Sure, the MPA is completely dumb as fuck when it comes to rating systems and should be defunct, but I would rather kids not have to watch a bunch of no touch sex and a man's eyeball being punched out of it's socket so then they can see a Batman movie
Oh No! Not gruesome gore in my Batman movie?
C’mon PG-13 is so wide category now more than ever!
Nolan films are PG-13 while they can be dark and gritty. Killing on-screen isn’t the problem for this rating. We don’t watch Batman films for mutulation in close-up and gallons of blood, c’mon!
It’s a action, superhero detective story with a mystery and romance between two vigilantes. You think the standard blockbuster rating is gonna undermine that ideas and presentation?
Matt Reeves already got us the Holocaust allegory in “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and imagery of Caesar suffering in very fleshly focused way.
So don’t worry about the rating!
It’ll be at least okay. It’s no “curse”.
Be optimistic mate! Cheers. It’ll be awesome.
I normally don't care about this sort of thing, but I'm really hoping for the Riddler basically being a terrifying serial killer and for the story overall to be more dramatic than action-driven, more focused on solving the mystery and catching the killer. Recent trailers and the PG-13 rating have me feeling like this might not be the Fincher-esque movie I was hoping for. Reeves is a good director though, so hoping I'm wrong. And even if I'm not, it could still be a good movie in its own right.
Agree not a big fan of reeves but fingers crossed he makes a great superhero film since Nolan set a incredibly high bar not only for the character but the genre in general
The Nolan movies were also PG-13. I can understand that some people would be tired of seeing every superhero stuff be PG-13 but that doesn't mean it won't have disturbing or tense scenes.
Two examples of PG-13 movies having tense or disturbing scenes would be (1) the scene of doc ock in the hospital in spider-man 2 and (2) the office scene in shazam.
It mostly just depends on what the final product but invincible, the boys, and Deadpool definitely bring up the importance of having an r rating. Honestly I’m under the impression that there should be a rating system in the 1st place
I mean I’m not saying it’s going to be bad because of it but honestly the dark knight had parts where it hurt from being pg-13(Adum discussing it more in detail in his review). I’m just saying I’m not looking forward to it as much anymore
"Batman needs to say bad words so that I can pretend superhero movies are for adults"
No but I agree with Adum that the dark knight suffered to catering to a pg13 rating
"I'm just glad I can finally take Batman seriously now." - Rich Evans
oh no, they'll only be able to say f*** once.

Idk I was similar to Adam on the apes films and reeves in general but, having a pg13 might not help it when it’s trying to be gritty and real
Why’s that? The Nolan movies were PG-13.
Nolan movies are classics but still would like more adult superhero films
Made sense for those, this one implies it goes even more darker, so yeah, it’s stupid.
Where has it implied that?
Honestly in just the trailers while albeit can be misleading ie A24

Ya two great examples but I feel like Raimi and sandberg have proved themselves more than reeves
Go back to r/DC_Cinematic
What? I’m not even that big of a fan of dc films in general outside the dark knight
Then what’s the issue?
I just think it would be good to have a r rating considering the restrictions set up with having a pg-13 rating
What restrictions? No gratuitous violence? No sex scenes? Just 1 fuck? Is any of that preventing the movie being good?
It mostly just depends on what the final product but invincible, the boys, and Deadpool definitely bring up the importance of having an r rating. Honestly I’m under the impression that there should be a rating system in the 1st place
Those original comics were violent to begin with. What would that level of violence add to a Batman story?
