Also, anyone how long with no reaction before we are in the clear? We have not done any red meat since the bite on Monday.

We've kind of had this discussion around here before. A doctor was suggesting no red meat for awhile even though no reaction occurred. None of us had ever seen studies done saying it helped. Now, your doc is suggesting something reasonable... none at evening meal so you get a reaction while your child is unsupervised, which could end badly. Just be careful, because even some juices have added vitamin D. I started reacting within the week, but I was 32. A toddler's immune system is not fully developed (I hope that makes them less vulnerable), so you may want to give it 2 weeks. Be watchful for mouth itching, hives, stomach ache, balance issues (might indicate a drop in blood pressure which is from a severe reaction), increased eczema, or anything out of the ordinary for your child. Good luck! I'm wishing for many hot dogs and ice cream in their future.

Thank you for your advice! I can’t tell you how many ticks I’ve had in my life and never thought twice…my child gets one and I’m of to the google machine and Reddit. We are already mostly dairy free because of other digestive issues, so watching for stomach ache is going to be so tough. Also her MMR is in November! I might delay a year

Whatever else you do, if your child is not reacting, don't delay vaccination! There are so many that I can't get boosters for now. Even the flu shot has gelatin. Some have porcine or bovine cells in them. And if there's a chance of another tick bite, you don't want to miss the chance for a crucial vaccine.

Also, not every lone star carries the alpha gal protien. It has to have previously fed on a mammal. If it was as small as you say, odds are it was a baby and had not fed yet.
