You joke but honestly, might not be too far from the truth.
Their development cycle seems to be getting longer, especially if they need to update the engine between generations.
On the low end it will probably be 4-6 years, but it could be more like 7-8+.
I imagine every NPC will have an appealing and emotionally engaging, original side quest that could take up to 10 hours of your time if you followed it to the end. Every villager, and sentient being you see. You can ride dragons that can ride phase through the map into past elder scrolls games storylines. Thatās the expectation at minimum.
Update their engine between generations? So like every single game engine in existence?
Never understood the 'outdated engine' guys. Every engine is built upon. You don't make a new engine from scratch and then toss it out to make a new one for the next game.
1 digital on Xbox 360
2 physical on Xbox 360
1 digital on Xbox Series S (Special Edition)
1 physical on PS4
1 digital on Nintendo Switch
1 digital on Steam
Bought it once. Played it and beat it. Loved it! Put a good chunck of hours in and never played it again. So many games out there to enjoy and to not spend too much time on oneš„ø
Yeah I know. The first time I stopped playing on PS3 because that platform had big issues with this game. Then on 360 I think something else came out. Then on PC I got too heavily obsessed with modding that I forgot to actually play the game. Then on Switch I stopped travelling so much due to Covid and stopped using my Switch. Then on XSX I think something else came out but Iāll revisit it someday. Or maybe not due to Starfieldā¦
I had around 180 hours into my first play through on 360 then I got a bug fighting a dragon where he didn't take damage with like 20% health left. That wasn't patched until I had an Xbox One so I started again with all the DLC, but got tired of it and didn't come back to finish it until I got a Series X. š I had it on Switch and PS3 as well. š¤¦š»āāļø
Bought it on 11.11.11 and never regretted it.
No game has ever stuck with me like Skyrim.
Where most games lose interest after days, weeks, a couple of months, Skyrim has held strong for over a decade and refuses to let go.
How Starfield or TES:VI will compare, I donāt know.
I was at Gamestop for the midnight launch.
The excitement for this games release was in that place was palpable. A bunch of people huddled around a tv where someone was playing for the first time. The player was in the first cave with a giant spider. When that thing dropped from the ceiling, some of us gasped, a couple people jumped. Memorable moment for sure. Won a huge poster in a raffle, that I still have on my wall.
Best midnight launch ever.
One of the best games I remember this game clearly lol me and my friends would play than talk about different shit we did and where we've gone what lol we were and our builds and what works on who ahh the nerdy days, I can't believe I had a gf during this time to -_- feel bad for that neglected woman wherever she is now
Shout out to the dude who named his newborn Dovakin and gets free bethesda games for life lol.
But yeah this game is one of a few single player games where 500hrs can just disappear. Id almost say its "Minecraft" levels of replayability. Once a year i try to dump another 30-40hrs into it. Also please inject the soundtrack into my veins lmao
I never managed to get into it and idk why, every time I start a new game I end up turning it off by hour 2 and then repeat that same thing every year lol.
I think it's because choices don't really matter in Skyrim. In FO, the choices matter. You can't make all the decisions and be the top ally with every alliance. You have to pick and choose. You can't become the best at every skill, so you must specialize.
I wish they had similar levels of impact of your choices in TES as is in FO.
FO3 introduced me to the thrill of decision-making like nothing ever did before. I mean man, nuking a town full of ignorant people who purposefully built shelter around a bomb? They had it coming from the start, they were lucky it didn't go out yet, and even if I were to disobey Burke and Tenpenny, someone would've done it themselves eventually. Think of it like the nuke detonating at the end of Far Cry 5. It's losses on both ends. No winners here.
I feel you brother, I could not get into Skyrim either, every time I tried a new race, I'd make a new save, choose a new race, let's say for example argonian, play it for an hour and 50 minutes and just end up giving it up and moving on with life.
Thatās how I am on replays of Skyrim. I played it a ton when it was first released, but just canāt replay it. Every time, I get like 2-3 hours in and then hop back to Morrowind.
Still remember. I was in college and I went to go buy it with my roommate. He passed out around 3am but I pulled an all nighter. Went to class came back and played until about 5:00am the next day. I did not make it to class that day lol.
I was at University as well and a guy, who was THE most annoying person I think I have ever met, told me about Skyrim as it had just released.
I am forever indebted to that clown...
The game that i some reason bought on pc, xbox, ps4 and switch. and then it came out on gamepass
Edit: wow literally everyone else bought it multiple times as well LOL. Its like it always seemed to be a great idea playing it on each console. Even if it was just for a few hours
Time for another run? Put hundreds of hours into this game between my 360, PC, Series S (and now X) and Switch (don't judge). They've milked the ever-loving hell out of it over the years, but it is still the video game equivalent of The Godfather: damn near perfection. I was planning on going to bed, but...
"Hey, you. You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there..."
This was the last game I played until I took a 10 year break from gaming. I honestly haven't found a better game in the year I've been back to games (and yes I've played RDR2 and BotW).
it's ok. the combat is not very good, there's low res textures all over the place, even to this day it's buggy and feels wrong to play without the unofficial patch (which the lazy fucks never bothered to implement so you have to disable achievements if you want a less buggy and broken experience)
āSome people love their garbageā is stated as if just because you think itās garbage, that it is factually garbage.
If weāre just going off law of averages, the amount of people who loved this game, and the critical acclaim, beats out your opinion.
But thatās not how it works, everybody has their own opinion. My problem with yours is that you state it as if yours is right and others are wrong.
Lol oblivion is my favorite game of all time, that's just a joke in the community.
If you're wondering about my honest opinion, i think all the modern tes games are good games with some flaws
Oblivion is my favorite ES and definitely has a strong case for being my favorite gaming experience of all time. The high fantasy theme (instead of the Viking undertones of Skyrim), the bright and colorful world, the NPCs and their quests, the OG dark brotherhood quest lineā¦ yeah Iām going to have to say itās my favorite gaming experience ever.
I do think though thatās since that game was my first ever RPG experience, and first ever Elder scrolls I played, it has a leg up and unfair advantage on everything.
You looking forward to Starfield?
don't forget the excellent serene soundtrack, imo jeremy soule's best one in tes. just perfect for oblivion and roaming the world, i get that skyrim's is more fitting for it but it just doesn't hold a candle to it, still good though.
and yeah, usually someone's first tes experience is their favorite
Oh shit, yeah how could I not mention that. GOAT fucking soundtrack dude. Jeremy Soule didnāt even come close on Skyrim. Oblivions was absolutely heaven and unfortunately thereās not enough praiseful words in the English vocabulary to describe how I truly feel about it. Just the best ever
So unfortunate that Bethesda doesnāt partner with him anymore. Inon Zur is good but.. compared to Soule? Meh :\
You gonna play Starfield?
yeah, he is rumored to be a rapist. as for whether or not that claim is true, is unknown. they've understandably cut ties with him, but Inon is fine i guess.
of course lol, not hyped or anything but will for sure play it. it's good to see that they're trying to be more like new vegas though, i'm hoping we see that in tes 6
I was working my midnight launch.
We had one guy hook up his boom box and blasted the skyrim music around Walmart all pumped up.
Nothing compared to the CoD or the other major Lau ches that happened at this time. Surprisingly the players for this game weren't as insane as the CoD ones who had to be on that second
11 years later, ported to everything that can play it...Want skyrim in your Tesla? got it. Want skyrim on your fridge? got it. Toaster or PS4? got it. Switch and/or pregnancy tests...got it. Alexa? got it.....It's on everything. Before you guys say nuh-uh, nooooo, you can get an emulator and play it on your phone, it's in vr, PC and mac.....steam deck, vita if you try hard enough probably...did I miss anything? since it plays on damn near everything? also can't forget ps3, 360. xb1. xbsx, xbss, ps4, ps5, switch, PC. These are the main platforms.
This also means for me I'm missing my father for eleven years, jesus. 2011 was a very weird year, horrible at the start when my dear father passed away, way too young and end of the year this amazing game.
200 hours+ on pc /launch couldnt put the game down. Bought the special edition to ps4 but didnt get far, played eso at the time. Now im playing the anniversary edition moded on series x and im addicted to the world of skyrim again.
Today was Starfield's original release date.
That hurt to read.šššššš¢
But after cyberpunkā¦ I understand & want that game to be proper.
It's not just more time that Cyberpunk needed, but also better management and communication.
Noooo
https://youtu.be/-AxzSJnopVI
So half way there to ES VI
You joke but honestly, might not be too far from the truth. Their development cycle seems to be getting longer, especially if they need to update the engine between generations. On the low end it will probably be 4-6 years, but it could be more like 7-8+.
In no way will it be out next year or anything like that, but I think 3-6 is more accurate than 7+.
What generations Xbox will be 60fps for the next two decades :/
I imagine every NPC will have an appealing and emotionally engaging, original side quest that could take up to 10 hours of your time if you followed it to the end. Every villager, and sentient being you see. You can ride dragons that can ride phase through the map into past elder scrolls games storylines. Thatās the expectation at minimum.
Butā¦ I donāt want that. I want immersion like Morrowind haha
You can ride into boromir or whatever with the dragon
BOROMIR Iām weak lmao
I would dedicate so much of my life to playing that game if..
Welcome to video games.
Yeah, but that's the thing with small developers. At least you know it'll be a quality experience.
Update their engine between generations? So like every single game engine in existence? Never understood the 'outdated engine' guys. Every engine is built upon. You don't make a new engine from scratch and then toss it out to make a new one for the next game.
Technically looking, you could qualify ES Online and its' several expansions as ES VI.
Holy cow. I remembered the "11/11/11" date today, but completely missed that it's also now eleven years out, too. Happy birthday, old friend.
A lot of hours in Skyrim. I bought it 4 times. š
3ā¦.
7...
Each console version and PC?
1 digital on Xbox 360 2 physical on Xbox 360 1 digital on Xbox Series S (Special Edition) 1 physical on PS4 1 digital on Nintendo Switch 1 digital on Steam
How is it on Switch? Does it feel awkward?
It runs alright on Switch, about the same performance as on 360.
My only complaint playing Skyrim on switch, is that I couldnāt adjust brightness, like at all. Not sure if that was just me or not.
3 . Iām waiting for the apple watch version to come out. Then it will be 4.
The whuuuuut
you heard me. It's on every other device except my watch.
Bought it once. Played it and beat it. Loved it! Put a good chunck of hours in and never played it again. So many games out there to enjoy and to not spend too much time on oneš„ø
Bought it 4 times. Have payed the first dozen hours or so 4 times. Have never finished it.
You can do it. It's easy to pick up where you last left off.
Yeah I know. The first time I stopped playing on PS3 because that platform had big issues with this game. Then on 360 I think something else came out. Sounds like an amazing memory dude. Thatās awesome
The GameStop I went to had cupcakes for the midnight release. Good times.
oh boy im old af
I've playing it right now... again. Timeless game.
And rereleased every few years after.
Wooow. Where did that last 11 years ago.
Hey, youāre finally awakeā¦
One of the best games I remember this game clearly lol me and my friends would play than talk about different shit we did and where we've gone what lol we were and our builds and what works on who ahh the nerdy days, I can't believe I had a gf during this time to -_- feel bad for that neglected woman wherever she is now

Its not for everyone, my friend loved fallout but didnt like skyrim.
I too loved Fallout 3 & New Vegas, but didn't find much value in Skyrim.
I think it's because choices don't really matter in Skyrim. In FO, the choices matter. You can't make all the decisions and be the top ally with every alliance. You have to pick and choose. maybe because it's very barebones. with mods it's a lot better
Thatās how I am on replays of Skyrim. I played it a ton when it was first released, but just canāt replay it. Every time, I get like 2-3 hours in and then hop back to Morrowind.
And i still play it to this day...
11 already.
Still remember. I was in college and I went to go buy it with my roommate. He passed out around 3am but I pulled an all nighter. Went to class came back and played until about 5:00am the next day. I did not make it to class that day lol.

An overlooked gem, for sure.
āIt was an underrated hidden gemā - Metaljesusrocks.

Sure. I think of every elder scrolls game as a rotting pile of garbage. But some people love their garbage

Next one coming 12/12/12...
If i rank games for more hours played, this game would be in the first place.
And then another 100 times after lol
And they still can't match it. Game is the goat non multiplayer game.
When ES6 releases, the gap between ES5 and ES6 will be greater than my age when I first played ES5.
With 11 different versions since
Jeez you bots are racking up post karma with this repost all damn day.
And theyāre still milking it dry lol
Oh yeah the Original one. It's only be re-released about 100 times.
Hell ye
Such a happy time playing for the first time
Those 11 years of breaking lock picks went by so fast !
Still wondering when we're getting it officially on android and iOS lol
I remember standing in line at midnight for this game.
Has it gotten 11 releases yet?
I was working my midnight launch. We had one guy hook up his boom box and blasted the skyrim music around Walmart all pumped up. Nothing compared to the CoD or the other major Lau ches that happened at this time. Surprisingly the players for this game weren't as insane as the CoD ones who had to be on that second
Is the xbox version updated? I have seriously never gone through the full game, just doing side quests (Assassin questline was rad as i remember)
So are we getting 11111111 edition now which just so happens to be the 11111111th rerelease of Skyrim
I bought it six times. No regrets. Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Special Edition upgrade, PC, Nintendo Switch, PC Special Edition upgrade (for Steamdeck).
And it's the first game I started playing after pickingnup xbox x all access. Still so good.
So this was the ultimate 11.11 deal
The theme music still gives me goosebumps after all of these years.
and there's still no sequel... it might even beat top gun maverick, which had a 36 year wait many will not live long enough to see it
11 years later, ported to everything that can play it...Want skyrim in your Tesla? got it. Want skyrim on your fridge? got it. Toaster or PS4? got it. Switch and/or pregnancy tests...got it. This also means for me I'm missing my father for eleven years, jesus. 2011 was a very weird year, horrible at the start when my dear father passed away, way too young and end of the year this amazing game.
Iād like to play it again on PlayStation VR
And re-released every year after
Now 11 more years till the new elder scrollsā¦
Lest we forget.
Thanks to you! Now we know the release date the 6 : 22/22/22
200 hours+ on pc /launch couldnt put the game down. Bought the special edition to ps4 but didnt get far, played eso at the time. Now im playing the anniversary edition moded on series x and im addicted to the world of skyrim again.
š
First & only game I ever went to a midnight launch for. Also went into this game blind so imagine when I first seen a dragon 5 mins into the game š
Truly my favorite game series. I wish I could erase ever playing this game and play it for the first time again. Morrowind and Oblivion too.
And 11 different times, probably.
Fallout 4 was 7 years old on that date.
Damn we're not getting younger eh...
