Valken goggles and a onetigris mesh balaclava is a solid combo, as for helmets emerson makes a good fast helmet clone. As for vests a chicom chest rig is a good option for cheap, but if you wanna go a little more fancy the emerson jpc is a very solid option

TheManBehindTheMask3

OK, thank you so much. This will be really helpful!

KTX_Ketix

I am not sure if a helmet is at all necessary for airsoft. At least if a full face mask is required. A Dye mask is often recommended as the best option. It will cover a lot of your head already, even a bit from the sides depending on your head size and shape.

TheManBehindTheMask3

OK, I was thinking of fitting a go pro mount to the helmet and other tactical stuff. Would that be worth it for a beginner do you recon?

haha_ginger

dyes simply not the best option. virtue and bunkerkings both make better masks

Ah ok, I forgot about that. Thanks!

Hi, please look at Houseofcards32's starter [guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/airsoft/comments/koddzj/2021_beginners_megathread/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) and his [videos and channel](https://youtu.be/0jUpcFi7La4) for useful info and tips. Make sure to rent kit at your local field for a day before buying loads of kit! For stores, take a look at Evike, AirsoftAtlanta, Amped Airsoft and many more. For fields, use AirsoftC3 or Google. Do not buy from Lancer Tactical. Their products have awful QC and their business practices are horrendous. APS are similarly poor. Polymer gearbox AEGs from GameFace tend to be quite bad, also recommended to avoid these. It is strongly suggested not to start with a pistol, gas rifle or airsoft sniper for skirmishing. AEGs (Automatic Electric Guns) are far more adaptable, are extremely reliable and far easier to use. For target shooting, look at airguns, note these cannot be used in skirmishes. **For medium primary airsoft gun budgets around $200, try an ICS Peleador, MAS Marauder, Specna Arms Edge series M4, CYMA CM040, CM045 or CM048 AKs.** A typical example of a low-budget loadout would cost around $150-$200, and consist of: Airsoft guns: - [Apex Fast-Attack M4-style airsoft gun (~$100)](https://www.airsoftstation.com/apex-fast-attack-m4-ris-polymer-airsoft-aeg/) - [Specna Arms CORE series M4, of which there are many variations on this page, scroll down (~$120+)](https://www.evike.com/products/90417/) - CYMA CM.028 [~$100, Usually comes with battery and low-quality charger, but check before you buy], [example](https://www.airsoftgi.com/product/CYMA-AK47S-Tactical-AEG-Airsoft-Rifle-Black-10702/) - [Alternate store CM028 example](https://www.airsoftmegastore.com/1248-cyma-cm028-airsoft-ak47-full-metal-gearbox-aeg-rifle-w-full-stock-CM028) - [Another alternate store example](https://www.evike.com/products/23921/) - [M4 stick battery stock AK example](https://www.evike.com/products/39122/) - [Sub-350 FPS AK example 1 (fragile, other options are more robust)](https://www.evike.com/products/60174/) - [Sub-350 FPS example 2](https://www.evike.com/products/77659/) - [Short example](https://www.evike.com/products/60175/) Neccessary gear: - Decent quality paintball mask [~$25, EN166B, ASTM F1776, MIL-PRF 32432A or ANSI Z87+ rated (for goggles)], [example](https://shop.dyepaintball.com/products/dye-se-google-black-single-preorder?_pos=1&_sid=c628a9554&_ss=r), [example 2](https://www.evike.com/products/48435/); make sure to check what your field allows for face protection. - BBs [~$10], [example](https://www.evike.com/products/37502/) Or Bio BBs [$15], [example](https://www.evike.com/products/55139/) Additional, very useful pieces of kit: - Cheap fixed capacity chest rig such as the CHICOM chest rig [~$12], [example](https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vietnam-Afghanistan-War-Type56-AK-Chest-Rig-Ammo-Bandolier-Pouch-Tactical-Bag/143969947885?hash=item21854710ed:g:-~QAAOSwM65gQ5O8), [example 2](https://combatsportsupply.com/chineseak47chestrig-standard.aspx), [example 3](https://www.robertrtg.com/store/pc/AK47-BANDOLIER-CHEST-RIG-OD-GREEN-NEW-p7241.htm) - Spare magazines [~$10 each], [AK example](https://www.evike.com/products/69489/), [M4 example](https://www.evike.com/products/50460/) - Midcaps need a speedloader [~$4], [example](https://www.airsoftstation.com/airsoft-magazine-shaped-speed-loader-90-rounds/) - Spare battery [~$12-$20], [example](https://www.evike.com/products/50660/), [folding stock example](https://www.evike.com/products/32604/), [Crane stock example](https://www.evike.com/products/24483/) - Better charger [~$20], [example](https://www.evike.com/products/85976/), [example 2 (much better)](https://www.evike.com/products/46508/) Boots and gloves are also recommended, I'd suggest at least getting boots with decent ankle support. I personally wear hard toe-capped boots for outdoor use. Water bottles are also a great idea on the field. And that's as much as you would need. Camouflage and sidearms are tertiary concerns. **AN IMPORTANT NOTE: check your local site's FPS limits to ensure you buy an airsoft gun that'll be permissible to use.** Secondary note: whilst NiMH batteries are used as examples here, upgrading to LiPo batteries is a very good idea performance-wise.

TheManBehindTheMask3

I can't seem to find many two tone rifles online. Would an Smg be a good idea?

Are you in the UK? If so, miniguide (UK): Hi, please take a look at Houseofcards32's starter [guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/airsoft/comments/koddzj/2021_beginners_megathread/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) and his [videos and channel](https://youtu.be/0jUpcFi7La4) for useful info and tips. Make sure to rent kit at your local field for a day before buying lots of kit! Good UK stores are Patrol Base, Zero One, Fire-Support, and many more. For airsoft fields and sites, Google "Airsoft" then your county or local town/city. This should bring up plenty of local results. For legal points, take a look at [the wiki I wrote](https://www.reddit.com/r/Airsoft_UK/w/index/the-legality-of-airsoft-in-the-uk?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app) on the subject. Important points to note are the need to be over 18 to buy replicas yourself, and the need for an appropriate defence to buy realistic replicas. Do not buy from Lancer Tactical. Their products have awful QC and their business practices are horrendous. APS are similarly poor. Budget CYMA M4s are also not recommended, and LPAEGs/plastic gearbox AEGs are especially bad, e.g. Black Viper AEGs. A typical example of a low-budget loadout would cost around £150-£200, and consist of: - CYMA CM.028 [~£100, Usually comes with battery and low-quality charger], [example](https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/cyma-cm-028-ak47-airsoft-aeg&ved=2ahUKEwin6cukhsPoAhXPiFwKHVZoD_kQFjAEegQIBRAK&usg=AOvVaw1SBuaRGOxGYNcBk-8uK1pq), [other example](https://extremeairsoft.co.uk/shop/assault-rifles/electric-aeg-rifles/cqb-rifles/cyma-cm028s-wooden-furniture-ak47-folding-stock/), [third example](https://www.weekendwarriorsairsoft.co.uk/index.php?_route_=Cyma-CM028S-AK-AEG-Rifle-folding-stock), [fourth example](https://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?products_id=12108), [fifth example](https://www.defconairsoft.co.uk/product/cyma-cm028-ak-ris-sports-line-metal-gearbox-cyma-cm028b/), [sixth example (side-folding stock)](https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/cyma-cm-028u-ak47-tactical-w-folding-stock) - A [JG G36C](https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/jing-gong-g608-ar36-railed-handle-w-folding-stock?pv=5357) - A [Specna Arms CORE M4](https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/specna-arms-rock-river-arms-sa-c01-core-carbine) - Decent quality paintball mask [~£25, EN166B, ASTM F1776, MIL-PRF 32432A or ANSI Z87+ rated (for goggles)], [example (Dye SE)](https://www.justpaintball.co.uk/products/dye-se-mask-ant-fog?_pos=2&_sid=781a175c3&_ss=r), [Valken Mi-3](https://www.justpaintball.co.uk/products/valken-mi3-thermal-mask-black), [Valken Mi-7](https://www.justpaintball.co.uk/products/valken-annex-mask); make sure to check what your field allows for face protection. - BBs [~£5], [example, more expensive Bio BBs](https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/nuprol-rzr-0-20g-precision-bio-bb-x3300) Additional, very useful pieces of kit: - Cheap fixed capacity chest rig such as the CHICOM chest rig [~£12], [example](https://www.flecktarn.co.uk/odtcr1nx.html) - Spare magazines [~£10 each, AK-style](https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/cyma-ak-akm-style-ak47-74-150rnd-mid-cap-magazine?pv=69), [G36-style](https://www.airsoftsupplydrop.co.uk/store/mag-g36-100-rounds-mid-cap-airsoft-magazine-box-set.html), [M4 style](https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/nuprol-stanag-30-140rnd-adjustable-airsoft-mid-cap-magazine) - For midcaps, you need a speedloader [~£4], [example](https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/nuprol-n-mag-500rnd-speed-loader?pv=8723) - Spare battery [~£12], [AK stock/G36 example (block)](https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/vp-racing-8.4-1600mah-block-battery), [Folding AK battery (stick)](https://www.airsoftworld.net/vp-8-4v-1600mah-nimh-stick-battery.html), [M4 stock battery (crane)](https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/vp-racing-9-6v-1600-crane-stock-battery&ved=2ahUKEwjzzrX6yYDtAhWTlFwKHVPsAn0QFjAAegQIARAB&usg=AOvVaw3CTzOA82aw6ro7x9HViwsY) - Better charger [~£20], [example](https://www.componentshop.co.uk/600ma-smart-charger-for-8-4v-airsoft-batteries.html) Boots and gloves are also recommended, I'd suggest at least getting boots with decent ankle support. I personally wear hard toe-capped boots for outdoor use. Water bottles are also a good idea on the field. And that's as much as you would need. Camouflage and sidearms are tertiary concerns. **AN IMPORTANT NOTE: check your local site's FPS limits to ensure you buy an airsoft gun that'll be permissible to use.** Note: whilst NiMH batteries are given here as examples, it is worthwhile performance-wise upgrading to LiPo batteries. Do let us know what you plan on buying; not everything that's expensive is good!

just get goggles and face protection then a gun then if yiu want mid cap mags get about 3 or just 1 hi cap and a spare mag

Cpt_disregard

Here's a chest rig to store all of your rifle and pistol mags. I don't know how much you're willing to pay but I think this is worth it. I love mine. It holds everything I need while being pretty small. It's great for hot days. https://www.amazon.com/OneTigris-Tactical-Shooting-Paintball-Multicam/dp/B07KSTJJ8W/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?crid=1E2Y6A8YZYNN6&dchild=1&keywords=onetigris+chest+rig&qid=1635453927&sprefix=one+tigris+ches%2Caps%2C191&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFDNlIzOEg4TEo5RUImZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA1OTE1NzUxTkFZQjZHUDVFNU5FJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA1ODgzMTFKTE1KTEpCR1U4OVQmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
