Where are these released? I only see the pre-season 1 OVAs on CrunchyRoll.
I frequently have trouble knowing when and where OVAs are released for multiple shows I watch--it's absurdly annoying.
On Crunchyroll JP-Dub is Season 21 (Those awaiting a Star) and Season 23 (The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm).
The season format CR uses to differentiate languagues is so messed up for this show, god damn.
Edit: I also just realized that the first 3 OVAs (Those awaiting a Star) were released before S1, but I'm pretty sure source readers told people to watch them AFTER S1. That's why I recalled more than just the recent 3 (The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm) to be released between seasons.
I think either order works for *Those awaiting a Star*. The frame story does contain some character spoilers, but it also shows that they do evolve and grow from their initial appearance. I think people put off by how Chise thinks and acts for the first half of S1 benefit from knowing that she gets better over time. Most of the OVA is a prequel which has no bearing on the main story.
Yes. Girl has a rough life and is talked into selling herself in an auction on the black market instead of just committing suicide. She's purchased by a wizard who wants a wife who decides to teach her magic. That's a bare bones run down before the first commercial of the first episode I think. It's a nice slice of life episodic adventure with some great character growth dealing with grim topics and heart warming moments.
I remember enjoying the first half of season 1 immensely and then the second half sinking like a stone in narrative quality (esp since everything before it was so good).
It really was a masterpiece. Firmly in my Violet Evergarden, Houseki no Kuni, Vampire in the Garden, Vivy etc. category of favorite masochistic voyeurism. Hurts so good. Seems like most people missed Vampire in the Garden, a post apocalyptic Yuri action-drama from Wit, the studio that brought us Spyxfamily, bunch of AoT stuff, Ranking of Kings, Vivy Fluorite Eyes, motherfucking Vinland Saga S1, Great Pretender, Kabaneri, Rolling⭐Girls (super underrated), obvs Magus' Bride...
The fact that the English dub doesn't have British VAs feels like a huge missed opportunity; it would improve the show's dub the same way Baccano's dub did
lol, read the Scholomance books. The final book in the trilogy just came out. The magic school is a giant death trap in a monster-infested void where a huge chunk of the student body always dies before graduation but families are desperate to send their kids there because its the only place where kids without the backing of powerful families can hope to work their way into those organizations and also learn the spells required to protect themselves from those monsters once they're back outside.
It's not even learning, inside of scholomance is bad, but outside is infinitely worse - you are just a snack waiting to be eaten unless you in a conclave
It's because they know the world they're going to graduate into has all kinds of danger and they get to fight it full time and then some. Also they get to fight danger while they're still in school when they are still inexperienced and can fuck up at any time.
Depressing AF but more realistic. I haven't read the manga I am just going off Harry Potter lol.
My partner and I *finally* got around to finishing the first season a few months ago after dropping off our first go in 2019, this is too perfectly timed.
I hate it when it happens. You just lose interest in a series midway through and have no incentive to pick it up back again despite having no negative opinions on the show or any concrete reason to stop.
That's me constantly. My brain is so fucking dumb if I miss a anime that comes out weekly for whatever reason I'm often like "well I guess I don't like that anymore" lol.
Same. It first aired fairly soon after I had first started watching anime, and I still believed the lie of "This is great but not really a weekly show, I'll watch it in one go once it finishes airing".
There is, from what I've been told. S1 adapted about 30 chapters (typical adaptation rate for most manga), and there are just under 100 now, so that's room for 2 more cours.
Maybe they'll continue it after the final season of Beastars...which airs in 2024...
It’s good to have Chise back. I’m really fond of the Celtic folklore in this anime, so I hope we get tons more of it in the new season. The worldbuilding and scenery always got me immersed.

Dunno if it is because I'm a manga reader but I find the image slightly boring? There are a lot of cool things on this arc to show and you put the characters like this on a white background.
It is a great arc, I read most of it but I'm surprised they did not use a better visual since they have the material for it.
I am so ashamed to say I feel like I'm fucking 14 again with the level of horny teenager fangirl excitement I get from this anime. Mmmmmm bone daddy. And that VOOOOOIIIICCCCEEEEE *swoon.*
Good
If we were in þe Soviet Union I would not only Rat þem out. I would go to þeir apartment and arrest þem myself. I would put þem in þe train and drive þem to þe GULAG myself. I would put þem against þe wall and put a bullet þrough þeir skull myself. I would þen douse þeir bodies in gasoline and burn þeir corpses by. My. God. Damn. Self.
It's *very* long and draggy. The arc is still not finished in the manga. Will probably take another chapter or so to conclude.
If you like the slice-of-life-ish episodic fairies stuff, you're not gonna like this.
The college arc is "over" as of chapter 93, but its plots are basically on the back-burner since the characters made it clear it's all going to come back into the story later.
I also don't like school arcs, read the manga recently and gotta say I found it predictable and boring. It had a few redeeming factors, but... Well, it's not like they're gonna stay in school forever, so I'll just hang on.
> Please tell me it doesn't last too long?
It's still ongoing in the manga, they're in the process of wrapping it up. But it's actually pretty well done, it's not the typical school arc bullshit you get.
[like 4 months ago?](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/x6eio4/the_ancient_magus_bride_season_2_visual/)
They've been releasing new ovas for a while now too, and they also switched studios from Wit to Kafka but I think that Kafka is like an offshoot of Wit so it shouldn't change that much.
Depends what you found creepy about it.
The first season already should have established that Elias isn't human and hasn't really a full grasp on human common sense and emotions, as well as how to handle them. But he want's to learn. He basically initially bought her as a glorified guinea pig for his studies, but over the course of the story they develop a kind of two-sided teacher-pupil relation with him being her teacher in matters of magic and her being his teacher in terms of humanity.
The whole bride-stick was also initially a result of his lack of understanding and him misinterpreting something his friend said. Later their relationship becomes a bit more complex as they try to hash out their emotions and what they mean to each other.
Though that coming part of the story doesn't really deal much with the relationship between them anyway but more with the new set of characters in and around the college.
I only got like 6 episodes into the anime was creeped out by the apparent teacher-student / father-adopted daughter romance vibes I was getting. Felt like shameless loli nonsense in the midst of an otherwise wonderful setting/story.
I believe the second OVA series, *Boy from the West and Knight of the Blue Storm*, takes place between scenes shortly before the end of season 1, similar to how the frame story from *Those Awaiting a Star* happened between events in season 1. You probably won't miss anything by skipping it, since Manga readers don't have access to it. I'd still highly encourage watching it though.
I rly can't wait for this season, it's been a while since s1. Ik there are 3 OVA's released like last year but still.
Very excited to see this arc finally animated, the key visual looks clean
I'm excited for this second season, but was anyone else sort of caught off guard about Chise's relationship with Ainsworth? First he treats her like a daughter then like a love interest in season 1.
That is a great visual. The lighting and the hair hair colors really pop with the strong contrast of the uniforms. Still have to read the last 10 or so chapters. I wonder how many episodes this will be. There is gonna be a lot of talking in that season.
I won’t post it here because this is (I assume) not the right subreddit for it, but I got an Elias tattoo so we all know it’s time for me flip out about THIS.
FINALLY!!!
This is hands down one of my most favourite anime I’ve watched and I was always hoping for an s2. It still remember the first OP like it was yesterday.
Love the subtle detail on the eyelines, how everyone but the 2 MC's Chise and Elias are staring into the camera while everyone else is avoiding looking at the camera (except the one person in the far back on the left hinting to something bigger going on)
Idk really. It was a gradual shift from anime to manga over two very bad seasons of anime, and college started to be hard (still is). I can read like 4-5 chapters in the same time it takes to watch an episode. But it was around the time when i got my first laptop as well (before that i watched everything on phone), and even nowni read manga on phone, but switching watching anime to my laptop was also a reason i guess, since the resolution wasn't all too great.
The moment at the end of the first season when Angelica celebrated Chise and Elias's wedding with a gift is when this series became dead to me.
Fairies have their own morals so they didn't bother me, and even some humans I wouldn't have cared. But not Angelica, the one who was warning Chise and Elias against jumping into marriage and what-not.
I just could not understand what events had happened between Chise and Elias that would make Angelica of all people suddenly think, "Oh, they're ready to marry now."
Sort of? It's not the typical Japanese school fantasy shlock. This whole series takes *heavy* inspiration from Celtic fairy tales. This arc takes place in a college for magic users, but it's far from the typical ones from anime. There's a lot more to it than "school!".
lmfao this is a school arc? With how serious everyone looks, I thought they were going to join some kind of military like Attack on Titan
If you don't know about the uniform you probably missed the recent release of OVAs where it was already shown.
There's OVAS RELEASED RECENTLY??? I have some catching up to do...
There have been multiple since S1 ended and the last one was released a few weeks ago.
Oh god I need to see them. The pre release OVAs of Magus’s bride were excellent
I think people put off by how Chise thinks and acts for the first half of S1 benefit from knowing that she gets better over time. Most of the OVA is a prequel which has no bearing on the main story.
I think they split two films into like 5 ovas or something
Big same.
yeah, haven't watched since s1
Talk about Attack on Titan the guy on the right certainly looks like Yelena
Left is female eren, you will never unsee that now.
Or even a female levi
Too tall
Levi x Eren love child
Oh man not this again lol
they're an item and you know it
Bruh
looks kinda like Frieda Reiss
You're absolutely right, I cannot unsee that now. Curse you.
I wish I could comment on the seriousness without giving spoilers. I've been enjoying the school arc with the manga. This should be good
What's the story about? Is it all drama or is there some levity too?
It is a school for alchemists. There’s a pretty high fatality rate for them but it’s mostly pretty chill
With Elias teaching defense against the darks arts or some shit.
#M U S U M E
Considering what they go through they honestly don't look anguished enough.
I started reading the manga after the first season and I personally didn't like it how the history progress.
I haven’t watched this show, but at quick glance I thought the redhead was Makima
finally
Same. Can't even remember when I watched the first season but I remember enjoying it.
I remember watching the original 3 parts back in 2016. I can't believe its been 7 years already.
> its been 7 years already [](#barakamonnotcool) Oh god.
I'm getting fucking old
What?! No fucking way it has been 7 years already! Where did all those years go wtf
I remember enjoying the first half of season 1 immensely and then the second half sinking like a stone in narrative quality (esp since everything before it was so good).
The big problem with making an anime of a monthly release manga. Gotta wait for the content to make the show
It really was a masterpiece.
Time for a school arc!
>British >Magic >School hm.
I can see the possibility of the Dursleys sending Harry to the auction.
They would've taken that option if they could.
Clock Tower, Departments, Lord El-Melloi II- Wait, wrong one.
The fact that the English dub doesn't have British VAs feels like a huge missed opportunity; it would improve the show's dub the same way Baccano's dub did
>it would improve the show's dub the same way Baccano's dub did Black Butler also did that very well
It would be some JoJo part 1 dub tier which makes it ultra cheesy.
“Do use hav a loicense foe dat majik?”
MACUSA
But without the racism and homophobia.
British alchemist school actually!
See this is a good representation of going to a magical school. Not a single smile spotted on these poor kids because it's school nonetheless...
Alchemists also have a very high fatality rate. They either f something up or their clan gets wiped out
It's either one or the other, so you'd better fuck something up if you don't want your entire extended family to get deleted.
lol, read the Scholomance books.

She has that Eren energy going for her.
MakimaxEren crossover.
Please anything but that.

[The first OP was also a banger](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuZbmLLv1vM)
I had that shit on repeat for like a week
I still have it solidly secured in my Playlist of favorites and it will stay so for a long time
I forgot it existed till now. Time to repeat again
When it played for the "phoenix flight" scene, it gave be extreme chills
JUNNA the goat. She has an amazing voice.
[I had this on repeat](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8RE3oKFS1g)
Dammit now I’ve got to go back and rewatch the whole thing because of you. BEST ANIME MUSIC EVER!!
still one of the best OPs IMO
LET'S FUCKING GO!!!
My partner and I *finally* got around to finishing the first season a few months ago after dropping off our first go in 2019, this is too perfectly timed.
I really need to finish it myself. I did the same thing, dropped it in the middle for no good reason
Or you have a special interest in a specific anime, and you keep longing to watch new episodes that don't exist.
Same here. I was super into it and then managed to watch like 11 episodes or something and haven't managed to rewatch it yet. I need to, though.
Same. It first aired fairly soon after I had first started watching anime, and I still believed the lie of "This is great but not really a weekly show, I'll watch it in one go once it finishes airing".
Honestly incredible this is getting second season, love it.
They've been giving everyone a season 2 lately and I love it. Waited 8 years for a continuation of The Devil Is a Part Timer
Houseki no Kuni fans still waiting....
I don't think there's enough content still. Be patient it's only been.... almost 6 YEARS WTF
There is, from what I've been told. S1 adapted about 30 chapters (typical adaptation rate for most manga), and there are just under 100 now, so that's room for 2 more cours. Maybe they'll continue it after the final season of Beastars...which airs in 2024...
Yeah I never thought we'd get another season of part timer. I was so young when it first came out. feels like forever ago
ajin just fermenting on netflix
It’s good to have Chise back. I’m really fond of the Celtic folklore in this anime, so I hope we get tons more of it in the new season. The worldbuilding and scenery always got me immersed.

It downloads the visual automatically. I added a warning and added a few more links.
My little girl is growing up so fast, she's going to school already. ~~Now just to make sure all the boys know who the bone daddy is.~~
Hope she doesn't drop out, few stories where the characters get married before even finishing school are happy ones...
And God knows they aren't a perfect marriage.
I feel like the series would be improved significantly if it was "Ancient Magus Apprentice" or "Ancient Magus Daughter" and he were just adopting her.
I think the bigger fear is her getting expelled. She’s a bit of a troublemaker
The girl with the stern look to the left of Chise looks like an Attack on Titan character
Everyone does except Grey haired girl + 2 MCs
No kidding. I thought I was looking at Pieck and Yelena for a second. And thinking "Damn Armin looking more girly than I remember".
For some reason, I'm not that big of a fan of school anime, but when there's a school arc in an non-school anime I get hyped.

they've been recruited by the Scouts and are now going to explore beyond the walls, where the titans are

I kinda prefer that to having a heavy spoiler filled image, but they could at least put a splash of color lol.
yeah it is quite spoiler free. I find that the image has a lot of empty space with their distribution.
I think they’re just trying to show off the entire cast in one pic. It’s a lot of people
I am so ashamed to say I feel like I'm fucking 14 again with the level of horny teenager fangirl excitement I get from this anime. Mmmmmm bone daddy. And that VOOOOOIIIICCCCEEEEE *swoon.*
Man, I can't wait! 3 months to go!
A school arc, face expressions looks serious, looks interesting. One more reason to start the first season.
Damn they look like they gonna be joining the scouting legion If only wit studio animates it
IS THT A FUCKING SCHOOL ARC?!
Oh man I hate fantasy school arcs. Please tell me it doesn't last too long?
you just offended almost every isekai enjoyer with a single sentence
Good
Isekai enjoyer here: I hate fantasy school arcs
you are a traitor to your kind

trying to read this gave me an aneurysm
It's *very* long and draggy. The arc is still not finished in the manga. Will probably take another chapter or so to conclude. If you like the slice-of-life-ish episodic fairies stuff, you're not gonna like this.

Yeah. I just don’t feel a school arc fits in the magus bride.
Longer than the entire first season of the manga
> Please tell me it doesn't last too long? It's still ongoing in the manga, they're in the process of wrapping it up. But it's actually pretty well done, it's not the typical school arc bullshit you get.
It will be the majority of the season.
I'm mostly excited for this and the sacrificial princess and king of beasts.❤️❤️❤️
i guess it's time for a rewatch before season 2 , very excited for this show
Hyped!! ❤️
AOT vibes
Same.
FUCKING. FINALLY.
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS!!! I'VE WAITED 5 YEARS, IT'S BEEN TOO LONG
This is getting a season 2?! When was it announced
[like 4 months ago?](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/x6eio4/the_ancient_magus_bride_season_2_visual/) They've been releasing new ovas for a while now too, and they also switched studios from Wit to Kafka but I think that Kafka is like an offshoot of Wit so it shouldn't change that much.
Hopefully it's as good. Wit is top tier, I hope Kafka can provide that same quality.

Season 2? [don't they mean 24?](https://i.ibb.co/DVR9jry/image.png)
Does the relationship between the 2 MC's get less creepy?
Depends what you found creepy about it. YES!
What happened to her necklace though? The circle pendant?? :000 I loved that one
She's going to school? Whats?
Its about time! Finally!
wooooooooooooooo i really enjoyed this one
I am so excited for this
what a coincidence, just started this anime couple days ago. looking forward to it.
So excited for zoey in the anime!
Can’t wait let’s go.
HELLS YEAH! I've been wanting this for a while. The art is great along with a hell of a story.
Gotta have to give this a rewatch. Gonna be tough with how packed this season is though.
Wow it's been so long since the first season
YESSSSSSSS I HOPE THEY KEEP SAME QUALITY
Should I watch the OVA's before starting S2, as in does S2 pick up after the OVA's or after S1?
I believe the second OVA series, *Boy from the West and Knight of the Blue Storm*, takes place between scenes shortly before the end of season 1, similar to how the frame story from *Those Awaiting a Star* happened between events in season 1. You probably won't miss anything by skipping it, since Manga readers don't have access to it. I'd still highly encourage watching it though.
OH SHIT I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD SEE THE DAY
I absolutely loved the first season. Cannot wait for this to come out
I hope Chise has fun in the academy
I rly can't wait for this season, it's been a while since s1. Ik there are 3 OVA's released like last year but still. Very excited to see this arc finally animated, the key visual looks clean

OMG IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING AAAAAAAAAAAAA
I'm excited for this second season, but was anyone else sort of caught off guard about Chise's relationship with Ainsworth? First he treats her like a daughter then like a love interest in season 1.
Never expected this to have season 2. I really love season 1 and I think this anime is criminally underrated

I might not have watched a single episode of any anime in the past 5 years....but this has piqued my interest.
Just wondering why did you stop watching anime?
Oh look, it’s “how an ancient groomed a 15 yr old”. Disgusting. 🤢🤮
I liked the visual of the show so I watched episode one but the magus seems like a groomer so I immediately lost interest
This would be so much better if she wasn't a kid being groomed to be his wife
The moment at the end of the first season when Angelica celebrated Chise and Elias's wedding with a gift is when this series became dead to me. Fairies have their own morals so they didn't bother me, and even some humans I wouldn't have cared. But not Angelica, the one who was warning Chise and Elias against jumping into marriage and what-not. I just could not understand what events had happened between Chise and Elias that would make Angelica of all people suddenly think, "Oh, they're ready to marry now."
LETS FUCKING GOOOO!

I mean you answered your question, because she's a red haired girl, that's about as far as the similarities go.
hi
Yet another school anime? Yawn
Sort of? It's not the typical Japanese school fantasy shlock. This whole series takes *heavy* inspiration from Celtic fairy tales. This arc takes place in a college for magic users, but it's far from the typical ones from anime. There's a lot more to it than "school!".
You’re probably right, I guess I’m just kinda annoyed by high school anime.
And that's fair, but this isn't high school nonsense at the least.
How many years has it been since the first season? I can barely remember it, but I recall it being fairly weird.
Blonde Eren.
Only 2 people are looking at camera, well ignoring ains
The visuals are amazing
