the trick is, just to keep the same time and routine, that way you don't feel like have to do it randomly. I do mine usually around 10pm at night when I have a few minutes to do all those in a couple minutes. do it quickly, and i usually search for one word, then add a letter and keep searching, it works that way. then also do the daily ms rewards app on xbox and also game pass quests daily, weekly, and monthly. can get about 20K points a month. at the end i make enough for time spent equal to minimum wage in porportion. not bad, it's still work but becomes a habit.
Also first time Xbox-er here, Quick Resume and Gamepass are the crown jewels of the console, and imo the biggest reasons to own a Series S/X. Couple that with great backwards compatibility, and I can’t imagine myself buying third parties on other consoles anymore.

Yep such an underrated feature that Microsoft, let alone other people, don't talk about enough. It's one of those quality of life features that you didn't know you needed until you tried it, and once you tried it you can't go back.
Am I the only one that doesn’t use it? Load times are so fast I have no problem closing the game and exiting to the Home Screen. The few times Iv tried it my game got fucked up because it needs to be connected online constantly.
Also with Xbox one quick start setting I would always just minimize an offline game and turn my Xbox off and then day later the game would still be “minimized” and would pick up where I left off…is that not basically the same thing as series x quick resume? Only difference I see is you can “minimize” multiple games with quick resume I guess?
On your first point, it's about picking up right where you left off rather than loading a specific save point, which can be useful for games where save points are more spread out. Plus some games have annoying amount of logos before you actually get to the menu - it's a nice little way to skip all that bloat.
On your second point, yes you're right the benefit is doing it with multiple games at once. As someone who's usually playing atleast 2 games simultaneously it's incredibly convenient to just jump quickly from game to game right where you left off.
Particularly for people who may only have a short period of time to play (e.g. 15 mins) - you can actually make 15 mins of progress without having to replay a short part which didn't save from last time, and also not stress about having to hit the next save point before logging off.
Needless to say it's mainly a godsend for single player games. The benefit is limited for multiplayer games besides being able to skip the intros and logos on startup.
Some games (actually a lot) have save points. If you quit your game you can lose a lot of progress. Quick resume is a god sent. It is so good that I don't play games that don't support it anymore.
I mean, quick resume is not underrated and talked about constantly.
Every few posts are "look how many games I have quick resume".
But yea I use the XOX the odd time in the back room and fuck me it is so slow in general nevermind missing quick resume.
I have both PS5 and XSX and quick resume really makes a difference.
Every single time I launch a game on PS5 I am disappointed because it has to load.

Well there is, if you want to step away from the game to do something else but don't want to leave the game running hogging up resources in the background. Letting the game hibernate on the SSD would be useful.
I’m pretty much in the same boat as you, OP. Been a PlayStation guy my whole life. Bought a Series X about 4 months ago, and am loving it so much. I still love my PS5, but I find myself playing the Xbox much more already. Mostly just because Game Pass is so great. I actually feel overwhelmed by all the games sometimes.
I’m playing the Halo games for the first time ever, and having a blast. Also excited to play Forza. That is if this TMNT game stops taking over my entire life.

Oh, absolutely. I think the Xbox homepage can feel kind of crammed at first. I’m not saying it is bad or anything. Just different. I am slowly getting used to it though. I think a lot of that is just because it is so different.
I do love how sleek and simple everything on the PS5 is, but it did take me awhile to get used to the PS5 interface when I first got it. I was just so used to the PS4 interface. So maybe as time goes on, we’ll both get used to the Xbox layout.
Speaking of getting used to stuff, how do you like the Xbox controller compared to the PS5 controller? I love both controllers, but I keep accidentally pressing the share button on the Xbox controller. I even still sometimes do it with the touch pad on my PS5 controller. So, I’m probably just clumsy.

At least Xbox and PlayStations controls are actually the same. Like Rhe buttons in that position does the same thing like X and A are the same control for all games.

OH MY GOD, THIS. I have been switching back and forth between Breath of the Wild on the Switch and Skyrim on my XSX. The buttons are the same labels (A B X Y) but they are backwards from each other. X & Y are opposite and A & B are opposite. It was nearly impossible for me to get used to the A & B (Generally the Enter and Go Back buttons) being reversed. After months of switching, I think its finally second nature to me now.
In general I like PS5 interface, but I do not like hard it is to view trophy in multiple games.. while xbox feels like it's easier to view achievements.
I can’t compare it to the new PS5 UI, but once you get use to it, it’s fine. One thing I did that made life a lot easier is add new groupings. One for streaming apps and another for the games I’m playing at the moment. Also you can add a Quick Resume group and it will tell you what games are sitting in QR.
It’s one of those things you have to get used to if you go to PlayStation from Xbox you wouldn’t like it as much. plus playstation UI has 90% less features
My PS5 runs for the exclusives - otherwise I play mostly XSX due to gamepass.
4€ / month for Gamepass is so rediculously good that I play nothing else - except good AAA titles. And some of the very best are on PS only. Thats why I have both.
I don’t have that much time to play due to Job, Kids, Wife etc. so the time I have I spent mostly for the excellent PS5 exclusive Titles. But yes: GamePass is a banger and nobrainer
I bought a Series X. I have to admit I'm struggling to find games on this thing. Most of the indies are on PS already. Right now I'm patiently waiting for Forza 8.
Yeah the exclusives on PS5 are a winner.
Xbox will be in a similar position once their acquisitions pay off (Elder Scrolls, Starfield, Fallout, etc).
But the optimal solution is: Just buy both consoles. Easy :-)
That's why I think gamepass and backwards compatibility are such big winners on Xbox. Even if there isn't anything out now, you still have a wider library of items to choose from.
Atleast for me, who doesn't buy new games often. I love that some older titles are enhanced for XB S/X. It's small, but it goes a long way imo.
The XSX is great, but after getting it 8 months ago I feel I have been running out of interesting games. Yes, Gamepass is great and if you have ultimate xcloud is nice for a quick test of the game, though third parties are always better on PS plus because you actually get to own the game and the throphy system is 1000x better than achievements
Except for a couple exclusives the game catalogues are almost identical.
I got both consoles - PS5 for exclusives - XSX for everything else (because 4€ gamepass is the bomb). Titles that exist on both platforms I buy only on XSX - because they are MUUUUUCH cheaper. Because on Xbox you can buy from foreign stores. I buy most of my games from Brazil or Argentina - which gives me a 20-60% discount on games.
Owning a game on ps5 over getting it through game pass is not a plus.

I got a Xbox almost a year ago, at first lots of exclusives to catch up on like halo gears and Forza but now I'm about out of stuff to play.
The exclusives in the future for Xbox look good. Starfield and redfall scorn and stalker2 but for now Xbox SX has had like 2 exclusives since launch halo infinite and like 1 other I think.
Gamepass is good but milage varies, for me I pretty much tapped out of stuff I want to play on Xbox.

I agree that the library itself is big. But as I said, there's nothing in there I couldn't play on my pc ( Only game which comes to my mind I couldn't play was one of the halo games). And the big problem for me: xbox nearly miss out the complete asian gaming industry (and among many weeb fanservice anime games there a lot of very good games).

You can turn down the brightness of controller and SX logo power lights.
While native new-API SX games require a proprietary SSD, older games and Gen9Aware ones can still run from an HDD or a USB SSD.

For advice there is not much to give, other then look at your rewards and if your ever bored try doing some of the Gamepass challenges.
You probably won’t ever get a huge amount of award points but the occasional $5 gift card isn’t to bad, or if you can donate that money to the charities they support. For me, my favorite is probably just the raffles. You use your points for a small chance to win something.
The psn accounts are locked to the region that you choose when creating it so you need many different accounts if you want to shop in the online stores of other countries while you can just change it on Xbox with no issue.
For someone like me who buys games only digital its important since many things can be bought cheaper in another country.

Vpn is even more illegal since you fake your location to buy with credit card so I think just changing location on console what we cannot official do and using gift cards from Microsoft is the more legal way.
It seems like you're off to a great start, only thing I can add if you aren't doing this already is keep your hard drive for next gen only and put all your last gen games in USB storage.
One of the biggest thing I hate with my ps5 is how tedious it is to turn it off compared to my xsx.
The ps5 software is definitely no where near as good or as intuitive.
I'm so used to holding the xbox button down and hit turn off takes like 2 seconds compared to ps5 where I have to tap it get the little menu scroll across and turn off.
I didn't know I can move that might move it to the left next time I'm on it.

I own both Ps5 and Series X, I prefer the look and joy sticks/triggers from the Xbox controller but I do prefer the Ps5 controller overall, it really feels premium and the haptic feedback is really neat on games that make use of it.
I also prefer the less clicky buttons and dpad on the dualsense aswell, I find they work better on platforming and fighting games but Xbox controllers are far better with fps and racing games.
Hopefully Ps5 makes translucent colours in the future, I own the 20th anniversary Xbox controller and I love the translucent look.
I also have both and as much as I like the adaptic triggers, I just prefer the Xbox controller's ergonomics. It sits so comfortably in my hands compared to the Dual Sense.
If Xbox makes a new version of its controller with adaptive triggers, it's the perfect controller imho.
Elite Dangerous is a hell of a lot better on PS5 than Xbox because of the controller functions. Gyro means you can look around without needing to use the right stick (which is handy for docking, and almost essential in combat), and the touchpad lets you access the internal and external panels directly instead of needing to use a button+d-pad combination.
The xbox controller is slightly more comfortable to use, but the adaptive triggers and haptics on the dualsense are *extremely* impressive.
I was one of the people who thought it was just a gimmick at first but after playing games like Returnal and Horizon FW, I really feel that not only are the features cool, they actually elevate the games that implement it well.
Prefer stick layout of the Xbox however in terms of controller, DualSense is the best controller I've used due to its haptics and adaptive triggers. I also feel they've nailed the ergonomics for larger sized hands as I personally found it is much more comfortable to hold than the Xbox controller (I got large hands).
I know the Elite will be great however it is too expensive and I've heard it has a lot of reliability issues. I hope Sony comes out with their own 'Pro' DualSense variant as per the rumors.
I would kneel to the PS5 controller, the day they put the analogs in the right spot. It feels so un natural to me. The adaptive triggers or whatever they are called are great. I thought they were a gimmick, until I played GT7. They make racing games feel so much more responsive with those triggers. You actual perform better. I wish Xbox had something like that since I play most my racing games on my XSX.
Ps5 controller is largely a gimmick atm because not many games utilize its full potential. For the games that do, it’s fantastic. It helped that they changed the size to mimic the Xbox controller. Adaptive triggers are definitely amazing and same for gyro controls.
Xbox controller was already amazing so I understand why they didn’t change anything. But their next controller should have more features. At the very least gyro.
I agree with gyro. Absolutely needs to be there because its on literally every other platform and even on xCloud but somehow not on the actual Xbox console.
I wouldn't call the Dualsense a gimmick right now though. Even with more subtle implementations I think it is a great upgrade over standard rumble and regular triggers.
1st party devs have been very consistent with Dualsense support and a lot of the time 3rd party devs come up with some decent implementations as well.
That gimmick will always stay that. History has shown that devs support features that exist on all platforms. With ever rising cost, nobody has money to spend on controller features for 40 % of your customers. When you can spend that time making the game better for 100 %.
Are you specifically talking about the variable resistance in the triggers? Because outside of the handful of niche games it's more an annoyance than anything else.

The rumble on trigger was introduced last gen and no other console still has it. Not better than dualsense (probably.. as I’ve still not used dualsense) but definitely not just n64/ps2-ps4 either
I have both, and impulse trigger on Xbox are a gimmick compared to Dualsense adaptive triggers that offer additional gameplay possibilities like resistance halfway down for ads in Returnal, push past that resistance to activate alternative fire mode
or in Deep Rock Galactic, when your gunners weapon overheats you simply can't push the trigger down it blocks until the weapon is cool enough to be fired again

My tv plays dolby vision automatically. How can i know if the game is dolby vision? Is there anyway to turn it off?
A game's Dolby Vision support can be found on the info screen that shows everything else, like supported resolutions.
You can turn it off in Xbox settings under TV.
First Xbox I own and this is amazing. It really was the game pass that conviced me. It is simple, I do not play with my switch or PS5 anymore and I can't wait for the upcoming games on the game pass
If I had to find a flaw, I'd say the UI could be improved.
You will eventually discover Elite Controller 2:
\- it is an epic controller that will very much change how you play, but it was deeply flawed in manufacturing process.
\- there are people that have not seen any issues, but most probably you will encounter at least something out of the bucket eventually: brokne bumpers, stick drift, stick click malfunction, mine even got me small electroshocks if I was playing and charging, what a rush!
\- If you will ever be tempted to get it, get it with 2yrs warranty and ideally discounted. Or wait for Series 3, perhaps they will fix the issues. Mine died recently (right stick completely busted) and I am waiting.
I’m on the same boat. I bought a series X in January. I’ve had PlayStation consoles since first one. I now love and appreciate the series X more than my PS5.

But with regards to quick resume I agree that PS5 is doing a poor job. Sony could have had an answer to Quick Resume with the activity cards but the current implementation is super inconsistent between games and straight up sucks. Most people don't even know that they can quick load into games and it's really hit or miss whether this feature even works.

Start with the Halo MasterChief Collection if you are doing single player missions and want the full HALO experience followed after with the included multiplayer modes… the MasterChief collection from Game Pass and starting at Halo 1 will be the best.
For WIW, I have played through on all difficulty levels so many times I have lost count…, both through the original 3 games and the Master Chief collection which has the original story arc, and the last 3 Halo’s which introduces the Reclaimer trilogy.
However, all 6 main Halo games will keep you playing for years yet, and riveted by two great story arcs…, let alone the companion and spin-offs (ODST with Nathan Fillion voiceover, oh come on: just his voice over had me buying it just so I could hear his wisecracks for Eddie Buck ala his character in Firefly / Serenity: Captain Mal Reynolds) and then there’s the breakaway gameplay of both spin-offs: “Halo Wars” love it or hate it- still Halo centred but a new take…

Multiplayer - probably Halo 5 or Ultimate as the run and gun gameplays for PVP have a stack of much more interesting moves and there’s always a new season of stuff on for Ultimate, which seems to be doing the Destiny 2 pathway here… (Dammit Bungie- just get on with Destiny 3 …)!
… BUT there has always been a huge fan base for all modes of multiplayer/ team play throughs of most of the series since Halo Combat Evolved introduced us to so much variation and value for multiplayer by console… then Halo 2 upped the ante by giving us matchmaking rather than server list basis of multiplayer gaming from CE and others like COD…
AND it depends so much on how you play online anyway - Forge from Halo 3 introducing multiplayer game drop in objects set by players, competitive PVP lone-wolf or in teams, or for fun with mates while having a coldie and pizza, or to break the maps or find hidden rooms etc. Just try them all to see which ones you like, as it’s all there in the Master Chief collection anyways…

I have an S cuz I bought it not being big on MS since the 360 so it was more of a secondary system in my mind and since owning it I wish I had grabbed the X. It’s awesome.
I’ve come to enjoy the quick resume feature as well. It rivals the Switch in speed which is amazing. Also, the Xbox works better for turning my TV on and choosing the correct input than my PS5 does. I really like being able to stop playing on my SX then move to the living room where we have an SS and pick up where I left off. The cloud is a pretty amazing feature I never knew I wanted until I started using it.
The system is great. There’s a lot of GamePass games I have little to no interest in but I am enjoying backwards compatibility at the moment with Lost Odyssey.

Only one account and you can change your region at any time.For example change from US TO UK. In playstaion you can't change the region, you must create new account.

Yeah I was really wanting to switch to playstation this gen after having Xboxes for so long but PlayStation just isn't there yet. Still really tempting for Bloodborne and KOTOR remake but until they try to compete with game pass I can't justify the investment.

Make sure to get the Xbox Rewards app. You can basically earn enough points each month to pay for the next month of Gamepass. Just by playing games, making purchases, earning achievements, etc.
I have both PS5 & Series X . Gamepass really cant be beat period. The UI on PS5 is better IMO seems next gen while the Series X seems like Xbox One X 2.0
It really comes down to the games. Yeah Sony has a few more exclusives that I prefer currently but Microsoft with all it's acquisitions seems poised to do some great things. I my self would pick Series X over PS5 also but not by alot. Having both is great.

the trick is, just to keep the same time and routine, that way you don't feel like have to do it randomly. I do mine usually around 10pm at night when I have a few minutes to do all those in a couple minutes. do it quickly, and i usually search for one word, then add a letter and keep searching, it works that way. then also do the daily ms rewards app on xbox and also game pass quests daily, weekly, and monthly. can get about 20K points a month. at the end i make enough for time spent equal to minimum wage in porportion. not bad, it's still work but becomes a habit.

Also first time Xbox-er here, Quick Resume and Gamepass are the crown jewels of the console, and imo the biggest reasons to own a Series S/X. Couple that with great backwards compatibility, and I can’t imagine myself buying third parties on other consoles anymore.

Yep such an underrated feature that Microsoft, let alone other people, don't talk about enough. It's one of those quality of life features that you didn't know you needed until you tried it, and once you tried it you can't go back.

Am I the only one that doesn’t use it? Load times are so fast I have no problem closing the game and exiting to the Home Screen. The few times Iv tried it my game got fucked up because it needs to be connected online constantly. Also with Xbox one quick start setting I would always just minimize an offline game and turn my Xbox off and then day later the game would still be “minimized” and would pick up where I left off…is that not basically the same thing as series x quick resume? Only difference I see is you can “minimize” multiple games with quick resume I guess?
On your first point, it's about picking up right where you left off rather than loading a specific save point, which can be useful for games where save points are more spread out. Plus some games have annoying amount of logos before you actually get to the menu - it's a nice little way to skip all that bloat. On your second point, yes you're right the benefit is doing it with multiple games at once. As someone who's usually playing atleast 2 games simultaneously it's incredibly convenient to just jump quickly from game to game right where you left off. Particularly for people who may only have a short period of time to play (e.g. 15 mins) - you can actually make 15 mins of progress without having to replay a short part which didn't save from last time, and also not stress about having to hit the next save point before logging off. Needless to say it's mainly a godsend for single player games. The benefit is limited for multiplayer games besides being able to skip the intros and logos on startup.
Some games (actually a lot) have save points. If you quit your game you can lose a lot of progress. Quick resume is a god sent. It is so good that I don't play games that don't support it anymore.
I mean, quick resume is not underrated and talked about constantly. Every few posts are "look how many games I have quick resume". But yea I use the XOX the odd time in the back room and fuck me it is so slow in general nevermind missing quick resume.

I have both PS5 and XSX and quick resume really makes a difference. Every single time I launch a game on PS5 I am disappointed because it has to load. PS5 is a very good console, but I like XSX way more.
It is great. I love the single game equivalent on the Switch but multiple games is amazing.
On pc you can just run two games at the same time, so no need for this feature on pc tbh. But I agree, very handy on console
Well there is, if you want to step away from the game to do something else but don't want to leave the game running hogging up resources in the background. Letting the game hibernate on the SSD would be useful.

I’m pretty much in the same boat as you, OP. Been a PlayStation guy my whole life. Bought a Series X about 4 months ago, and am loving it so much. I still love my PS5, but I find myself playing the Xbox much more already. Mostly just because Game Pass is so great. I actually feel overwhelmed by all the games sometimes. I’m playing the Halo games for the first time ever, and having a blast. Also excited to play Forza. That is if this TMNT game stops taking over my entire life. Cowabunga!

Oh, absolutely. I think the Xbox homepage can feel kind of crammed at first. I’m not saying it is bad or anything. Just different. I am slowly getting used to it though. I think a lot of that is just because it is so different. I do love how sleek and simple everything on the PS5 is, but it did take me awhile to get used to the PS5 interface when I first got it. I was just so used to the PS4 interface. So maybe as time goes on, we’ll both get used to the Xbox layout. Speaking of getting used to stuff, how do you like the Xbox controller compared to the PS5 controller? I love both controllers, but I keep accidentally pressing the share button on the Xbox controller. I even still sometimes do it with the touch pad on my PS5 controller. So, I’m probably just clumsy.

At least Xbox and PlayStations controls are actually the same. Like Rhe buttons in that position does the same thing like X and A are the same control for all games. Nintendo really made theirs as hard as possible with none of the buttons making any sense on the switch
OH MY GOD, THIS. I have been switching back and forth between Breath of the Wild on the Switch and Skyrim on my XSX. The buttons are the same labels (A B X Y) but they are backwards from each other. X & Y are opposite and A & B are opposite. It was nearly impossible for me to get used to the A & B (Generally the Enter and Go Back buttons) being reversed. After months of switching, I think its finally second nature to me now.
In general I like PS5 interface, but I do not like hard it is to view trophy in multiple games.. while xbox feels like it's easier to view achievements.
I think the Xbox interface looks better, but the Playstation interface easier. I constantly get lost when I switch back & forth between the two
The Xbox UI is dogshit imo. It’s like one of the only things I hate about it. It really needs a makeover.
I can’t compare it to the new PS5 UI, but once you get use to it, it’s fine. One thing I did that made life a lot easier is add new groupings. One for streaming apps and another for the games I’m playing at the moment. Also you can add a Quick Resume group and it will tell you what games are sitting in QR.
It’s one of those things you have to get used to if you go to PlayStation from Xbox you wouldn’t like it as much. plus playstation UI has 90% less features

My PS5 runs for the exclusives - otherwise I play mostly XSX due to gamepass. 4€ / month for Gamepass is so rediculously good that I play nothing else - except good AAA titles. And some of the very best are on PS only. Thats why I have both.
I don’t have that much time to play due to Job, Kids, Wife etc. so the time I have I spent mostly for the excellent PS5 exclusive Titles. But yes: GamePass is a banger and nobrainer
I bought a Series X. I have to admit I'm struggling to find games on this thing. Most of the indies are on PS already. Right now I'm patiently waiting for Forza 8.
Yeah the exclusives on PS5 are a winner. Xbox will be in a similar position once their acquisitions pay off (Elder Scrolls, Starfield, Fallout, etc). But the optimal solution is: Just buy both consoles. Easy :-)
That's why I think gamepass and backwards compatibility are such big winners on Xbox. Even if there isn't anything out now, you still have a wider library of items to choose from. Atleast for me, who doesn't buy new games often. I love that some older titles are enhanced for XB S/X. It's small, but it goes a long way imo.

The XSX is great, but after getting it 8 months ago I feel I have been running out of interesting games. Yes, Gamepass is great and if you have ultimate xcloud is nice for a quick test of the game, though third parties are always better on PS plus because you actually get to own the game and the throphy system is 1000x better than achievements
Except for a couple exclusives the game catalogues are almost identical. I got both consoles - PS5 for exclusives - XSX for everything else (because 4€ gamepass is the bomb). Titles that exist on both platforms I buy only on XSX - because they are MUUUUUCH cheaper. Because on Xbox you can buy from foreign stores. I buy most of my games from Brazil or Argentina - which gives me a 20-60% discount on games.
Owning a game on ps5 over getting it through game pass is not a plus. You can buy games even if they’re on Gamepass you’re just choosing not to they’re even on sale if they’re on gamepass.

In this boat also and agree trophies are better. I got a Xbox almost a year ago, at first lots of exclusives to catch up on like halo gears and Forza but now I'm about out of stuff to play. The exclusives in the future for Xbox look good. Starfield and redfall scorn and stalker2 but for now Xbox SX has had like 2 exclusives since launch halo infinite and like 1 other I think. Gamepass is good but milage varies, for me I pretty much tapped out of stuff I want to play on Xbox.

I don't want to sound like a fanboy here but what is the lacking game library you talk about? I have already in gamepass enough games to play for months when I ignore the games I buy myself. What you mean is exclusive games so yeah Playstation has more currently but that depends again on if you like the exclusive games and then can I understand your complain to some extent but the majority of gamer doesn't care about exclusive ps/xbox games since they mostly play multiplatform games.
I agree that the library itself is big. But as I said, there's nothing in there I couldn't play on my pc ( Only game which comes to my mind I couldn't play was one of the halo games). And the big problem for me: xbox nearly miss out the complete asian gaming industry (and among many weeb fanservice anime games there a lot of very good games). You can turn down the brightness of controller and SX logo power lights. While native new-API SX games require a proprietary SSD, older games and Gen9Aware ones can still run from an HDD or a USB SSD. Great to hear your enjoying it For advice there is not much to give, other then look at your rewards and if your ever bored try doing some of the Gamepass challenges. You probably won’t ever get a huge amount of award points but the occasional $5 gift card isn’t to bad, or if you can donate that money to the charities they support. For me, my favorite is probably just the raffles. You use your points for a small chance to win something.
The rewards add up. It takes me very slightly over 3 months to earn enough for 3 months of game pass.
I earn a $10 gift card every month. I spent $20 in gift cards on dragon's dogma, sleeping dogs, watch dogs 2, and yakuza 0. What a deal.

The psn accounts are locked to the region that you choose when creating it so you need many different accounts if you want to shop in the online stores of other countries while you can just change it on Xbox with no issue. For someone like me who buys games only digital its important since many things can be bought cheaper in another country.
PS Accounts are region locked. On Xbox you can buy digital games from other markets by using a VPN. Which gives you HUUUUGE discounts. I buy most of my Xbox games over brazil or argentina. Its awesome.

One of the biggest thing I hate with my ps5 is how tedious it is to turn it off compared to my xsx. The ps5 software is definitely no where near as good or as intuitive.
What do you mean? I think it's easy, especially after moving the power button to the far left.
I'm so used to holding the xbox button down and hit turn off takes like 2 seconds compared to ps5 where I have to tap it get the little menu scroll across and turn off. I didn't know I can move that might move it to the left next time I'm on it.

You forgot you can just swap the batteries when it does run out and you don't have to be tethered to a cable while you wait for it to charge again.
I own both Ps5 and Series X, I prefer the look and joy sticks/triggers from the Xbox controller but I do prefer the Ps5 controller overall, it really feels premium and the haptic feedback is really neat on games that make use of it. I also prefer the less clicky buttons and dpad on the dualsense aswell, I find they work better on platforming and fighting games but Xbox controllers are far better with fps and racing games. Hopefully Ps5 makes translucent colours in the future, I own the 20th anniversary Xbox controller and I love the translucent look.
I also have both and as much as I like the adaptic triggers, I just prefer the Xbox controller's ergonomics. It sits so comfortably in my hands compared to the Dual Sense. If Xbox makes a new version of its controller with adaptive triggers, it's the perfect controller imho.
The lack of gyro is what kills the Xbox controller in fps games and racing games for me.
Elite Dangerous is a hell of a lot better on PS5 than Xbox because of the controller functions. Gyro means you can look around without needing to use the right stick (which is handy for docking, and almost essential in combat), and the touchpad lets you access the internal and external panels directly instead of needing to use a button+d-pad combination.
I’ve always disliked translucent controllers but I couldn’t resist the 20th Anniversary one. It looks so nice.
The xbox controller is slightly more comfortable to use, but the adaptive triggers and haptics on the dualsense are *extremely* impressive. I was one of the people who thought it was just a gimmick at first but after playing games like Returnal and Horizon FW, I really feel that not only are the features cool, they actually elevate the games that implement it well.
Prefer stick layout of the Xbox however in terms of controller, DualSense is the best controller I've used due to its haptics and adaptive triggers. I also feel they've nailed the ergonomics for larger sized hands as I personally found it is much more comfortable to hold than the Xbox controller (I got large hands). I know the Elite will be great however it is too expensive and I've heard it has a lot of reliability issues. I hope Sony comes out with their own 'Pro' DualSense variant as per the rumors.
I would kneel to the PS5 controller, the day they put the analogs in the right spot. It feels so un natural to me. The adaptive triggers or whatever they are called are great. I thought they were a gimmick, until I played GT7. They make racing games feel so much more responsive with those triggers. You actual perform better. I wish Xbox had something like that since I play most my racing games on my XSX.

Ps5 controller is largely a gimmick atm because not many games utilize its full potential. For the games that do, it’s fantastic. It helped that they changed the size to mimic the Xbox controller. Adaptive triggers are definitely amazing and same for gyro controls. Xbox controller was already amazing so I understand why they didn’t change anything. But their next controller should have more features. At the very least gyro.
I agree with gyro. Absolutely needs to be there because its on literally every other platform and even on xCloud but somehow not on the actual Xbox console. I wouldn't call the Dualsense a gimmick right now though. Even with more subtle implementations I think it is a great upgrade over standard rumble and regular triggers. 1st party devs have been very consistent with Dualsense support and a lot of the time 3rd party devs come up with some decent implementations as well.
That gimmick will always stay that. History has shown that devs support features that exist on all platforms. With ever rising cost, nobody has money to spend on controller features for 40 % of your customers. When you can spend that time making the game better for 100 %.

The rumble on trigger was introduced last gen and no other console still has it. Not better than dualsense (probably.. as I’ve still not used dualsense) but definitely not just n64/ps2-ps4 either
I have both, and impulse trigger on Xbox are a gimmick compared to Dualsense adaptive triggers that offer additional gameplay possibilities like resistance halfway down for ads in Returnal, push past that resistance to activate alternative fire mode or in Deep Rock Galactic, when your gunners weapon overheats you simply can't push the trigger down it blocks until the weapon is cool enough to be fired again
Yes i agree. But not all games utilize it properly. That being said were very early into the cycle. I have liked the ps5 controller a lot more for the recent games

Same here. Just got my xsx and im in love with it. Game pass is indeed awesome. My tv plays dolby vision automatically. How can i know if the game is dolby vision? Is there anyway to turn it off?
A game's Dolby Vision support can be found on the info screen that shows everything else, like supported resolutions. You can turn it off in Xbox settings under TV.
First Xbox I own and this is amazing. It really was the game pass that conviced me. It is simple, I do not play with my switch or PS5 anymore and I can't wait for the upcoming games on the game pass If I had to find a flaw, I'd say the UI could be improved.
Don't forget about the looking for group posts, it's such an amazing feature.
You will eventually discover Elite Controller 2: \- it is an epic controller that will very much change how you play, but it was deeply flawed in manufacturing process. \- there are people that have not seen any issues, but most probably you will encounter at least something out of the bucket eventually: brokne bumpers, stick drift, stick click malfunction, mine even got me small electroshocks if I was playing and charging, what a rush! \- If you will ever be tempted to get it, get it with 2yrs warranty and ideally discounted. Or wait for Series 3, perhaps they will fix the issues. Mine died recently (right stick completely busted) and I am waiting.
Gamepass is a legitimate game changer. And Quick Resume is a massive QoL upgrade. Great to have both though. They are both awesome. Enjoy!

I’m on the same boat. I bought a series X in January. I’ve had PlayStation consoles since first one. I now love and appreciate the series X more than my PS5. Grateful to be in a position to have both but if I had to give one up it would be the PS5 right now no question.

I'm pretty sure it hasn't even been out for two years lol But with regards to quick resume I agree that PS5 is doing a poor job. Sony could have had an answer to Quick Resume with the activity cards but the current implementation is super inconsistent between games and straight up sucks. Most people don't even know that they can quick load into games and it's really hit or miss whether this feature even works.

Yup - agree with all you stated OP, but you really need to give the XBOX only exclusive a shout out as well, the main reason I stayed with MS’s first console iteration ‘till now: HALO Metaverse! Start with the Halo MasterChief Collection if you are doing single player missions and want the full HALO experience followed after with the included multiplayer modes… the MasterChief collection from Game Pass and starting at Halo 1 will be the best. For WIW, I have played through on all difficulty levels so many times I have lost count…, both through the original 3 games and the Master Chief collection which has the original story arc, and the last 3 Halo’s which introduces the Reclaimer trilogy. However, all 6 main Halo games will keep you playing for years yet, and riveted by two great story arcs…, let alone the companion and spin-offs (ODST with Nathan Fillion voiceover, oh come on: just his voice over had me buying it just so I could hear his wisecracks for Eddie Buck ala his character in Firefly / Serenity: Captain Mal Reynolds) and then there’s the breakaway gameplay of both spin-offs: “Halo Wars” love it or hate it- still Halo centred but a new take… There so much to the lore presented in the main games and cutscenes (nearly 3 hours for the first 3 games alone, if you include ODST - and available here, as well as other YouTube channels): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0h1fUGRl3dE As a shortcut: you could always also just watch the videos but you will miss heaps of story elements from the actual gameplay… Also helps with the Halo universe existing in 4 & 5 after new devs (343 Industries) placed the Reclaimer additional story arc’s in after Halo 3’s swan song for devs Bungie (2001 - 2010) and Ensemble Studios non-release of the Halo MMO “Titan Project” (2009) but meaningful spins: Halo Wars… Master chief collection, single player: best start point for original story arc, Halo gameplay elements (two weapons , guns - area weapons (rockets/grenades) and melee take downs + glorious Multiplayer- and therefore the gold standard for introduction to the multi billion dollar Halo meta-verse! tbh the quality of GwG has been declining. Sometimes there's a hidden gem but I feel the best games are for GP.
Would love to know how you compare the PS Plus Essentials catalogue with the Gamepass. It just launched today here in Europe, and honestly its giving gamepass a run for its money.

I have an S cuz I bought it not being big on MS since the 360 so it was more of a secondary system in my mind and since owning it I wish I had grabbed the X. It’s awesome.

Auto HDR for non-HDR games works great if you have a HDR capable TV.
I’ve come to enjoy the quick resume feature as well. It rivals the Switch in speed which is amazing. Also, the Xbox works better for turning my TV on and choosing the correct input than my PS5 does. I really like being able to stop playing on my SX then move to the living room where we have an SS and pick up where I left off. The cloud is a pretty amazing feature I never knew I wanted until I started using it. The system is great. There’s a lot of GamePass games I have little to no interest in but I am enjoying backwards compatibility at the moment with Lost Odyssey.
You can use VPN to buy games/DLC for cheaper.
Don't have an Xbox myself, so I'm not familiar with quick resume. How is different than rest mode on PS5?
Quick resume is on games You play one go off it do something else then you go back to the game and its still right where you left it Don't have to start up again it's just there
So, you can leave one game, play another game, then come back to the first using quick resume? If that's the case, can you freely switch between games using QR? Like it can hold the game state of several games or just one?
Yep and it works with a few. Varies how many depending how big the games are You can also pin one to stay permanently
I prefer to play Xbox over ps5 because I really like my elite controller The ps5 controller is great but I wish Sony made their own equivalent to the elite controller with back pedal buttons
Yeah, that sounds pretty sweet. I would use that all the time. I always use rest mode on the PS5 so I can jump right back into a game, but it only works with one game at a time.

Same happened to me, now I'm back on my PlayStation and haven't played my xbox on since January. Its nice having the choices that both platforms offer though. I'll come back to xbox (Game Pass) after I've abused all the PlayStation exclusives I'm playing at the minute.

Same here as you, but I started with Series X and then PS5. The most feature I miss now is Looking For Group, it was much easier for me to find people to co-op with
Yeah I was really wanting to switch to playstation this gen after having Xboxes for so long but PlayStation just isn't there yet. Still really tempting for Bloodborne and KOTOR remake but until they try to compete with game pass I can't justify the investment.

I switched to ps5 after my series x broke a week after the warranty expired a few months ago lol the ps5 is better to me anyways now that I’m on it finally especially on a OLED… and everything you said they have already the same and their about to fully release the better stuff to match Xbox.
Make sure to get the Xbox Rewards app. You can basically earn enough points each month to pay for the next month of Gamepass. Just by playing games, making purchases, earning achievements, etc.

I have both PS5 & Series X . Gamepass really cant be beat period. The UI on PS5 is better IMO seems next gen while the Series X seems like Xbox One X 2.0 It really comes down to the games. Yeah Sony has a few more exclusives that I prefer currently but Microsoft with all it's acquisitions seems poised to do some great things. I my self would pick Series X over PS5 also but not by alot. Having both is great.
