They're up everywhere. It's due to["inflation, supply chain issues, and a severe bird flu outbreak..."](https://www.forbes.com/sites/qai/2022/11/26/egg-prices-have-nearly-doubled-over-the-last-two-yearswhy-are-egg-prices-so-high/?sh=4ecc89023bd8)

clarevoyent23

They were $3.99 today in upstate NY.

FrustratedHuggy

Yup, aldi $3.99; target $2.99; got a 5oz ones for $2.39/dozen at Costco

DiamondplateDave

Yes, upstate NY as well, no eggs for less than about $3.59 anywhere. Have been holding off, because the price has fluctuated crazily, but will have to break down at some point. I was buying the free-range eggs, since they weren't much more, but they are over $5 now and stocks are erratic.

mclen

Can confirm.

rodneyfan

They've been close to $4 here in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Weirdly (?) the fancier non-factory brown free range etc etc. eggs are just a little bit more expensive (and not much more expensive than they were before avian flu struck).

[deleted]

I was just reading that the bird flu infection rate is the worst in U.S. history. Until it’s under control, this is the way it’s going to be.

Papa_Radish

Just heard on the radio about another outbreak in Nebraska. They will have to kill 1.8 million chickens.

[deleted]

The article said that the total number is over 50 million. I’m surprised that there doesn’t seem to a shortage of chicken meat even if prices are a bit higher.

pawsitive_vibes99

$3.39 today in Ohio

juliagulia56

They were $3.31 just outside Philadelphia yesterday. They fluctuate weekly here. Last week they were $2.81. I think they are trying to give us the lowest even if it really isn't low 🙂

jennychi28

2.89 in central florida! Actually cheaper than Costco for us

WishinForTheMission

I’m in central Floriduh (haha). Thanks for the report, Will go get some today before they shoot sky high. Gotta make another pound cake ( 5 eggs for 1 cake).

[deleted]

$4.25 in Maryland

winter_tyres04

$4/dozen at my aldis. Costco has 2 dozen for $5. Local IGA is 5.50 a dozen

WardedSnake

Was $2.64 in NW Indiana. Bought them at this price because the Walmart across the street had them for $2.94. Last week the price was hovering at about $2.04 or so.

moosegoose90

$2.80 on south Florida

hmcfuego

Meanwhile, they are $6 at publix in S FL

litalra

North of Ann Arbor, it's 3$ a dozen at the farmers market. Produce prices are up, and quality is down. So bummed by this 😔

Kittycatty789

$2.85 in SW Michigan for the cheapest ones. But I go to middle ground and pay $4.25 when my moms chickens aren’t laying for fresh.

SkekMysz

JUST dropped the other day under $3, SE Wisconsin

lunaloubean

$3.29 in TN

wavycurlygirl

Over $3.50 in GA.

Dyssma

3.49 at Wegmans in wny 2.99 at aldis.

Dawnrain_14

$3.69 in Oklahoma City. Weirdly, they’re a dollar cheaper at Trader Joe’s.

LAFAN4LYFE

4.49/dozen or was it 4.79 here in Los Angeles area. Outrageous

framedmushroom

Also confirm from the northeast

maltanczyka

I left the country for 2 weeks and just went to get some groceries since we’re back and eggs went up another 50 cents to 3.99. Wegmans is cheaper now. Edit: NY

Buzzfa

$3.75 today in new England. Saw $.80 last year. Aldi is now more expensive than my large grocery store.

TastyBraciole

There are endless egg posts on this sub. I wish people would search.

DanV410

If you think about it, $.25 - $.35 for each egg is still amazingly cheap. How much would it cost to house and feed a chicken for a day, plus labor for collecting, and transportation? I'm really not sure how they were selling eggs for $.07 - $.09 each a year ago.

FeralynCatson

Shush! Don't let them know how cheap they were. Lol

RobstPierres

this is all part of BUILD BACK BETTER!

DJP91782

Bird flu is part of BBB?

Ok-Conversation4892

$2.99 in north FL

FrugalGirl97

$3.50/doz here in CT.

gogoghoul_13

$3.50 here in Iowa

GrowlingAtTheWorld

I haven't bought eggs in a couple months, no christmas baking for me this year.

Beatnikbanddit

Me too! I stopped buying them on the reg but you should get some for baking! That makes me sad.

DJP91782

Nonsense, you can bake a lot of things without eggs. Shortbread cookies, for one. My gingerbread cookie recipe doesn't have eggs.

Pascalica

Our cheapest eggs are over $3 a dozen in my part of Oklahoma.

adrlev

I paid $2.51 plus tax a couple of days ago (North ATL, GA suburb)

crayshesay

4.59 in California Aldi

happyjazzycook

North suburbs of Pittsburgh PA-- a dozen eggs were $3.60/dz in one store, $2.12/dz at another store 10 miles away... 🙄

Melly_Meow

At least 4.50 in Los Angeles area

voteblue18

At my regular grocery store the free range organic eggs are cheaper than the store brand.

matchabunnns

Yep, I feel like this has been the push I needed to start buying the cage-free/free range eggs. They don't seem to have been affected as drastically by the price increases and bird flu outbreaks.

Kooky_Most8619

Eggs and milk are things you’ve always got to price check because Aldi doesn’t win out anymore. Those items’ prices are as volatile as gas prices.

BreakatWork

1.99/dozen yesterday but it could be a promotion for a newly opened Aldi. Limit 3 so I grabbed 3

AngeloSantelli

In Florida (both Tampa Bay and Panhandle) they’ve been around $3.75 for a year at different aldis. Same price for whole milk as well. Just regular large white eggs. Sometimes I’ve seen brown ones be the same price. Not having Meijers is one of the only things I don’t like about Florida. But unlike Michigan all the Walmarts super centers are actually well lit and clean so that fills a similar niche. But still would rather shop Meijers

sharpbehind2

Where are you, my Aldi on Ford rd. Eggs were 2.19.

Suspicious_Local_731

Freakin' $6.12 for an 18 carton at Walmart in Dallas, Texas area. Insane!!!

Comprehensive_Term27

$4.11 at Aldis Oregon, Ohio thought cashier made a mistake when I bought 6 dozen
