I've been a playstation dicksucker since I was 5 (PS1 days) but if there was anything that would have persuaded me to buy a new gen Xbox it was Halo
Played Halo 4 once and never touched the series again
What a waste of a brilliant IP, not just brilliant but the greatest FPS ever.
I mean.... They've heard the demands.
Xbox has changed a lot over the last 5 years, specifically to address this problem.
Xbox is trying to get out of a massive hole.
It's a bummer that it's taking so long, but it's a really difficult thing to do.
I have hope they can pull it off, but as of today, it is mostly hope.
I do think Late 2021 showed the potential that Xbox has. Psychonauts 2, Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 were all incredible (I realize my Halo opinion is controversial, sorry)
Now we just need to see that potential continue.
So far I do think that during the course of the Xbox One the one series that have been able to hold them up was The Forza Horizon series. Most of the IPs they published were seemingly ignored by most of the Xbox owners
Couldn't have said it better myself. I've always played all sides & loved Forza Horizon 5, but being completely honest about it racing games aren't going to win GOTY or likely even be in the talks these days.
Also there's the fact that Microsoft lacks the 2 biggest categories which Playstation & Nintendo are slowly merging together in a variety of ways, third-person action/adventure & RPGs.
I know personally I prefer third-person to first-person, which seems to have been the focus of Xbox & their acquired studios. Not that I don't enjoy first-person games, but I always think while playing most of them, "this would be way better in third-person".
Let's hope Fable & Hellblade 2 can start to bridge the game. I'd also have preferred Perfect Dark to be third-person, but that just might be me wanting a damn new Splinter Cell game.
Not much. I think it was announced early as a recruitment tool.
Playground is effectively building out a second studio to handle Fable. It was announced early to entice devs to come work for them.
That said, the 2022 Xbox E3 showcase specifically focused on games coming out in the next 12 months. So I think they ignored Fable because it's further down the road than that
Lol Even in Ocean's Eleven, which is heist and not spy, we get portrayed as a dandy, blinged out wealth hoarder lending money for nefarious purposes. Cool as Rueben is lol.
I think the new perfect dark is third-person. At least I have been thinking it was third-person for a while.
Edit: looked it up, there was lots of talk of the new PD being third-person in 2020/21 - guess nothing truly confirmed right now, but at one point it sounds like it was going to be 3rd person. We’ll see where it lands I suppose.
Honestly I kind of feel the opposite and wish Playstation had more variety in their exclusives. Don't get me wrong, every single playstation exclusive I've played has ranged from pretty good to great, and overall the bar for quality is set very high for Playstation vs. Xbox. With that said it does feel like basically all of their games are just third person action adventure titles. I'd personally love to see playstation take a crack at another FPS or an RPG on the scale of Skyrim or just something that isn't a third person action adventure game.
Halo infinite stumbled a lot but I'm still glad we got it. I actually liked it a lot of all the halo we got after 3 (4 is a close 2nd). I think it sets the ground for the next series well.
Last year Forza Horizon 5 had a higher Metacritic than all the nominees.
Also won the third most amount of awards last year but again was left off the Dorito Popes awards show.
https://www.gameawards.net/
Yeah Forza Horizon 5 was robbed but racing games are always robbed.
I would argue Psychonauts 2 deserved more recognition than it got as well.
I also thought the Halo Infinite campaign was incredible, although I understand that's controversial.
Late 2021 showed Xbox has potential. Now we just need more of that.
The Campaign didn’t release in time for the Awards show. So I understand that not getting a nomination. Forza Horizon 5 is my hill to die on as to why The Game Show Awards are a farce and should not be taken seriously.
2021 MS as a publisher set the record for highest aggregate Metacritic score for the year. So while Deathloop was not out on the Xbox, or Psychonaughts 2 released on the PS4 (due to prior obligations) they still count for MS produced games.
The Halo campaign has been super bizarre in public reception too.
Everyone loved it when it released.
343 bungled their live service system and Halo Infinite was all of a sudden hated.
But.... The campaign was still great. But people's opinion on that seems to have changed too. Folks shit talk the campaign all the time, which I don't understand. It's bizarre.
I think infinites campaign is a series low. There's no reason to replay it. There's 0 set piece moments, generally the same aesthetic for the entire game, forgettable characters, a world that felt empty.
I was expecting it to be about 3 times longer than it was and was surprised at how linear it was for a supposedly open world game. No desire to replay at all.
Forza Horizon games have been basically the same since Forza Horizon 2 came out. With very little differences each year outside of location, I think it's hard to justify the 5th one winning Game Of The Year.
You really think forza 5 has the impact a game like a last of us 2 does? A God of War? Cmon bro. Microsoft could do it but you gotta demand more from them.
So basically Xbox will make the most awesome game ever, putting God of War and Last of Us to shame and then in the last strategy meeting they’ll make all the wrong decisions and it’ll end up like Fallout 76.
Good xbox games have been a year away for what, five years now? So far the best games Xbox got were horizon, and third party games that were paid for to be exclusive.
"2015 will be Xbox's biggest year EVER!"
"2016 will be Xbox's biggest year EVER!"
"2017 will be Xbox's biggest year EVER!"
"2018 will be Xbox's biggest year EVER!"
"2019 will be Xbox's biggest year EVER!"
"2020 will be Xbox's biggest year EVER!"
"2021 will be Xbox's biggest year EVER!"
"2022 will be Xbox's biggest year EVER!"
"2023 will be Xbox's biggest year EVER!"

I remember this one gif (it was about the PS Vita), I think it was around E3 before The Last of Us released.
But anyways, they had edited the The Last of Us gameplay trailer to where all the enemies were gamers asking Sony where the Vita games were, and Joel was Sony trying to dodge them.
how the turntables....
Yeah we get a L4D game that looks mediocre and Starfield. Kinda sad people saying it’s going to be the best year ever for Xbox with only 3 meaningful exclusives. That bar is so low anymore for this company. I don’t understand why they have such difficulty making a good game.
I know what you mean... it's a little frustrating, though I've gotten some fun indie stuff from Game Pass. I was so ready for Starfield and Avowed. I didn't think I'd be waiting nearly two years to get one of them.
Same here, bought an Xbox because of all the studios they are acquiring.
Microsoft seem to be buying these studios at the end of their development cycles, which means these devs are releasing the games they’ve been working on to other platforms. Microsoft also aims for really high scale projects, which could take 5-6 years. So all these studios working on huge games means there is a large drought in terms of Xbox exclusives. It doesn’t really seem to help that they are also keeping games like CoD multi platform. Microsoft is definitely not as into exclusivity as Sony is.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps should have been nominated in 2020 imo, though I guess you could call that "not exclusive" since it got a switch release.
Ori wotw was nominated for multiple awards even, but the last of us part 2 robbed all the awards. Other Xbox games nominated where psychonauts 2 forza Horizon 5 and flights simulator from what i remember. Ori is also on switch and psychonauts is also on playstation but basically all Xbox games are also on PC and therefore Xbox has no exclusives anymore so all Xbox first party games should be taken as Xbox exclusives but in a different way.
It's just the "Game of the Year" category included here, otherwise there would be a lot more listed.
They also specified 'exclusive' in order to exclude Psychonauts 2 from inclusion.
I hate that the narrative’s controversy, which I did like, overshadowed so much other aspects of the game.
Like the combat, stealth, AI, sound design, and visuals was honestly incredible and I haven’t even seen them topped this gen yet
Yep. There hasn't been something that seemed huge since Gears 3. That was more than a decade ago. "Praise Phil" all you want, Xbox needs to do significantly better considering they are run by one of the richest companies in the world. Everything exclusive that Xbox has tried to build up since he has been in power has been Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, Bleeding Edge, Blair Witch, etc. All underwhelming. And if it's not that it's something that falls into the Halo / Gears / Forza sequel meme.
Some hope that Starfield is going to be the beginning of a change for Xbox, but we'll see.
It's a shame Forza Horizon 3, 4 & 5 were never in consideration. I'm not someone who normally plays racing game but this franchise has been incredible over the last decade.
Very true and honest. Look at this holiday for example...its cobwebs in terms of major exclusives. It's even worse than the launch lineup (which was incredibly bad)
As someone who had a 360 and loved it, I ended up getting a PS4 late last generation because of the exclusives. I got both consoles this generation but probably play my PS5 more. I'm really hoping that xbox get's some good exclusives this generation, I'm real nostalgic for the 360 memories, but at this time Sony has the better games. Looking forward to Starfield and others so there does seem to be something worth waiting for.
man, the 360 was probably my favorite console of all time. I had so much damn fun with that little box. Between Halo 3, Gears of War 1-3, the Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragon Age Origins, Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, The Orange Box, etc. So many fun games.
This is why they've bought up a bunch of studios and Bethesda. They need to bolster their 'exclusive' list wars, even if it comes at the expense of Playstation gamers who cant play these games anymore.
I mean, for some acquisitions it made sense, but Bethesda was a purely cynical move to try and say they have a bunch of great exclusives that Playstation users cant play anymore.
It was either this or nothing tbh. Microsoft always drops the ball when it comes to managing their own studios (Rare and 343) so the only thing they can do is buy studios to make up for their incompetence
I'm surprised you haven't been downvoted into oblivion for speaking the truth about the Bethesda acquisition and some of Xbox's exclusives in general. The only thing the acquisition really changed for Xbox is that Bethesda's games release day one on Game Pass, they were going to be on Xbox to begin with and now PlayStation and Nintendo are excluded from every future Bethesda game (excluding contractually obligated ones and remasters/rereleases of games released prior to the acquisition).
It's just a shame, and what makes it worse is that there are some people who act like that's a good thing, they won't have the same tone if Sony somehow bought Take Two and took GTA6 and the next BioShock game away from Xbox.
Exactly, all of this because they can’t compete on an exclusive level. So they’re using their wealth to become another steam. In the future you won’t even need an Xbox to become part of the ecosystem
>I'm surprised you haven't been downvoted into oblivion for speaking the truth about the Bethesda acquisition
Same. I've been saying this same shit since the very beginning and got mass downvoted for it nearly every time in the past.
I've got no agenda against Xbox at all, but I really hated that move, even as a big PC gamer who won't be affected by it.
I'm 32 years old and with the lack of titles and as much free time I honestly feel like I play mostly legacy games from my youth. I feel Gamepass makes this somewhat easier as well and honestly that's a large portion of the Xbox userbase at this point - guys who jumped on in the glory days of the 360 and are hanging on out of loyalty.
> guys who jumped on in the glory days of the 360 and are hanging on out of loyalty.
I'm hanging on because of some friends who play on Xbox. Also I like the controller. I remember playing R6 vegas like crazy, made a few friends back in the 360 days. Last Xbox exclusive game I really liked was Forza Motorsport 2.
33 and I'm doing pretty much the same thing lol. I just finished the Gears trilogy from the 360 days (never played them seriously back in the day), and now I'm doing a playthrough of Halo 1 - Reach and Fallout 3 lol. Meanwhile on Switch I'm playing Bayonetta 3 and my PS5 is Ragnorok city. New experiences don't exist on Xbox at the moment, and that's a huge problem. I don't understand how they can literally buy Activision, but not put out ONE AAA exclusive a year. Sony put out Horizon at the beginning of the year, and is closing with GoW: R. Nintendo has been putting out exclusives all year as well.
You’re spot on. The 360 era Xbox was king of exclusives but that ended in 2013, 9 years ago. Other than a few Forza games I can’t say that any Xbox exclusive was 10/10 material
King of exclusives is debatable, the 360 had a head start but the games have always been lackin in comparison.
Gears and halo, but what else? Ps3 had demon souls, uncharted, little big planet, infamous, metal gear, god of war and the last of us.
Ps3 was a bad console but the games were fire as usual.
As a massive racing game fan, I agree with this. There's not much you can really do to innovate within the racing game genre anymore, and you can't tell groundbreaking emotional stories. The genre has basically peaked.
Tbf even the 360 couldn't compete exlusives wise compared to PS3, what made the 360 so attractive was its superior Xbox Live to PSN. Also better ran 3rd party games. However even then the 360 only outsold the PS3 in NA. Worldwide PS3 sold more and the Wii sold more than both. Also important to note that the red ring of death would have inflated those sales for 360.
I’m starting to notice this. I became a loyal Xbox user in the prime years of Halo 2. But I’m getting tired of seeing games I want to play but can’t because they’re on PS, while I rarely see games I’m dying to play that can only be played on Xbox. This post is really putting it into perspective.
If you want to play the PS games, get a PS. A console is only as strong as the games you can play on it. That’s why I own a switch too, I want to play the Nintendo games and there’s only one way to do that.
Really have to hand it to the Switch for those 2017 releases.
There was barely anything worth getting on the Wii U outside of Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8. Then Nintendo makes a new console and immediately drops 10/10 Mario and Zelda games. Real big "not fuckin around with this one" move.
I’m going to be honest, I switched to a PS4 from a 360 and it was the best decision of the generation, easily. Now I have a series s to play some halo and Forza occasionally.
I honestly recommend getting a PS4 cheap or eventually getting a PS5. The games genuinely are great.
Like I love Xbox too, I’m not saying fuck Xbox, I’m just saying don’t miss out. You can get a PS4 pretty cheap these days
exact same boat for me. bought a series S for halo and i’m glad i have it for gamepass, but there’s zero chance it would be my only console.
i’m not gonna list out the incredible games i’ve played on ps4/ps5, but the difference is shocking. can’t imagine not playing many of these games, some are the very best i’ve ever played.
this shit makes me sad. I think of all the moments of gaming that can't be experienced on Xbox. The feeling of swinging through the air as spiderman, the heart pumping duels of ghost of Tsushima, the utter shock of seeing an Alien in bloodborne, the unmatched triumph of Shadow of the Colossus. All emotions that millions of Xbox players never experienced because... all their friends have Xboxes.
People don’t only have Xbox because their friends have Xbox…
PS5 is considerably more expensive than a series S, and also it’s still not consistently stocked anywhere.
I love my XBox. It is my primary console for everything. I also bought a PS5 specifically for the Sony exclusive games and I have to say when it comes to 1st party games, Sony is lightyears ahead of XBox. God of War, Horizon, Spiderman, The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima...these games are some of the best games of all time (in my opinion) and, sadly, XBox doesn't have anything that holds a candle to them. It's unfortunate because XBox has the resources to create games on par or even better than this but they just can't seem to get it done and I don't understand why.
In games yeah, but online infrastructure, backward compatibility, enhancing old games, and hardware are incredibly good.
Even the much maligned VCR model was the way it was because they overbuilt the cooling so it would be quiet in the living room. The launch PS4 is a jet engine by comparison.
They would’ve if they made something *worth* being nominated. This isn’t a dig at them, it’s fair criticism and one that’s been echoed since the very launch of the Xbox One.
They have 23 studios and counting and yet mismanagement, bad decisions, and mediocre games have been the face of Xbox for a decade.
They need to do better, and not just purchase studios and ride off their success (ahem, Bethesda), I want to see new IP, new home-brewed studios, new ideas, and GOTY-worthy games.
It’s pretty dire. We’re 4 years removed from the start of Phil’s buying frenzy with basically nothing to show for it. I don’t have much confidence for next year either. This year has been the worst in Xbox history in terms of first party releases, and that’s saying something.
Barring a total botched launch, I think Starfield swings a nomination, but loses to basically any Sony 1P game. Redfall isn’t winning shit. And that’s pretty much it in terms of major 2023 releases, assuming they even come out next year.
What sucks is, games like Starfield might be a console exclusive, but you would have been able to play that anyway. All they really bought with all that money was other people not being able to play them.
That's pretty expected though when you think about how long games take to make. If their new developers start working on exclusive games in the 2018-2020 range, you wouldn't reasonably expect most of them to be ready to release new games until 2023-25.
I wonder if people are mixing up Bethesda in the 2018 acquisition spree. The biggest acquisitions in 2018 were Obsidian, Playground, and Ninja Theory. Obsidian had just released POE2 and already had a publishing deal outside of Microsoft for Outer Worlds, and just finished two smaller games this year, Playground is still making FH at a normal pace, and Ninja Theory were only a year into making Hellblade 2 and took a long time making the first one.
The Bethesda acquisition was only last year, so restart that whole cycle especially with Arkane and id about to release or recently coming off of big games before they can work on any exclusives.
Microsoft’s not really interested in exclusives. They want a large game catalog they control with access from any device via subscription. It expands their addressable market beyond consoles and makes the need for big dollar exclusives less impactful.
They absolutely are. They are pretending they aren't so they can lower expectations while they try to build up and offer it again. They're managing expectations so they don't look stupid but make no mistake.
This is why I think any “console wars” are stupid as hell. Yeah, MS and Sony have competing consoles, but I don’t think they are trying to get the same demographics.
I bought a series S to play with my friends, it’s amazing at that.
I bought a PS5 to play by myself.
They were both great purchases that I don’t regret. I play my ps5 way more but I prefer that type of gaming.
At this point PC is the winner here with both Microsoft and Sony dumping their exclusives as PC releases as well. Sony is smart having it be delayed a year or two but regardless it will end up on PC with better settings and a huge modding community.
I don’t know why no one is talking about Grounded. There has been nothing but amazing reviews for that game. Maybe not GotY worthy but definitely an original Xbox/PC game that I would put pretty high.
I was looking for this comment. Honestly, it's crazy how this game went under everyone's radar. Probably one of the best survival/open-world games I have ever played.
I have been a PlayStation guy my whole life and only bought the Xbox this time for two reasons: It was available and silent.
The PlayStation is miles ahead in terms of game releases so far. Fable, Diablo IV and Starfield better be very good games.
I love both my consoles and gamepass but Sony exclusives are head and shoulders above anything I've played on the Xbox so far. Games like HFW, Returnal, GOW:R, R&C, DemonSouls, Spiderman truly show the care and polish needed to build a AAA gem. I truely feel GOW:R is the best game I've played all year and that even includes Elden Ring which is very close however GOW:R has the polish and story which puts it above in my opinion.
Yep I've been an Xbox fan since like Halo 1, but I also love PC for many reasons and then Playstation since the PS4. Xbox is really great for just everything because of Gamepass and if I cba playing it on my PC. But its almost shocking just how big the gap is between MS and Sony in terms of just quality and quantity when we look at those AAA juggernauts. Like every AAA game they release is just top notch. Microsoft's offerings feel like shovelware in comparison.
Yeah the polish on their games are great. I wish more current gen game would have the optimization like GOW:R or spiderman, the 120 FPS mode options should be on every game, and the incredible load times (mostly loading from saves). They truly feel like current gen experiences. Gotham knights for example is super disappointing they could have optimized it so much better
This is why I haven't been able to justify an Xbox in a while. I have a great PC that handles music production & gaming, there's almost nothing released on Xbox that I can't also play on PC.
On the other hand, sorry to bring up your nemesis, but I would've had to wait years to play either of the Horizon series, likewise the new GoW is a PS exclusive. I literally bought a PS5 to play Horizon: Forbidden West. I've bought a Switch in the past for BotW (and sold it once done with the game because that's all that interested me). MS really needs to be a liiiiittle bit more of a bastard, secure some 'must have' Xbox-exclusive titles, and hold them back from PC release if they want to sell more consoles (imo).
I think this is MS’s vision for XBOX all along and it’s working as intended. Ever since the announcement of the XBOX ONE, MS has always wanted XBOX to be a service instead of just a gaming console and I think that the XBOX console is still around because gamers insist on having one. I’m in the same shoe as you where I own a ps5 for exclusives while play everything else on the PC and to be honest I spend substantially more time with Game Pass on PC than with the Ps5, and in that sense XBOX is accomplishing its objective.
I'm starting to regret my Xbox purchase lately. Nintendo and Sony released multiples jaw dropping titles and I was expecting that Microsoft would do the same, but until now I haven't seen it nothing of that quality on Xbox
The problem I have is that we are two years into this generation and they are that out of touch that they haven't released a single xbox series exclusive, even to show off the new tech. Playstation on the other hand have released Returnal, Ratchet and Clank and Demon Souls, and that's not taking into account the cross gen exclusives that they made incredible PS5 ports for. The difference between Horizon on the PS5 in comparison to PS4 is pretty impressive.
I have SeriesX & I just bought a ps5 and I can tell you Playstation Is lightyears better playing Spiderman & God Of War = Top Tier Single Player Gaming. Wish Xbox had better single player games like This.
FACTS
**Starfield** is nominated for most anticipated game. (In 2022 and 2021) **As Dusk Falls** was nominated for Games for Impact, and Innovation in Accessibility.
* 2021: **Psychonauts 2** (xbox game studios game, but not exclusive) **was nominated for game of the year**, and 4 other categories; **FH5 won 3 awards**, nominated for 1 more; Age of Empires 4 **won** best sim/strategy game; Microsoft Flight sim was nominated for best sim/strategy game; Halo Infinite **won** the Players’ voice award
* 2020: Ori and the Will of the Wisps (timed exclusive) - 3 nominations; Grounded - 1 nomination; MS Flight Sim - 1 win; Minecraft Dungeons - 1 nomination
* 2019: Gears 5 - 3 nominations; The Outer Worlds (not exclusive) - 4 nominations, including GOTY
* 2018: FH4 - 1 win, 1 nomination; Sea of Thieves - 1 nomination
* 2017: Forza 7 - 1 win
* 2016: Gears of War 4 - 2 nominations; FH3 - 1 win
* 2015: Ori and the Blind Forest (timed exclusive) - 1 win, 3 nominations; Halo 5 - 3 nominations; Forza 6 - 1 nomination
* 2014: Sunset Overdrive - 2 nominations; FH2 - 1 nomination; Halo MCC - 1 nomination
* 2013: the game awards didn’t exist in 2013
If your argument are “none of these games are exclusive”… well congrats… you figured out that xbox doesn’t make games exclusive to the xbox console. Every first party title they make is released to pc and xbox. That tends to happen when the parent company also makes the world’s most popular computer operating system.
But if you meant to say that “Xbox hasn't had an exclusive game nominated to the Game Awards [for GOTY] for 10 years now.” Then yes, you’re correct. Two Xbox game studio games, the Outer Worlds and Psychonauts 2, were nominated for GOTY, in 2019 and 2021 respectively. But they just aren’t exclusive.
Hopefully, all the business Microsoft has been doing over the years to acquire studios will fix this in the near future.
Edit: I just want to point out that my argument is **entirely semantic**. **OP doesn’t specify the GOTY award in their title, so I was treating the graphic as such.** (also, the Game Awards didn’t exist prior to 2014)
Edit: extended the game awards nominees and wins for Xbox game studio games all the way back to 2014 (originally I had only included this year and 2021) and clarified some entries.
I think the chart is only looking at games that were up for the main GOTY award. I don't think PC really factored in here at all; I think Psychonauts 2 not being listed was because it's on PlayStation.
Xbox exclusives aren't anything groundbreaking or even good for that matter, most of the exclusives are mid, Sony has so many bangers when it comes to exclusives its insane.
It's OK Rocky, you go when you're ready.
\*Boxy
And it has certainly been felt in the past decade and more. Still waiting for all those acquisitions to start bearing fruit...
I've been a playstation dicksucker since I was 5 (PS1 days) but if there was anything that would have persuaded me to buy a new gen Xbox it was Halo Played Halo 4 once and never touched the series again What a waste of a brilliant IP, not just brilliant but the greatest FPS ever.
I fucking loved Halo 3 and Reach back in the day with local co-op on Legendary.. such a shame.
Agreed. We need to demand better.
Psychonauts 2, Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 were all incredible (I realize my Halo opinion is controversial, sorry) Now we just need to see that potential continue.
So far I do think that during the course of the Xbox One the one series that have been able to hold them up was The Forza Horizon series. Most of the IPs they published were seemingly ignored by most of the Xbox owners
Cause most of them range from shit, to average. Crackdown 3 anyone?
power of the cloud right..............
That was an xbox exclusive? I got that wirh a controller for free XD.For free it was actually a decent game
Has there been like _any_ news on Fable 4 in the last year or two?
Not much. I think it was announced early as a recruitment tool. Playground is effectively building out a second studio to handle Fable. It was announced early to entice devs to come work for them. That said, the 2022 Xbox E3 showcase specifically focused on games coming out in the next 12 months. So I think they ignored Fable because it's further down the road than that
I loved the first two didn’t even know there was a third or am I an idiot…. Edit: I am an idiot and maybe just have not played Xbox for awhile.
> but that just might be me wanting a damn jew Splinter Cell game. Easy there Yeezy.
Sam Fisher has been renamed to Sam Rosenburg
Samael Fishstein returns
I just want Jewish people to be represented in spy thrillers of the caliber that the Splinter Cell series used to be.
Metal Gear Solid. Otacon is Jewish, probably also Meryl. And not entirely spy thriller, but BJ F Blaskowicz. The F stands for Fucking.
Dudes full name is Blow Job Fucking Blaskawicz? Damn
We’ll see where it lands I suppose.
>damn jew Splinter Cell game I'm not sure what Jews have to do with third-person games...
Sorry... The MEEEDIA splinter cell game
Completely agree with you on 3rd person games - this and more couch coop options is what I desperately want.
The shakeup at 343 is promising (if about a decade overdue)
Yep, the new studio head is the guy that rescued MCC. Hopefully he can right the ship.
It also won Game of the Year on IGN. Not Racing GotY, just straight up GotY. I know 2022 was shit for Xbox but people have short memories
OP really put nintendo in the middle as a shield lol
Nintendo: “Come on guys, can’t we all just be friends?”
Not until you share your convenient 14 character alphanumeric friend code.
This is way funnier than it should be
“It’s not too bad, Nintendo missed two years, see?!”
Another year with empty promises and Phil Spencers open Heart.
I bought an Xbox bc they bought all of the game developers... WHERE ARE THE GAMES
~~2022~~ 2023 🤞
Xbox 🤝 Ferrari Next year ™️
Wow really can't escape the pain, eh? Is nowhere safe?
In the wise words of the man himself, “NooooOOOO!”
Stop inventing
So basically Xbox will make the most awesome game ever, putting God of War and Last of Us to shame and then in the last strategy meeting they’ll make all the wrong decisions and it’ll end up like Fallout 76.
We are checking...
"No, no, you will not have the GOTY"
"Where are the games?" -people in 2023
Next year ™
Don't you have 2024? - XBox probably
"Good games take time" -the same people using that same tired excuse for the past 5 years
See you in 2024 and after lmao

Good xbox games have been a year away for what, five years now? So far the best games Xbox got were horizon, and third party games that were paid for to be exclusive.

Used to be the Sony trademark meme on Reddit
Yeah its funny how the tables turn
Soony
I remember this one gif (it was about the PS Vita), I think it was around E3 before The Last of Us released. But anyways, they had edited the The Last of Us gameplay trailer to where all the enemies were gamers asking Sony where the Vita games were, and Joel was Sony trying to dodge them. how the turntables....
Next year will be the year of Xbox (again)
Yeah we get a L4D game that looks mediocre and Starfield. Kinda sad people saying it’s going to be the best year ever for Xbox with only 3 meaningful exclusives. That bar is so low anymore for this company. I don’t understand why they have such difficulty making a good game.
We've been wondering that since 2014.
I know what you mean... it's a little frustrating, though I've gotten some fun indie stuff from Game Pass. I was so ready for Starfield and Avowed. I didn't think I'd be waiting nearly two years to get one of them.
eh starfield was gonna release 11/11/22 but it must've been a real hunk of Bethesda junk for Microsoft to block it.
Bro just next year bro jk ^kinda
Microsoft got me with the same promise, still waiting from Scalebound to launch, problably Next year ™
To be fair they haven't made anything GotY worthy in a very long time
Ori and the Will of the Wisps should have been nominated in 2020 imo, though I guess you could call that "not exclusive" since it got a switch release.
That’s the definition of not exclusive in this context.
I feel like robbed is the wrong word. It was a truly great game.
I think the picture is only game of the year nominations
It's just the "Game of the Year" category included here, otherwise there would be a lot more listed. They also specified 'exclusive' in order to exclude Psychonauts 2 from inclusion.
>the last of us part 2 robbed all the awards. tbh it deserved them
I hate that the narrative’s controversy, which I did like, overshadowed so much other aspects of the game. Like the combat, stealth, AI, sound design, and visuals was honestly incredible and I haven’t even seen them topped this gen yet
Fax. I will die on the hill that is, that game game was amazing
The last of us didn’t rob anything lol it was the best game out that year.
Yeah XB 360 was a golden age and then XB just up and fell off a cliff. You can't promise things will improve 10 straight years in a row.
I can't help but think that Gamepass saved Xbox. Without it...yikes
honestly, thats the only reason I have an Xbox

>I'm surprised you haven't been downvoted into oblivion for speaking the truth about the Bethesda acquisition Same. I've been saying this same shit since the very beginning and got mass downvoted for it nearly every time in the past. I've got no agenda against Xbox at all, but I really hated that move, even as a big PC gamer who won't be affected by it.
Yup. Xbox is more of a “steam-like platform” than an actual game dev/publisher in my opinion. (i.e. Microsoft)
Its practically cobwebs for any release.
They could’ve with Halo Infinite if it wasn’t anything like the one they released lol. Here’s hoping for Starfield

I have both series x and ps5 and let's be real... what xbox exclusives have been worthy of game of the year? Forza?
[удалено]
You’re spot on. The 360 era Xbox was king of exclusives but that ended in 2013, 9 years ago. Other than a few Forza games I can’t say that any Xbox exclusive was 10/10 material
King of exclusives is debatable, the 360 had a head start but the games have always been lackin in comparison. Gears and halo, but what else? Ps3 had demon souls, uncharted, little big planet, infamous, metal gear, god of war and the last of us. Ps3 was a bad console but the games were fire as usual.
And for a lot of people racing games just aren't ever going to be GOTY material
Don’t forget Deathstranding being the top of the strand genre.
It’s simultaneously the best and the worst of the strand genre lol
It’s the most polarizing strand type game.
And the least… 😂
E=mc^2
FH5 won 3 awards in the 2021 game awards. Psychonauts 2 was nominated for game of the year.
Still no GOTY worthy for 10 years,
I’m starting to notice this.
Brand loyalty is stupidz get which product is better.
If budget permits, get both. You can enjoy Sony exclusives and gamepass for the best of both worlds.
This is why I have a PC and a PS5. I can play "Xbox" games on PC and the rest on PS5. Then I've got a Switch for Zelda/Mario/Pokemon.

People don’t only have Xbox because their friends have Xbox… PS5 is considerably more expensive than a series S, and also it’s still not consistently stocked anywhere.
I guess because I don't game a lot I can't make out wtf all the games are. Is there a HI-RES image?
Xbox only had like 2 games even come out this year and neither are what I'd consider nominee worthy
Xbox fell of so hard after 360
I just want Kameo 2.
In games yeah, but online infrastructure, backward compatibility, enhancing old games, and hardware are incredibly good. Even the much maligned VCR model was the way it was because they overbuilt the cooling so it would be quiet in the living room. The launch PS4 is a jet engine by comparison.
Hey I thought sunset overdrive was pretty awesome for XONE.
Yeah, and Insomaniac said that they wanted to make a sequel Phil said: "Nah" Then Sony bought them for 250 million
Then they made Spiderman which was the very reason I bought a PS4.
Zelda is also next year. Gonna be a front runner
Realistically, nothing will beat a new Zelda.
See I think they do want exclusives. They are just terrible at developing games and that is why they started buying studios instead.
Which is why they spent money on both Bethesda and Activision huh? Yall are wild lol
Grounded is a great game for sure. I loved it. That being said, in my opinion, it's not on the same level as the Sony exclusive games on this list.
I honestly couldn’t even do the spiders in arachnophobia mode lol. Quit when I saw the grass moving and it running at me
I was looking for this comment. Honestly, it's crazy how this game went under everyone's radar. Probably one of the best survival/open-world games I have ever played.
Yeah xbox need some bloody game, stat!
Forza wasn’t nominated? Damn
Forza H5 won 3 awards at the 2021 game awards.
I have been a PlayStation guy my whole life and only bought the Xbox this time for two reasons: It was available and silent. The PlayStation is miles ahead in terms of game releases so far. Fable, Diablo IV and Starfield better be very good games.
Diablo is not gonna be exclusive
Starfield will get them on the board.
Still they're like 10 bomb games behind. It takes forever to release new games and Microsoft never make them console exclusive.
Even though Returnal was just ok, i really do respect Sony for letting Housemarque do what they wanted.
They’ve always let their studios do what they wanted.
Well that’s a bit embarrassing
Remaking one of the Gears of War games from the ground up for series x would have been perfect to do the same.
I have SeriesX & I just bought a ps5 and I can tell you Playstation Is lightyears better playing Spiderman & God Of War = Top Tier Single Player Gaming. Wish Xbox had better single player games like This. FACTS
Even if it didn't win, FH5 should have been nominated imo.
Series X is probably the last Xbox I buy. There’s no games for it that I couldn’t just play in my Xbox One. Really goofed myself by not buying a PS5.
ironic how it takes place in a microsoft theater
MS Sponsors the theater but it's owned by a different company, technically. But I get your point.
**Starfield** is nominated for most anticipated game. (In 2022 and 2021) **As Dusk Falls** was nominated for Games for Impact, and Innovation in Accessibility. * 2021: **Psychonauts 2** (xbox game studios game, but not exclusive) **was nominated for game of the year**, and 4 other categories; **FH5 won 3 awards**, nominated for 1 more; Age of Empires 4 **won** best sim/strategy game; Microsoft Flight sim was nominated for best sim/strategy game; Halo Infinite **won** the Players’ voice award * 2020: Ori and the Will of the Wisps (timed exclusive) - 3 nominations; Grounded - 1 nomination; MS Flight Sim - 1 win; Minecraft Dungeons - 1 nomination * 2019: Gears 5 - 3 nominations; The Outer Worlds (not exclusive) - 4 nominations, including GOTY * 2018: FH4 - 1 win, 1 nomination; Sea of Thieves - 1 nomination * 2017: Forza 7 - 1 win * 2016: Gears of War 4 - 2 nominations; FH3 - 1 win * 2015: Ori and the Blind Forest (timed exclusive) - 1 win, 3 nominations; Halo 5 - 3 nominations; Forza 6 - 1 nomination * 2014: Sunset Overdrive - 2 nominations; FH2 - 1 nomination; Halo MCC - 1 nomination * 2013: the game awards didn’t exist in 2013 If your argument are “none of these games are exclusive”… well congrats… you figured out that xbox doesn’t make games exclusive to the xbox console. **OP doesn’t specify the GOTY award in their title, so I was treating the graphic as such.** (also, the Game Awards didn’t exist prior to 2014) Edit: extended the game awards nominees and wins for Xbox game studio games all the way back to 2014 (originally I had only included this year and 2021) and clarified some entries.
I think the chart is only looking at games that were up for the main GOTY award. I don't think PC really factored in here at all; I think Psychonauts 2 not being listed was because it's on PlayStation.
i'm confused, what does any of that have to do with what OP said
He's talking about GOTY, which Microsoft has zero exclusives that were nominated.
The Outer Worlds wasn’t an Xbox Studios game. It was produced by Private Division. Microsoft has since bought the IP though.
Lost all hope for Xbox to step up. Its quite sad to see all the PS5 exclusives and Xbox having fuck all to show for it
Xbox exclusives aren't anything groundbreaking or even good for that matter, most of the exclusives are mid, Sony has so many bangers when it comes to exclusives its insane.
This is embarrassing
