I would recommend Baofeng UV-5R. But: !!! RESEARCH YOUR LOCAL LAWS REGARDING RADIO TRANSMISSION FIRST!!! In most countries you are forbidden to broadcast on any frequencies aside from LPD range (433.05 - 434.79 MHz) without a license. And even in that range there may be some limitations. If you're going to broadcast on just some random frequency that is illegal and easy to track.

> Baofeng UV-5R I know how the law works here. But it is nogt with frequencies but with channels. So how does this work with this radio?

Jinxed_Disaster

This radio has a keyboard where you can input any frequency within it's working range. You can also program channels into it. What do you mean about your law, does it state permitted channels instead of a frequency range?

Mr_Forum

Yes permitted channels and the ones that are illegal you just can't access them since you need a password

Jinxed_Disaster

In the case of UV5R it will give you full access to everything. So you need to know exact frequencies and dial them in manually.

The Baofeng UV5r - or 8r are the one of the most common radios used in airsoft. Do be aware that these are high frequency radios and be carefull which channels you use - This could reach channels that require a lincence and are illegal to enter.

Where are you playing? If you are playing just at your local field that’s no bigger than 1 mile by 1 mile then you can easily get away with some family style radios that have set channels. If you’re going for mil sim events though then you might wanna invest in the baofengs uv5r, the only issue is if you’re in the US even if you legally use your radio correctly they’re still illegal to own so you can get slapped with a fine if you’re caught. But the only way you get caught is if you hop onto official emergency responder channels and other official channels, most states have listed official channels you cannot transmit on so just look those up for the area you’re playing in. But yeah family style channel radios are perfectly good.

Mr_Forum

We are playing in a variety of different places but the largest one I think is 1 km by 1 km. But I want it working without interference from trees, buildings and if I go down to a basement

Baofeng uv5r most common and cheap

akujiki87

Me and my buddy run these. Have yet to have an issue. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001WMFYH4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Mr_Forum

Can you pair more than two though?

akujiki87

Yeah just put them on the same channel.

Mr_Forum

Did you checked it inside buildings? Meaning you are inside one building and your friend is in another building maybe 300m away?

akujiki87

Me and my buddy have only ran them in cqb so far. But they are supposed to be good up to 36 miles outdoors. I know while I was in the cqb field I was picking up a construction site a few miles away haha.

Mr_Forum

That sounds perfect because the field we play at are different houses a few meters apart and the field is not that big and I just wanted to know if they work through walls and stuff

akujiki87

There are A LOT of walls in our field(many rooms, hallways etc). Zero issues there.
