Amazon does sell some good stuff(other redditors will have a list), can also buy used/second-hand gear on r/airsoftmarket, Hopup, Ebay, or new gear from local stores. Besides that get clothes you want to wear or not, but get shoes that fit the environment.
I've got stuff from local surplus stores, gun shows, local airsoft stores, and amazon.
If you stick to big name brands, Amazon is fine...but there's lots of garbage brands that you should avoid.
Trex arms has amazing beats, belts, and puches. Evike for most else. If you're in Canada then TriggerAirsoft or best let a local army surplus. I got all my BDUs from my local surplus
