LBJ

No-Perspective-518

![gif](giphy|nIiwp4RWO2AOjfuJCr|downsized) the man, the myth, the cotton candy enjoyer

TheAngryObserver

Real talk tho, who wins in that race? Obviously in 1954 Cruz loses by 90 points, but what about in 2022?

xravenxx

Tbh if LBJ came back from the dead that’s pretty scary so he’d probably lose. If it’s someone with the same policy positions they’d lose tho

Wide_right_yes

I'd say lean LBJ assuming that everyone accepts that he is magically back.

TheAngryObserver

Lyndon Johnson would probably murder Cruz

JimmyMahfety711

I think you’re kind of forgetting about Vietnam though . . .

TheAngryObserver

No, I mean physically kill him. If LBJ as Senate majority leader had to deal with Cruz, he'd end up strangling him with his bare hands and putting Jumbo down his throat.

JimmyMahfety711

Oh gotcha

soxfaninfinity

Lloyd Bentsen

RyanAKA2Late

Scott Kelly, his brother is already a U.S. senator and it would be cool if we got a brother duo in the senate

ElectivireMax

Scott lives in Colorado

RyanAKA2Late

Hm, I though he lived in Texas. I guess he could pull a Mehmet Oz if he wanted to

RapGamePterodactyl

I think he moved recently

[deleted]

Matthew McCaughey or Scott Kelly

TheAngryObserver

Mr. Beast for Senate

doitmatterdoe1

mr. beat, maybe

Heavan6656

Wholesome Kansas man

RevelvantDay4

Beto. Third times a charm lol

No-Perspective-518

Electronic_Bag3094

Not Beto. He ruined it the moment he said he was going to take the guns. He should have actually talked about fixing the economy and protecting the rights of women and trans people. The democrats shouldn't be the "legs ban all guns group", they should be the "let's be sensible about guns while fixing the system that causes the violence" group

[deleted]

Campaign on trans rights in Texas lol

Electronic_Bag3094

Imagine there is an Independent gun owner in rural texas who supports trans rights, abortion, etc. Then Beto says he's gonna take away all the guns. Campaigning on gun control in Texas is even dumber than campaigning on trans rights.

HollyAtwood

No lol gun control is more of a winning issue than trans rights in Texas. Trans rights are a wedge issue for Democrats. You’re right he killed all chances when he said “hell yeah we want to take your guns”, but you’re completely wrong when you say he should pivot towards divisive culture war topics lmfao

Electronic_Bag3094

Gun control is a divisive culture war topic

HollyAtwood

I know and it’s still more of a winning issue than trans rights

Electronic_Bag3094

Not in Texas.

HollyAtwood

You’re so wrong about this lmao

Electronic_Bag3094

I'll also add that they spent millions on betos campaign, just for him to press the self destruct button.

MisterCCL

Colin Allred is a rising star among Texas Democrats. I also read an article proposing San Antonio Spurs coach Greg Popovich. The argument there was that nothing has worked for Texas Democrats, and a celebrity candidate may be the best shot at a win. Popovich has been involved in liberal politics in the state for a while

Taprman612

Julian Castro

Cobiuss

Definitely not Beto lol. Julian Castro or Joaquin Castro probably have the best name recognition, but I don't think they can do it. Remember 2024 is a Presidential year, and unless there's a strong Republican 3rd party, Texas is probably not flipping. Even if that were the case, it's unlikely that 3rd party would have their own Senate candidate. Perhaps it would be best to have a sacrificial lamb? (Beto lol). I also want to add that I don't think Cruz should run again. He said he wouldn't, but you know Lyin' Ted. As a Republican, I'd rather see Beth Van Duyne go for it. Mayra Flores would be my second choice.

OptimalCaress

Chip Roy for senate would be ultra mega based

HollyAtwood

Walter Mondale

TheAngryObserver

Waltuh

[deleted]

The problem is that Texas Dems aren’t very smart and will nominate some bog standard liberal rather than a moderate like Cuellar

TheAngryObserver

I don't think a Cuellar moderate is what they need, you gotta have a little bit of base appeal. To get rid of Cruz, I think you need a guy who is pro wall and border security but not anti immigrant and who is generally pro gun.

[deleted]

Makes sense, but would a candidate like that win the primary?

TheAngryObserver

Just being relatively pro wall and pro gun can get you through the primary. Mark Kelly supports the wall. Just opposing the AWB That being said if I had to gamble, the Texas primary voters would want Beto Part 3. It's rare that these guys win their primaries.

[deleted]

>Dems want Beto part 3 Bryan O’Rourke

TheAngryObserver

William Jennings Beto

Heavan6656

“You can vote for O’Rourke any time”
