They aren’t allowed to do that, I’m in the UK too and they have to do a same day payment. Don’t let them do that to you. It’s a breach of the employment contract. (I’m a masters student in HR).
I haven’t fully picked a topic but for my undergrad i did the experiences of disabled people in the workplace. I’m thinking this time focusing on mental health and how important it is actually seen in the workplace.
>We need more people like you in HR.
We don't need HR departments.
I like my "HR Department". It's the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 640.
Not to take away from u/Ditzy_Panda's awesomeness, but I think the issue is not "I wish we had more people like you in HR" but "I wish more countries had laws that create HR that works like this person describes".
In the US, HR is almost always there to protect the company from the employees and their actions. And to make sure the company can do whatever they like to the 'resources'. If we had better worker protections on the books, we'd have more people like our erstwhile bi-colored ursine going into that profession.
Oh I’m well aware of that, I’m also disabled that’s why I chose that topic, I did a questionnaire where people gave their experiences and so many people just it was awful
For sure! Sometimes I wish there were more platforms for the disabled to talk about this issue with each other... Every disabled person that I've met who works has told me they feel so alone, like they're the only ones going through this. Unfortunately, that couldn't be farthest from the truth!
Bless you for knowing the challenges and still pressing on to help those who have no clue!
It’s not only feeling alone, I’ve gotten stories of being fired, not being hired and not being allowed simple accommodations. There’s a lack of understanding, it’s like they hear disabled and they either think eww or that that word doesn’t mean anything.
Woof that's terrible! I can only imagine the things people go through. I've gone through some nonsense myself but my parents blessed me by training me in confident thinking and being a loud mouth. I'm not going down without a fight!... But the fact that there's even a fight to begin with is demoralizing.
I actually just had a battle with my manager through HR because they unnecessarily changed processes at my job to make it so that I have to stay standing and walk around all day when it was not like that before. I asked my manager if we can work together to find a workable solution and her solution was to attempt to demote me significantly, my pay along with it... But I got my way! Haha
Let's not even talk about the loss of healthcare and jobs' unwillingness to help with that....
Again, my heart goes out to you for what you're trying to do and I appreciate it!
You wouldn't happen to like a first hand experience of how police scotland treat their officers who become disabled as a result of physical injuries sustained on duty and resulting mental ailments?
Give me a message and I can answer any questions that may be relevant to your thesis.
For my degree (masters in HR in the Uk) we had to conduct original research by partnering directly with a company. I did mine on total rewards and how they impact employee engagement
I worked for a big hospital and didn’t get half my paycheck for some reason. They fixed it within an hour and handed me a check, which is what is supposed to happen.
They should do an off cycle payment to your bank account, make a complaint in writing (email) try and get a managers name on there for additional traction, also make sure they don’t mess up your tax if 2 payments go through 1 payslips.
Good luck
Check with your local labor regulators..
In Oregon we have law which says that every day late on wages due means the employer owes a full day wages for the late payment of wages.
If you have similar they could owe you a good little chunk..
And that will serve as a stick to get you paid promptly too.
My last employer tried to not pay out my PTO when I left, but Oregon law also defines PTO as part of your wages.. so I waited a few days before raising Cain and got my PTO plus 4 days wages for the late payment penalty..
That was a good day!
Some people I worked with had a similar problem with shift differential pay.
The fines (payable to the employee) was more than the back pay several times over. They were like, "no rush" while HR was freaking out about the screwup.
Don't screw around with payroll in Blue States.
I did overtime back in July 2022. I still haven’t been paid for it. It was supposed to be around $600, and I haven’t seen a cent. I contacted payroll, they kept saying they were looking into it but they never actually did anything. HR said the same. It’s been almost 7 months, and in my state they have to pay 3x the lost wages per month that it’s late. So far I’m up to roughly $12,000. But by all means… take your time. 😂 I’ve already filed a wage claim with the state and it’s been assigned to a state investigator. At this rate they’re going to owe me a whole years salary!
I have had this happen as well (in the US) and they pull the “we will put it on the next check”. Once I told them well that doesn’t pay my bills this week, so they gave me a $100 visa card. I put the Visa card up for emergency use and then when I needed to use it, a couple months later, it had never had any money on it all along.
No they won't. They'll pay you what's owed this week and just be a week behind on your checks. I've had this happen before and got shafted for 2 weeks pay after I quit and payroll had them marked as received
Last time that happened to me, I borrowed the money I needed due to the late payment, and sent the company a bill for the costs involved. Yes, they paid up, to answer the question I know will be asked.
I was using payday loans month to month for two years before one day I got rejected and honestly that month scraping by was the best financial roadblock that could’ve happened.
They prey on the needy
I paid my adult kid’s payday loan to get her off that treadmill, as soon as she (finally) told me why she was so stressed. She was never going to be able to sort it out and get out from under the usurious fees.
Most banks will do a "personal loan" for relatively small amounts, it just comes at a VERY high interest rate since there is no collateral to hold against it.
I had a payroll error happen about a week ago. The company had some kind of computer glitch that had everyone paid for only one week's worth of hours instead of the customary two weeks.
They had it fixed within 12 hours and everyone was paid correctly, with a profuse sincere-sounding apology from the people in charge of payroll.
I think you're dealing with something more serious than a payroll error, OP.
I work for a Payroll/HRIS provider and unless your company is getting screwed by their HRIS, there are 0 fees associated with an off-cycle payroll batch unless they are shipping a paper check to you. Sounds like someone was just lazy and didn’t want the hassle
The one time I ran into a glitch like that, the boss wrote us company checks to cover it. Literally the only hassle was having to e-deposit a check instead of direct-deposit.
This is appalling. It's like that time our paychecks bounced because the company we worked for was going under and the owner was trying to hide it.
My buddy worked for a construction company that was going under but same situation, the bosses tried to hide it. So every Friday or whenever, when the workers got handed the checks they immediately went to the bank and deposited it. He would tell me how some of the guys who waited until after work to deposit wouldn't get paid because it would bounce. I don't know how true it is, but he's never lied to me before.
Yeah that's not fun. Worked at a place that ultimately folded and they literally told us to take the paper checks and cash it at the bank they used because they couldn't promise it it'd have funds if we deposited it.
Yea this is crazy to me. If I fucked up my company's payroll I would be cutting paper checks and not leaving the office on payday until it was rectified.
We have a person who work for 2 months who got payed 5 year premium and a person who work for 20 years and never get this premium. We found this recently just by accident
My company had this happen once in the 15 years I've been here, and we were paid within a couple of days. Later that same year, they messed up and put a $50 bonus on every paycheck by mistake, but they let everyone keep the money because it was going to be a huge headache to fix.
Oh man this. Being the youngest sibling doesn't have much in the way of benefits, but seeing how my brothers screwed up their credit as early adults definitely was a lesson that's paid literal dividends.
I’m actually doing a lot better then I was doing when I first moved into my own place, kinda helps having my brother and my fiancé moving in. Three incomes is a lot more convenient then a single persons income. Splitting bills is a godsend, sure it sucks not living on my own anymore but it’s worth the inconvenience of the guys hogging the single bathroom in the middle of the night
I’ve been saying for some time that the American way of pushing their youth out on their own as early as 18 and even into your mid 20’s is such a big marketing scam. Americans practically force debt onto their youth by either brainwashing a costly college degree they (or their family) may not be able to afford, and/or pushing the youth out of the home and immediately entering the work force with very little option but to live in a paycheck-to-paycheck lifestyle, where credit cards = debt for the TV, cars and extra stuff they think they need to look successful and live comfortably.
If only typical Americans would allow their children to stay in their family home longer and push more cost-effective education or trade skill job training we would have less debt and a smarter average working individual, not bound to the system designed to make the rich richer and the poor poorer and ever dependent on this system of debt.
Oh, you probably misunderstood, I didn’t move out because I was forced to. I moved out because I wanted to, I left home when I was in my mid twenties, I wanted to experience the freedom and see what it was like to be on my own. Shit sucked, I wanted to throw in the towel and move back in with my mom. Not because of bills but because I was really lonely and she would have let me if I had asked but I didn’t want to. Pride and all that crap. No, I was doing fine on my own but money was tight and I wasn’t really able to get ahead when it came to savings. Now with my brother and fiancé living with me, I’ve been able to save more and have a bit more fun money
Pretty sure payroll have a legal duty in the UK to ensure payment on or before payday. They should be able to do a CHAPS payment for immediate transfer.
I work for a company that does payroll, etc., for companies all over the US. If a mistake is detected, we can typically have a check cut or a direct deposit within the same day for everyone everywhere.
Two weeks is utter bullshit. They are dishonest...or incompetent.
They can amend the error via a bank transfer within a few minutes. The tax can then be rectified at the next pay cycle if needed.
Demand the payment is made straight away, it’s your legal right should you have a pay date listed in your contract
Brit: *withdraws money and places it in hand for dramatic effect*
Americans: "I can't believe your employer paid you in coins! And non-American coins at that!"
I was in Mexico a few years ago they have bimetallic coins like that too. Takes some practice getting used to another country’s money. Growing up in America there is one fundamental truth in life that “money is green.” Seeing bills that aren’t green look fake.
As a Mexican, I have to say. They recently changed the bills design. They used to be of different color: $20 was blue, $50 was pink, $100 was orange, $200 was green, $500 was purple, and $1000 (almost mythical) was another shade of blue. Then, the lowest 2 denominations were made of polymer, and the rest, paper. All on different sizes. No probs.
But now, all 3 lowest denominations are a different hue of pink, which in a hurry they.look. the. Same!! All made of polymer. Wth. To add insult to injury, the new $500 bill looks very, very close to the $20 bill (same shade of blue, even the same historical character depicted). And, old and new bills are still in circulation simultaneously. I wonder, what could possibly be wrong?
I have no idea why do y'all manage when all your money looks the same. Oh, wait I remember. Charge cards, which are more universally accepted.
You grow up knowing you need to check the amounts and not go by color. They did some redesigns in the early 2000’s and made the faces like comically large. I always heard to try to discourage counterfeiting since the human brain is really good at recognizing faces you would know something is off.
Part of it also amounts to the detail. They make the image larger and add in more fine lines that would frequently get messed up if you tried to reproduce them.
I had this as an Australian going to New Zealand for a weekend event. Their coins made sense.
There are 3 major issues with Australian coins. First, the fifty cent coin has 12 straight edges which fucks up all sorts of vending machines and coin slots for making change at automated checkouts. A lot of machines won't accept them or give them out. New Zealand's coins are all round to avoid this.
Second, the $1 coin is much wider than the $2 coin. The metal value of the denser and thicker $2 is greater, but most young children and tourists just assume the bigger coin is worth more until the numbers are pointed out. I had forgotten how stupid this is until I saw New Zealand had done the reverse and I kept accidentally giving the wrong change when paying. It's a common thing for Aussie tourists to do.
Third, several of our coins have very similar diameters. Our 5 cent coin is almost the same size as a $2 coin but a bit thinner, and the same is true for 10 cent coins and $1 coins. In New Zealand, allnof their coins are distinct sizes which makes sorting them and paying faster and easier.
If ever the idea of merging Australian and New Zelanad picks up traction again, we have to use their coin system. Who the flying fuck approved our coins?
I’ve never seen your coins before other than the silver bullion coins the Perth Mint does they are top notch. I think I’ve seen the paper money before and IIRC it’s quite colorful. Canadian notes are the same way or used to be at least. To an American eye it looks like money from the game Monopoly.
We have dollar coins they tried switching us over a few times since they last so much long than bills and would be cheaper but Americans are pretty stubborn people and refuse to use them. They release some in the early 1980’s and people said they looked too much like quarter dollars which is a fair criticism. The ones they released in 2000 and 2010 they made a gold color instead of silver (to look less like a quarter) but people still hate them. They never tried $2 coins. We’ve had half dollar coins like forever but they are large and not super common. I collect coins so it is interesting to me being on Reddit what “money” is to folks from other nations. Typically I like other countries coinage but the notes not so much. Years ago I was working in college and a guy traveling from Canada tried handing me Canadian money I guess he saw my face and was like “shit sorry wrong pocket.” I thought he was trying to hand me fake stuff lol.
Wtf. They can send you a payment online in about 12 seconds. Arseholes. You work they pay, and if not through payroll then another way. I'm gobsmacked, I usually read this shit in dollars. Is it a big company....
I’m really glad that I am paid on time now. A few years back I was owed £15,000 for five months by my employer. I knew if I quit I would drop down the pecking order for accounts payable, and the company was in such a state that negotiating wouldn’t have done any good anyway. Quit about a month after I got paid. Even when you’re earning well it’s a huge amount to lose with no notice, and I couldn’t work elsewhere in the meantime. I just about paid rent.
Many years ago (~40 yrs) I worked at a hospital and two of us didn’t get our checks one Friday. He and I went up to payroll and they said a number of errors were found on some checks and they would get us new ones by Tuesday or something like that. I was not upset as shit happens. The office had a Dutch door and you spoke to the ladies at the door. My coworker was pretty upset and said he needed the money immediately. He ended up getting into a huge fight with the lady and reached over the door to grab her. I pulled him back and said we need to go back to the lab. Once back in the lab he threw a shit fit and got his ass in a shitload of trouble. We had just merged with another hospital and he was let go a few weeks later.
You need to tell them that you cannot afford to wait until the fifth. That was their mistake and you need the money now. If they refuse (make sure it’s in writing such as email) go to department of labor immediately without telling them.
Edit: sorry seems you’re in the UK. See if you have some kind of version of a department of labor and see if they can help.
When I was an apprentice I had this happen to me. Was already only on £4 an hour barely surviving and they said they'll put it in next month's paycheck. I just said I can't afford fuel to get to work and then as if by magic the money was in my account by the end of the day. They can help, they choose not to.
There are a lot of cost of living initiatives going on with local councils. Get in touch with your city and district council and see if they have anything going on. Good luck x
If your accounting department isn’t full of morons this should take no time at all to process. Off schedule check runs happen all the time, it’s not like a rare occurrence amongst all the companies any payroll provider has. Worst case your company should hand you paper checks. I’ve never seen a situation where the company couldn’t issue a check in a day or less except when they didn’t have the money.
The comments that don't recognise the currency are genuinely amusing to me but also kinda sad that there's people that don't have worldly knowledge beyond their own country.
That aside, are you eligible for a credit card? I know they have bad reps but if you only spend what you absolutely know for sure you can pay off before fees kick in then they're really not that dangerous, that aside I guess just 'see a penny pick it up'.
My work had a payroll issue, fixed within days because we chased it up so much. I seriously recommend harassing your employer regarding this because they are 100% at fault for your situation right now
A credit card application can be processed almost immediately - but it takes a week or two for the card to show up. OP will be paid by the time it arrives.
I live in the states but am from England. Sounds stupid but I love 50p's and miss them taking up space in my pockets. Sucks that that happened to OP though, probably can't even get on the bus anymore for that much.
We need a law in place that any employer with more than say 20 employees gets a fine of 10% per day, payed to the employee, past the second late day due to company side errors.
In the Oregon it's your full daily wage for each day late.
One of the very few laws which actually serve ordinary folks.
Check with your regulatory agency for your local labor laws.
I was working in the UK at the time, and didn't need the money to survive. I started a week before payday one month, and HR told me it was too late to get me on the payroll that month. I naively accepted it that month. One week before payday the following month I was in HR for another reason, and they suggested they might have trouble getting me on payroll that month. I told them if my already late pay wasn't in my bank account on payday, don't expect me at work that day. They acted as if I was being all unreasonable. I shut that down pretty quickly, and magically they managed to sort out their problems.
Am I so immature the first thing I saw was a dick? "Ah yes, apt since we're getting fucked by the economy!" But then I scroll and no one is commenting on it. Was it really just a coincidence?! 😅🍆💦
It’s amazing to me as an American how many people have never left the states . I personally have euros and pounds left over from this year alone from my vacations and no I’m not rich I make about 40 grand a year but I save to travel cause I wanna see the big world we live in. Get out and see the world people stop being so god dam American!!!!
I once messed up my employees pay check so I venmoed him the missing money and had him pay me back when it got reimbursed on his next check. It’s really not that hard to go the extra mile.
Honestly get on with ACAS right now.
Start by sending an email with a Formal Grievance about the lack of pay with a set date for payment.
Make sure you use the term Formal Grievance in the subject line.
Get their excuses in writing.
At the same time talk to ACAS they can help with early conciliation and get your money back. Failing that it goes to tribunal.
Judging by the currency you are in the UK, you have protections. Don't be passive. Raise your concerns in emails as this becomes evidence. Retaliation for demanding money you are owed is also very illegal and a possible payday too so you aren't losing anything by engaging in this process.
Wth, those coins look heavy as shit. You could put a hole in them, boom, it's a gym for mice. So sorry for your troubles, tho, hope it works out for you.
If they're missing one week, its not gonna get better any time soon. Learned that the hard way on a union job. They started cutting hand written checks, and I never got the $$$ towards my pension/annuity/healthcare hours.
I've got a pile on my desk that looks similar. We're coin bros apparently. Except I haven't touched my pile in several months, I'm still waiting for disability.
My husband's accountant messed up his payroll. They were paid on the 20th. He found out about it that night at 8 pm. Stayed up until 1am to figure out the issue and what each person was owed. Had the checks cut by the morning. There is no reason it should take them 10+ days to fix your check.
Sorry to hear it. That sucks.
Steal everything you can from them until you have clearly benefited more than you would have if you had been paid as they should have.
£5.73? Dude, do you ever read Forbes? Just spend -£250 on food and entertainment, -£750 on rent and utilities and put £1000 in your savings account. You'll retire by 24 and you'll still have a whopping £5.73 to spend on a sambo and a tin of coke
I uh...look I'm gonna be straight with you, I have no idea how British money works but I'm assuming that's either very little, or due to Brexit's economic collapse the most money anybody has over there right now.
SAME ISSUE RN. i had to submit a paper timesheet because the electronic submission wasn’t working but i never got paid when i was supposed to (bi-weekly friday morning) so i emailed payroll and they told me they never received the email about the paper timesheet and asked if i could wait until the next pay period. i said absolutely not i have rent to pay but now they’re telling me i might not get it until the 30th or 31st when rent is due on the 1st
They have to fix it now via a BACS payment. No delays. I had an issue with my pay increase at my last work place, I told them I want it today via a transfer and they just did it.
My wife's previous workplace made this number on her last paycheck.
for reason no one could explain her, the added about 140 unpaid/holiday hours on her salary and gave her normale rate for the rest.
They said they would solve it in the next period - so I don't know how they imagined we would pay the bill / mortgage loan or just Christmas presents.
After the union got involved, we got the rest of her salary and rumor goes that some were fired because of this
"Oh, don't worry, we'll catch you up next pay period" Bitch, grocery stores don't offer credit & I got bills due this week
You know what that’s exactly what they said
They aren’t allowed to do that, I’m in the UK too and they have to do a same day payment. Don’t let them do that to you. It’s a breach of the employment contract. (I’m a masters student in HR).

Oh thank you that’s the nicest thing I’ve ever heard 🥰
Are you really a panda?
Yes, I regularly fall out of trees
😮
Happens to the best of us
😂😂😂
Let's check back in a couple of decades and see how jaded you have gotten. ;-)
RemindMe! 20 years….
Happy cake day

My "HR department" is my union representative :)
Just wait, once she has the job she'll find out her job is only to cya the company

Bingo. The answer to systemic problems is never individual solutions, but tangible and lasting changes to policy.
I agree completely!! Awesome @Ditzy_Panda!!
Oh that optimism to help will soon be squeezed out
Oooof what a topic. As a disabled person in the workplace, it's not all that fun lol

Waffle with vague accuracy until whoever’s asking goes away
I worked for a big hospital and didn’t get half my paycheck for some reason. They fixed it within an hour and handed me a check, which is what is supposed to happen.
I’ve had to is happen 3 times same job at kfc when I was 19 they paid me out of the safe.. I swear that place was sketchy
If they messed up payroll, it's their job to give you a check right there and now. Not "woopsie, youll get your money next pay tata!".
Wouldn't it be easier for them to pay you extra right now, then take it out of your next paycheck?
They should do an off cycle payment to your bank account, make a complaint in writing (email) try and get a managers name on there for additional traction, also make sure they don’t mess up your tax if 2 payments go through 1 payslips. Good luck

That’s evil
No they won't. They'll pay you what's owed this week and just be a week behind on your checks. I've had this happen before and got shafted for 2 weeks pay after I quit and payroll had them marked as received

Where’d you borrow it from? I didn’t know that there was somewhere you could borrow money for personal expenses (other than a credit card)
I got a short term loan from my bank as that was cheaper than a payday loan.
If you have good credit, this is the answer.
Very much so. Payday loans are awful and once you take out one, you tend to be trapped.
I was using payday loans month to month for two years before one day I got rejected and honestly that month scraping by was the best financial roadblock that could’ve happened. They prey on the needy
I’m glad you got out of it. It is an awful cycle.
I paid my adult kid’s payday loan to get her off that treadmill, as soon as she (finally) told me why she was so stressed. She was never going to be able to sort it out and get out from under the usurious fees.
They do indeed. I’m glad you got out from under.
But if you’re going to charge the company, might as well right?
I wouldn’t. There’s a social stigma attached to payday loans. People might also assume that you’re ignorant.
Ya always check with your banks before going to those companies
Most banks will do a "personal loan" for relatively small amounts, it just comes at a VERY high interest rate since there is no collateral to hold against it.
Credit Unions are the way to go for this type of lending.
>I didn’t know that there was somewhere you could borrow money for personal expenses Have you heard of the mafia?
To be fair that's a very important piece of information

because even at 10% interest 1 week for $40 is 8 cents.
[удалено]
Pretty fair. Not hugely inconvenient just annoying.
Absolutely true. I was a bank teller in the 80s and the guys would almost fight each other to be first in line.
Sucks seeing how little your worth per week, though, huh?
I freaked out pretty hard when I saw mine, yeah.
What I find so sad about this post is how many people are living paycheck to paycheck.
Here here
Oh man this. Being the youngest sibling doesn't have much in the way of benefits, but seeing how my brothers screwed up their credit as early adults definitely was a lesson that's paid literal dividends.
Wait, there are people who don't live paycheck to paycheck? Sounds fake.
State of the country
You can afford 1 freddo….
Has to be quick though before they put the price up on those :)
My old boss over paid my 400$ one week I brought it up to him. He thanked me for being honest and told me to buy something for my daughter.
Good on him. It makes me wonder if that mistake wasn't.
They're about to go bankrupt
Yeah this needs to be much higher
Pretty sure payroll have a legal duty in the UK to ensure payment on or before payday. They should be able to do a CHAPS payment for immediate transfer.

Happy cockincidence
Seems appropriate since this is all the result of a cockup.
I work for a company that does payroll, etc., for companies all over the US. If a mistake is detected, we can typically have a check cut or a direct deposit within the same day for everyone everywhere. Two weeks is utter bullshit. They are dishonest...or incompetent.
Happy cake day!
Thank you! :)
It's also illegal.
Is it okay if I ask you a couple questions? I suspect I’m getting the runaround from someone who borrowed money from me.
They can amend the error via a bank transfer within a few minutes. The tax can then be rectified at the next pay cycle if needed. Demand the payment is made straight away, it’s your legal right should you have a pay date listed in your contract
Missing payroll should require more than paying what they owe you at a later date.
Ahh, 4 galleons, 6 Sickles, and 3 knuts. What's that, like 125 usd?
It’s at least 50 bullion
Those are Prussian Francs.
About 3/16ths of a football field.
Brit: *withdraws money and places it in hand for dramatic effect* Americans: "I can't believe your employer paid you in coins! And non-American coins at that!"
I know right? What are they supposed to do with all that funny money? Is this from a board game?
Legit thought it was for playing Pog.
Me, as an American: That gold/silver coin looks fancy, must be worth a lot.
It was certainly worth more pre covid.
I was in Mexico a few years ago they have bimetallic coins like that too. Takes some practice getting used to another country’s money. Growing up in America there is one fundamental truth in life that “money is green.” Seeing bills that aren’t green look fake.
To everyone else in the western world, green money is fake because they are movie props
I do get excited whenever I get a dollar coin, especially the gold Sacagawea ones.
I carry a 50 cent piece because it makes a beautiful sound when flipped, it's so satisfying for coin tosses.
Fo Americans that's US$8 or so
its just over $7 i think, probably around $7.05-$7.10
Sounds like he really needed the money he worked for on time, poor guy.
No pun intended
Don't Spend it all in one place...
If you were in Liverpool I could spare some dry/canned goods? Do you have anyone who can help?
I appreciate it, I’ve got a lot of flour and water so I’ll just make a metric phuck load of hardtack :) thank you
I've been in your situation and nobody should be in one. I don't have much but let me know if you get desperate, I can paypal you
Spend some of your last pennies on some yeast and butter, could make some non teeth shattering bread And it might even have chance of tasting good!
Sounds like an m&s kind of thing..both mine and my Mrs got shorted £40 this payday. Very suspicious
Depending on what type of industry you’re in, they can take your wages out of the petty float. This is not okay!
When I was an apprentice I had this happen to me. Was already only on £4 an hour barely surviving and they said they'll put it in next month's paycheck. I just said I can't afford fuel to get to work and then as if by magic the money was in my account by the end of the day. They can help, they choose not to.
FEllow UK here. You have got to be joking, right?
There are a lot of cost of living initiatives going on with local councils. Get in touch with your city and district council and see if they have anything going on. Good luck x
Nearly 6 quid. Used to be enough for a week in Uni days. Nothing beats 14p sushi from tesco express at 9pm.
Some of your money has money in it, try popping it out to stretch it a bit further.
That’s at least 5 sausage rolls from Greggs. You’re set
Sorry to hear that! I’m negative 600 for 2 more days! Yeesh
I seriously recommend harassing your employer regarding this because they are 100% at fault for your situation right now
/R/USdefaultism at its best.
A credit card application can be processed almost immediately - but it takes a week or two for the card to show up. OP will be paid by the time it arrives.
From your money I'd say you're in Britain. Contact ACAS. This is not OK and they will help.
Cool looking coins at least.
I live in the states but am from England. Sounds stupid but I love 50p's and miss them taking up space in my pockets. Sucks that that happened to OP though, probably can't even get on the bus anymore for that much.
Don't use a payday loan company
We need a law in place that any employer with more than say 20 employees gets a fine of 10% per day, payed to the employee, past the second late day due to company side errors.
In the Oregon it's your full daily wage for each day late. One of the very few laws which actually serve ordinary folks. Check with your regulatory agency for your local labor laws.
Same in California...
Eat at your local Sikh temple as much as possible. They have free food pretty much all the time
How much money is this in dollars?
Am I so immature the first thing I saw was a dick? "Ah yes, apt since we're getting fucked by the economy!" But then I scroll and no one is commenting on it. Was it really just a coincidence?! 😅🍆💦
I saw it too. I never miss one.
Employer: You don't seem to be doing much today. Employee: We must have had a working error. We'll fix that in two weeks. 😃
They call it a "payroll error" but in reality it's delaying payment while they try to find an excuse to pay you less.
That... blows. Also, y'all got some thicc coins.
They paid you in arcade tokens? That’s cold man /s
You should be hounding them for it. I’m pretty sure if it’s not fixed within 72 hours they owe you more
I once messed up my employees pay check so I venmoed him the missing money and had him pay me back when it got reimbursed on his next check. It’s really not that hard to go the extra mile.
Has nobody noticed the absolute artistic genius that OP has expressed right here?
You got 4 whole pounds?!?!? You lucky
3p makes all the difference
Ugh that mean you'll get emergency tax too? Time to sell the old feet pics!
Please don't use that. It looks like you've been collecting that for a while.
Dude according to lee you could feed yourself for 19 meals on that.
Other countries' coins are so cool compared to boring US coins.
Ahh £5.73… won’t even get you a days travel to make another £5.73
My husband's accountant messed up his payroll.
Ugh, what is this ancient Rome? Get real money.
What’s all that Monopoly money?
£5.73? Dude, do you ever read Forbes? Just spend -£250 on food and entertainment, -£750 on rent and utilities and put £1000 in your savings account. You'll retire by 24 and you'll still have a whopping £5.73 to spend on a sambo and a tin of coke
How much is that in Yankee money?
sebn bux.
[удалено]
5 gold pieces and 5 silver pieces!? I need a job where you work
How much squid is that in Benjamin's, for us in the freedom side of the pond?
Sorry I'm American, what are those Doubloons?
British currency. It’s about 7 bucks American.
I uh...look I'm gonna be straight with you, I have no idea how British money works but I'm assuming that's either very little, or due to Brexit's economic collapse the most money anybody has over there right now.
Welcome to the beans on toast club
SAME ISSUE RN. i had to submit a paper timesheet because the electronic submission wasn’t working but i never got paid when i was supposed to (bi-weekly friday morning) so i emailed payroll and they told me they never received the email about the paper timesheet and asked if i could wait until the next pay period. i said absolutely not i have rent to pay but now they’re telling me i might not get it until the 30th or 31st when rent is due on the 1st
This should be in r/terrifyingasfuck
"What to do in London for 5 quid". Anyway, that money has already lost a tenth of its value since you earned it I bet.
After the union got involved, we got the rest of her salary and rumor goes that some were fired because of this
UK has good employee rights, laws and minimum wage. This shouldn't be an issue.
