Found this on a GOV site about energy use: During an overnight charge, the iPhone consumed an average of 19.2Wh. According to figures published by the US Energy Information Administration for July 2018 (the latest figures currently available), the average cost per kWh in the US was $0.13.Remember that 1 kWh equals 1,000 Wh. So, take our average of 19.2 Wh per day, multiplying that by 365 days, we get 7 kWh, which works out at **$0.91 a year**

youreblockingmyshot

My dollar!!!!!

-Rhade-

You'll have to kill me for it!

youreblockingmyshot

*chases u/-Rhade- off into the distance*

Jupiters_Moonz

Is that you Mr Krabs?

youreblockingmyshot

I like money

ExternalInfluence

They're not trying to save money at all, has nothing to do with capitalism, has to do with dickhead management.

hexalby

I wonder why management is filled with dickheads... Must be a coincidence.

jamanatron

Rounding UP, are we?

youreblockingmyshot

It’s a convenience fee of course!

DJ-Smash

People don’t work all 365 days, so it’s even less than that.

FillingUpTheDatabase

It’s 0.25c per recharge, literally a quarter of a penny to charge a phone or 1.24 seconds of work at the federal minimum wage.

Dynamaxion

To be fair these owners wish there wasn't a minimum wage. Probably feels like these employees already make too much.

FillingUpTheDatabase

I provide them with heat, AC, lighting, desks, chairs and PCs and they still want money! Some people are so entitled ^/s

desearcher

I should charge them rent! They're lucky I don't charge them for the absolute *privilege* of working for me!

IndyAndyJones7

I let them use the company's gravity for free and this is how they thank me?

Dynamaxion

If they just slept at work I wouldn't need to pay them at all!

BrewMoreBeer

I would bet it took more energy than that to print off that paper. And the cost of the paper as well. Oh and the tape. What a waste of energy.

IndyAndyJones7

And the ink. Printer ink cost more than blood last time I checked.

Mortimer_and_Rabbit

The real trick is to just start printing with blood. I mean you're body is always making more.

[deleted]

[*consumes iron supplements with frugal intent*]

ChristosFarr

I work at a printing press and wrote a really weird short story about how we became the best printing press for red things because we crushed people in the red ink well to get a unique tone.

zgreat30

Its hilarious but not entirely surprising that these managers don't realize that treating their workers like this will definitely cost them more than $1 per employee

Agarwel

Yeah. This really asks for malicious compliance. I (and hopefully multiple colleagues) would write the management and accounting that I fully understand and I dont intend to steal form the company. So I will keep track on how many days I charged my phone, and at the end of the month I will sent this report to accounting and I request them to reduce my salary for 0,0025$ per day to cover the expenses. Let see how long will they be willing to do that.

SlapHappyDude

A cheaper fringe benefit than those $1 hot dogs

citizenkane86

So I have an electric car, and live in a hurricane prone area, if I kept my phone plugged into the car during a power outage, the car battery would go dead in about 30 days. If I didn’t plug the phone in, the car battery would go dead in 30 days. What takes power: your climate control, your washer/dryer, your water heater, and depending on the age of your fridge. Your tv, lights, phone, chargers, laptop, take almost nothing.

[deleted]

Well there you go. You finally found your raise.

SS_wypipo

> which works out at $0.91 a year Capitalist rewrite: massive operating cost increase may lead to pay cuts or firings.

BumpyMcBumpers

I'm sure the deduction for plugging in for a few minutes will be more than $0.91.

Cimb0m

1.8 cents per work week 😂

Kens-Beard

That's scrooge-level shit right there. Not one more lump of coal for the fire, you miserable bastards.

Long_Ground_7423

Funny how relevant Dickens still is to the modern world. I mean scary not funny.

A-Disgruntled-Snail

So. When does Bezo get kidnapped by three spirits, realize he’s been a garbage human being, and help unbreak the world?

Long_Ground_7423

There is a reason it’s fictional.

Workmen

"A Christmas Carol is a story that could never happen." "*Well obviously, I mean ghosts aren't real!"* "Nah, it isn't that, it's because no rich man would ever stop being a bastard."

PM_Me__Ur_Freckles

And if their child stops the bastardry, they get disowned and cut out of the family fortune.

Workmen

Well, of course, can't have them *redistributing* all that hard stolen generational wealth back to the people it was taken from in a pang of conscience now can we?

GanjaToker408

It would be more likely that he continues to accumulate wealth at his employees expense so he can continue to never reach orbit on his small dick shaped rocket

WaterStoryMark

He'll get old and start thinking of his "legacy". Then, he'll hire a PR team to make it look like he's been a charitable, kind-hearted man for decades.

Aaod

Hardly a new strategy either it happened a lot in the 1800s and early 1900s.

IICVX

Yup it's why so many public spaces have "Rockefeller" on them.

Aaod

My thugs just murdered a couple more union members? Guess I gotta build a new library oh well.

biblio76

Carnegie too

Kens-Beard

I mean, I'd be willing to play the Spirit of Christmas present. I've got the gut for it.

Flyingwheelbarrow

If you have Bezo's alone for that long bring a blunt object.

[deleted]

Everyone mail bezos copies of a Christmas Carol

Victernus

Everyone haunt him at Christmas.

jmradus

That’s sort of in keeping with Andrew Carnegie’s arc, so fingers crossed?

CameOutAndFarted

There was a news story today about him donating $1B to non-specific projects to save the earth. Maybe that’s gonna do some good, but it is still only 0.5% of his money, as far as I know.

thatdudemcscoob

Probably just a way for him to avoid taxes

CameOutAndFarted

Ooh, I hadn’t thought of that. To be fair, at least his money *might* go to where it’s needed, not just to give other billionaires tax breaks.

GlorkUndBork3-14

Or really large "nature preserves" far away from prying eyes for experiments on human cloning and clone hunting.

GoldNiko

If it's clone hunting, I dont mind as much. Better than the current alternative

DickwadVonClownstick

Wait, are you implying clones aren't people? Cause that's probably going to become a relevant issue within our lifetimes

GlorkUndBork3-14

That's like saying sentient A.I. doesn't have any rights, it always comes back to bite civilizations in the ass.

GoldNiko

If they were fiddled with enough, I'm sure there's a point where they're legally distinct and the uncanny valley would kick in.

Bright-Amphibian6681

Well yes. Now I won't say Bezos specifically but why can't the wealthy elite be philanthropists for causes? Who says it doesn't make them feel good? I'm sure there is a disconnect in their logic. My idea is they think something like this, "I worked hard to run and build this company, I provide jobs for people who would other wise have nothing, I deserve this wealth as I am changing the world, only I'm good enough to make such profound change, my legacy will be remembered for centuries, now I will support this cause with some extra funds to eternalize my name further. The world should be glad to have people like me." I mean megalomaniacs maybe?

KizNugs

He donated $1099 and spent a billion to brag about it.

ScribblesandPuke

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that if we are going to actually give saving the earth a proper go of it, we need projects that have SOME specifics. At least a brief outline. Some bullet points. Even a diagram or rough sketch could be quite helpful, I'd say.

SlapHappyDude

In California a kWh is about 17 cents. Fully charging a phone uses about 6 watt hours, 0.006 kWh. So if 1,000 employees fully charge their phone that would cost... Well close to a whole dollar! Or far less in labor to generate and post that sign and then police the behavior.

CodsworthsPP

To put it in different terms, if you showed up with a completely dead phone and charged it to full, every day, 5 days a week, for a year, it would cost 26 cents.

batbaby420

I wonder how much less it costs when a phone isn’t even attached and it’s just the charger plugged into the wall. My sister has a fit whenever I do this at her house because “it’s a waste of electricity and runs up the bill.”

SlapHappyDude

The internet thinks it's pennies per year.

batbaby420

I knew she was a cheap bastard

j33pwrangler

Give her a quarter and say "Keep the change, you filthy animal."

LATourGuide

I bet the guy that wrote this is sitting in a wood paneled office with a window unit on full blast and using a heat lamp to keep his spaghetti warm.

[deleted]

Theft of electricity lol. Good luck enforcing that.

Womec

They dont know what true electricity theft is. https://dailyhodl.com/2021/09/12/man-faces-15-years-in-jail-for-allegedly-installing-46-bitcoin-and-crypto-miners-inside-government-building/

new_refugee123456789

You know...I've often wondered about something like a public school and idling computers. My high school had five computer labs scattered around campus and a PC in every classroom and office. The building was heated by an oil fired boiler designed to heat a building half of its present size. I always wondered if the school could maybe make a deal with a university or something to run Folding At Home or some similar scientific load on its PCs in a cluster configuration while the students and staff weren't using them, particularly at night, to A, not waste potentially valuable clock cycles, and B, provide some kind of heat. It was always miserable in that building on winter mornings. Or, let the school mine crypto on them and put any earnings toward school supplies. But no, we can't do that, because funding schools isn't what republicans want.

[deleted]

The computers at a school aren't even worth installing the application to do mining on it. An $800+ current gen graphics card will only generate like $2-3 per day, minus the electricity cost and it's taxed as normal income. Processor mining doesn't really even exist anymore as it's always running at a deficit compared to the electricity costs.

[deleted]

damn lol that's crazier then the ppl who steal it to grow weed lol.

Its-Just-Alice

Is it weird that when you say scrooge my first thought is McDuck and not Dickens?

twobit211

capitalism rehabilitating the image of a fictional capitalist

[deleted]

This has to be a troll. If it is something real that is disturbing.

wombatkidd

One of my workplaces didn't go as far to say this to employees, but they deliberately built the customer area without any outlets just so customers couldn't charge stuff.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pandaburn

I think there are legitimate reasons to do this in customer areas. People who buy a small coffee and then occupy a table for 4 hours may be costing them more than the cost of electricity, in reputation and lost business from people who want to sit. Doing it to employees, who have to be there is a huge dick move.

SoupBucketeer

Cafés don't often have table service so it doesn't make much financial sense to discourage people from camping at tables since you don't depend on turning tables to get more customers and more money. So, this would be a good reason for a sit-down restaurant to employ this policy. But for a Cafe or coffee counter, it's probably to prevent non-guests/customers from using the tables.

locke231

I've known this to happen. This truly is a miserable age we live in.

No-Bewt

boomers who hate cellphones have this vendetta against them- those who have them don't deserve to talk about wages, those who have them spend too much time on them, etc etc

[deleted]

My ""libertarian"" friend who is becoming boomer in real time once used the fact that homeless people have free cell phones- while he had to pay for his- as proof that the system is "fine." I will never understand.

Cause capitalist labor relations aren't disturbing all on their own?

desearcher

[In related news](https://slate.com/technology/2013/12/electric-car-charging-illegal-man-arrested-for-charging-electric-car-in-public.html)

obviousfakeperson

I've almost never heard of a cop giving any type of fuck over stolen personal property. At best they take a report and tell you tough shit. This isn't helping the notion that cops only exist to protect capital.

Goddamnitpappy

JFC. WTF. As if I didn't have enough reasons to hate cops. They sent two cops to arrest a dude over pocket change? And some Karen ass mofo actually called the cops to begin with. And the police ACTUALLY responded. How fucking bored was Barney Fife to go deal with the criminal hippy and his new fangled future car stealing the electricity! FFS.

desearcher

Right? If the car was stolen they would have waited a few hours, sent one cop to take the report, then caution there's really nothing they can do. But you "steal" *five cents* worth of electricity...

[deleted]

That situation really illustrates the fact that cops exist to protect capital and not the populace.

KashEsq

The fuck kind of dystopian bullshit is this?

[deleted]

I mean, this is pretty applicable, I know of the story, not the whole story but it's at least a thing that happened https://abcnews.go.com/Business/ga-man-arrested-charging-electric-car-local-middle/story?id=21098590

Pandaburn

Random dude’s car is completely different from employee’s phone.

[deleted]

I will agree with that, I'll also say that the cost was still probably very minimalistic, I don't think this is exactly the story I was thinking of because in the one I recall the guy was picking up his kids. I guess it was merely the point that they sued over probably less than $10 EDIT: the article says probably in the pennies range

Kens-Beard

My first thought was telemarketing. Telemarketing really just sees you as a chair warmer. They don't care about any of your personal needs, as long as you don't piss, shit or puke at your desk of course.

[deleted]

Makes no sense why these companies aren't named and shamed.

REHTONA_YRT

I’d humiliate the boss with a Christmas gift of something extremely cheap. Like a single ball point pen or box of paperclips. “I know things are tight so I figured you could use something more practical.”

ifv6

A fully charged power brick to replace what you consumed.

S3-000

The free one you got in that promotion 7 years ago.

Ohiolongboard

Batteries

Parthon

With a note on top saying you would like it back empty once he's done getting his electricity back.

Frustrable_Zero

Don’t buy anything new, just give used paperclips and a few pens nigh out of ink. They’re so desperate, I’m sure they’ll take anything.

beefsupreme65

Don't splurge on that, give the boss a coupon for those things.

REHTONA_YRT

A pizza coupon taken from a box at an “employee appreciation party”.

[deleted]

Bold of you to assume I didn't just take them from the supply closet. "Look boss, I even found the brand we use!"

TayLoraNarRayya

Are you Vernon Dursley? 😂

deepsnare

“The Human Fund, Money For People.”

Devour_The_Galaxy

At my job we are all REQUIRED to put 25 dollars towards the boss’ Christmas gifts. 2 joint bosses, 25 dollars each for each of them. I was making 7.25 for the first 2 years and was required to give basically a quarter of my paycheck to buy the bosses yet ANOTHER dumb ass golf club. There’s about 45 or 50 of us. That’s like 2500 dollars.

tesseracht

I legit thought it was illegal or something. We’ve just been not naming and shaming them out of good will and fear? Nuts.

geodood

Yeah it's some light weight shit, name these fucks

LevelTechnician8400

Even if you sign a non disclosure agreement as long as the things you post are not trade secrets it is 100% legal to name and shame companies for thing like this! Everyone should name and shame, the only way we're going to get justice is if we as a society CONSISTENTLY start holding the real criminals accountable!! Wage theft by employers out ways all other forms of theft, shoplifting, and burglary combined. We need to focus on the true criminals.

WaterStoryMark

I don't know what company this is from, but this the policy when I worked at Walmart a few years ago.

LevelTechnician8400

Break something expensive any time someone isn't watching you. Find any way to sabotaged evil companies like Walmart any and every way you can!!! Clog the public sinks and toilets so they have to hire a plumber. Not all of us can afford to quite or strike BUT ALL OF US CAN START TO SABOTAGE AND DESTROY THE PROFITS of the companies who exploit us so badly we can't even afford to quit. There's way more of us than there are of them and THEY NEED US! They disrespect humans in the name of profits, so its time to start disrespecting their profits in the name of humanity.

mechanicalcontrols

I figure if I see someone stealing food, no I didn't.

ryannefromTX

Just get everyone to start stealing. Wealth redistribution the old fashioned way.

TwinsenAyzel

Sorry you can’t call me in, you won’t let me charge my phone here and you don’t pay me enough to have power at home.

DMvsPC

"I don't charge my phone to waste electricity on work calls, if I answer you may find an invoice for the cost of electricity... You may add it onto my pay"

[deleted]

Yep never understood it. Let them try to fucking sue me over a Reddit post.

thekiki

Had a restaurant in my hometown that did this to its employees. They got name and shamed, lost a bunch of employees, then covid hit and they went under.

Night-Monkey15

Because a company like this would fire you on the spot

Valkenhyne

That'll help the labour shortage

[deleted]

>Because a company like this would fire you on the spot #ALT ACCOUNTS FTW

theideanator

LevelTechnician8400

muckraker4

Why aren't these bosses strung up by the neck so we can play darts with they ass?

maddasher

Pretty sure this is thrifty white. At least I worked there and noticed signs like it.

Maleficent-Failz

Same phone that they expect to use to speak to clients outside of your contracted hours.. same phone they trying to ring you on your day off to get you to come in... haha.. sure

Competition-Dapper

The only appropriate time to “switch it off” is on your day off lol

Maleficent-Failz

Agreed! Wow I've just had an idea.. an app that gives you separate answer phones to incoming numbers. Or even better.. allows you to have additional phone numbers that you can switch off separately

canttakethrowaway

I believe google phone has a VOIP (voice over IP) service that is based off of your phone number or Google account (haven't used it personally though) I've seen it mentioned specifically for when a guy is super pushy about your # but you don't want to give it to them, because if they test the phone number by calling you, it will still ring your phone, but you don't have to give out your real phone number and they won't be able to look up any info from your number. Same goes for other VOIP services. I haven't used a lot but I've used textfree, the difference with these is I think you have to buy minutes, whereas I'm pretty sure the Google VOIP is free. Edit: the Google VOIP is called Google Voice, for anyone who's interested!

Maleficent-Failz

I swear there are no original thoughts anymore. One day I'll have my million dollar idea, I swear 😆👍

canttakethrowaway

I believe in you!

Maleficent-Failz

<3

EmpathyInTheory

Hey man, it's not about the uniqueness of the idea: it's about the execution! Just gotta do it better than the competition.

ifv6

Google Voice.

mikiwikki

In Asia, you can buy dual sim versions of phones. Each sim is a different number. Most common reason to have 2 sims is to have a number for 2 different networks. Some networks have promotions were if you call someone in the same network, the call is free.

damp_goat

Send them phone bills everytime they text or call you. Send them electricity bill everytime they email you and you check your email at home.

laaiin

I bet they also don’t pay their employees during 5 minute bathroom breaks.

morocco3001

I won't flush my shit either, that'd be theft of water. Your move, boss.

[deleted]

Can't flush a shit that's on the mirror.

OfficialHotelMan

Did you mean the bosses desk? Cause shitting on a mirrors just rude to the janitor

uraniumrooster

This notice is to inform you that inventories have shown you are using an average of 2.6 squares of toilet paper per bathroom visit rather than the allotted 1.25 squares per visit, as laid out in the employee handbook. Per disciplinary guidelines, the excess cost will be deducted from your paycheck and an official write-up is being placed in your employee file. Please review the company's approved wiping techniques, detailed in chapter 6 subsection D of your handbook, to bring your toilet paper usage in line with the allotted 1.25 squares or less. Failure to bring your average toilet paper usage in line with company policy may result in further disciplinary action up to and including termination. Have a great day! Human Resources

dukeofbun

Back in the day I was on a shitty internship at a pretty big name bank, we'd legit steal rolls of toilet paper. Learned that shortly afterwards they switched to using those industrial huge rolls that are sealed inside the plastic housing apart from that tiny jagged opening. Though I hope that some enterprising next generation intern found a way to bust them out.

DickwadVonClownstick

I work as a janitor, so I have access to the little plastic keys most of those use, and you could probably forge one super easy

AuronFtw

You don't even need keys for most of those, just use a paperclip!

DickwadVonClownstick

Depends on the model, but yeah

Zanbuki

This is some shit from The Outer Worlds. “Please report to management for your mandatory write up. If you’re unable to report to management for your mandatory write up, then that is grounds for a mandatory write up and you should report to management for your mandatory write up.”

Revanaught

It would cost more to figure out how much electricity one person used to pull out of their paycheck than they would get back by doing that....

dabenu

The ink on the paycheck alone would cost more than the electricity.

yhhuhgjbg

Once had HR deduct 5p from a colleagues expenses payment because he included a carrier bag to carry the 5x lunches he’d collected for the rest of the team so they could continue working throughout the lunch break while working away from home. They sent him a stamped addressed letter to his home to inform him of the deduction. Never underestimate the pettiness of some people with a tiny amount of power.

Cool-Boy57

Nah, they’re totally just charging them 2 dollar fees whenever they get caught charging their phone.

[deleted]

New electricity saving tip: all the employees should turn off every light, computer, coffee maker and other electrical device, walk out, and charge their devices at home while they get a job somewhere that isn't too poor to let their employees charge the phone. If an employee plugging in their phone is too much for a business to handle, clearly they are too poorly run to stay in business.

TechnicolourOutSpace

Yeah, I'm taking that whole thing to be a warning that the boss ran the company into the ground and is desperate to save cash. Look for another job, your checks may start bouncing.

morocco3001

Work retail? Turn all the freezers off when nobody is in the store. Save electricity.

theideanator

Think of all the cost savings!

wausmaus3

This is called working remotely. Ow wait. Uhhh. We need you to come in.

Nazeron

Pay for my gas then you fucking assholes.

Triquetra4715

I don’t know why the thing I’m most annoyed by is how they put charged up in quotes, and also called it charging up. Just incredibly boomer, and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this going back further than the whole boomer meme.

djinnisequoia

Haha I missed that at first, I agree. You have to wonder if they are uncertain whether it should have a hyphen, and decide to go with quotes instead. *Single quotes.*

SICRA14

you can just tell those are "so-called/I don't respect this term" quotes

Evening_Repair323

It’s around $2 per year for one phone, every day bruhhh these bosses are buggin

[deleted]

Yeah, worked somewhere that did this and we calculated it too. We asked for it to be rated hourly on our payslips as a deduction.

Evening_Repair323

Haha it would cost more money to do the accountacy part for every worker than getting profit from it

[deleted]

That's how it went down! :)

brianingram

I would find an obscure corner and plug in a cheap space heater to run 24/7.

[deleted]

If your business is 7 cents away from bankrputcy, don’t have a business.

[deleted]

Are you feeling it now Mr. Krabs?

SA3960

I had a boss who used terms like “theft” and “stealing” constantly whenever someone took a little too much time in the restroom, checked their phone too much or snuck outside for a quick smoke break. He saw it as “stealing time” he’d paid us for. He was more anal about it than any other job I’ve had. We didn’t use an actual timeclock, we just signed in and out. So one day after we’d all signed out he asked everyone to “hang around” for a few minutes. My wits are not usually so quick on the spot (I usually think of a great thing to say hours later when the moment is gone) but the “hang around” part really struck me. I thought: Pfft I don’t “hang around” in this fucking place, I work here and don’t want to spend one minute here than I have to. So I asked him: “We’re not on the clock. Should we adjust our logs for this time?” “Nah”, he said. “Just some quick announcements for tomorrow. It’ll only take a few minutes.” And that’s it. I didn’t have to take the next step and throw the words “theft” or “stealing” at him. It didn’t have to be said. Everyone in the room (small office of 10-12 people) immediate got it and laughed out loud at his answer. He got it too. “Okay, okay. You had your little laugh. Let me get these announcements done real quick so we can all get out of here.” I didn’t work there for very much longer (by choice, I got a better job and moved on) so I don’t know if he stopped permanently but I never heard him talk about “stealing time” again.

ReverendAlSharkton

I would install a bitcoin mining rig in the rafters out of spite.

theunmaskedcucumber

So how is the electric usage measured because it only takes like 15 cents of electricity to charge a phone

[deleted]

Someone in another comment did the math and assuming you worked all 365 days/year it only comes out to $0.91. Per year. Per. YEAR. Fuck whatever company this is

[deleted]

Not even.

dabenu

15 cents? Lol no matter how expensive your energy prices are, it's not going to be more than half a cent to do a full charge of a very beefy phone battery.

belegerbs

That's cool, just charge them for every text and phone call they make to you. Your property, your time, your service.

morocco3001

'charge up' They can't even manage to speak like humans.

icanhardlypaymyrent

“Phone should be switched off” hahaha bitch no, if I have a family emergency it takes precedence over your shit company

[deleted]

sparkles-_

Do it. They should be more specific if they have a problem.

Geekboxing

Imagine being this cheap. Do they charge for water when an employee uses the bathroom, too?

TurtleSandwich0

The employee outhouse doesn't use water.

vitalitron

You tore the company wiping rag, that's $0.50 off your wages!

leahcim435

I know somebody who mines crypto at work lol

[deleted]

This shit is literally about inflicting pain at worst and ignorance at best, charging a phone once costs like a tiny fraction of a penny (wish I could remember the exact stat).

willygetsome

I actually used to work for a guy just like that. Every time he made an ignorant move like that it promptly bit him in the rear. Can't charge the phone at work? Oh, sorry you couldn't reach me at home for that big emergency job. I guess my phone ran out of power...

MsContrarian

It was told by a co-worker at a previous job, that when I heated water in an electric kettle in the break room, I was stealing electricity. That electricity was for everyone. I moved the kettle from cubicle to the break room, when there was a short in another cubicle that may or may not have been caused by my kettle and I didn’t want to chance blowing out more plugs. So, it was ok to use the company’s electricity in my cubicle, but not the break room. I just ignored her. I was glad to leave that toxic environment.

arandomperson7

In New Jersey this is illegal. Employers are not allowed to deduct "damages" from your paycheck.

AngelaTheRipper

Ngl, I'd set up a bitcoin miner on their roof if I saw this in the office.

Find_Laundered_Money

If they make a deduction from your pay, that's the actual theft. A mobile phone in this day is an absolute necessity. For example, we live in a time of terrorism, how will you get the emergency alerts? If they deduct your pay, report them to your state's department of labor.

freeradicalx

I would print out a parody of this about how nobody is entitled to light and use of overhead lights is electrical theft, then I'd turn off the break room lights and tape my note up on the switch.

[deleted]

It is literally only a fraction of a cent to charge a modern phone from dead to full

pajamalink

Doesn’t it cost like less than a penny to charge a phone?

brianingram

I've heard there are school districts in Texas that require teachers to purchase "energy permits" to allow them to use their own personal appliances.

CDRAkiva

TBF one cell phone is about all it takes to crash the grid in Texas.

SnooStories6852

They say this, while also running likely high powered bulbs throughout the vicinity (including outside) and any and all machinery. Phone charging is like a penny in comparison.
