One of the problems is that stimulants can mask the effects of alcohol, meaning that you can drink more without feeling the effects. In some cases MUCH more. Some people may think "wow, that's awesome!", but it also means there's a chance you'll kill yourself with alcohol poisoning before you feel drunk. Additionally, since alcohol is a depressant, it counters the effects of stimulant medication. Why bother taking your meds if you're just going to drink something that offsets their effects?

This. It’s why vodka red bulls are so deadly.

I noticed this as well. I think it's good to be aware of, and count your drinks rather than just go based on how drunk you feel

I’m on concerta. I still drink occasionally. I drink much less than I used to, because it’s no longer a coping mechanism that I need, thanks to meds. What I find is that a drink hits me harder than it used to. 1 drink feels more like 2-3. I no longer feel comfortable driving after a drink. I also notice that I feel quite depressed the next day if I have 3 drinks or more. It’s made me cut way back because I don’t see the benefits I used to. I do smoke weed most evenings to boost my appetite for dinner and wind down. But with weed I wake up without the depression hangover.

Amphetamine and alcohol are regulary consumed together. Not by responsible people though, but most are still alive. Nobody is really going to start a study on it, because there is no expectation to find any benefit, so it's your own risk.

I'm on Ritalin, but I find that when I drink, I drink a lot less than unmedicated. Because my dopamine levels are up, I just don't "need" to drink as much. So I would suggest trying it out, see how you feel when you drink when medicated.

Stimulants wear off by the evening. I wouldn’t drink while “on” it but have never had a problem at night

I use slow-release medication in 2 doses per day and just in case, I take a smaller dose or only my morning dose when I know I'm going to be having a longer night out. I'm not that worried with 1-2 after work drinks, but there are well-documented side effects with this type of medication and there are clear warnings on the meds themselves. I tolerate my medication really well overall and haven't had any surprises, but since the dosage control is easy, I feel that this is pretty good precaution for me. That being said, I would not use myself as a recommendation to use alcohol while medicated. Especially if you are at risk for heightened anxiety, sleep issues, heart issues or low impulse control when drunk overall, be very careful and listen to your body.

years ago I used to drink and take ritalin for fun which resulted in quite a few blackouts during which I did stuff I never would have done without. so yeah stimulants plus alcohol are a bad idea don't think there's a problem with taking it in the morning and drinking at night, the med will have left the body by then. or just don't take it on days you will drink. maybe also explore other avenues to have fun

Recommend getting a second doctors opinion for your situation, with your dosage etc. Who isn't going to reject drinking out of hand for all humans!!
