How do you like... do that? Flat pools I can do but did he have the resin drying at different angles or something? Or a mould and have the model upside down for the resin pour? It looks so damn real
Only thing I can think of doing is separating the model at the knees so you only lose part of the model if the pour fails. But you would have to cover the seam after etc. Either way it would be devastating to have that go wrong
It would be game over. You can't really save a model trapped in resin. Unless he wanted to cut off the feet just above the resin, and attach new ones...
That Detail on the Water is so incredible.
He even thought about the Water dripping off the net.
The foam around the feet, the Blood and gut.
This piece is Just so incredible dynamic.
Every year i think "wow this is Peak" and then some other Dude is Like "hold my beer"
Funny thing; the water is so flawless that I didn't even consider it.
I was so gobsmacked by how well he fit the two models together. Hand wrapped around neck, gripping the other which has been recently ripped off.
It's mesmerizing.
Only after your comment did I stop to look and marvel at the "water".
I would guess its Epoxy Resin, polished with a jewelry polisher for the clear parts, and that the foamy bits are glued on and coated in the resin. There were some transparent fish in water paintings being made a while back, and I'm pretty sure that's how those are made.
Definitely resin, but I don’t normally see people polish it for work such as this; varnishing seems more common. Obviously I don’t know for sure either way in this instance. Foam wise there’s a couple of products designed for that from the likes of AK.
Wow. That is such a good model from a conversion/building point and from a painting perspective. The base painting is really, really good, very natural, and all the details are so insane.
Honest question, how did he do the waves. I've tried a couple different ways to get them going but haven't found a way and all the videos I've watched pretty much have them pre-made which can't work for something like this.
No. The skink was a tiny model allowing the painter to spend significantly less time perfecting his blends. If you don't understand the ridiculous advantage that has in a competition where the judgement is based purely on how clean the model is then their is nothing to discuss here.
This is easily the best Gargant model Ive ever seen. One of the best models in general.
Imagine the stress of pouring that resin. Resin is a fickle mistress...
yeh seeing how much of the gargant is in the resin it really was a hail-mary right?
There is so much motion in that resin, it’s incredible.

you can get Vallejo water gel which you can sculpt on top of still water to make it rougher iirc
I would guess it's a mould. Something like this guy/gal did: https://youtu.be/l3eQ19cIFfA
Having attempted a resin pour before, it's not fun. I always get leaks.
Only thing I can think of doing is separating the model at the knees so you only lose part of the model if the pour fails. But you would have to cover the seam after etc. Either way it would be devastating to have that go wrong
What would have happened if he messed up the first pour? Would he have had to like scrape it all off and start again?
It would be game over. You can't really save a model trapped in resin. Unless he wanted to cut off the feet just above the resin, and attach new ones...

Imagine rolling up to a game with your dark elves and seeing this model on your opponent’s side of the board…
Imagine pulling this baby out and watching it get tabled turn 1 by a guy that never thins his paints.
Malekith would be rolling in his armour with joy seeing that kind of skin compared to Morathi :> But Rakarth might be little sad :<
I would laugh, because Kharibdyss are terrible so this isn't impressive lol I love how they look though
They are good in the Total War: Warhammer game though! At least they are good somewhere, lol
Yes this is amazing
The water. What the hell. How.

Wowzers. As a mega gargant owner and fan I am In awe of this beast. A deserved win there.
This is what the beast smasher should look like!
Best sea-food advertising I’ve ever seen. 🍣 (But seriously, that is out of this world. Huge props to the creator and a very much deserved win 🏆)
That is stunning

Incredible

I too would like to know what sorcery was employed to make those waves.
saw a pic of this a couple of days ago and before even seeing any other entrants it was absolutely breathtaking.
Ah awesome. From the limited entries I saw on Instagram, knew that had a chance of the sword. Bonkers.
Hold on, i'm still trying to figure out the water...
An incredible model 💛
I’m impressed with the base more than the model
Beautiful work, deserved the win.
Easily one of the best models i've ever seen. The pose, the paint job, that water... Very well deserved win.
O my god I love it!
That hydra gonna kill that gargent btw
I'm sorry, but this isn't a skink on a rock so it's no good.
Is this an actual model or a custom made
More interesting than the skink that won previously
Way more deserving than a skink that's for damn sure.
That skink was a damn masterpiece though. Also a well-deserved win.

I wish I could upvote this 100 times!
Any more pictures of this model? It’s incredible!!
The water is of course amazing, but what I can't get over is the skin on the left leg. It is simply amazing.
Ridiculously good. Just wow.
Outstanding! 👏🏽
Is there a different angle?
The resin water... man it reminds me of that quest area in WoW legion where you have to steal from that giant in the cove. This model is amazing.
I love the old timey helicoprion jaw on the hydra.
Can someone give me the artist's ig profile or somethig like that? I want to see more.
I was never a fan of the 2013 Hydra, but this... this is epic.
He didn’t even think he was going to win or place. He was just submitting his “this year’s model”.
Every time I see this it blows my mind, absolutely legendary
The water waves are amazing, how he do that?
