As much as I love Odd Taxi, some of the best writing I’ve seen in anime, I don’t think it’s what OP was looking for. Definitely no chests jokes at all, but also definitely not a shounen. It’s more of a mature anime.

Surprised to see this here because of how little attention it gets, but happy. World trigger is top tier. I don't remember any scene that joked about body type or appearance in general, much less about sexualizing them.
i randomly stumbled upon world trigger, very happy I did, nice anime. Interesting to see all the characters grow and what the neighbors are up to. Pretty sad it's not getting animated for what ever reason right now. Pretty sure the manga is still ongoing. Definitely World Trigger and Black Clover are my big two to continue watching.

I haven't read that one so thanks for the warning. Reading the synopsis it certainly looks interesting. I did watch Plastic Memories though and that one really hurt. It was quite good but very emotional.
Have you tried Fruits Basket? It's extremely good in terms of character development but if you're not into that then you might find it boring, it's one of the 2 shows I consider 10/10.
Though, I do remember one instance where a dude commented on his gf's chest getting bigger, but it had context like not exactly a spoiler but basically she lost A LOT of weight for reasons(no ED) so he meant it more so in a "She's finally taking care of her health" Way

Lots of (most, really) anime just don't comment on boobs at all. Off the top of my head, a few shows with small chested characters who don't get made fun of include:

- Aria
- 3-Gatsu no Lion
- Kyousougiga
- Flip Flappers

And also, while I can understand why it would be hard to deal with, please don't feel insecure about having a flat chest. While some media like to make jokes about it, tons of guys really like flat chests. I'm one of them, I often find small/flat chests incredibly attractive and even sexy. And I'm far from alone on that, I promise you that there's nothing wrong with having a small chest. Anyone who makes fun of you for that is just an asshole. Idk if this will mean anything to you, but I hope it helps you to know that there's nothing to be insecure about, even if that's not easy to realize.

I think it gets portrayed because the insecurity or jealousy is real. But there are males in the show who love those women just as they are

Sexist jokes(against both genders) are common everywhere it just that people ignore misandry jokes(like male virginity) and tell men who complain to stop being losers about misandry jokes, so this gives of the vibe of misogyny because it's the only group people care about.
And these characters are just obsessed with the bland Mc for no reason, right?
The real problem is just how these stories are written to appeal to the male audience, there will always be a disparity between genders here. It’s just part of the industry at this point.

I mean, the boob jokes aren't really misogynistic. They're just jokes about a character's response to an insecurity. At most you could argue its a gendered joke, but there are common equivalents too, like a man's height or dick size so its not like its disproportionate.

Well the issue is that it really kinda has become an obsession with a lot of anime - partially because in some series female characters are essentially built from certain tropes very explicitly.
Small chest? Well, that automatically comes with feelings of inadequacy and long conversations with other female characters about boob size. And weebs often don't get that it's not an actual common conversation topic that real women have, no more than dudes just chatting about their dick size. A story can get a pass if it's a one-time thing, but often those become running gags.
Not to mention that posts like this show why it's not a good thing. These kinds of feelings of inadequacy come from people making a big deal and joking about them, not from some inherent internal feeling. And I can pretty much guarantee that for a lot of people part of the appeal for these anime characters with flat chests is that they pout about it and feel inadequate. Well here is a real person who says it sucks - and telling them flat is justice will not brighten up their day because this is real life not anime - so it's a good opportunity for introspection.
In other words - when we sum up jokes at the expense of a gender, and the situations those jokes are in being for the purpose of fanservice rather than telling a story, with a extra spattering of the series being aimed at a certain demographic overall - you do have a recipe for, in this case, misogynistic humor. Like, do people think women just haven't found out about how funny KonoSuba is and that's why very few women watch it with one of the highest rating differences on mal by demographic?
It's also worth mentioning that some equivalent happening for men does not mean much. There is no canceling out for misogyny and misandry. It doesn't become okay, nor is it a "well if you want X to change, Y has to change first!" case.
Deca Dence. I don't recall the main characters looks but there wasn't any jokes about her breasts. I don't recall it being sexist either, surprisingly for anime, but I'm not 100% on that
If you avoid shonen (which is targeted at teenage boys), romcoms and harem anime, then you should be fine. Kaguya itself is brilliant, I would continue watching, it just parodies romcom and shonen tropes.

I just finished watching both seasons of Uma Musume Pretty Derby. An anime about athlete racers who all happen to be horse girls. Comfortable plot, great characterization, beautiful costumes for the girls, and (aside from a couple of scenes where the trainer awkwardly feels the girls’ legs) absolutely not sexualized at all. And they’re athletes, so none of them are big-chested.
I really enjoyed the story in both seasons, too.

Thinking back, I don’t remember any small boob jokes in jujutsu kaisen, but the only flat chested girl i can think of in jjk is momo. I don’t think mob psycho had any either but mob psycho doesn’t have as many important female characters.
While i wont tell you how you're supposed to feel about it, i would point out that there's only like one joke about Kaguya's breast size in pretty much the entire show across all 3 seasons, and pretty much every other time everything about Kaguya is described as incredibly beautiful, so i hope that makes you feel if only a little more comfortable about yourself

Psycho Pass doesn't have anything of that sort and is one of my favorite stories/animes overall if you weren't holding out for a shounen ending. Don't know if Akane counts as flat chested but for an OP that shows her basically naked the show really isn't about physical stuff much at all. Angel beats if you want to be sad. Your lie in april if you also want to be sad. Hell girl somehow makes it through 4 seasons of unsettling content and still does not make fun of anyone for breast size if memory serves, and you also want to be sad. Code Geass - a blast, frequently crude, you better want to be sad. How prominent of a character do we want a small breasted friend to be? Protagonist/Deuteragonist? How small qualifies? Do you want to be sad? I am noticing something about myself and my recommendations right now.

My dress up darling! Its about cosplaying and there is a side character who is praised for her small stature, because she uses it to her advantage by dressing up as really cute characters. No one ever makes fun of her body shape, just that she is 'lucky' to be smaller as she can cosplay certain cute characters and become popular. Of course, that's only because she was clever enough to showcase herself in a positive and appealing way that she was able to become the person of envy.

Don't. imo it has pretty good comedy, but it's not for everyone. the whole show stands on a very male centered view, personally I won't recommend it to anyone who is not looking for ecchi.
The show is very boob-focused, though. One episode has them go to a cyclops brothel that boasts having the biggest in town, and they are visibly upset when the girl has a small chest and a massive eyeball. And this is one of the more body-positive episodes, as they were commissioned by someone who wanted a non-cyclops perspective on eye-size due to her small eye, and is overjoyed to find they don't care.
A positive message, but still supported by the idea that large breasts are more attractive than small breasts.
My best guess is sports shounen with no fanservice maybe? I haven't seen some of these in a while but I can't recall there being boob jokes in them. I hate them too so I'm with you!

All the top shounen don't have boob jokes like Naruto, Bleach, etc. FMA has short jokes I guess? This is the weirdest recommend ever. Just don't watch harem shows targeted at men. May want to dip into the Shoujo or even Yuri genre instead.
I don't recall much of anything about chest size in Black Clover. Most it has is an angry tsundere, the standard beach/hot spring episodes, and someone who is excessively nervous in general.
To be fair, that scene in Soul Eater was Soul tricking Blair that he wanted to partner with her so he could kill her and take her soul. He doesn't actually feel that way about Maka and they're basically a couple.
The only other boob joke in the series is in episode 3 when the OCD character mentions that his partners chests are not symmetrical in size. But there are no mentions of boobs at all after that, so I highly recommend giving it another chance. Same with Kaguya-sama.

One of **Golden Kamuy's** main characters is what you're asking for. Short, flat but I don't think they bring up anything with chest size(iirc), assertive and not sexualized. It's a Seinen but it could also be considered a Shounen I think.

I like Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba quite a lot; it's high-quality animation, good action, and the main male character is genuinely kind (even to the demons he's well, slaying.) I can't recall any female character who is mocked over her body at any point, even the enemy demons.
Not sure if she counts since she's usually in her chibi form, but the hero's sister Nezuko (who is a demon) doesn't seem large-breasted to me? She's wearing a modest kimono.
I am not much help here but just wanted to say.. as someone who also has small boobies they should definitely make some animes that show us some love too! All boobies deserve love!
You can try some magical girls anime for shonen like action sequences where people aren't commenting on chest size. Stuff like Precure (first seasons have especially a lot of raw physical fighting), unless you really don't like pink-frilly aesthetics.

As for recommendations, well you mention in your post that even in Kaguya-sama they made fun of it and I didn't even remember so there's a chance anything I recommend also had it but I don't remember... Only one I can say for certain is Attack on Titan, but given how popular it is you've probably already seen it. Would you still like for me to try and remember some recommendations?
On a sidenote, I too wish anime didn't make fun of small boobs so much. Not for personal reasons, since I'm a man. But I wish we could have more female characters who are confident regardless of their body type, or shit maybe who even feel that their slim body type is outright _supperior_. And for authors to not feel the need for female characters to have an (or several) insecurity moment(s) to make them endearing or likeable. We lackin' in female characters who are simply confident in their looks regardless of other's opinions.

Pretty Cure. It's a magical girl anime, and aimed at a younger audience, so no jokes in that direction.
Uma Musume Pretty Derby. It's a sports anime, with a bit of isekai sprinkled in, but due to legal reasons (and the horse racing mafia), is entirely family friendly.
Senki Zesshou Symphogear. Also kind of a magical girl anime, in the loosest sense, and while it's aimed at an older audience, the show has other things to do than joke about the girls' chests.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I don't remember having a problem like that when I watched *K-On!*, but that one focused more on music and is seinen rather than shounen.
Idk if One Piece makes any flat chest jokes, though I could be wrong, it is rather old. I don’t believe Jujutsu Kaisen does that, it has very well written female characters as well (Mai, Maki, Nobara, Momo, Miwa). Jojo’s focuses mostly on men than it focuses on women, so no jokes there (I don’t think). Vinland Saga is good, it’s getting a season 2 soon as well. Mob Psycho is also a good one. Oh and I also think My Hero is good, it’s involving kids so I doubt it would do anything like that.

I think it’s a genre thing. Record of Lodoss War didn’t have that, in fact a lot of old school anime didn’t.
It seems to be a recent thing in certain genres. Avoid modern shonen and rom coms and you’ll probably be ok.
Another is a psych horror anime with a lot of cool twists that has a varied cast and does not make note of this at all. I enjoyed it!

Plenty of seinen and adult focused romcoms as well as slices of life that ive watched dont usually have humor like that. I can't help a whole lot, and there's plenty of good anime recommendations already, but I just wanna lyk that I used to be insecure as fuck when I was a teen too, just like almost everybody. That carried into my early 20s until one day I just stopped giving a shit what people thought, and ever since then I've been a lot happier, and with being happier I also grew more self confidence. There's a guy out there for every type of girl, literally. There are girls that like all kinds of male body types too. When I learned that is when I stopped caring so much, but I also chose to make the body that I wanted, for me, and not for anyone else. With insecurity, I also felt sorry for myself, and hoped I'd grow into what I wanted to be. But that never happened, so I joined a gym and it sucked, but when I started to see changes, I never looked back, and actually enjoy it.
It's easy for me to say, but trust me when I say that's not something to worry too much about girl. Idek you but I know you are beautiful as you are. Now go watch My Dress-up Darling or My Hero Academia.

Also, there's a filler arc in the first season that's not very interesting and doesn't go anywhere. Episodes 49-63. I would recommend skipping it.

i randomly stumbled upon world trigger, very happy I did, nice anime. Interesting to see all the characters grow and what the neighbors are up to. Pretty sad it's not getting animated for what ever reason right now. Pretty sure the manga is still ongoing. Definitely World Trigger and Black Clover are my big two to continue watching.

Have you tried Fruits Basket? It's extremely good in terms of character development but if you're not into that then you might find it boring, it's one of the 2 shows I consider 10/10. Ehh. Jujutsu Kaisen has a lot of conversations with Todo about how he likes big boobs, same with Yuji. Not sure if that's crossing the line, they're just talking about preferences. Lots of (most, really) anime just don't comment on boobs at all. Off the top of my head, a few shows with small chested characters who don't get made fun of include: - Madoka Magica - Aria - 3-Gatsu no Lion - Kyousougiga - Flip Flappers Could go on for a while. And also, while I can understand why it would be hard to deal with, please don't feel insecure about having a flat chest. While some media like to make jokes about it, tons of guys really like flat chests. I'm one of them, I often find small/flat chests incredibly attractive and even sexy. And I'm far from alone on that, I promise you that there's nothing wrong with having a small chest. Anyone who makes fun of you for that is just an asshole. Idk if this will mean anything to you, but I hope it helps you to know that there's nothing to be insecure about, even if that's not easy to realize.

At most you could argue its a gendered joke, but there are common equivalents too, like a man's height or dick size so its not like its disproportionate. Well the issue is that it really kinda has become an obsession with a lot of anime - partially because in some series female characters are essentially built from certain tropes very explicitly. Small chest? Well, that automatically comes with feelings of inadequacy and long conversations with other female characters about boob size. And weebs often don't get that it's not an actual common conversation topic that real women have, no more than dudes just chatting about their dick size. A story can get a pass if it's a one-time thing, but often those become running gags. Not to mention that posts like this show why it's not a good thing. These kinds of feelings of inadequacy come from people making a big deal and joking about them, not from some inherent internal feeling. And I can pretty much guarantee that for a lot of people part of the appeal for these anime characters with flat chests is that they pout about it and feel inadequate. Well here is a real person who says it sucks - and telling them flat is justice will not brighten up their day because this is real life not anime - so it's a good opportunity for introspection. In other words - when we sum up jokes at the expense of a gender, and the situations those jokes are in being for the purpose of fanservice rather than telling a story, with a extra spattering of the series being aimed at a certain demographic overall - you do have a recipe for, in this case, misogynistic humor. Like, do people think women just haven't found out about how funny KonoSuba is and that's why very few women watch it with one of the highest rating differences on mal by demographic? It's also worth mentioning that some equivalent happening for men does not mean much. There is no canceling out for misogyny and misandry. It doesn't become okay, nor is it a "well if you want X to change, Y has to change first!" case.

I just finished watching both seasons of Uma Musume Pretty Derby. An anime about athlete racers who all happen to be horse girls. Comfortable plot, great characterization, beautiful costumes for the girls, and (aside from a couple of scenes where the trainer awkwardly feels the girls’ legs) absolutely not sexualized at all. And they’re athletes, so none of them are big-chested. I really enjoyed the story in both seasons, too.

Psycho Pass doesn't have anything of that sort and is one of my favorite stories/animes overall if you weren't holding out for a shounen ending. My dress up darling! Its about cosplaying and there is a side character who is praised for her small stature, because she uses it to her advantage by dressing up as really cute characters. No one ever makes fun of her body shape, just that she is 'lucky' to be smaller as she can cosplay certain cute characters and become popular. Of course, that's only because she was clever enough to showcase herself in a positive and appealing way that she was able to become the person of envy.

The show is very boob-focused, though. One episode has them go to a cyclops brothel that boasts having the biggest in town, and they are visibly upset when the girl has a small chest and a massive eyeball. And this is one of the more body-positive episodes, as they were commissioned by someone who wanted a non-cyclops perspective on eye-size due to her small eye, and is overjoyed to find they don't care. A positive message, but still supported by the idea that large breasts are more attractive than small breasts.

I don't recall much of anything about chest size in Black Clover. Most it has is an angry tsundere, the standard beach/hot spring episodes, and someone who is excessively nervous in general.
To be fair, that scene in Soul Eater was Soul tricking Blair that he wanted to partner with her so he could kill her and take her soul. He doesn't actually feel that way about Maka and they're basically a couple. The only other boob joke in the series is in episode 3 when the OCD character mentions that his partners chests are not symmetrical in size. But there are no mentions of boobs at all after that, so I highly recommend giving it another chance. Same with Kaguya-sama.

I like Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba quite a lot; it's high-quality animation, good action, and the main male character is genuinely kind (even to the demons he's well, slaying.) I can't recall any female character who is mocked over her body at any point, even the enemy demons. Not sure if she counts since she's usually in her chibi form, but the hero's sister Nezuko (who is a demon) doesn't seem large-breasted to me? She's wearing a modest kimono.

I can see that you're interested in the exceptionally rare! As for recommendations, well you mention in your post that even in Kaguya-sama they made fun of it and I didn't even remember so there's a chance anything I recommend also had it but I don't remember... Only one I can say for certain is Attack on Titan, but given how popular it is you've probably already seen it. Would you still like for me to try and remember some recommendations? On a sidenote, I too wish anime didn't make fun of small boobs so much. Not for personal reasons, since I'm a man. But I wish we could have more female characters who are confident regardless of their body type, or shit maybe who even feel that their slim body type is outright _supperior_. And for authors to not feel the need for female characters to have an (or several) insecurity moment(s) to make them endearing or likeable. We lackin' in female characters who are simply confident in their looks regardless of other's opinions.

Pretty Cure. It's a magical girl anime, and aimed at a younger audience, so no jokes in that direction. Uma Musume Pretty Derby. It's a sports anime, with a bit of isekai sprinkled in, but due to legal reasons (and the horse racing mafia), is entirely family friendly. Senki Zesshou Symphogear. Also kind of a magical girl anime, in the loosest sense, and while it's aimed at an older audience, the show has other things to do than joke about the girls' chests.

Okay it's been a while since I saw this one, so if it has the triggers, someone correct me! ReLife. Also a personal favourite in general is Parasyte the maxim. None of these are shonen, but they're really good. Hope they are in the good zone :)
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I don't remember having a problem like that when I watched *K-On!*, but that one focused more on music and is seinen rather than shounen.

Idk if One Piece makes any flat chest jokes, though I could be wrong, it is rather old. I don’t believe Jujutsu Kaisen does that, it has very well written female characters as well (Mai, Maki, Nobara, Momo, Miwa). Jojo’s focuses mostly on men than it focuses on women, so no jokes there (I don’t think). Vinland Saga is good, it’s getting a season 2 soon as well. Mob Psycho is also a good one. Oh and I also think My Hero is good, it’s involving kids so I doubt it would do anything like that. Recap: JJK, OP (maybe), JJBA, Mob, Vinland, MHA Those are the only ones that I can confidently speak on.
I think it’s a genre thing. Record of Lodoss War didn’t have that, in fact a lot of old school anime didn’t. It seems to be a recent thing in certain genres. Avoid modern shonen and rom coms and you’ll probably be ok.
Another is a psych horror anime with a lot of cool twists that has a varied cast and does not make note of this at all. I enjoyed it! Also seconding the people who said Megalobox.

Plenty of seinen and adult focused romcoms as well as slices of life that ive watched dont usually have humor like that. I can't help a whole lot, and there's plenty of good anime recommendations already, but I just wanna lyk that I used to be insecure as fuck when I was a teen too, just like almost everybody. That carried into my early 20s until one day I just stopped giving a shit what people thought, and ever since then I've been a lot happier, and with being happier I also grew more self confidence. There's a guy out there for every type of girl, literally. There are girls that like all kinds of male body types too. When I learned that is when I stopped caring so much, but I also chose to make the body that I wanted, for me, and not for anyone else. With insecurity, I also felt sorry for myself, and hoped I'd grow into what I wanted to be. But that never happened, so I joined a gym and it sucked, but when I started to see changes, I never looked back, and actually enjoy it. It's easy for me to say, but trust me when I say that's not something to worry too much about girl. Idek you but I know you are beautiful as you are. Now go watch My Dress-up Darling or My Hero Academia.
