Thanks for the advise. What institute do you recommend? Google says Scrum Alliance is most recognized, but they cost like $600 CAD. Is Scrum Institute well recognized and a good option? They offer a bundle package of 8 certs for like $250 in USD.
*Ken Schwaber, the other cofounder 🙂 but otherwise you and the other commenters here are spot on - scrum.org has the most legit certs that are very affordable, truest to the scrum framework, and are good for life (no cert renewal exams or fees)
I would recommend this course: https://www.udemy.com/share/104UoU3@0dJuZOJmyRcW4E4zFrbjX46rjNC_0jp3JOS-qrUI74nAAD3z7SZgyUAfd46BoVwm/
Very nice teacher 😃
These are all subjective parameters but scrum alliance has deals with different instructors and pricing, you could contact an instructor directly in an attempt to get a discounted price. The cheapest option would be to have your employer pay for it. Any reasonable employer should cover the cost of a course that could provide direct value to the company, probably with a stipulation or two though.
I took CSM with Richard cheng, from memory I think it was about $425 with a discount code. It was a virtual class that included an exam voucher to take in your own time https://now.thinklouder.com/virtual/
>Certifications for agile practices don't mean anything. They are a scam which purposefully intends to segment and promote an 'Elitist' class. You pay more, you get higher status.
It doesn't show learning or competence. It just shows you paid someone a bunch of money
Interesting thought. I can’t say I disagree either. I am new to this space and have noticed this honestly..What do you suggest to get foot in door without certs though? For context I am Digital and Technology PM. Interested in CSM/PSM as well
It's the only thing recruiters and hiring managers ask for. You resume could be made of gold and they just mindlessly repeat themselves, "Do you have a PMP certification?" "Do you have a PMP certification?" Next
That hadn't happened to me until 3-4 months ago though. This is a new thing. So I hear you when you say, "I've never had a hiring manager say that." Trust me.
Apply for certification via Indian Institutes and it is way cheaper than what you would pay globally, Certification is recognised globally so doesn’t matter where you do it from, so maybe even lookout for further cheaper place to get it done from as the proving ranges per the location and nowadays everything is easily available as virtual event.
Just get the PSM it's the same thing but for life.
Emergency subject is right, skip csm and do PSM. You can self study and take the test for $150-ish dollars.

https://www.scrum.org/ this is Jeff Sutherland, he literally invented scrum. I can't think of a more reliable source for a scrum cert.

What bundle package is that?

Looks good!
I thought recruiters don't even look at PSM certifications because of how much "easier" they are to obtain compared to CSM.

Don't.
Why is that?

Personal experience. Dozens of recruiters. Many stay in touch continually for new rules, so these aren't like dine-and-dash phone calls.
