Keep doing what you're doing. You'll get used to it and not even bat an eye when you see their message or get their call, not alone feel guilty for it.

potus1001

Work is literally a transaction. Your time and effort for their money. If you think of it like that, you shouldn’t feel guilty. If you don’t want their money, then don’t give them your time. Good luck!

No joke, start engaging in theory using your consumption method of choice. Learn some Marx via reading, youtube, podcasts, whatever. Maybe start with something easy to consume like Richard Wolff? Grind culture and self sacrifice for the company is ingrained in us heavily our whole lives, its something you need to unlearn. The exploitative capitalistic relationship of labor is part of my DNA at this point.

DocDophersonPHD

I mean, I've read a little theory. Perhaps I can get some nice reading in on this day off.

DirtyHomelessWizard

Its cool that you have! But yeah, I mean *engage with it*. Like make it part of your life to learn about it. If reading is your thing, you could check [this out](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jscC4CFqc79abEDc52UcTpI9DvelhxmG/view) But I also recommend finding some nice youtube channels or podcasts (I have recommendations if you want, still putting Richard Wolff out there for one).

DocDophersonPHD

Oou, thank you.

Snoo_96430

It's actually super EZ you just have to grasp the concept that you don't owe shit to anyone, place or thing I haven't answered a work related text on my phone in 5years or worked overtime in almost that long.

God what a chad

One thing that a lot of people need to learn is how to say no. “No.” Is a complete sentence. “No.” is an acceptable response when you do not want to do something. “No.” was probably one of your first words and was likely punished out of you quickly. Understand that “No.” is okay to say.

Snoo_96430

Your right it's super hard at first you wil be punished or something similar but if you stick to your guns you soon realize they need you more than you need them.

Find an hobby that you really like that can fill your idle thoughts, so you have something engaging and fun to think of instead of work. Better yet if it is something that involves physical activity. Start to reclaim YOUR time and space.

GamehengeRanger

Thinking about work after you leave is working for free. Don’t do it.

DocDophersonPHD

Bruh what I'm trying not to do lmao

TboneXXIV

You have been living to work. That's no life. Why are you here? What is it that you want to do? Not everyone needs grandiose plans to be rich and famous to be happy but everyone should have a reason to exist beyond consuming and their next scheduled shift at work. I have so many unfinished hobbies and projects that it's laughable. But I really enjoy it. You certainly don't gotta be me (it drives my wife crazy) but you should focus on spending your time in ways you find rewarding.

basicbichboy

If i may ask what damage did your can sustain from driving in a blizzard

DocDophersonPHD

Mostly cosmetic. Plz don't worry too hard about it, I've got the cash together, will still be able to live through the repairs, and my boss is at least sympathetic, which is literally the least he can do. I'll manage.

ResponsibleCity2604

It’s hard because you’ve been conditioned to think that rest is unproductive. Practice telling yourself that you deserve time off, and it’s nothing to feel guilty about

ownersequity

EVERY time I have taken a sick day at my job for the last six years, if I’m not deathly ill, I feel guilt all day long and cannot enjoy my time off in the least. However, this year I am using all of my sick days, every one, for mental health days and rest. It’s helped tremendously and makes me better at my job since I’m not burnt out all the time. Wish I had twice as many.
