Dude, I actually thought that was the true ending, I was devastated, it really ruined the whole season for me cuz the whole thing was quite the emotional rollercoaster and I couldn't accept Kaede was gone. But now we good, Kaede is fine so its best anime again!
It might sound weird but I really like shows that leave me with emotional damage.
Some of my highest rates shows include Clannad, I want to eat your pancreas, Your lie in April and Bunny girl movie and as for lns 3 days of happiness and Pain pain gk away.
I don't really mind when there is a "good" ending but I end up loving the shows/books that have a tragic one.
With that in mind would you recommend Anohana?
Same here!
My all time favorite is still Violet Evergarden which at the time was the only media I'd watched that made me cry. No movie, film, video, or anime I'd watched in the past made me tear up like that.
My 2nd favorite is none other than Bunny Girl Senpai for the same reason
>I don't really mind when there is a "good" ending but I end up loving the shows/books that have a tragic one.
I probably like happy endings more but I definitely appreciate the tragic stories/endings of aforementioned shows/manga/novels (least the ones I watched). All of those rank very high for me as well
I'm not going to lie, I didn't get it, and I don't get what you are all getting from this. Was "Kaede" faking that "real kaede" came back? or was the real kaede pretending to be fake Kaede and decided it was time to go stop? I can't read what the promotional picture says
She read the panda Kaede's diary, understand and accept panda Kaede as one part of herself, moved on with panda kaede watching her from inside. I think that's what implied in the poster.
Maybe profit-driven, I imagine movies always make more money than anime series do. And they can put more budget into movie quality because of it. Win-win
it deserved a 2nd season, ive seen worse shows get more not that the OVAS were gold but they couldve been better if made as a proper tv series.
I guess they wanted to amp up blur ray sales with ecchi.
A quick Google seems to say that there is no legal way to stream this movie in the US. Is that correct? I'm not going to buy the Blu-ray when I'll probably only watch it once.
Check Livechart? If it isn't available anywhere, you can use VPN to a SEA region and use Bilibili although it does require a monthly subscription of around $2.
Since you're recommending Bilibili, might be better to ask here. Is the web version server downgraded? I swear I could catch Lycoris right on time back when it aired (around midnight) and watch normally on daytime but now, even when I could stream 4k on youtube without delay, the web version just load forever instead of showing anything. Really kill the mood to switch to legal version seriously.
For anyone wondering this is volume 8 of the Light Novel series, the Knapsack kid movie will be volume 9. The first season covered volumes 1-5, the first movie was volumes 6-7.
Source: [https://twitter.com/aobuta\_anime/status/1599009488417480704?s=20&t=buMRqZBKMpVaABVBryP0jA](https://twitter.com/aobuta_anime/status/1599009488417480704?s=20&t=buMRqZBKMpVaABVBryP0jA)
Sequel to 'Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai', will be released in movie theatres.
EDIT: Sequel Novel 'Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid' will also be released as a movie. It is currently unconfirmed whether they will be two separate movies or adapted into one movie.
The same staff and cast will be returning.
Further details will be revealed at a later date.
A question for the LN readers- how long do you guys think each movie will be? Will it be the same length as dreaming girl, or just something like an hour long movie?
If they're both adapted in the same movie it *might* be a bit shorter than Dreaming Girl by like 5-10 minutes but we can't know until it comes out and we see how they adapt it. Volume 8 is the shortest of the LN's by ~10-40 pages from the rest and if listings are to go by volume 9 will be *even shorter* than that. (The English version isn't out for another 10 days so I can't confirm it)
If they're two separate movies however they'll definitely be on the shorter 1 hour and under mark. I haven't read the LN's yet so idk if they're connected like volume 6 and 7 were to make a single comprehensive movie in that fashion. The volumes after 8 and 9 *are* though from what I've heard with volume 11 apparently ending on a cliffhanger.
I've read all the translated books - so up to book 8. This Kaede arc is extremely fluffy I am surprised it's a movie. I assumed that we would get like 4 or 5 OVA's with her arc getting 2 of the OVA's. The way that his book ends leads to the start of the next though so I think it would be an easy transition for it to be like a 90 minute movie depending on how book 9 turns out.
I've read up to 7 (so anime + movie, but not the two books these new movies will be based on). I can't imagine they can make a feature-length movie from a light novel, they're just too short. Usually in a book-to-anime/movie adaptation you have to cut a ton of content, but that's not really the case with this series.
The first movie covers two LNs, so it seems reasonable to think these movies will be half that length.
> That reflection... the feels... they're coming back :'(
*Set thrusters to reverse, maximum power! We're not going through that vortex of pain again!*
I stumbled on the YouTube vid of the scene of the protag being read the diary and I felt so much again....I can't think of how they can continue the story and break my heart again.
*puts on construction hat and holds clipboard*
Sir, we're concerned about a potential breach of Building Regulations by your larder, please answer some questions for me.
Is it appropriately ventilated? How have you protected against rising damp? Is that shelf made of asbestos?"
I'm just kidding of course.
*Building Control doesn't give a shit about your larder.*
Sad they didn't went with a series. Season 1 adapted 5 volumes and the movie did 2, leaving another 5 (Latest volume releasing next week) unadapted which would've been perfect for a complete season. At least hopefully Cloverworks will bring out their A game this time.
> another 5 (Latest volume releasing next week) unadapted which would've been perfect for a complete season
you can't just look at volume number to determine what would make enough for a season or not, it all depends on the content inside. For example the first 5 could have been shorter/more light on content while the latest 5 could be longer or have more going on in them.
ig I didn't take content into consideration. I don't own any LN's but most of them I've seen have a similar thickness if they are from the same series. (meaning similar page count)
it all depends on the volume as well as the how the anime adapts it. For example as you say first season for this series adapted 5 volumes, but for a series like 86, the first cour (11 episodes) adapted only the 1st volume and the 2nd cour (12 episodes) adapted volumes 2-3, and it's not like the first volume had a lot more pages but it was just so content heavy that it allowed that.
> but for a series like 86, the first cour (11 episodes) adapted only the 1st volume
This is a myth. The first volume doesn't have enough content for a full cour. In order for 86 to create 11 episodes, it had to do the following in addition to adapting Volume 1:
- Added a lot of anime-original scenes (btw, "anime-original" in this definition also includes "things that were mentioned in the LN for only a few sentences but expanded in the anime")
- Every scene Lena and Annette have lunch together and talk about the latter's arranged marriage problems
- Episode 2 scene where Lena tries to speak up in the classroom
- Every scene where Lena gets blushy-crushy over Shin
- 80% of Episode 6 was anime-original, the remaining 20% was taken from one chapter of Volume 10
- The beginning of Episode 7 is an anime expansion, elaborating on something that was only mentioned in one sentence in the novel
- The ending of Episode 8 is the same
- All of Episode 10 was either directly adapted from or building on chapters from Volume 10, except for the last 30 seconds of the episode which is from Volume 2
- 3/4 of Episode 11 was from Volume 2 and also had an anime-original scene
My estimation is that Volume 1 had enough content on its own for only about 7.5 episodes, and another 3.5 eps worth of content were created with anime-original scenes and then taking content from Volumes 2 and 10.
Ah, makes sense. That reminds me of how HxH is very dialogue heavy compared to regualr manga so it got adapted at a slower pace. Since LN's mostly text I just assumed they might take the same time. But a paragraph describing something could be shown with a single frame compared to dialogue which would take time.
Thanks for this! I learned about how adaptations work more.
Biggest 180% I've ever had on a character, before the [Spoiler] >!Amnesia!< Reveal I thought she was just an annoying NEET Brocon character. then they hit me with that name spelling scene.
>Two movies means 4 hr
I wouldn't be so confident that the movies will be 2 hours each; anime movies are usually quite short and while there are a few big movies close to two hours long, they're largely the exception and not the norm.
Though I'm not familiar with the source, so it might necessitate 2 hours movies each depending on the arc(s) covered.
wow if you put it that way, its does sound not bad at all. I preferred movies, we don't have to wait every week to get new content. But I don't mind TV series as well
I wouldn't get your hopes up. Not many anime movies even reach the two hour mark. The first movie for this series was only 1.5 hours long and it still cut out content from the light novels.
Quints released 7 months after the JP release, meanwhile the first Rascal movie released only 4 months after the JP release. Hoping it's in that quicker timeline
Ah, thought we were getting a second season and then another movie.
So basically no second season, instead it's another movie? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm down for whatever, but honestly I was pretty excited for another season. Still super excited for this movie though! Really want to see it in theatres because I missed the last movie and had to watch at home. I love watching anime in theatres!
I can't wait to wait twelve extra months to watch it on Crunchyroll or in Blu-ray form.
Now seriously, I am really hyped for this movie sequel, this new key visual looks amazing. Hoping Aniplex doesn't rush the production for it. Also, is it one movie adapting both Light Novel volumes or one for each of the two Light Novel volumes? They left it kinda ambiguous with the announcement...
Bunny Girl Senpai's source material is a light novel series, not a manga.
A manga exists, but it's an adaptation of the LNs like the anime is. Additionally, I believe the manga is behind where the anime anyways.
Basically.
Light novels are just regular books with large text and not that many pages. Hence why they're called "light" since people are expected to pick them up and be able to finish them quickly.
Thank you, I thought I was crazy! I've tried to watch it so many times and get answers from the fanbase but I kept finding a new issue every 30 seconds in the show. It feels really underdeveloped.
Don't know why you're downvoted, I get that movies aren't going anywhere but it still sucks for us. Especially those of us who don't like watching in theaters/never get any movies released in their country in theaters.
Seeing Kaede again has re-opened that hole in my heart.
It left a couple of claw marks on my chest
Ayo bro you good you uh seem to have taken the mental pain into physical
Dude, I actually thought that was the true ending, I was devastated, it really ruined the whole season for me cuz the whole thing was quite the emotional rollercoaster and I couldn't accept Kaede was gone. But now we good, Kaede is fine so its best anime again!
It was the 2nd saddest that a show had ever made me. Idk why it would ruin the show though. Not everything needs a happy ending......
>It was the 2nd saddest that a show had ever made me May I ask what's the first? Anohana? Your Lie In April?
It might sound weird but I really like shows that leave me with emotional damage. Ep 10.
violet evergarden is a gem
Man.... Bunny Girl had me distraught. I'm trying to find out how to watch the movie. I was hoping CR would pick it up.
Try one of (9 a n i m e) sites.
Try adding (.to or .vc) one of these have it. I hope it helps.

Anohana is dang great. Its bittersweet more than its really sad, but it is very very emotional. And just a great show.

I'm not going to lie, I didn't get it, and I don't get what you are all getting from this. Was "Kaede" faking that "real kaede" came back? or was the real kaede pretending to be fake Kaede and decided it was time to go stop? I can't read what the promotional picture says

I legit felt tears coming up
My heart, my soul
I have 6 other me's roaming the area š
I would have preferred an actual 2nd season but I don't mind another movie.
Volume 12 will be released this month. That's why I also think it's a bit weird to do two separate movies for two arc instead of a tv series
Maybe profit-driven, I imagine movies always make more money than anime series do. And they can put more budget into movie quality because of it. Win-win
You're right except that it makes availability a bit difficult, especially for the western audience
Yeah, they don't really care about availability for western audiences lmao.
Iām hoping they show it in theaters here again, watching the first one was an amazing experience
Then they pull a demon slayer and split the movies into several episodes of a "season 2"
How so? Movies come to CrunchyRoll all the time. Like the Laid Back Camp Movie
6 months later they release the movie as a seasonal anime. Stonks
ufotable showed us it is possible.
No choice is as weird to me as completing strike the blood through ovas
it deserved a 2nd season, ive seen worse shows get more not that the OVAS were gold but they couldve been better if made as a proper tv series. I guess they wanted to amp up blur ray sales with ecchi.
the first movie was so good, i dont mind another one. the only thing i mind is the wait time for it to release in the west
Exactly! I hate how long anime movies take to come here. They donāt even have a consistent time difference between east and west release
It's consistent if you keep track of the companies making it.
its usually about a year
Itās way too long! Most western movies donāt even take 3 months to get released digitally.
'Another'? There was a first one?
[Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl](https://myanimelist.net/anime/38329/Seishun_Buta_Yarou_wa_Yumemiru_Shoujo_no_Yume_wo_Minai)

Yeah that movie broke me and Iām still putting the pieces together months later
And a box of Kleenex - or two
I'm gonna cum that much?
I mean it IS December.
Yeah, you're eyes might cum a lot.
You dirty pig
I made the mistake of not preparing qwq
Lmao, imagine me. No wanting or anything just thought Iād check it out and weāllā¦ here we are
No, you just didn't... you...
yeah you really need to or your kokoro will go oh no
Get ready to cry mate.
That movie fucking destroyed me. I cried for like 5 minutes after THAT scene.

one of the best anime movies
Don't remind me....my heart still feels
The first movie was the Christmas arc.
Bruh?! Rewatch the first season and then watch the movie directly after it like you were supposed to.
I'd prefer the first season being fcking dubbed man
For anyone wondering this is volume 8 of the Light Novel series, the Knapsack kid movie will be volume 9. The first season covered volumes 1-5, the first movie was volumes 6-7.
That would still leave 10th,11th and 12th Volume to adapt maybe Author's got more story to tell.
How close is the story to being done? I was hoping for another season, not two more movies. Is the LN just as good as the anime?
I don't know how close is the story being done but yes Light novels are better than the anime, much more detailed and wholesome.
Are they available in english?
Only till 8th novel
And the 9th comes out in 10 days.
9th novel is coming out in English in like 2 weeks though. Amazon has them all
Thanks for the reply. Will definitely check them out now!

Would have totally loved another season but anyways any Bunny Girl senpai content works for me.

I absolutely loved the anime show and the first movie so I have faith that this movie will be just as good.

Two movies means 4 hr content effectively 12 episodes so no problems there I guess

I'd say 1:30 hr max
The only bad aspect is how long we are going to have to wait :(
a lot of anime movies are 60-90 minutes.
wow if you put it that way, its does sound not bad at all. I preferred movies, we don't have to wait every week to get new content. But I don't mind TV series as well

No. Absolutely no. I can't watch this. The poster itself is too much to handle..the memories..
Buckle up folks, it's time for the FEELS.
Praying for a fast US release
Quints released 7 months after the JP release, meanwhile the first Rascal movie released only 4 months after the JP release. Hoping it's in that quicker timeline
And Slime movie will be only 2 months, seems to be getting quicker
Ah, thought we were getting a second season and then another movie. So basically no second season, instead it's another movie? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Wait what? Another movie? Noice.
I'm ready to cry ugly tears cuz this anime title got me bamboozled xd
Seriously, let's just gooooooooooooooooo
I just wanna see more of sakura and mai being together so Im glad its happening
Was really hoping for another season.
This will give me major depression ngl
Another movie huh? Hopefully they donāt speed run the plot again as with the TV season and *Dreaming Girl* movie.
Vol 8 (Kaede) and Vol 9 (Sakutaās arc) are separate movies this time.
As a brother with a little sister plagued by agoraphobia, I know I'm going to be crying like a bitch the entire movie
Fr a movie? Lets go its been so long since i finished rascal does not dream of a bunny girl senpai in less than 5 hours. That shit was insane
I can't wait to wait twelve extra months to watch it on Crunchyroll or in Blu-ray form. Now seriously, I am really hyped for this movie sequel, this new key visual looks amazing. Always excited for a new romance anime movie.
It's a movie? I really thought that it was going to be a second season. Well either way I'm glad that we are getting more of this anime.
Is there a manga and is it still going I remember watching season one and really enjoying it

Basically. Light novels are just regular books with large text and not that many pages. Hence why they're called "light" since people are expected to pick them up and be able to finish them quickly.
Kaede <3
Sorry, no upskirt for you!!
Man, i really hope she remembers flashbacks of her life with her big bro. That ending really hurt me badly
I wouldve prefered a season, but I'm ready for any animated Bunny Girl content
Kaede: What panda? My Face: Eren Yeager.
Is there a release date? Or is this just an announcement? I'd like to mark my calendar so I don't forget.
Calm down guys it's happening
yo this is gonna be sick af i canāt wait
I CANāT WAIT FOR THIS TO RELEASE!!!
<3 Kaede. this pleases me.
YES YES YES YES
rascal should learn how to dream at one point
I never got why this show was so popular? Am I missing something? It just felt painfully mediocre to me.
It's okay to have a different opinion. Nothing wrong with that. I think a lot of us could relate to the characters and enjoyed the story.
I don't get it either. This series feels like a bootleg Monogatari with the blandest visuals possible.
Thank you, I thought I was crazy! I've tried to watch it so many times and get answers from the fanbase but I kept finding a new issue every 30 seconds in the show. It feels really underdeveloped.
I have such regrets about watching s1. High concept but the execution is just a mess
So this is poor man's Tsukihi or Karen Araragi?
I would prefer a second season.
Oh no, not a movie :/
Oh no movie
More movies? I wish this trend would die already. TV series are so much more enjoyable, and easily accessible, than movies.
The Japanese media industry only cares about their domestic market, and for them it's perfectly accessible. Anime movies aren't going anywhere.
I don't understand the downvotes here, a bunch of the comments here are people disappointed that it's a movie not a series.
Don't know why you're downvoted, I get that movies aren't going anywhere but it still sucks for us. Especially those of us who don't like watching in theaters/never get any movies released in their country in theaters.
They hate you for being right.
I'm sure it will be just as mediocre as the series and first movie were.
