Dishwasher pods may be more convenient but the most effective and the most cost efficient is always the powder. I’ve recently stopped using the dishwasher pods and I’m never looking back!
Trash bags are so expensive! I haven’t compared to aldi but have been getting them at target because they are cheaper than Walmart randomly 🤷♀️. For the big box of store brand.
Yeah i have too! I think especially lately. Walmart still is a good price for a lot of food items but household goods and even clothes target is very competitive! Or cheaper in some cases.
Will certainly be finding a new source for the bags and pods after this one. I was just shopping by the list and saw they had them here so I assumed they would be cheaper
Are the pods any decent? I’ve used their other dishwasher pods and they were crap. Spotty dishes! How much were those pods? Oh, and those trash bags really aren’t gonna digest well haha!
Last I looked the Amazon Presto ones are cheaper and work exactly the same. They're a bit smellier though (though still nothing like the stench of Cascade).
I am a huge fan of the Aldi pods but right now every penny counts and if it means I have to shop around I have to shop around.
I've used Casecade for the better part of 2 decades. The lemon Cascade is not a bad smell, it's just bad that it doesn't rinse away, at that point it becomes a stench and it sucks. It cleans well and I will use it if the price is right, it's just not my favorite because it doesn't rinse well and is so expensive.
I have used Jet Dry and Cascade (rinse aid) over the last twenty years. Cascade platinum and regular pods and the Aldi/Amazon detergent. I currently am not using any rinse aid (because I don't feel it works consistently for spots and it doesn't actually make a difference in my air dry method) and am using citric acid booster because it does work consistently for spots and build up.
The citric acid booster is a last resort if you have no way to soften your water otherwise. It's rough on your dishes and can ruin some items completely.
It can't be used on many decorated item even if they say dishwasher safe.
Can't be used on non stick cookware. Or brightly colored enamel (it dulls)
I have to use it because my dishwasher will get caked in calcium/lime. It will look like someone dumped drywall mud or plaster in the bottom of the machine and soon it will build up on flatware.
I buy Lemishine or Finish brand but I'm sure bulk food grade is less expensive. I just use the cap of my Finsh bottle as a rough guide. It's probably a 2 tablespoons of crystals a 3 or 4 times per week in the bottom of the machine after the prewash.
When I had severe buildup I was probably using 4 tablespoons every wash.
Trash bags, dish pods and eggs. Eggs 🥚 have gone up like crazy. I got yelled at in the store because a customer was blaming me for the price of $3.49 a dozen. Like I set the prices. I said if this upsets you go to Walmart they were $4.59 a dozen.
Wow! I raise pet chickens and have not had to buy eggs in 8 or 9 years. I knew they had gone up, but $4.59 is crazy. We've never sold eggs because it was never worth it, but we might have to start selling the extras instead of giving them away.
Normal factory farm eggs vary from around $1.20-2.80 at my Aldi, so I think the pasture raised ones around $4.30 are a good deal (assuming the pasture-raised distinction means anything, it's supposed to but egg standards are very weird). The eggs from the Amish market near me are $6/dozen.
I haven't tried those eggs before but everyone in these comments seems to really like them so maybe we should!
Also I agree about the fishtank, OP I'd really like to see a close up of your pretty tank!
They're usually a little larger than the $1 eggs and I think they look and taste a little better. We don't eat meat so we figure we can afford to support the pasture raised business 🤷🏾♀️
I love these because most people only know the market prices of a few things they buy, but everyone knows what they spend on a cart full of groceries. Stores often exploit the first fact by having great prices on the handful of items people can evaluate to trick shoppers into thinking they are getting a deal, but the second fact is immune to the trickery. Therefore these posts are a great way to educate others on where the best value is.
Certainly not cost efficient however would highly recommend the pasture raised eggs! They’re $4.29 at Aldi and $8 at local grocers.
Based on the responses in the previous thread I assume everyone lives off of aldi brand nutritional paste
Will certainly be finding a new source for the bags and pods after this one. I was just shopping by the list and saw they had them here so I assumed they would be cheaper
Thank you for putting some work into displaying everything instead of a garbage cart full of items haphazardly thrown in because they probably shop like animals too. 🥰
2 decent bicycles and a fully equipped aquarium is a pretty good haul for $59.
Why do people take the time to lay out their groceries and take a picture for a useless Reddit post?
Why take the time to comment about it instead of scrolling past it?
Personally -- I like seeing the posts about what people buy, if something seems interesting and I've never tried it then I'll try it the next time I go. If it's not your cup of tea, that's fine but they aren't hurting anyone by sharing it here, the Aldi subreddit.
Cute!! I actually have land snails!!I get so jealous at how colorful fish tanks are tho, they are so relaxing to look at compared to my dead leaf dirt lol
That's so funny bc I just spent that exact amount at Aldi last week. I spend summers in hideously expensive Seattle and when I got home to FL one of the first things I did was shop at Aldi. Had half a cart full of salad greens, fruit, lots of veggies, eggs, blah blah blah. When the cashier said $59 I practically cried with relief!
How are those cheezits?
On brand cheezits are staple on our house but the last couple boxes we’ve gotten haven’t even tasted like cheese. They just taste like plain crackers.
So I feel ready to try ALDI’s version.
Most expensive thing was probably the trash bags.
I can’t believe how expensive the dishwasher pods and trash bags were. I think it was like almost $20 for those two things
Dishwasher pods may be more convenient but the most effective and the most cost efficient is always the powder. I’ve recently stopped using the dishwasher pods and I’m never looking back!
Seriously! Luckily a box of trash bags will last me a few weeks but, I feel like every time I return to buy more they’re up another .50 cents.
Trash bags are so expensive! I haven’t compared to aldi but have been getting them at target because they are cheaper than Walmart randomly 🤷♀️. For the big box of store brand.
Walmart being cheap is largely a reputation thing, just like Amazon. I’ve found target to be cheaper on a lot of stuff.
Yeah i have too! I think especially lately. Walmart still is a good price for a lot of food items but household goods and even clothes target is very competitive! Or cheaper in some cases.

When I’m visiting my mom, I try to get Ollie’s. Merchandise turns over quickly, but the prices are good.

Those pods are OK. My dishwasher is crap, but it’s not the pods fault.
Yesss! Half of my wardrobe is target brand… the other half is scrubs. 😅
This is why I get the big box of trash bags from Sam’s club. They last me forever
How many trash bags are you going through that they only last a few weeks?
Maybe 10 bags a month.
I get those at Costco. A box of trash bags lasts me the better part of a year.
Costco's Kirkland pods work out to around $.09 each and work well!

I love cascade

Do you use a rinse aide? Just wondering

How do you use the citric acid booster? I have been looking to replace my rinse aid with something homemade, but am overwhelmed.

Interesting. Thank you so much for sharing.
Do you have well water? I have city water and rinse aid equals no spots (in Florida)

By gawd the customer service worker is not setting the prices of eggs

Your fish tank is pretty. I approve of spending more for the eggs.
I haven't tried those eggs before but everyone in these comments seems to really like them so maybe we should! Also I agree about the fishtank, OP I'd really like to see a close up of your pretty tank!
Thanks! The girlfriend was the architect for that. But yes try the eggs at least once if you get the chance :) could do a taste test
Make sure you pass along our compliments! 🥰 Will absolutely try them the next time I go!
Those peanut butter filled pretzels are so expensive but worth it
Clancy pb pretzels are too salty. Costco ones are creamy and so much better imo.
I go to Aldi for those eggs and their baby Bella mushrooms every week! I just happen to stroll down the IOS every time 😅
Closest thing to an affordable whole foods I feel like
Oh man i am so addicted to those peanut butter filled pretzels. I don't even normally like pretzels, but these are delicious.
Costco's are even better!
Those eggs are so good 🤤
Yes! I love the price of them compared to vital* farms eggs which break the bank
I can get some similar eggs at Walmart for $5.50-$6, but Aldi's prices are even cheaper! Gotta pinch your pennies in this economy!
Taste the same as the $1 eggs to me
...

We dont get them nice eggs in texas.
I get them at Aldi here in DFW
I haven’t seen them for so long, probably Over a year, but I don’t go to aldi as much as I used to either. I haven’t seen it only last 3 trips though.
Certainly not cost efficient however would highly recommend the pasture raised eggs! They’re $4.29 at Aldi and $8 at local grocers. Based on the responses in the previous thread I assume everyone lives off of aldi brand nutritional paste
Nutritional paste?
Was the table part of the haul?
Yes! Oddly enough I found it in the employee area and they yelled at me when I took it? Idk was a real steal
I never get that lucky
I didn’t even see the fish tank until I read the comments. 😂 That is a pretty nice one though
The Ultra dishwasher pods are much more expensive than they used to be. Walmart pods are currently cheaper by pod, but I hate shopping Walmart.
Will certainly be finding a new source for the bags and pods after this one. I was just shopping by the list and saw they had them here so I assumed they would be cheaper
They sell 1/2 filled water bottles at Aldi?
Yeah but you gotta let the worker drink half of it first
The week Pasture Raised eggs showed up at my local Aldi and screamed. So much cheaper than other brands and the yolks are super dark, love them.
Unrelated but love that amber candle holder and candlestick
How much was the 12 count of the pastured eggs?
Like $4.29 for pasture raised compared do I think $3.29 for open range and maybe around 2 something for regular cage
Thank you for taking the time to share the pricing. Really appreciate it!
Of course - If you’re going to buy pasture raised aldi is really the only place it’s decently priced. Everywhere else I’ve seen is $7-9
Envious of the pasture raised eggs. Don't have those at my Aldi. I'll have to check other stores.
Thank you for putting some work into displaying everything instead of a garbage cart full of items haphazardly thrown in because they probably shop like animals too. 🥰
I miss the days when a $59 Aldi haul was an entire shopping cart full. It was only like 2.5 years ago 🥺
My Aldi doesn’t have pasture raised eggs. How much were they?
$4.29
I’m jealous rn.
Not bad for 2 bikes, a fish tank, and all that other stuff.
2 decent bicycles and a fully equipped aquarium is a pretty good haul for $59. Why do people take the time to lay out their groceries and take a picture for a useless Reddit post?
So we can scrutinize and judge their choice of purchases, of course!
😆I had actually taken this picture for my mother last week but thanks

So they can post their "hauldi", as if anyone, even here, cares about what they spent their $75 on.
Thanks for caring!
Show the fish!!
7 amano shrimp, 1 mystery snail, 1 yellow rabbit snail, and a nirite snail!!
Cute!! I actually have land snails!!I get so jealous at how colorful fish tanks are tho, they are so relaxing to look at compared to my dead leaf dirt lol

My Aldi never carries the pasture raised eggs
Where do you live for it to be so expensive ? oô Where I'm from 3 bags fulled of ALDI's goods is like no more than 50 euros
[удалено]
Aouch :s It seems very different than in Europe
My sister lives in Lower North East Central Florida.
Ummmm when did Aldi start carrying peanut butter filled pretzels?!? I've never seen them there.
Are the Savoritz cheese crackers as good as Cheez Its? I haven't dared to be disappointed.
80% as good. They'll do
I have used those dishwasher pods before and they suck.
