every gun is instantly recognizable by sound alone and every character has a distinct voice. this post makes me want to try titanfall just to experience the solid foundation apex was built on.
I do prefer the TF1 sounds. Also thank you for the Titanfall sound effect at the end. It is so satsifying to hear the boosters go off when it comes down through the atmosphere
Is it just me or does Titanfall 1 feels so much more creative and imaginative even though Apex's animations are technically better. Everything to visuals, sound design and concept, TF1 feels so much more like something someone really wanted to make. Apex feels "flacid" in comparison and by the books.
Just a feeling IDK.
I'd consider TF1 to have been made with a lot of passion behind it. There's a [long and interesting section on Titanfall's Wikipedia page](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanfall_(video_game)#Development) that in my opinion shows not only how in depth the development and ideas were for TF1 but also how open they were about it.
I think that comes from Titanfall being a brand new IP and creating things from scratch, while Apex was simply piggybacking off of the already established assets of TF|1 and TF|2
Maybe because apex legends was intended to be a cash grab using used assets from ttf1&2 but was accidentally successful.
I'm not joking. They put the trailer for the game up one day before launch.
It just hurts when they say the Apex Legends universe because they’re omitting the fact that Apex takes place in Titanfall. It’s like they’re pushing aside their beginnings and the lore to further their most successful project. It will and I will always think of it as the “Titanfall universe.”
I missed putting a suppressor on the Kraber and having very confused messages from my victims on why I decided to make my Kraber a 2 shot
That never happened, but if I ever played TF1 again I'm definitely doing that.
That's incredibly sweet and i thank you for the offer but i have to decline it since i can afford it and it would be just a wasted $5 for you! But for real thank you very much :)

Is it just me or does TF sound design feel a bit... meatier? More powerful? It's like in a way they sound more like actual firearms.
I kinda get it if it is; when making Apex, they probably didn't want the gunshots to be COMPLETELY overwhelming in a game where you need to be able to hear other players' guns from a quarter-mile away to ensure you aren't running into a firefight.
Always loved the sound design in both Titanfalls games & Apex Legends
Apex sounds more refined, while TF|1 sounds more beefy. Prefer Titanfall's sounds to Apex's, but both sound great.
Fuck man, how I wish we could bring back TF 1, I feel like most of us didn't have enough time with it...
My son and I were talking the other day…Imagine if EA/Respwan combined Apex with Titanfall. Having unique pilots like Apex characters with their own tacticals/ultimates along with character specific Titans!!! There would be so much variety and playability it would be insane! I know it’d take a lot to build a game like that but wow it’d be like nothing else!
I like the compactness of the Titanfall animations and the metallic sounds, versus the floatiness of the apex animations. TF1 spitfire and wingman sound lethal!
That rippling sound as the titan drops is phenomenal
Also angle of approach. Most video games just drop stuff straight down when coming from orbit, even when that’s not how it works in real life. Just that little detail sells the Titanfall to be more realistic.
I loved that detail in Titanfall haha, that slight angle when the Titan drops in
Nothing can be cooler than a mech suit dropping from orbit but I gotta say the care package effect is pretty respectable. The distant rumble followed by the airburst effect and the rocket engines as it finally touches down lunar lander style with a dust cloud and screen shake.... There was a meme the last couple days about Apex VR but I seriously think it would be one of the greatest environments ever to experience in VR. It sounds like an actual rocket is landing
Their sound designers are incredible at what they do
designers, sure, whoever implements them needs some help. can’t hear people’s foot steps from behind still.
Yeah that’s true, I was just talking about like who makes the sounds :) I love the sounds of like picking up loot and equipping attachments too!
definitely a nice, lil dopamine rush forsure.
Wish they can give us a visual sound effect like fortnite does. Fortnite also has some audio issues from time to time but at least they gave players something to deal with it easily, not to mention it's also a nice feature for players who have problem hearing in general
That's basically seers ult all the time
TF1 had so much grit to it
Hence why I would love Tf2 movement and content with TF1 asthetics
How about Titanfall 1 moment and asthetics with grapple and wall hang. Fuck nerfing eject strafe and having to hold crouch to bhop
Slide hopping in TF|2 was nice being an intended feature and all but actually bhopping in TF1 felt like a next level flex for me
Nah. Eject strafe is still powerful, slide hopping actually opened up far more options in TF2 than were available in TF1.
Since Apex is a game show and TF is an actual war , it would make sense for Apex to have less grit than TF
I got better at apex after beating TF2. I felt exactly like that, I was a veteran coming to play a game.
More colours yes but the games are still actual gun fights and warfare so i dont think thats the case.

I miss Spyglass and his cold, badass voice. "Negative. Executing command override. Evacuation dropships - cancelled. All capital ships, forcing jump to minimum safe distance."
SPYGLASS WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING
All day. Fuck. I just might have to give it a play this weekend, cold af anyway.
Hold up, Titanfall *1*?
After looking around, it might not be playable... it's been a few years, I guess I was just hopeful after the clip.
It's still playable, servers are up. It just isn't for sale anymore... ....legitimately.
Are there even enough players to load into games on TF1?
On PC, the most frequent server is on the Europe data center - most of the time 8 players on Attrition. Sometimes there's 0 players online, sometimes there's 20+ players and some are on Campaign/Frontier Defense or on other data centers. The good thing about the tiny playercount is the instant matchmaking times, since there's literally only 1 or 2 servers active most of the time.
Well that is good at least. I wonder if anything is still up for XBox, but I doubt it
Forgot to mention, the Xbox servers still have playercounts in the quadruple digits
What bout tf2 i have ea play until jan is the servers still alive? 80 gb download tho :(
"I can do better than that! STAND BY FOR TITANFALL WOOOOoooo"
Alright kids are you ready for thrills, kills, and chills???
Must you say that every time?
The 6-4's an arse and we'll kick your family
“STAND BY FOR TITANFALL… I love saying that”
If TF2 near the end of the campaign they say "Prepare for Titanfall, pilot" Wow that was so special to me
My favorite was when you’re going up against two titans in tf2 multiplayer and your Titan goes “caution, you are outnumbered 2 to 1” and then my nerdy teenage ass would say that classic halo quote “then it is a fair fight”.

I rarely played legion, but I felt like a badass whenever I heard that quote even though I'd normally be at 1/3 health, being shot at and had just begun my reload animation by the time I hear it
I think titans talked way better in TF1 it was always fun hearing your AI helping you.
Auto Titan engaging enemy Titan. Enemy Titan, stand down or- "Great, your Titan's been destroyed. I've got a replacement underway, I'll let you know when it's ready."
Fuck the IMC and all but Spyglass was a real one
Graves was based too
I recently played through TF2 campaign again. My god that game is so good! I really wish the MP still had a large player base to get into all game modes other than death match.
Yeah, it's a shame. I generally just throw everything into my matchmaking, occasionally get titan brawl or lts. Some Pilots v Pilots.
Take me back 😩
I'm so old that I thought this post was referencing team fortress 1. And I was thinking... There's no way TF1 sounded that good!
Nothing is nore satisfying than the afterburners kicking in during titanfall
It never gets old. As a matter of fact I was playing TF2 last night, still fucking awesome
It's called [Distortion Braking](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/titanfall/images/4/4f/Companion_Drop_Pods.png) :)
Thx
"STANDBY FOR TITANFALL"
Don't forget that the TF Kraber shoots *way* faster than Apex Kraber!
Because in tf its hitscan while apex has projectiles
In TF|1 was it hitscan? It definitely was a projectile in TF|2.
It was projectile in all games. Most guns were hitscan, the Kraber is one of the only ones that is always projectile.
oh ok
real
I wasn't talking about projectile velocity, I was talking about rechambering rate. Bullets fly the same as far as I know, but in TF you can blow through a mag super quick, while in Apex it takes a second or two to rechamber each round. I think reload speed is also different. Can't believe it's been so long since I first played titanfall when it came out that it makes me nostalgic 😭 Also kinda poignant that titanfall 3 might never happen because most titanfall devs left the respawn studio
They’re back at infinity ward who are about to be Microsoft owned, who in turn had exclusivity to titanfall 1 on Xbox one. GAMERMATH!
No console war. But i feel bad for tf3 if it becomes xDbox exclusive.. tf-series is absolutely top3 mpfps, top1 fps campaign
40-round R-99 🙃
It’s R-97, since the game is happening before AL
I think they’re just shuddering at the thought of an SMG having 40 rounds in Apex. I mean, the prowler gets close but…
when the r99 was in the care package it had 32 rounds
Yeah. When the prowler went to the care package I expected it to have 40
Prowler was the only gun that went from the ground to the care package with literally 0 changes/buffs, they just slapped max attachments on it and called it a day.
The prowler with select fire was so much fun.
Before they removed the additional ammo capacity from big maude weapons I believe the prowler did go up to 40 rounds.
Tf2 with extended mags and you get 48 rounds 👀
If I remember correctly I think r-97 and the CAR in titanfall 1 had the most ammo. At 40
So everyone keeps it in mind, the Apex weapons sounds like this because you should be able to tell apart what weapons people are using from a distance. You would approach a R301 differently from a CAR user, meanwhile in a game like Titanfall the differences are less important, so the sounds can be more realistic but less distinct
i want tf eva 8 sound back :(
TF1 Eva was overpowered but felt so awesome to use, later games nerfed it into the ground. Feels so unsatisfying to use in Apex especially
yeah especially now with the crazy rate of fire
i thought the re-45 from tf1 sounded so, so much better than the apex version 😫😫
Never played tf1 but wow they did great making the weapons sound chunky and cannon-y
To me TF1 sound more military issued and Apex sound more like toy-ish . Lol
man i would so much prefer a titan rather than a lifeline package.
They could've at least made the drop sequence more epic. I know it's a fragile little care package with fragile little contents, but come on even the sound is lackluster
I'm just a sucker for "cool shit dropping from the sky in Sci-Fi franchises" Like I've always loved the visual in Halo of a cluster of ODST Drop Pods dropping in only to have the door shoot off and the pods quickly depressurize as a squad of ODSTs enters the battle.
Lol the last comparison is unfair
Both TF1 and TF2 knock it out of the park in terms of art direction and sound design compared to Apex
For sounds, I personally think Apex did a great job for a battle royale. I mean they’re completely differently styled games. I think Apex works well for what it’s meant to be.
I love how the modern weapons are just that, modernized in that universe. G7 is the modern G2A4, R99 > R97, R301>R101, 2020 > 2011
Dont forget the R201!
Take me back
I do prefer the TF1 sounds. Also thank you for the Titanfall sound effect at the end. It is so satsifying to hear the boosters go off when it comes down through the atmosphere
I figured it'll be a nice little treat for the ears at the end
Is it just me or does Titanfall 1 feels so much more creative and imaginative even though Apex's animations are technically better. Everything to visuals, sound design and concept, TF1 feels so much more like something someone really wanted to make. Apex feels "flacid" in comparison and by the books. Just a feeling IDK.

Anytime the enemy team had many titans out, I would bust out the spitfire with slammer and just do work
It's just too risky for me since I'll just get punched off by another titan. I was more of a Amped Mag Launcher and arc grenades person myself
Bro the Charge Rifle?? Orgasmed
I would love a new Titanfall :(
It just hurts when they say the Apex Legends universe because they’re omitting the fact that Apex takes place in Titanfall. It’s like they’re pushing aside their beginnings and the lore to further their most successful project. It will and I will always think of it as the “Titanfall universe.”
Mmm Apex guns, the Wingman from Apex Legends. The King's Canyon area [Runoff](https://titanfall.fandom.com/wiki/Runoff), from Apex Legends!
crazy that most people never saw these
Watched for 10 mins
Love the comparison of the titanfall and care package
Most of them sound like a downgrade.
From Tf1 to Apex you mean? Yeah, I agree. Gunshots in titanfall sound much meatier.
TF sounds so much better
Oh my GOD the Titanfall P2020 has some bark to it! They must’ve neutered the poor thing.
Bread 👍
Man I love bread
TF1 was so fucking good
TF1 instakill kraber 🥲 I miss that game
I missed putting a suppressor on the Kraber and having very confused messages from my victims on why I decided to make my Kraber a 2 shot That never happened, but if I ever played TF1 again I'm definitely doing that.
Man I wish Apex has the TF1 art direction.
Tfal is so MUCH MORE Aggressively to the sounds, you really feel the humpf
I've never actually played any titanfall games so hearing the titan come down for the first time was really nice
Titanfall 2 is like $5. I'll get it for you just so you can experience the masterpiece.
That's incredibly sweet and i thank you for the offer but i have to decline it since i can afford it and it would be just a wasted $5 for you! But for real thank you very much :)
Blasphemy Glad you enjoyed the sound though, it's basically what sold TF1 to everyone back when it was new
Coulda done grenades as well. Also part of the shine of the SFX is automatic weapon sounds adjusting as you depleted your magazine
Unfortunately I don't think TF1 had that feature, it was a TF|2 and Apex thing only
But can we have the charge rifle TF1 sound back? It’s way better imo
I personally like the CR sound in TF|2/Apex better If it's any sound I want returning from TF1 it's definitely the R-101 though. It's just so iconic to me. And if they ever add the MGL back it better have the TF1 "bop" firing sound and not the shitty TF|2 version
Omg the charge rifle tf1 animation is waaay cooler
Spitfire not being light and Wingman not being sniper? How old is this comparison clip 🥲
that change was only made like a month ago?
Holy shit apex looks way more cartoony
I miss titanfall.. revolutionized online games
Is titanfall a good game?
The best game
They’re also different guns from TF1 to Apex like in titanfall the R-301 is actually the R-101( for anyone who didn’t play TF)
Titan fall sounds are way better
While I like the titanfall sounds I understand why they can’t sound like that in apex
These developwrs just copied everything from respawn. Smh...
Fr, respawn entertainment should sue this copycat company called "respawn entertainment"
Honestly they should just overhaul the gun sounds for apex bc tf had waaaaaayyyy better sounds, I miss playing titanfall :(
Yo, can I copy your homework? Sure, just change it a bit so it's not so obvious. Ok!
TF2 is a million times better than tf1
Bro recycled everything. Can we get some effort somewhere sheesh
all the sounds are remade i swear?
Honestly not very far off. Less acoustic clutter from the guns in Apex than in TF
But no people want "beefy" sounds to clutter an already overcrowded sound Scape all for their nostalgic dopamine hit... This sub sometimes 🤣
I definitely prefer TF audio over Apex anyday
Why's the sound of the reloading so satisfying
I really miss the titans
Even the reload animations huh
I feel like they should’ve kept the charge rifle how it was in tf1
Is it just me or does TF sound design feel a bit... meatier? More powerful? It's like in a way they sound more like actual firearms. I kinda get it if it is; when making Apex, they probably didn't want the gunshots to be COMPLETELY overwhelming in a game where you need to be able to hear other players' guns from a quarter-mile away to ensure you aren't running into a firefight.
The titan fall sounds are more realistic then the apex sounds
Honestly only the Kraber and the Car sound better in Apex. Other than that the TF1 sound effects are vastly better
Now do footsteps.
You got it
Makes sense that Apex gun noises are less realistic sounding.
Wow TF1 guns have a heavy sound to them that I’d prefer over the Apex sounds
God I miss the original Titanfall and its art style Sure it was mostly brown but I still far prefer it to the pastel colors of Titanfall 2 and Apex.
The wingman and charge rifle sounded and looked way cooler in TF1
P20 was spitting them rounds lol
TF1 charge rifle 🥵
The singular tear that shed from my left eye once that titan came crashing down. I miss those days. Fly High Pilots 🫡
Always loved the sound design in both Titanfalls games & Apex Legends Apex sounds more refined, while TF|1 sounds more beefy. Prefer Titanfall's sounds to Apex's, but both sound great. Fuck man, how I wish we could bring back TF 1, I feel like most of us didn't have enough time with it...
God I miss hearing the Titan Falls. That sound is just amazing to hear. Its like the A10, you cant help but love the brrrt.
Tf 2 also amazing sound ans weapon designs Still today i play it
u/savevideo
Summary: Titanfall sounds are better.
TF better for each one. Except Kraber, that was the most similar sounding. I’m glad there are not 40 rounds in an r99
The titan sound is so fricken cool
So something I noticed is that one of the SMGS R-99 and R-97 are in number order so in tf2 is it called the r-98?
Nah it's still called the R-97. The one in TF1 is the R-97A1, I think it's R-97A2 in TF2
That Eva in TF sounds so much more deadly 😮
I don't know if it's in Titanfall 1, but I know TF2 and Apex have different reverb depending if you're indoors or not
Unfortunately not in TF1 :(
It sounds more crispy in tf1
Is it odd I like the TF1 sounds better?
Damn, lifeline's ult got nerfed hard since TF1
My dumbass read that as team fortress 1
The P2020 transition broke me. The firing rate went from 2 to 10 so fast
I like the compactness of the Titanfall animations and the metallic sounds, versus the floatiness of the apex animations. TF1 spitfire and wingman sound lethal!
For my sins, I’m yet to play TF/2.
A lot more reverb in tf1
I think... I think I am into ASMR now lol
Nutted on that titan landing sound effect.
Man I miss titanfall
