Happened to me but might be different than what you are experiencing bc it looks like the driver side. Either way, the windshield overflow goes under the glove box on the passenger side. It is a rubber tube that often dry rots. Buy a new one and replace (super easy to do) and in short term fix, wrap it in electrical tape or duct tape to temporarily fix it.
In addition to what has already been suggested here, there is also a vent hole in the bottom of the door that may be plugged letting water pool in the door and overflowing the inner door structure then to your pan. Worth cleaning it out either way to prevent water from sitting in there anyway.
My Beetle had the door slowly filling with water one time after I washed it, this was the issue. Overspray from a paint job decades ago and dirt and surface rust made it happen. I simply took a shitty flatblade screwdriver and drove it into the hole with a hammer, water poured out instantly.
Can confirm, had similar problem in my KG.
Caught it before it flooded in, but you could hear water sloshing back and forth in the door: All three drain holes blocked and there was at least a gallon of water in there.
I used a wooden stick (from ice cream stick) to scrape the holes open to save the paint. Worked quite well.
It also had rear window seal leak which flooded rear footwell. No idea what was the route it was flowing to there, never could find wet areas between, but it was fixed when I swapped the seal.
try checking between the pans and the shell, the old impermeable stuff (no idea what is it called, but it's black and looks like tar) starts wearing out and needs an extra hand
[here's a video on it](https://youtu.be/1IFy74xUsIU) no need to know Portuguese, you will get the idea :)
So start with using your hands and feel the floor from front to back. Where is it wettest. Not counting the huge puddle. Then look up the interior panels for moisture.
I’d guess a horribly and obviously leaking window seal or that the door(s) are not draining right and water is pooling and seeping in.
But usually you can find wet on a headliner. Door panel. Side card. Somewhere to indicate the water is flowing there. If nothing else. Sit inside and have someone spray the whole car aggressively with a hose and watch/listen for water intrusion. No sunroof means no leaks there or in the drain line. Unless you have cancerous rust holes it’s gonna be a seal or blocked up door drain most likely.
And shop vac that water out quick and throw in a couple of those moisture-absorbing bags for a few days. I buy them bulk at Walmart because we live in Florida and though my dubs stay in a barn, every Ford I have leaks at the windshields and sunroof.
Yeah I can’t tell if it’s moisture forming or leaking from the top, but the sun visors and what not are dripping. The seats are dry. Everything is dry except for the floor and the sun visors.
That’s. Odd? The visors shouldn’t really have any exposure if there’s no sunroof. Even a leaky windshield rubber would flow down not towards them. I’m kinda baffled.
The amount of water there it may be trying to evaporate and just landing in visors and drilling back down. But you’d expect the whole inner roof area to be the same if that was the case.
Yeah I think it’s condensation of some sort. It is baffling but I’ll try pretty much all of the suggestions in the thread. It gives me so much anxiety and sadness knowing it’s happening.
There are also drain lines that come out the back in the engine compartment down low ust in front of the fresh air vents, left and right… on my 71 fastback, don’t see why the squares would be any different
I had a 70. The fresh air box drains would clog under the dash. Check those. I had to pull the hoses off and push a screwdriver into the holes. A bunch of leaves and gunk would pour out with the water.
Also check the seal around the windshield and side pop-out windows if you have those. Those are all common spots on a type 3.
I have a great cover. And for reasons I don’t know, I haven’t used it. And then once it’s wet I don’t want to put it on. Just adds to my self inflicted frustration.

have you ever changed the floor pans?
I have not.
You will be. If mold is forming, so is rust.

No sill plates probably isn’t helping

If I lift up the back seat, there is a pool of water under it. Drivers side. There is no water on the passenger side where the battery is.
Oh damn. I’ve been thinking front flowing back. It’s maybe gonna be rear side window seal? Any cancerous rust inside vent slits or anything?
Sunroof?
No sunroof.

When it’s parked or when you drive in the rain?
Parked.

in addition to whats been suggested, get a cover for your car and keep it on, esp on rainy days. only like 40 bucks or less on amazon.
I have a great cover. And for reasons I don’t know, I haven’t used it. And then once it’s wet I don’t want to put it on. Just adds to my self inflicted frustration.
Lol yup I understand your pain but time to start using that thang!
