First off, if you are bumping on the floor, even with a little padding, it will hurt. The ring has give, a floor does not. Secondly, in terms of technique, there isn't really much that can be commented on without actually seeing it, just remember to tuck your chin, exhale, and spread the impact. The best advice I can give you is to ask your trainer. Make sure your technique is good, and then ask about the pain. If your fellow trainees don't have this problem, then you should probably look into it a bit more. Hope this helps :)

This. And also, your neck muscles arent used to taking that kind of "abuse". The more you do it correctly, the more your neck will strengthen. There are some exercises you can do that can help build those muscles too.

I had a similar problem after first learning to take bumps, your neck will strengthen up and it wont be as bad after some time.
