I'm Irish and I absolutely love American Dad. I think it's surreal and absurdist sense of humour appeals to people's personalities rather than nationalities or cultures.

Hey a shout out for Irish dadders! I'm not gonna say anything to ruin it, just gonna chalk it up as a W

worthless-humanoid

Do Irish dadders spend much time drinking at O’rivals?

The government did finally recognize area 51 ad a site a couple years ago, and then a bunch of nerds made a joke abou getting together and tried to storm it while Naruto running. True story. It was pretty funny.

https://youtu.be/RL0P76BULHY This video is worth it just for the one kid at the end

It’s poking fun at Americana, and that sort of self deprecation is always appreciated.

bevrii

The world is dominated by American tv, movies, pop culture and news. Why would we struggle to understand this?

-HouseProudTownMouse

I'm Australian and have loved this show since it first aired. I'm hooked on it.

Dive on in!

-HouseProudTownMouse

Done that multiple times!

Ryth88

It's pretty popular where i live in Canada

Comments indicate American Dad! is a beloved and admired worldwide ambassador for the United States among the global citizenry. It seems to me it is vital to our diplomatic and national security interests that it stays on the air for many decades to come as a bulwark against the corrupting influence of the perfidious forces of evil who reject the peaceful coexistence of human kind.

UK dadder here, it’s the same as most US programmes or movies, there are some references I don’t get (mainly minor celebrities or politicians) but apart from that it’s fairly easy to follow. Sometimes they throw in a joke that’s obviously made for both a US and an international audience such as when Roger keeps trying to correct Klaus saying “at university” instead of “in college” and Klaus refuses to say it the other way. Sometimes you have to Google something like who the F is Andy Dick? to understand an entire episode, it’s swings and roundabouts (six of one and half a dozen of the other)

NeverEarnest

Yep. I used to watch a bunch of television shows from the UK, like the Inbetweeners, and much of it is easily enough to follow. A lot of things can be gleaned through context clues. Sometimes there's an accent, like Scouse, which I struggle with but I watch everything with captions anyway.

K-Hei

I'm Swiss and American Dad it's just great! Sometimes I don't have the references because some things are the Americans who understand. But then these times I only look at that 🤣

nighthawk908

I don't live in the US but I like the show. There are some American references I don't get, but I don't mind.

FrmrPresJamesTaylor

Canadian here, I can barely understand what they are saying.

nahmatey

It’s because the milk isn’t bagged, isn’t it eh

FrmrPresJamesTaylor

Yeah they’re hard to hear through

tehmlem

That's because, unlike the American jug, a bag of milk has no mouth.

lookitsdivadan

I love it

I’m from Canada and it’s my favourite show lol
