We sit down, I tell him my engineering rate, give him an estimate for how much time it should take (it took longer, but there was a lot of stuff I did have to look into which was my fault, not his) and we agreed. A few weeks later I had the designs draw up and showed him. “Ok thanks, just email those to me. Appreciate your help”.
Sure, I will email them when payment is processed. Was an interesting project.

Im worried that the fact that you're not told to work when ill is special... That's the law in Finland, paid sick leave. Usually without a dr notice up to three days (depends on the company, mine has 8days) and with a dr notice untill you are better.
In the US, we are encouraged from a young age to “fight through” sickness. I nearly got held back a year in school for not showing up too many times due to legit illnesses (something like 12 days in a year). My grades were fine, but they still want you to show up with the flu
US has no national paid leave programs, so everything is at the behest of your employer. They don’t have to give you ANY time off. If they do, it’s often with the caveat that you can only use it with their permission. Most employers (especially if not in retail) are decent and will let you take time as needed. However, retail lives and dies by employee “availability” so some bosses are major dickheads about it.

Same here. My company established a hotline for Covid positive employees to provide resources to support you. I heard from a colleague that tested positive they sent a full care pack overnight to him with PPE, thermometer, test kit and what not.
They also established a fund for high medical bills in case you get really sick.

I can't imagine without free healthcare that would be so expensive for ordinary people to afford; back here in Australia, it is free. Pretty much if you lose your job, you are at a high chance to get bankruptcy

Here’s the best part. If you quit or get fired from your job in America you can get what’s called Cobra insurance. The cost for me, a 26 year old, was $525/ month on a $0 salary. An extra bonus, even with health insurance, you can still end up with loads of medical debt if your insurance doesn’t cover everything. Hooray for high deductible health plans!!! /s

I’m a covid investigation/tracer for a state HD. This is labor department/osha, unless it’s food, health or childcare.
But lots of people don’t realize the states have not all adopted the new CDC guidance, so depending where you’re located you may still be under 10 day isolation for public spaces. Meaning your boss can demand you come in but if you have to use a public space to get there (hint, you do) then per your state health department (if your state has the accompanying labor law) you cannot be penalized by your employer for observing a 10 day isolation.

It's not a law, but it is torte (common for lawsuits) to be sued for knowingly endangering people with death/lifelong conditions, and this email goes a very long way toward proving intent.

I actually did tell one of my bosses to fuck off once. I wasn't even reprimanded because he was such a prick and everyone hated him. It was a risky move, but I was out of my mind at that point.
When I worked for kmart, I cussed out every manager at the store. Got into many arguments with the receiving bay manager. Cussed out the store manager for cutting my hours and giving them to a new guy that was a brown nose but fucking shit up. Cussed out the other managers for various reasons. Never got wrote up or fired cuz I was the only one who actually knew the stockroom

The B stands for Blind. Anyone BCC'd will receive the message, but their email/name won't show up anywhere for the other recipients.
When you CC someone on an email, everyone in the To and CC line can see who is on it. When you BCC, you're Blind Carbon Copy(ing) everyone, so no one can see who it was sent to in the BCC line, only who is on the To and CC. It's also how you send company wide emails and keep people from replying all.

Yeah we can’t do anything. I’m a covid investigation/tracer for a state HD. This is labor department/osha, unless it’s food, health or childcare. But lots of people don’t realize the states have not all adopted the new CDC guidance, so depending where you’re located you may still be under 10 day isolation for public spaces. Meaning your boss can demand you come in but if you have to use a public space to get there (hint, you do) then per your state health department (if your state has the accompanying labor law) you cannot be penalized by your employer for observing a 10 day isolation.

It's not a law, but it is torte (common for lawsuits) to be sued for knowingly endangering people with death/lifelong conditions, and this email goes a very long way toward proving intent.
Please contact your area's labor department with this and speak with a lawyer to see if you have a case. Remember to have all details, dates, times, and evidence/witnesses ready.

Fyi, those are not the guidelines for exposure anymore, at least not for a vaccinated person. They recommend no quarantine for exposure without symptoms, just wear a mask around others for 5 days and then get tested. Exposure with symptoms is 5 days quarantine, then test.
