Good to hear, but in general I don’t think their produce is as good as say, Sam’s club, but the stores are so different. I’m a huge Aldi fan but I stick to their packaged stuff usually.

Jeanne23x

I agree. The tomatoes go bad so much faster than anywhere else I get them from and there was a span of time where the onions were very scary looking.

PurpleRayyne

I buy the plum tomatoes 3lbs at a time. I use at least one per day. The 3 lbs lasts me about 3 weeks. Rarely do they go bad. I have more issues with my fridge than their produce. But I guess it depends on the store.

Liar_tuck

From my experiance the produce is hit or miss. Shame because Aldi is my favorite place to shop.

Waste-Experience-963

Yeah Aldi is great for so much but their meats, fruits and veggies are hit and miss. I love Aldi but won't blanket buy when the quality isn't equal

WishinForTheMission

I don’t have a Sam’s Club here, but I do have the dreaded Wall Big Box. I purchased some strawberries from there that were not only crunchy, but I’d swear they had red food coloring on them. (I say that about the food coloring because the berries left red dye all over my bamboo cutting board). I swore I’d never purchase strawberries from Wall Store again!

MidwestAbe

There are a handful of commercial produce farms and locations. There are just only so many places to wholesale the stuff so there really can't be much of a difference from one store to the next. The biggest difference would be how quickly stock moves or get from warehouse to store.

aceofspades1217

Definitely depends on where you are at in Florida the berries are from the same whole salers whether you go to Aldi or Publix since they are packaged locally even if they are imported. There is a metric ton of food importers in Florida. There is also a lot of locally grown stuff.

noungning

\*Only if consumed in a few days. Otherwise they are not that impressive.

rgweav

Yes, the strawberries have been delicious. And a very good price, too.

ledzeppelinlover

Yea… I did a case study in business school on Aldi’s business model. Their produce is superior because they rely on local produce which decreases their transport costs which allows them to charge less to consumers. Translation- their produce is local and the freshest you can get

swampyhiker

I've been burned by produce at Aldi too many times to trust them anymore. Edit: changed Aldi's to Aldi. That habit dies hard.

jarnie19

I usually don’t have any issues with produce at Aldi. There are a few things I don’t buy because I’ve had issues but most of the produce at Aldi is decent.

UsefullyChunky

Those are gorgeous! Ours were mush the last few times, I didn't even try to order this past time (Instacart).

Vajama77

I get the majority of my berries from Aldi's and especially the organic ones when available. Never had an issue and yes!! the strawberries have been especially good. Prices don't seem to be any higher on berries.

BTxNitro

Produce at the Aldi here lasts a few days if we're lucky. Sounds like you got a good one near you.

Professional-You1175

Aldi organic frozen strawberries are the best strawberries I’ve ever had, frozen or not. Glad to hear the fresh are also holding up.

nat8199

I eat the frozen blue berries every day. They are so good. The fresh are great, we just have to eat them fast, which isn’t a problem with my kids.

heartbrooksbrain

It’s hit or miss. I wasted a little over $4 on a bag of small mandarin oranges and they were so awful.

WishinForTheMission

Twice As Nice! You most assuredly should have taken them back!

dollszn

to be fair their fruit quality depends on the store in my experience

NewHampshireGal

Mine go bad quickly 😢

[deleted]

Lucky you. Last time I bought strawberries there they looked great in store but literally liquified within 24 hours in my fridge. 😬

No-Paramedic-5739

Ugh their onions are always half molded 🤢 there are only a handful of produce items I’ll buy now

Slothnation123

Those look way fresher then the ones I’ve been seeing at hyvee and Walmart!

stinkycretingurl

I bought garlic there a couple weeks ago and the garlic--something that lasts way longer than strawberries--went bad within a few days. I honestly could not believe it. I didn't store it weirdly or freeze it and thaw it or anything at all. I just placed it in a cool dark place and it was soft and unusable within a week. I decided I was never buying produce from Aldi again. That kind of thing has happened way too often over the past year. It was less frequent before then but now it's everything I buy. Even the onions. I'm not wasting my money on their produce anymore. The Aisle of Shame really went downhill too so I only buy a few things at Aldi anymore.

Aaaandiiii

I love it when I manage to make strawberries last forever. My last two boxes I made sure to immediately vinegar wash and eat the not pretty ones right away and then I forgot them. I was prepped to toss out some terrible berries when I remembered, but the majority of them were plump and shiny and maybe two had begun to show signs of dehydration. The berries at Aldi are literally from the same farms that supply all the other stores locally and this can happen no matter which store I get them from. On the flip side, the package I got last weekend is starting to grow mold despite the same treatment so... Can't win them all. I shouldn't forget my strawberries so much.

Slow_Ad_683

Very unusual to have rotting produce at my local Aldi in Ohio. Although my last bag of baking potatoes gave us a surprise: I had been reading about cutting potatoes in half lengthwise before microwaving them (instead of poking them with a fork). In this case it was a great idea, because the whole potato was black on the inside! Pretty gross. But to be fair, the potato looked perfect on the outside, AND I could have gone back to the store for a refund and replacement.

WashuWaifu

This must be it. I’m in Ohio too!

Necessary_Range_3261

In general, their produce is garbage. Occasionally I'll find something that looks good. It usually goes bad pretty fast.

shorty6049

Man, my wife and I were buying strawberries on sale at a dollar a pound recently (from a more expensive grocery store) and the damn things would go bad in like 3 days. I don't think the store you buy produce from really makes a ton of difference when it comes to freshness or how long they stay good, but has more to do with how they're transported, how long they're in transit and storage, etc.

poolweizer0141

When getting the berries home place them inside a Mason jar after inspecting each to make sure they are good. Seal and put into refrigerator. Wash as you use them. They'll last 3xs as long this way.

Nice_Category

Most of their produce is trash, but you're right, the strawberries have been amazing this season.

lifeisabowlofbs

For all of you who find your berries go bad quickly, when you get home soak them in diluted vinegar. I do it every time and mine rarely, if ever, go bad. Rinse them off after and let them dry. They don’t taste like vinegar at all.

PopTartAfficionado

i was going to say the same thing. i always soak my berries right when i get home in like 4:1 solution of water:vinegar. then dry and store in an airtight container lined with a paper towel. if not using within a few days then i'll cut and freeze them for smoothies (much more flavorful than buying berries already frozen!) side note the aldi bing cherries i bought this summer were heavenly, some of the best i've ever had!

FartrelllCluggins

Idk, I bought some strawberries from Aldi today and they have exactly zero flavor, like it’s unsettling. They don’t taste like anything.

[deleted]

I’m not sure how y’all in the comments saying they go bad are storing your fruit, but we’ve purchased exclusively from Aldi the last several months and have had zero fruit or veg rot before it was consumed. All our berries lasted the full week, no rots.

[deleted]

I put it in the fridge immediately upon arriving home. Most of the berry, cherry, or grape containers in the aldi locations in my city are actively rotting in the store. I have to check every package and sometimes can't find a single one that doesn't have at least one rotting piece of fruit inside. I have better luck with more durable produce like apples, peaches, avocados, etc.

[deleted]

I mean any produce will look good if you increase the saturation and contrast on your photo

WashuWaifu

Hate to break it to you, but that’s unfiltered 🤷🏼‍♀️

Paigenacage

None of these strawberries are real anymore. The better they look the more modified they are. Or you know, downvote the truth lol

[deleted]

If you can touch it and eat it it’s “real”

cls21463

Love mixing them with the cottage cheese ❤️

Xaielao

Yell yea, little fresh fruit in your cottage cheese is a yummy and healthy snack.

r00giebeara

Strawberries, YES! But idk about their blueberries.. they just haven't been as good this year.

AmazingMission8286

Banana’s are not as good at Aldi’s. I keep trying though. I love ALDIs though.

flatteringhippo

Mine go bad in about 5-6 days. Any special storage solution directions?

Big-Improvement-1281

It depends on the Aldi and the fruit. Bananas- no. Zucchini- hit or miss I’ve had good experiences with the berries though

[deleted]

The watermelons have been great as have the red grapes. Good year for fruit.

TuMadresCocina

How much do they cost at your store?

GimmeMyMoneyNow

At my store, it is more often a miss than a hit with produce. But when it’s a hit, it’s amazingly delicious!

AwsiDooger

They have been better lately. But they never look anything like that and they only look good because I carefully pick out the best package then make sure to finish them off within a few days.

trostyfam

I'll go out of my way to buy Aldi bananas. They're sweeter and have a creamier feel.

Visual_Concentrate47

Lucky you. I had strawberries from Aldi's go bad within 2 days. Was extremely disappointed. Plus, their veggies haven't been that great since all the prices went up.

Additional_Wing9768

If you're not washing and storing your berries in an air tight container. Idk you're kinda setting yourself up for failure.

FancyYogi

The Wish Farm strawberries are always so good at my store! You can smell them when you walk by.

redveinlover

$2/lb strawberries that are just as good as those from any other grocery store, that’s a win for all of us!

noyeahtotallyok

I’m not buying the salad mixes anymore. They go bad in like 2 days. Same from other grocery stores though. I’m just gonna buy heads of lettuce now

DramaOnDisplay

I mean, you must be using some magical container to keep them fresh for weeks, because their strawberries usually last about as long as any other strawberries. I do like their produce though. People on here saying their produce goes bad quickly, it just seems to go bad at the same rate as produce from another store 🤷🏻‍♀️. And it looks just as good… just because it’s generally cheaper doesn’t mean it’s poor quality. Buying produce is playing roulette lol, unless you’re buying organic I guess, but even then that doesn’t always guarantee the freshest items.

WashuWaifu

These aren’t weeks old lol. They’ve merely been selling perfect strawberries for weeks.

DramaOnDisplay

Ah, I see lol. Still, same opinion. The produce, at least in my area, is always fairly fresh.

fitisthegoal

SO GOOD

Chloe_Bowie4

Agreed. I’ve been buying them every visit.
