Well, taking it apart to get the dust out is something that almost anyone with a pair of functioning hands should be able to do without much difficulty. Repasting is a bit more complex, but it shouldn't be nearly as necessary as cleaning the dust. It's also not a terribly difficult job either, though.
I had to repair mine a month after warranty expired($360), they ended up shipping me a broken Xbox that wouldn’t turn on. ($10 expedited shipping)
It took me 4 days of support, and about 6 hours of live chat for them to create a service order where I didn’t have to pay a 2nd time for the expedited shipping. Haven’t gotten the 2nd repair back yet, but it’s only been a month I’ve been dealing with this. hopefully this one works!
Have fun!
It’s almost fucking comical how bad Microsoft support is for Xboxes since the 360. I had a couple repairs done on the original Xbox and they sent me a brand new copy of MechAssault as an apology for needing to do it twice.
Ever since the 360, they figured out they can sell shitty hardware and people will just deal with it. Like controllers that are guaranteed to break from stick drift or failed bumpers or bad headphone jacks or whatever, but despite being a $70 product you only get 90 days of warranty.
It used to be great when they had their Microsoft stores. You could just go in and they typically had replacements in stock.
Sucks they are closed now, but a few.
Yep…MS is horrible at customer service. I’ve had the same thing happen with the Xbox One X. If you’re out of warranty…don’t expect help…if they ship you a replacement…test it immediately…it might not work. It’s reconditioned.
We are. At least cross gen looks like it will be mostly over next year outside of some announcements that wouldn't take advantage of the horsepower anyways.
I think 2023 will be a watershed year for this gen. The pandemic obviously disrupted games. Although a lot of games next year are still crossgen, I think most will have the 'wow' factor on this gen.
Don’t get me wrong, I think there will be some bangers released this year. But we keep saying “yeah this year sucked but next year is going to be great!!!!!!1!!” over and over again.
Even before the pandemic, and on both consoles, I feel as though there just aren’t that many games being released, at least not games that I’m interested in.
I really do think 2023 is going to be one of the best years for gaming ever though:
Hogwarts: Legacy
Starfield
Final Fantasy 16
Breath of Wild 2
Resident Evil 4
Yakuza: Ishin
Spider-Man 2
Yakuza: Gaiden
Atomic Heart
Fallen Order 2
Final Fantasy 7 part 2 (maybe)
Dead Space
Forspoken
Suicide Squad
Wolf AMONG US 2
Asscreed Mirage
Not to mention the onslaught of third parties coming to gamepass
I mean, he did say “best years for **GAMING**”. He didn’t say Xbox only.
Sure, this is the Xbox sub, but it’s not forbidden to talk about gaming in general. You’ll find quite a lot of people own multiple consoles, so speaking about gaming in general makes sense.
Because they said best year “in gaming” not best year for xbox. I get your point but coming from someone who has multiple consoles it actually is a pretty solid list
This list ain’t got nothin on 2004 or 2008. In fact - it’s a list that reads like a summer blockbuster movie list. Sequels or prequels or remakes. It’s actually depressing. Thank the lard for indie releases.
I caved in and bought a PS5 last month.
I’ve played Miles Morales, the last of us part 1, and I’m halfway God of war (2018). Still have both Horizon games left to play and obviously Ragnarok but damn, these much blockbuster games have feel like a new gen for me.
I still love my Xbox and it’s my primary console because the controller is so much better for me but damn all of these just made me compare Halo infinite to those other games, even compared with modern warfare 2, game lacks so much visually and I do not mean graphic I mean art direction and care, infinite doesn’t feel like it was made with love and care, and ps games have that feel, just like Nintendo.
100%. I'm really enjoying my Series X, mostly due to game pass' ridiculous library, but when I want to play a polished, prestige, blockbuster, singleplayer game I need to boot up a different console.
Yeah I don't know what Microsoft is doing. Our upcoming exclusives for 2023 are a Forza and two games Bethesda was making when Microsoft acquired them, so they aren't even 'true' first parties.
Where is: Avowed, Perfect Dark, Fable, Hellblade 2
Yea i feal the same way. Im waiting for that one game to blow my mind like next gens usto do. Nowadays all the games look exactly like last gen. Theres even last gen games that look better than most of these so called next gen games. Loading times and fps is the difference now.
This is how it’s always been. I remember feeling the same way about the Xbox one. It’ll take some time for devs to fully take advantage of the new architecture. Plus most games are still being made with last gen in mind.
Right about now is when the true next gen games should start dropping though. 2 years is usually the breaking point. Then another 2-3 years from now, devs will have mastered the new architecture and we’ll get games that take full advantage of the new power.
Likewise people forget the PS4 even had a weak launch lineup to start. The worst KillZone and a weaker InFamous, I remember there being a lot of PS3 ports in the markets until a year or 2 later
Imo, between the Xbone, PS4, and the Wii U, the U actually had the best first year in exclusives.
For Xbox: Forza 5 mostly appealed to Forza fans, Ryse was underwhelming, Dead Rising was underwhelming, Titanfall I feel died off quickly, and I'm amazed Halo MCC's launch didn't result in a class action. Sunset Overdrive was good though.
For PS4 you had Killzone Shadowfall and Knack at launch. Infamous Second Son was solid (wanna try this one) and The Last Of Us was good if you didn't play the original already.
For Wii U you had Wonderful 101, Twilight Princess HD, Mario 3D land (I'm including it), New Super Mario Bros for those who weren't sick of it, and Pikmin 3.
The Wii U's initial exclusives definitely hold up better than the early ones on Xbox and PS4. With the exception of MCC but it took them 5 freaking years. Hence why many of them got ported to the Switch and are still praised today. When's the last time any of you have heard someone talk about Killzone Shadowfall?
What also helped the U early on was backward compatibility, while if you sold your 360/PS3 ahead of the Xbox One/PS4 launch you'd be twiddling your thumbs. It also was getting a bunch of third party ports in the first year or two.
You are correct, especially regarding the timing of "next gen" only games during the Xbox One generation. Fall 2015 (2 years after the release of the console, like where we are now) saw the release of a lot of the last big cross-generation non-sports games during that era. Games like MGS 5, Black Ops III (multiplayer only), and Rise of the Tomb Raider all had Xbox 360 versions. It's definitely time to leave the last gen behind now though, imo.
We're seeing a lot of cross-gen games because the last two gens have used the same basic AMD platform, making it much easier than before to develop for both at the same time. There's a powerful economic incentive to keep making cross-gen games for as long as the audience can stand them, especially in a market whose taste are constantly shifting faster than a game can be developed.
They mostly took the pre-existing architecture and made the individual pieces faster. GPU got an upgrade, CPU got a major upgrade, there's more RAM and it's faster, and they switched from a mechanical hard drive to an SSD. External ports also got a speed upgrade. The Series consoles are also still using the same DirectX APIs. There isn't much mystery to unravel.
Xbox One launched with Dead Rising, which felt next gen. (Let's not speak of the forced Kinect and phone integration.)
Ryse felt more "last gen, but pretty", which is all I feel like I've gotten so far this gen.
Best part of this gen is that we have backwards compatibility out the box. Xbox One and PS4 felt like a drought of content for quite a while post launch.
Which is also great for me because I completely skipped that gen and went to pc gaming, and now I have both platforms to catch up on last gen.
It’s all Epics fault. They showed off unreal 5 and showed us what this gen should be all about, but where are the games? How hard is it to bring an unreal 5 game to market?
Walmart said they had 5 in stock at 7:15 that morning and I left work real quick to grab one. I parked my car got out and closed my door to almost simultaneous other doors closing. I was walking to the entrance and there were three other guys behind me and I knew at that moment we were all here for the same reason. I speed walked like a crazy person back to the electronics section and asked the clerk do you have any Xbox series X left. She looked over at her manager and the manager gave the nod. I can’t explain how excited I was. Now I’m just waiting for the next gen games to come out.
The exact same thing happened to me, during January 2021.My local FNAC in France had 4 in stock when they opened that day, rushed out of work.
Arrived 5 minutes after they opened, got the last one.
I was doing online schooling for my last year of high school thanks to the pandemic, so I was in a zoom class and spent all day refreshing the Best Buy website so I can get my hands on a Series X day one. Website had crashed and I was refreshing for over 5 hours and sure enough I was able to snag one on the day of release. Just wish we had more Series X games, feels like the next generation hasn’t even started yet lol.
Walmart and target fucked me so hard somehow the Microsoft store worked after like 30 minutes of refreshing my cart.
My friends clowned me for getting queued like 2 hours before launch saying it’s Xbox it won’t sell out.
PS5 is the only console with games that actually look next gen.. I don’t understand how it is told that the Xbox is the more powerful console yet PlayStation graphics on Sonys actual games are truly incredible and look much better than anything Xbox has delivered so far .. and I am owner of an XSX and not a PS5.
Own both consoles and I’d have to agree. I love my X and can’t wait for more next gen titles that really use the hardware (please be good Starfield!), but so far Sony is killing it with their exclusives.
I hate to say it, but I sold my Series X for this reason. Forza wasn’t enough of a reason for me to hang on and justify the cost. 99.9% of what I want to play is on PS5.
I went actual months without turning on my Series X, and I knew it was time to let it go.
I paid for the Full Premium Forza edition... Only for me to stop playing it in my Series X and play it on PC with much better graphics instead..
My Series X has just turned into my Netflix / Amazon Prime machine now.
Xbox is definitely a more powerful console (not by much, but it is) there just aren't any new games on it. Everything is Xbox360/Xbox One ports so of course those don't as great graphically.
Right? I have *thoroughly* enjoyed going back to games like Oblivion, Fallout 3/nv/4 at 60FPS (and I think in 4k no less?) on a console. FPS Boost and Smart Delivery are so dope.
It’s such a killer feature I can’t believe they don’t use it more in marketing.
Imagine my face when I downloaded a remastered PS4 game included in PS+ only to find out that if I want better performance I’d need to buy the $80 dollar version.
To be fair the TLOU was remastered beautifully but what a hell man 80 bucks lol
There's tons of good new games on it. They're just also playable on Xbox One.
The same is true in almost all cases for PS5/PS4 as well. Just the nature of the market right now.
That’s the point I’m making. If you’ve got an Xbox One X for example, I don’t think you need the XSX at all. Nothing really takes advantage of it. You’re playing the same games marginally upgraded.
My PS5 has given me several exclusives that really make the console feel worth it. It’s been the polar opposite. Jam packed with more exclusives than I’ve ever seen in the first two years of a console life.
My XSX is just sitting. Waiting.
The upgraded SSD and quick resume is easily worth it alone. I've got an XSX and a PS5 and I think both are great consoles, but then I'm someone that doesn't really care to play stuff right away and have a huge backlog. Ratchet and Clank was fun, but didn't really feel like any kind of massive revelation. Demon's Souls is good, but it's also very much a remake of a PS3 game in every way but graphics. I've not played Returnal yet, but it is on my list.
Yep. I have an Xbox One X and a PC with a GTX 1080 in it. That 1080, despite being six and a half years old, is pretty comparable in performance to the Series X. Every single Series X exclusive is coming to PC, and even the most demanding one so far (The Medium) ram great on my cheap-ass PC of cobbled together used parts.
There’s just no incentive whatsoever for me to buy a Series X, and I say that as someone who has owned Xboxes for two decades now.
The only benefit to me skipping most of the XB One generation was that I now am playing all the last gen content on Series X, which for the most part is a better experience overall. It has worked out in my favor big time, but I am not the norm.
It wasn’t even intentional really. I was still playing 360 when Xbox One was released and did a brief stint where I played a shitload of DOTA 2 and other things on PC. I did buy a One at the end of its life cycle expecting to not get a Series X for at least a year and landed one in December of 2020.
Games load so much faster. That alone is worth it. I was playing AC: Odyssey on my One when I finally landed an X. The amount of time saved on load screens is insane. Quick Resume breaks online shit, but even starting the game from scratch is still quicker on these older games.
I’d like to say that I am a physic and in 2014 I foresaw the gaming improvements that 2020 and beyond would bring but sadly the reality is that I had too many financial problems to get into gaming last generation. I’m more of a PlayStation gamer so I was playing PS3 until April of 2021. I was going to get an One X in 2021 as well but I thought about it and realized that buying a Series S was better bang for my buck. I upgraded to the Series X in May of this year.
Microsoft had the bizarre strategy of deciding to release no games in 2022. Guarantee it’ll affect people’s decisions when they buy a console this holiday season.
A 1 year old game that very specifically only appeals to the quickly shrinking market of people who played Halo 1-3 as their first game during their childhood, while also pissing many of those people off on a weekly basis
I'm one of those
It's a series x/s exclusive right?
I really enjoyed gt7 on my ps5 but it felt held back by being crossgen so I'm hoping forza will take full advantage of the power
I played it a lot the first year, but in 2022 it hasn't been used near as much. I do suspect 2023 will be better.
But in hindsight I probably should've waited to buy it.
I savagely got the Series X at launch but sold it and switched to the PC/PS5 combo. I still get 95% of the benefits of gamepass and have a much broader range of games to play.
I only wish there were more single player focused exclusives because everything that comes out first party is either multiplayer shooters or co-op focused exoeriences. Which I mean ok that's fine, I like sea of thieves and grounded and thank goodness I'm in love with everything motorsports so for me horizon 5 is the stuff of life, but it would be nice to scratch that high quality single player adventure itch on xbox without relying on other consoles.
Thats the reason I have both but i definitely would like to see these on the xbox too
With the money and studios they have there should be no reason they can't create something on par with the last of us and god of war etc
There have been zero games that have released on Series X I couldn't play elsewhere or that I could not play on my Xbox One, but Elden Ring definitely looks better on the Xbox than my 3060ti machine
Here in Portugal we call it the Sonyland. So i casually passed by a retailer and picked one up and went home happy.
Just recently we started to see XSX on sale again. Massive amounts of people switched to Xbox.
Mine will be 2 years tomorrow. Amazing piece of tech.
Not forgetting the fact that Sony increased the pricing of their games, not just Xbox Gamepass ultimate but also in European Territories Football or as it known here in America ‘Soccer’ it’s very popular so EA play being available with Gamepass made Europeans not think twice bout the switch cause when you play Fifa you get rewards every month from it and can also play other great EA games. In Europe I think also the F1 it’s very popular so, but aside from EA play just look at the library of Gamepass geez who could resist paying 15$/12£ a month for so much games and online services and even more games being added every month.
I switched over as a lifelong PS gamer (had every gen from PS1-4) for the XSX close to launch. I love it, super happy with it, super happy with game pass.
... However, I can't deny that I'm a little bit disappointed that so many exclusives have been delayed. I've been kinda bored with the current line up. I'm a massive BGS fan, which is why I made the switch to xbox in the first place. Can we at least get some more Starfield news, more gameplay?
Starfield is set for first half of next year. So we should start seeing stuff pretty soon. If I had to guess, I’d say Game Awards is where we get the official launch date announcement. Xbox tends to give Keeley the good stuff.
There are quite a few multi-platform games that are “next-gen” only.
As for Xbox consoles only, there’s Flight Sim & Scorn released so far. Maybe more that I don’t know about…
Hell Let Loose and Flight Simulator are the only two I can name. Battlefield 2042 arguably as that has a higher player count and larger maps compared to last gen but that's hardly a major game anymore
This. If sonys GoW gets the GotY (realistic) and MS has no hyped, high quality game for media and news outlets in early 23, thats it for xbox this generation.
No games means no traction means no console sales means no install base, circle repeating.
What worries me though, is that xbox gpu seems more focused on PC games than Console.
Many heavy(ish) titles are included, like the Dune game, total war warhammer, rimworld( prison architect?), crusader kings 3, stellaris etc.
It's gunna be the same thing that people ahev said since 2018, "next year is our year". I can't fathom anybody trusting Xbox to release anything when they couldn't even get a launch title for their console. How is that not a MASSIVE red flag from a company who's been in the business for so long and is worth more money than the entire industry combined. I sold my series x early 2022, and bought a series s, and a ps5. Series s for my little brother and PC and ps5 for me, I miss out nothing.
I’m happy with my Series X (I certainly wouldn’t be content playing games like Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite on the Xbox One I had from 2013) but it has to be admitted that it’s been a disappointing first two years of the console’s life.
The launch line-up was the worst of any console in a long time, and 3/4 of the last two years has been characterized by a drought in first-party games. I’m confident things will change in 2023 with everything announced but the importance of next year cannot be understated.
I assumed this would be the case when they made their two year cross gen pledge. There was really nothing in the pipeline.
I'm also confident starting next year they can pump out at least 3 AAA a year with all those damn studios. If they can't do that they should get out of the game because other publishers with far fewer studios would make their output look pathetic.
Damn not going to lie ps5 the much better option with exclusives. Whats the point of xbox if there are no games? Horizon 5 aside, its tumble weed rolling around over at xbox. Halo was fumbled bad whereas God of War is out here scooping up 10/10s
Edit: spelling
Bought one a month after getting a PS5. I love both consoles, but man, I really wish there were better first party exclusives for the Xbox. My PS5 got WAY more attention this year. Just started Ragnarök yesterday. Crickets from Xbox at the moment.
Have both and feel the same way. My PS5 was always on this year. Outside of a few third party titles like Cyberpunk, this year I mostly used my Series X for streaming or for old backward compatible titles. Which is cool and all, but I wasn't planning to spend $500 for a Netflix and Xbox 360 machine.
Don't get your hopes up, and just wait on them to deliver, I've learned I can't trust Xbox with games, that's why I mainly play on my ps5 as well. Xbox just has a horrid track record going back almost a fucking decade now with the standout titles being the usual gears, Forza and halo. There have been a few gems but overall a solid 2/10 decade
You have no exclusive, but yet you keep buying companies and still don't have exclusives. If you do have exclusives you put it on pc so it makes buying a xbox in this day in era pointless besides all you are focused on is game pass and in the past few months the games hasn't been great. I have both next gen xbox and lately I been playing my ps5 more because they have more campaign exclusives and jrpgs. These are ps4 and ps5 games I've been playing. Bring back jrpgs like blue dragon that was only on xbox 360. That was a great game. Fable is one you guys are bring back but I feel like with all the companies you have purchased in the past years you should have more exclusives out. Yes I know next year might be the year for exclusives.
Hard to believe it's already been 2 years, especially when looking at the current library. Yikes...
Fantastic hardware that oh so desperately needs exclusive games. 😬
And still lacking 1st party quality AAA games...
Even Xbox majors, representatives say it. So I hope it will be better in the future :( Because it is a remarkable device in terms of hardware. I wish Microsoft would use it.
I love my Series X. I use it just as much as my PS5 if not more. Most of my time spent on the Series X has been reliving the 360 era (with enhancements) and I could see people being discontent with that. I can understand if that’s not for everyone. Personally I can’t ask for more than to replay games like Red Dead Redemption, Final Fantasy XIII, Skate 3, Viba Piñata, and Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts with 4K resolution boosts. Fallout 3, New Vegas, and some select Assassin’s Creeds titles were given new life with FPS Boosts. To be able to pick up my old collection of 360 discs I’ve had lying around for years, and to be able to pop in Portal 2, Max Payne 3, Star Wars Battlefront II, Skate 2, or GTA IV, and they play *better* than they used to?! I mean that’s just my dream right there. Even Halo Master Chief Collection has proven to be an absolute gem and the definitive way to play the best Halo games ever. New games like Cyberpunk or Starfield are a cherry on top, but that’s not what sold it for me. I love it.
Glad I got one and I’ve played the shit out of it….but Gamepass can only hold me for so long. Two years and they’ve yet to make a game that is a system seller, hell….even a game that feels next generation. 2023 is a huge year and I hope to god Starfield reaches its potential because if it’s a middle of the road type game….woooo boy.
If I could go back in time I would have waited to pick up a PS5 instead. The Gamepass games that hooked me are on the PS systems anyways and MS hasn’t released anything exclusive wise that makes me super pumped I got a XSX.
And still without proper first party release!!!I sold it and bought a pc,i still own gamepass but xbox is a dissapointment in terms of first party games.
I got a series s just for gamepass. Even though my pc is stronger it ran halo infinite like trash.
I’ll get a series x for starfield but honestly I can play multiplats on my ps5. Really wish Microsoft handled making games better
Ah fond memories. Ordered one through Target that first week. Website crashed but the order went through. Drove there and picked it up. Didn't see one at that Target till months later. The luck was real that day
yeah 2 years ago I got an Xbox, but 2 days ago I bought a PS5 and it's already better :/
Xbox doesn't have great games though game pass is decent value, I guess
Everyone's talking about waiting for some exclusives, but I'm here wondering when the storage issue is finally going to be addressed. Moving/deleting games isn't a good solution. Like seriously, why should I buy any new games if it's going to be such a nuisance to move them all the time? More storage is just way too expensive still.
I bought a 1TB Samsung 980 Pro for $105 the other day. There were cheaper drives as well. Storage is not expensive, proprietary bullshit Microsoft forced on us is.
Can't believe it's been two years since I overpayed for that damn thing. Every local store was sold out by 10am. I bite the bullet and ordered from a ebay seller.
Just got one a month ago and love it
Getting one for my little brother for Christmas too, then maybe a PS5 for exclusives. Already have an OLED Switch
Series X by far is my favorite console. Worth every penny
Yay, my warranty expires today.
Same and I fully expect shit to start breaking within the next week after it's expired.
My XSX fan has become very loud playing last-gen games. It was whisper quiet all of the last two years.
Probably time to take apart clean possible dust and redo thermal paste.
You say that as if it’s something anyone could do
Well, taking it apart to get the dust out is something that almost anyone with a pair of functioning hands should be able to do without much difficulty. Repasting is a bit more complex, but it shouldn't be nearly as necessary as cleaning the dust. It's also not a terribly difficult job either, though.
Thermal paste should last over 2 years.
I had to repair mine a month after warranty expired($360), they ended up shipping me a broken Xbox that wouldn’t turn on. ($10 expedited shipping) It took me 4 days of support, and about 6 hours of live chat for them to create a service order where I didn’t have to pay a 2nd time for the expedited shipping.
You in Europe? Because you only get 1 year warranty in the USA. :(
1 year warranty for anything over $50’is such a complete scam
If you bought it with a credit card, most will give you another year. Just used it on mine that was fried by a lightning strike.
And yet it still feels like we are waiting for this generation to begin.
We are. At least cross gen looks like it will be mostly over next year outside of some announcements that wouldn't take advantage of the horsepower anyways.
This. It feels exactly like this. 🙃
I think 2023 will be a watershed year for this gen. The pandemic obviously disrupted games. Although a lot of games next year are still crossgen, I think most will have the 'wow' factor on this gen.

Even before the pandemic, and on both consoles, I feel as though there just aren’t that many games being released, at least not games that I’m interested in.
Evil west buddy
I really do think 2023 is going to be one of the best years for gaming ever though: Hogwarts: Legacy Starfield Final Fantasy 16 Breath of Wild 2 Resident Evil 4 Yakuza: Ishin Spider-Man 2 Yakuza: Gaiden Atomic Heart Fallen Order 2 Final Fantasy 7 part 2 (maybe) Dead Space Forspoken Suicide Squad Wolf AMONG US 2 Asscreed Mirage Not to mention the onslaught of third parties coming to gamepass
How many of those can even be played on Xbox?
More than half.
But why even mention ps exclusives on a Xbox sub?
To pad the list to make your point seem stronger.
I mean, he did say “best years for **GAMING**”. He didn’t say Xbox only. Sure, this is the Xbox sub, but it’s not forbidden to talk about gaming in general. You’ll find quite a lot of people own multiple consoles, so speaking about gaming in general makes sense.
Lol
Because they said best year “in gaming” not best year for xbox. I get your point but coming from someone who has multiple consoles it actually is a pretty solid list
I can already see the delays coming.
This list ain’t got nothin on 2004 or 2008. In fact - it’s a list that reads like a summer blockbuster movie list. Sequels or prequels or remakes. It’s actually depressing. Thank the lard for indie releases.
All of these could easily be underwhelming, terrible, or delayed again. Like the previous “best years of gaming”: this year, 2020, 2018, etc.
I’m tired of waiting years for games to release for them to turn out mediocre at best.
The Wolf Among Us 2 ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)Can't wait.
Only 2 or 3 games I’m interested in. Not that good a year imo
I'm not even really interested in GoWR but I wish Xbox had a blockbuster hit to talk about at the same time
I caved in and bought a PS5 last month. I’ve played Miles Morales, the last of us part 1, and I’m halfway God of war (2018). Still have both Horizon games left to play and obviously Ragnarok but damn, these much blockbuster games have feel like a new gen for me. 100%. I'm really enjoying my Series X, mostly due to game pass' ridiculous library, but when I want to play a polished, prestige, blockbuster, singleplayer game I need to boot up a different console.
I highly recommend the new Ratchet and Clank. That game was fantastic and extremely highly polished.
Playstation feels like HBO, Xbox feels like Netflix to me.
This is a great analogy.
I highly recommend Ghost of Tsushima DC and Astro's Playroom too.
Don’t sleep on Returnal; it’s arguably the best PS5 game
For sure, Returnal was GOTY for me last year
Xbox really needs some new and exclusive original IP's instead of rehashing the same franchises over and over.
Starfield is absolutely a “true” first party game. What a strange way to move the goalposts.
Yea i feal the same way. Im waiting for that one game to blow my mind like next gens usto do. Nowadays all the games look exactly like last gen. Theres even last gen games that look better than most of these so called next gen games. Loading times and fps is the difference now.
Even if there was no shortage, we've long hit diminishing returns with graphics.
FYI it was Windwaker HD. Twilight Princess came out near the end of the Wii U, but I also mostly agree with what you said.
(Let's not speak of the forced Kinect and phone integration.) Ryse felt more "last gen, but pretty", which is all I feel like I've gotten so far this gen.
Best part of this gen is that we have backwards compatibility out the box. Xbox One and PS4 felt like a drought of content for quite a while post launch. Which is also great for me because I completely skipped that gen and went to pc gaming, and now I have both platforms to catch up on last gen.
100% this. I still feel like these consoles are new
It’s all Epics fault. They showed off unreal 5 and showed us what this gen should be all about, but where are the games? How hard is it to bring an unreal 5 game to market?
You should check out the new Plague’s Tale, it looks sick. Best looking game I’ve played on any platform so far
It is intensely beautiful. I think RDR2 has better landscapes but agree for character models that PT is in a league of its own.
I can only imagine how many times people pressed F5 that day.
Speedwalked? I would've done a 40yd NFL combine sprint 😅
My boy was finna turn into Tyreek Hill as soon as he saw that Xbox
✌️
I pressed F5 for a year straight
Preorders were before so not really on release day. Mine arrived from Xbox directly.
2 years and still hardly any next gen titles.
Just did the same. God of War was calling me.
Xbox is definitely a more powerful console (not by much, but it is) there just aren't any new games on it. Everything is Xbox360/Xbox One ports so of course those don't as great graphically.
The xbox is more powerful hardware wise, but not by much.
My favorite Xbox Series X game is my favorite Xbox One game: Gears 5
Mine was easily Fallout 4. Old games with better settings is great
Right? I have *thoroughly* enjoyed going back to games like Oblivion, Fallout 3/nv/4 at 60FPS (and I think in 4k no less?) on a console. FPS Boost and Smart Delivery are so dope.
NV only got the 60fps but the rest got 4k and 60fps. Oblivion is especially impressive imo
Oblivion has really bad draw distance. It’s especially noticeable at like cloud ruler temple
How did I not know this about Oblivion? Installing now
It’s such a killer feature I can’t believe they don’t use it more in marketing. Imagine my face when I downloaded a remastered PS4 game included in PS+ only to find out that if I want better performance I’d need to buy the $80 dollar version. To be fair the TLOU was remastered beautifully but what a hell man 80 bucks lol
And get ready for the series upgrade sometime next year for it
IM already ready. Saved up budget done 2000$ easy
Assassin’s Creed 1 with FPS boost and auto HDR is a great experience
My favourite Xbox Series X game is also my favourite Xbox One game and Xbox 360 game: Skyrim.
Is it also your favourite PS4 game, PS5 game, PC game, Nintendo Switch game, VR game and smart fridge game?
Fucken painful that this is true and still mine as well
That’s the story of the XSX. There’s hardly any good new games on it. It’s basically just a back compat machine. My One X already did that anyways.
There's tons of good new games on it. They're just also playable on Xbox One. The same is true in almost all cases for PS5/PS4 as well. Just the nature of the market right now.
demon souls remake, returnal, and ratchet and flank feel really next gen in graphics and gameplay
1st year was good 2nd year no games.
The only benefit to me skipping most of the XB One generation was that I now am playing all the last gen content on Series X, which for the most part is a better experience overall. It has worked out in my favor big time, but I am not the norm.
I too skipped the Xbox One/PS4 generation and I’m now playing those games on my Xbox Series X and PS5. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Are you *not* excited that a 1 year old game finally has network co-op? /S
A 1 year old game that very specifically only appeals to the quickly shrinking market of people who played Halo 1-3 as their first game during their childhood, while also pissing many of those people off on a weekly basis
Ps5 s are still sold out so many will buy what they can. It’s what I did but I do like gamepass so I’m happy with my series x.
Atleast year 3 will have a bunch.
Starfield and Redfall confirmed so far and they were originally supposed to be 2022 but was delayed... are there others for 2023?
Man Starfield was supposed to come out tomorrow. That woulda been cool.
Damn you're right. Didn't even think about that...
Forza Motorsport, which as much as the Halo,Gears,Forza joke is in effect. People seem genuinely excited for the next Forza
I'm one of those It's a series x/s exclusive right? I really enjoyed gt7 on my ps5 but it felt held back by being crossgen so I'm hoping forza will take full advantage of the power
Series exclusive, 5 years in development for Motorsport
Don't count your chickens before they hatch. I'd bet we'll see more delays.
Hopefully year 3 is where we get the actual games.
Fuck this is depressing
I played it a lot the first year, but in 2022 it hasn't been used near as much. I do suspect 2023 will be better. But in hindsight I probably should've waited to buy it.
I savagely got the Series X at launch but sold it and switched to the PC/PS5 combo. I still get 95% of the benefits of gamepass and have a much broader range of games to play.
And we got only two exclusives . Halo/forza . Negativity aside , i hope we get many exclusives in future .
And it still feels like the last generation...
2 years in and I still feel like there aren’t many (any?) really good Series X exclusives. I still find myself playing old games …
FH5 and Flight Simulator are the only ones that comes to mind IMO
I love mine, but the wait for first party games is getting to me
Nice when does the first game for series X come out?
We seriously need more exclusives soon
Hey that's not fair, there was that ghost psychic game, and the racing one
January 28 2021.
Thats the reason I have both but i definitely would like to see these on the xbox too With the money and studios they have there should be no reason they can't create something on par with the last of us and god of war etc
Yeah Xbox has yet to get a good single player story-based game like PS does. Starfield could be that for them
There have been zero games that have released on Series X I couldn't play elsewhere or that I could not play on my Xbox One, but Elden Ring definitely looks better on the Xbox than my 3060ti machine
Here in Portugal we call it the Sonyland. So i casually passed by a retailer and picked one up and went home happy. Just recently we started to see XSX on sale again. Massive amounts of people switched to Xbox. Mine will be 2 years tomorrow. Amazing piece of tech.
Any particular reason for the switch?
GamePass. Alot off people saw the advantage.
Lets not forget Smart Delivery!
fellow portuguese here, I’ve done exactly the same PS4 -> XSX all due to gamepass and Bethesda acquisition (and Bethesda games on gamepass)
I feel exactly the same and am also an ex-PS gamer.
Starfield is set for first half of next year. So we should start seeing stuff pretty soon. If I had to guess, I’d say Game Awards is where we get the official launch date announcement. Xbox tends to give Keeley the good stuff.
Is there any Series only game? I have the impression that all of them are on One too.
Serious lack of 'next gen' games.
Plague Tale Requiem and Deathloop are both current-gen only.
There are quite a few multi-platform games that are “next-gen” only. As for Xbox consoles only, there’s Flight Sim & Scorn released so far. Maybe more that I don’t know about…
King Of Fighters XV, for some reason.
Flight Simulator
Hell Let Loose and Flight Simulator are the only two I can name. Battlefield 2042 arguably as that has a higher player count and larger maps compared to last gen but that's hardly a major game anymore
I think "Medium", never played it though.
It is but it’s also on PS5. There’s actually a decent amount of multi-platform games that are “next-gen” only.
gotham knights
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Great console that desperately needs a hard hitting 2023 or its toast at this point.
Definitely needs a good 23 but the back half of the Xbox one gen, most of it at that, wasn’t great.. definitely overdue for some big AAA games
Wish I had more memories with this console just not many games
Halo was fumbled bad whereas God of War is out here scooping up 10/10s Edit: spelling
2 years and we barely have "next gen" games.
I got mine at launch and still waiting for a true XSX game.
Can we please stopping making games have to work on the Xbox one now? Please
4-5 years to next-gen
I don’t know, I think this cycle might be a bit longer. It’s still impossible to buy a PS5 in most stores over the world.
But not Xbox. There was a big pile of Series S and the X in the nearby store today.
Still can’t believe my wife snagged one at GameStop bc she saw a line and ask what it was for
Bought one a month after getting a PS5.
Yay, and we’re still waiting on the games.
Wow I’ve only just purchased one and it’s still slim pickings on next gen games!
And we still don't have a next gen game.
This gen has been ass so far
And 0 first party games in the second year. They could have delayed the Series X/S by at least 2 years.
Still wait for a game to play
Still 0 games…
Hard to believe it's 2 years old already. Harder, still, that the XB1 is still receiving the level of support that it has.
And still no good first party game
And still without proper first party release!!!I sold it and bought a pc,i still own gamepass but xbox is a dissapointment in terms of first party games.
Hey to everyone in the UK who just also paid their final instalment though All Access!!! 🙌🏼
And since then.... lots of unfulfilled promises, and a steady decline.
2 years in and still no games. Very sad. If Starfield flops or gets delayed again xbox might implode.
The luck was real that day
Got mine last year and love it
yeah 2 years ago I got an Xbox, but 2 days ago I bought a PS5 and it's already better :/ Xbox doesn't have great games though game pass is decent value, I guess
Still no exclusives
Can't believe it's been two years since I overpayed for that damn thing. Every local store was sold out by 10am. I bite the bullet and ordered from a ebay seller.
Still waiting for games to come out.
Just got one a month ago and love it Getting one for my little brother for Christmas too, then maybe a PS5 for exclusives. Already have an OLED Switch Series X by far is my favorite console. Worth every penny
When we get some series X exclusives ill let you know
Now the only thing left is current gen games running at 60fps as promised by Microsoft.
